Row home. Flat roof. Lowest part of the roof leaked. Also a skylight original to the house (1920's) that had to be replaced immediately. Patched it myself and then when the weather changed contacted City Wide. Very prompt response. Very professional. Came when they said they would. Price for the roof and the new skylight was very good. Needed no access to the house so i didn't have to be there. Cleaned up after themselves and now I expect 15 more years of a safe roof over my head. Excellent service. Great to work with. They made the whole thing very easy . Wished I had contacted them in the first place instead of waiting.
Description of Work: Replaced the entire roof and replaced the skylight.

From the very beginning, Citywide was prompt, helpful, and efficient. Within hours of my initial call to Citywide, an estimator showed up and gave me a complete report. He was on time, and explained the work that needed to be done in terms I could understand. The pictures he took up on the roof were also extremely helpful. I set up for a crew to come out the following day to replace my roof. They showed up on time, and stayed out of my way. They were also very efficient, and completed the work by the deadline they set. I've had some bad experiences with other contractors/roofers in the city, but Citywide changed my opinion of Philadelphia businesses. Overall, a great experience! I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I discovered a had a leaky roof about a month after another roofer came to do routine sealing. Water was coming in from the seams, which I leared from the Citywide estimator. After showing me pictures from the estimate, and specific discussion, the estimator told me I needed to get a new roof, since the original roof that was installed was the wrong material. I was charged exactly was was estimated, and the work was done in an extremely timely fashion.

I've waited over a month to submit my report because I wanted to make sure that all of the leaks had stopped during severe and wet winter weather. I had thought, based on what Ed and I had discussed and on the pictures of the leaky roof that he had taken, that more of the roof would be covered with the more absorbent and flexible material he showed me. The crew came out early on a Saturday morning and finished by the early afternoon. They were polite, thorough and efficient - they were so fast I wasn't sure they had fixed anything. But nothing has leaked in the 6 weeks since, and we are very grateful.
Description of Work: The gutter drain on the side of our house fell and broke during a bad storm, so I called City Wide Roofing based on the positive reports listed on Angie's list. When I spoke to Ed Fehr (who called me back right away) I mentioned that we had some bad leakage in one of our bedrooms. Ed came out the next day to do the estimate, and after investigating the roof pretty thoroughly, told me we would need to repair quite a few leaks. The estimate seemed fair, it was right before Christmas, and I agreed. Ed's crew came out two days later and repaired both the roof and the drainage pipe.

Well, they gave us the cheapest estimate, and I believe we got exactly what we paid for. They kept pushing back the start date because they didn't have the right materials, and then had to stop in the middle to re-order more shingles because they miscalculated the amount that they would need. When they were there they were surprisingly fast (almost like a whirlwind of roofers), and then when they were not there - they were just not there at all without telling me what was going on. I had to call them to find out when they were planning on coming back. At some point during the process the company called me to ask me to tell the roofers to call them (only they had not been at my house for over a week). There seems to be a little bit of poor communication. They left shingles on the sidewalk and tar on the steps that I had to clean up. My roof no longer leaks, so I am happy that I had the work done, but it probably won't be too long before I have to have it done again.
Description of Work: Replaced the entire roof, shingles and flat portion.

I AM DISAPPOINTED BY THIS MEMBER'S SOMEWHAT NEGATIVE REPORT. THE REASON WE DID NOT COMPLETE THE WORK ALL AT ONE TIME IS BECAUSE THE MEMBER WANTED TO MATCH AN EXISTING AREA OF OTHER ROOF THAT WAS ALREADY SHINGLED AND STILL IN FAIR CONDITION. THE DELAY CAME IN WHERE THE PARTICULAR BRAND AND COLOR OF SHINGLE WE HAD TO MATCH, WERE OUT-DATED AND SPECIAL ORDER. TO COMMENT ON THIS WEB SIGHT THAT THEY WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO GET THE ROOF FIXED AGAIN VERY SOON IS JUST COMPLETELY UNFAIR TO OUR COMPANY. MAY GOD ALWAYS BLESS YOU! BY ED FEHR, OWNER

I e-mailed the request for an estimate on Friday, December 12. On Monday I came home to messages that they were sending out an estimator. He came and left a card, but since we were not home, he did not really know what to look at. I left a phone message that Friday would be a good day to come back since it is my day off. I did not get a return phone call. I called the company on Friday and spoke to the estimator who said he would come out on Saturday. The weather was horrible on Saturday, so I was not surprised that he did not come. However, he did not telephone to reschedule his visit. He did come on Monday, December 23, and luckily we were home. At this point I had not been very impressed with communication with the company, but that changed. Ed went up on the roof and took lots of pictures. He explained everything to us and let us know that the leak was probably caused by chimney damage, not roof damage. However, there were roofing needs and we decided to have them done to keep up maintenance on the house. He said the work would probably begin on Saturday, but on Friday morning I got a phone call from Ed saying that the work would be done that day. Doug, the foreman, was very pleasant and professional. He did need quite a bit from in the house, telephone use, rags and cleaner, bathroom, so it was good that we were home. The work looked good and was finished before the end of the morning.
Description of Work: We had a leak in a third floor bedroom. They redid some flashing that had been installed wrong and re-coated the flat roof as well as re-coating a porch flat roof that also needed it.

What can I say?! After being ripped off by two other contractors, I chose City Wide Roofing based on their Angie's List ratings. I believe I made the right choice. This was a very pleasant experience for me, from their compassionate owner, Mr. Raffi, Doris, the receptionist, Mr. O'Neill, and the two gentlemen who came to my house one bright cold Sunday morning mid-December to repair my roof. The roofers were at my home for approx. 4 hours and cleaned up all of their debris. They explained everything that was being done to my roof as my questions arose. I would wholeheartedly recommend this company. The owner was willing to work with me and I received a discount for being a member of Angie's List. South Jersey residents, don't let the fact that this company is located in Northeast Philadelphia scare you!! These folks came to my home as quickly as the others located in South Jersey.

No work was performed since it was clear that the scope of the activity would be better suited for a metal work (copper bay area is leaking), or a tile person. He suggested that I contact the latter. City wide came out first thing in the morning after receiving that call. They got the job done in 4 hours! Throughout the process, they did not have to disturb the tenants. We were very impressed with how quickly the job was completed. They cleaned up the area well and left no traces that they had been out, except for the new roof. Everyone I dealt with in the office was very nice and professional. Since this was a long distance project in which I could not be present, they were very reassuring. They did a very good job. There has not been a single problem with the roof since.

The project went perfectly. I originally contracted to have the existing rubber roof removed and replaced with 30 year ridgeline shingles from GAF. The contract price was $3000. When the City Wide crew arrived and began pulling back the existing rubber roof, they discovered 4" of foam insulation, approximately R-30. They called me immediately to ask if I wanted this removed and to suggest that I keep it. Ed immediately came down to the house and he and I looked at the roof and decided to install a new rubber roof over the existing one, instead of removing the roof and insulation. After changing the scope of the work, Ed lowered the price to $2700.
Description of Work: City Wide Roofing installed a rubber roof, rebuilt the fascia and eve, installed copper drain boxes, and capped and sealed the entire roof on a typical Philadelphia row house. The roof consisted of two sections: the front section was approximately 17' x 20' angled down toward the front of the house at a 20 degree angle; the back section was approximately 15' x 30' angled down toward the side of the house at a 20 degree angle.

Instead of an estimate for the gutter repair, what I received was a single estimate for an entirely new roof. Three separate phone calls to redress this impressively incorrect estimate failed to correct the estimate. The fourth time I called, the secretary gave me the estimate for the gutter repair, but not the flashing repair. She also said the estimator said the roof needed to be replaced in the next year. I've had the state of the roof checked by 2 other licensed contractors now, and neither see an imminent problem with the roof. The message I came away with was clear: City Wide Roofing wanted to sell me a 4K new roof, regardless of what I actually needed. Moreover, they had no interest in addressing my genuine, small, problems.
Description of Work: I called for an estimate to replace a gutter and reattach a flashing, and have the estimator just check out my roof generally while he was up there.

I AM THE OWNER OF CITY WIDE ROOFING MY NAME IS EDWARD FEHR, I HAVE PERSONALLY LOOKED INTO YOUR COMPLAINT. THE FOLLOWING ARE MY FINDINGS. FACTS; ON 10-28-08, YOU CALLED MY COMPANY FOR A GUTTER AND FLASHING ESTIMATE, YOU SPOKE WITH DORIS, WHOM TOOK YOUR INFORMATION. ONCE DORIS TOOK ALL THE GENERAL INFORMATION FROM YOU, SHE ASK YOU IF YOU WANTED THE ROOFING ON THE PROPERTY INSPECTED WHY THE ESTIMATOR WAS THERE. YOU AGREED TO HAVE THEM LOOKED AT WHILE WE WERE THERE. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED BECAUSE DORIS DID NOT SEPARATE THE GUTTER AND ROOFING INSPECTION AS TWO DIFFERENT ITEMS. TO THE ESTIMATOR IT LOOKED LIKE A ROOFING AND GUTTER ESTIMATE. I SPOKE TO MR. ONEIL WHOM DID YOUR ESTIMATE. HE HAS SINCE GIVEN YOU A SEPARATE ESTIMATE FOR THE GUTTER AND FLASHING WORK ONLY. THAT BEING SAID YOU CAN SEE THERE WAS AN HONEST MISTAKE MADE BY US. HOWEVER, I SEE WHERE IN YOUR REPORT THAT YOU HAD TWO OTHER ROOFING COMPANY'S LOOK AT YOUR ROOFING ON THE PROPERTY. IT DOES NOT SAY THAT THEY DID NOT FIND THINGS WRONG WITH YOUR ROOFING. WE, HAVE A TYPED WRITTEN STATEMENT THAT EXPLAINS WHY YOU DO NEED NEW ROOFING WORK DONE A.S.A.P. WE, WILL ALSO PROVIDE YOU WITH PHOTO'S OF THE AGED AND FAILING CONDITIONS ON ALL YOUR ROOFS. ALOT OF FOLKS WAIT UNTIL THE WATER IS ACTUALLY LEAKING INTO THERE HOME BEFORE CALLING A ROOFING CONTRACTOR TO INSPECT THE ROOFS. THE PROBLEM WITH THAT IS IT USUALLY TAKES ABOUT SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE WATER SEEPS THROUGH THE ROOFS WOODEN DECKING, ATTIC FLOORING AND FINALLY YOUR CEILINGS. NOW YOUR LOOKING AT ALL KINDS OF ADDITIONAL EXPENSES ON TOP OF THE ROOFING WORK. WE'LL HOLD YOUR ESTIMATE FOR THREE MONTHS IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO FURTHER CHECK INTO OUR FINDINGS AND USE OUR COMPANY. AFTER THAT AND BECAUSE OF THE CONTINUED RAISING COSTS OF MATERIALS, WE WOULD HAVE TO RE-EVALUATE THE ESTIMATE. SORRY FOR THE DELAY AND RESPONSE IN RESOLVING YOU SITUATION. WE HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY BUSY.

An investment property I own needed a new roof. I contacted the company that did it in 1990 for the former owners and City Wide. City Wide, for the same material etc., was half the price of the other roofer. They gave me an estimate and dropped it off at my home with a sample of the material to be used. When I called to accept, they were able to get out there the next day. While I did not go up on the roof to look at the job I feel confident in their work (and so far no leaks).

Office staff very poor. I had to call multiple times before they called me back, and the follow-up from the office staff after getting the estimate was poor too. They took a long time to call and all they asked me was, "Did you get the estimate?" I said, "Yes" and then they hung up. They didn't even ask if I wanted to proceed with the work! It seemed like they didn't really care about getting my business. I gave the job to someone else. The estimator was a good guy, very polite and he got the estimate done very quickly. He deserves better back office support.

MY NAME IS RAFI LEVY, OFFICE MANAGER FOR CITYWIDE ROOFING. I READ YOUR RESPONSE AND QUESTIONED MY OFFICE STAFF AND AL THE ESTIMATOR INVOLVED. THESE ARE THE FACTS AS WE SEE THEM. ON 8-15-08, YOUR CALLED FOR A ROOF ESTIMATE AND TOLD US THAT YOU WOULD SEND US A HOME INSPECTORS REPORT INDICATING HIS FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS. YOU DID IN FACT E-MAIL THAT REPORT ON 8-18-08. ON 8-20-08, AL CAME TO YOUR PROPERTY DID HIS INSPECTION AND MEASURED THE ROOFING AREAS OF ROOFING IN QUESTION. SINCE THE NEXT DAY WAS A SUNDAY NOTHING WAS DONE WITH YOUR ESTIMATE DUE TO BEING CLOSED ON SUNDAYS. WHEN AL CAME BACK TO WORK HE CALCULATED AND DRAFTED YOUR ESTIMATE FOR DORIS ONE OF OUR SECRETARIES TO TYPE. SHE THEN WAS INSTRUCTED BY AL TO E-MAIL THE ESTIMATE TO YOU. THAT IS WHO CALLED AND ASK YOU IF YOU RECEIVED THE ESTIMATE. SHE WAS JUST FOLLOWING UP TO MAKE SURE YOU RECEIVED THE ESTIMATE VIA E-MAIL. THE OFFICE STAFF TO NOT KNOW ROOFING WORK SO THERE IS NO WAY ANY OF OUR SECRETARIES COULD HAVE EXPLAINED THE ESTIMATE. ONCE YOU RECEIVED THE E-MAILED ESTIMATE IT WAS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CALL AL THE ESTIMATOR IF YOU HAD ANY QUESTIONS OR FOR SCHEDULING. TO SAY WE DIDN'T WANT TO DO YOUR WORK IS TOTALLY INCORRECT. WE DON'T SEND ESTIMATOR OUT TO DO ESTIMATES FOR NOTHING. WE WANT EVERY JOB WE CAN GET. WERE TERRIBLY SORRY FOR THIS MIS-UNDERSTANDING. SINCE YOU ALREADY HAD THE ROOF DONE THERE IS NOTHING ELSE I CAN SAY EXCEPT SORRY.

In 2004 I had a new rubber roof installed on my home by City Wide Roofing. In June and July 2007, rainwater entered my home through my ceiling in my master bedroom. This water subsequently flowed across my bedroom, into my hallway, through the ceiling in my living-room, foyer, dining-room, foyer closet, first floor bathroom, and basement ceiling. My wooden floors in my bedroom and living-room are damaged. My floor in my living-room was soaked to the point it is warped and is a safety hazard. I contacted City Wide roofing on both occasions to have the roof repaired. I also contacted City Wide roofing in reference to the damage that occurred in my home. They sent a carpet company owner to my home. He said the damage was extensive and the wood floor would have to be repaired but not by him. He sent out another gentleman who stated he would have to replace the entire floor because of the damage. I called City Wide roofing to ask them about the repairs to my upstairs, ceilings and walls. I told them I could find someone to replace the texture on the ceiling but I needed a contractor to replace the molded sheet-rock with heavy stains. City Wide roofing owner Ed Fehr has never returned a call. I have been pushed on the back burner for over a year. Finally, a Co-owner, "Ralphy", stated he was going to have everything fixed. I contacted 3 contractors and the median price for all damage, not including personal items was totaled at $26,800. Ralphy stated to me, "Where do you think we get that kind of money?", I said "Go through your insurance company!". I told Ralphy that I did not have flood insurance. I asked him for his insurance company after getting the run around from this company and being patient for over a year. Ralphy told me AIG but refused to provide a policy number. AIG told me that was wrong! It's York. York told me it's wrong! It Wilshire. By the way, Ralphy made a comment to the worker who came to patch the shingles that my house was not worth $26,000 dollars, if that's not a biased comment. Actually it's not it's worth $350,000! Sierra Claim Adjuster came to my home to estimate damage. I asked him if he needed to get to the roof. He stated "No, I can see the point of entry from here." While on location, Ralphy calls me on my cell phone. The adjuster stated he told him to meet me here. I told the adjuster that "Ralphy will not enter my home because he was supposed to come to my home on three prior occasions & he never came". Ralphy was trying to get me to add a claim on the insurance for the shingles. He is so shady. On 9-10-08, I received a phone call from Sierra's Claim adjuster, Steve that he was a couple minutes from my home & he was going to take pictures of my roof because City Wide lied and told him the leak came from the chimney. I was on location when they fixed the roof, it was at the party wall. City Wide has lied so many times, I was threatened, intimidated and harassed by Sierra Claim adjuster at my home because I'm a female!
Description of Work: Rubber roof, shingles, skylight, drain, and flashing. I would need 8 pages to give information of how City Wide Roofing will lie to cover themselves. They do not want to fix my home. When I called their agent, she stated they had 3 other claims for similar problems. They are the problem. I will contact everyone to tell them of the horrible service they provide. They claim they don't have any money but the owner of the carpet company states he rents a property from them and "Ralphy" owns an electronic store in downtown Philadelphia, were I met him. I have so much documentation on them. They are going to write back and provide you with more lies that I'm going to catch them in. They figured they had a dumb female who they could do anything to. Wrong. Men, beware, have empathy and put me in the place of your wives, girlfriends, mothers and sisters. By the way thanks to City Wide Roofing for sending someone that I had prior contact with in my line of work. Thank God he was a nice young man, who is on the right path and treated me with the utmost professionalism. I would do anything for him. He was great, but what if he wasn't so happy to see me?

I AM APPALLED AT THIS PERSON'S NEGATIVE REPORT. FIRST OF ALL TO SAY WE ARE BIAS TOWARD FEMALES IS RIDICULOUS. IF YOU READ OVER THE OTHER REPORTS ATTACHED TO OUR SITE YOU WILL SEE THAT 90 PERCENT OF THE CONSUMERS THAT USED OUR COMPANY WERE FEMALE. SECONDLY, TO CALL US LIARS IS ALSO RIDICULOUS SINCE IN OVER 100 REPORTS FROM CONSUMERS WROTE NOTHING BUT POSITIVE REPORTS AND STATED THAT WE WERE INDEED VERY HONEST AND DID A GREAT JOB FOR THEM. OUR REPUTATION AS AN HONEST COMPANY SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. IN 2004, THE MEMBER HAD A NEW TOP MAIN FLAT ROOF AND SHINGLE PENT ROOF INSTALLED BY OUR COMPANY. IN JULY OF 2007 WE RECEIVED A CALL THAT THERE WAS A LEAK. WE SENT A SERVICE TRUCK TO THE PROPERTY ONLY TO FIND A COMPLETELY CLOGGED DRAIN. THE ROOF HAD COMPLETELY FILLED UP WITH WATER AND ENTERED THROUGH THE CHIMNEY AND WALL FLASHINGS. WE RE-FLASHED THE CHIMNEY, THE WALLS AND THE DRAIN BOX AREA. WE ALSO NOTED AND LEFT A COPY OF OUR FINDING WITH HER. WE FURTHER EXPLAINED THAT SHE NEEDED TO GET HER CHIMNEY STONE POINTED OR STUCCOED OR SHE COULD POSSIBLY CONTINUE TO GET A LEAK IF THE DRAIN CLOGGED AGAIN OR EVEN ON A VERY HARD DOWNPOUR. ABOUT A MONTH AFTER WE WERE THERE SHE CALLED TO SAY THAT SHE HAD SUSTAINED SOME DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR OF THE HOUSE FROM THE LEAK. SHE SEEMED LIKE A NICE PERSON AND SHE WAS A CUSTOMER OF OURS SO I FIRST EXPLAINED THAT WE WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LEAK. IN OTHER WORDS THERE WAS NO DEFECT IN THE MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP ON THE ROOF. I FURTHER EXPLAINED THAT IN HER WARRANTY IT STATES THAT WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE BEFORE DURING OR AFTER THE WORK. IN SPITE OF THAT I SENT ONE OF MY EMPLOYEES AND A FLOORING COMPANY TO GIVE HER A PRICE ON FIXING THE SMALL AMOUNT OF DAMAGE. MY PAINTING EMPLOYEE CAME BACK AND SAID THE DAMAGE WAS VERY MINIMAL, BUT BECAUSE HE WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH TEXTURED CEILINGS THAT HE COULD NOT DO THE WORK. I SUGGESTED THAT SHE CALL A HANDYMAN THAT COULD DO THE WORK. ABOUT A WEEK LATER SHE TOLD ME T H AT SHE DID IN FACT FIND A PERSON FOR 300.00 DOLLARS TO FIX THE CEILING. THE FLOORING COMPANY SAID THAT SHE HAD A SMALL AREA OF HARDWOOD FLOORING THAT COULD BE REPAIRED, BUT HIS COMPANY DID NOT DO REPAIRS, SO HE RECOMMENDED SOMEONE WHO DID. THAT PERSON DID GO TO HER PROPERTY GAVE HER AN ESTIMATE FOR REPAIRING THE FLOOR IN THE AREA WHERE THE MOST RECENT LEAK HAD OCCURRED. SHE HAD DAMAGE TO OTHER AREAS OF FLOORING THAT HAPPENED LONG BEFORE WE DID ANY WORK FOR HER. SHE ASKED FOR ESTIMATES FOR THOSE AREAS OF FLOORING AS WELL. A WHOLE YEAR WENT BY BEFORE WE HEARD FROM HER AGAIN. IN JUNE OF 2008, AFTER SOME VERY SEVERE WIND AND RAIN STORMS CAME THROUGH OUR AREA SHE CALLED TO SAY SOME OF HER SHINGLES HAD CAME OFF HER FRONT PENT ROOF. I SENT A CREW OUT TO REPLACE THE MISSING SHINGLES. SHE INSISTED THAT WE GIVE HER A WHOLE NEW ROOF. BECAUSE THE SUSTAINED WINDS WERE GREATER THAN THE AMOUNT OF WARRANTY COVERAGE, I CALLED OUR SHINGLE SUPPLIER TO REQUEST THAT HE AS WELL AS OUR GAF SHINGLER REPRESENTATIVE, MR. JEFF SILER GO OUT AND SEE IF WE COULD REPLACE HER ROOF UNDER WARRANTY. KEN HICKS, OUR ROOFING MATERIAL SUPPLIER SAID THAT THEY WOULD NOT BECAUSE THE WINDS WHERE GREATER THAN THE VALUE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY, ALSO THAT HE NOTED THAT SOME OF THE SHINGLES WERE NAILED HIGH. I THEN SENT A CREW OUT AND INSTALLED A NEW SHINGLE ROOF AT NO CHARGE TO HER. THE NEXT TIME I HEARD FROM HER WAS IN AUGUST OF 2008, CLAIMING THAT SHE HAD 26,000.00 DOLLARS IN DAMAGE IN HER HOME. WE SUGGESTED THAT SHE CONTACT HER INSURANCE CARRIER. SHE CALLED US BACK TO SAY SHE DID NOT HAVE FLOOD COVERAGE. WE FOUND THAT STRANGE SINCE THERE WAS NO FLOOD. WE THEN SENT OUR INSURANCE CARRIER TO HER HOME TO INVESTIGATE HER CLAIM. THE INVESTIGATOR FOUND ABOUT 5,000.00 DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED BEFORE WE DID ANY ROOFING WORK FOR HER AT ALL. SHE WAS MORE THAN RUDE TO STEVE POGLITSCH, THE ADJUSTER OUR INSURANCE CARRIER HIRED, SHE WAS DOWN RIGHT NASTY. SHE WOULD NOT ALLOW HIM TO GO ON HER ROOF TO INVESTIGATE THE CLAIM, SO THEY COULD NOT COMPLETE OR PROCESS THE CLAIM AND SUBSEQUENTLY DENIED THE CLAIM. THERE IS NOTHING MORE I CAN DO FOR THIS CUSTOMER EXCEPT TO PRAY THAT GOD TOUCH HER HEART. BY ED FEHR, PRESIDENT

I called him to replace our roof, and he told me that we didn't need to replace it. I was amazed at how honest he was about not needing to replace the roof. He said he could do it if we wanted to, but that it was still in good condition and just needed a repair. It was all done over the phone, and his response was very quick. He was wonderful and I would use him in a heart beat.
Description of Work: I called him for an estimate because I was told by someone else that I needed a new roof.

I do not know if the roof is going to last, do not know if I am subject to fines, do not know if the roof is to code, do now know if this roof will enable me to sell my house, do not know if my bank (FHA and B of A) will make me replace this roof once they find that it is not to code. This reverse mortgage contract says I am responsible for any of the problems with this roof; Adjusters, if they come, will notify the homeowners if this installation is not correct. That will mean a good deal of worry and difficulty for me and I do hope that this can be resolved without all of this . We have a plaster house that has recently been upgraded by about $22K. The roof was the first project to ensure that the house could be safe. It has leaked for years. I used your company to find a good company to do the job so that the money I have would not be wasted.
Description of Work: There is evidence they did not repair all of the roof deck. Needs complete evaluation or a National Adjuster will have to come in and try to establish a claim for Homeowners. Then the bank will be involved and everything is going to get very difficult. I told Citywide by phone and Ed came and said he would come back and have the area over bathroom fixed. It was night so I wanted him to check the entire roof. At that point we still thought we had covered gutters. Then we found out that was not the case. Then the State of NJ came in and was going to provide free insulation in the attic. Could not because of the trash in the attic which was not there before the roof installation. It appears that the workers threw trash into the attic which had no floor and it went onto the plaster ceilings, old wiring, etc. Things are now far more important to resolve because of this discovery. We see watershield to eaves but we do not see roof deck. The code is to have a certain strength of ply on the roof and then the water shield. Ed needs to look at this ASAP. We need to know that the flashing around the chimney – a source of leaking – is put up correctly. Important to put up the covered gutters around the complete house and not just half the house. I never asked for half the house to have new gutters and I made it clear that the facia had collapsed because of the gutters filling with beachnuts and I was going to hire a gutter company to do put up covered (with metal and a slit) gutters. Ed wanted the job. He understood the problem but evidently his workers did not. They also had zero experience because they had no knowledge of baskets in the downspouts, left off one downspout, did not replace all the downspouts and further, used tar on exposed decking of the house making it look really like amatures had done the job. Decking on flat roofs is flashed and is painted. They did not replace a downspout on the front porch and tossed the old one. Ed should also have made sure that the gutters to be installed were sufficient to do the job to keep water from the basement since that was one of the reasons for the new roof.
