We had three estimates for the wall and chose the Wall King. When Bill came out to look at the wall, he had samples of the brick that he put next to the house so we could see how it would compare to the brick on the house. He took measurements and had an estimate in five minutes. The other two companies took a week to give me a quote - and I had to call one of them to even get it that soon. The Wall King's crew removed the larger trees in the week prior to building the wall. The smaller trees were removed the day before. When they dug up the cable line - through no fault of their own, the line wasn't marked - they called me immediately to let me know. The day of the wall building, the crew showed up on time. The wall went up pretty quickly. Bill and the crew stopped several times to make sure that the wall was the right height and that we were pleased with how it looked. The whole crew was very professional. They were done that afternoon, as promised. We were very pleased with the wall and look forward to using them again for a wall in the back of the house.

The 30 year old wood tie retaining walls at our home and with our neighbor were shot. After obtaining 5 quotes for the job, it was clear that the Wall King was the right choice and it was. He showed up on time with the right skills and equipment to clear out the old walls, prepare for and install a new wall, completely landscape around the work, and totally clean up. I could not have expected more and we are totally pleased. It is best to engage the service with experience, expertise, and reputation for the job at hand and Wall King is the right choice for retaining wall repair and installation.

The existing retaining wall in our driveway was not properly installed and was bowing out in the center. The wall was no longer providing support for the concrete steps that extend off of the front porch of our house. After interviewing a number of other contractors we found Bill and his team. When we initially called to setup an appointment for an estimate Bill responded promptly and stopped over within the week. Bill was extremely knowledgeable and confident in his recommendations. He noticed all of the little details and potential difficulties without any need for me to point them out. While our job was not large, it was tricky due to the proximity to the concrete stairs and concrete landing which were supported on the earth that was behind the existing retaining wall. Bill quickly formulated a plan to safely remove the existing wall without damaging the steps / landing. His estimate was competitive with the other contractors we interviewed even though he was providing a superior plan and product within only a single day of work (all the other contractors wanted at least 2 days, a number wanted a week or more). The day of our appointment Bill and his crew arrived on time and they started work immediately. Efficient and professional, the 5 man crew worked hard and fast. It was a sight to behold. They built a wall that was not only well built but beautiful. They even took a little extra time to remove some shrubs for us before they left. They removed all of the debris and mess. Other than the dust that had blown around you wouldn't even know that they had been there with their equipment. We will not hesitate to hire them again in the future.

They came when they said they would and finished it in 4 days. I was amazed. They cleaned up well. The owner was very nice.

From the beginning we were impressed with Bill's concern for the quality of the job. When he came to view the job he noted that our house lacked an appropriate entry. He suggested some ideas that would fit with the architecture of our house. We appreciated the time he spent listening to us and working out a plan. He also stressed that he welcomed our input as the job progressed. Bill ended up building one long wall measuring 6 feet high and two additional walls that were about 20 feet in length out of weathered allegheny blend versa lok block. He also installed some new steps leading up to our house and a lovely walkway constructed out of pavers. At the foot of the steps are two pillars to mark the entry of the property. The job was quite an undertaking-more than I had anticipated. There was quite a bit of excavating required and a lot of attention to detail. The Wall King team arrived early in the morning and worked diligently each day. They were all very courteous and skilled at their jobs. The results are beautiful! It has made a huge difference to the curb appeal of home. We smile when we drive up to our house, it was definitely worth the cost of the improvement!

Everything was done very fast and excellent. The new walls and side walk look great. Bill is very nice to deal with.

My husband and I were referred to Bill Fenk and his company, Wall King, by a friend of our family. Bill gave us an estimate for the project in the summer of 2011, arriving promptly for a scheduled appointment to measure the driveway and walls. He also offered helpful suggestions and guidance as he surveyed the potential work area and incorporated some of those into his estimate. He was extremely friendly and easy going in that initial meeting - it was like talking to an old friend. Bill's estimate was extremely competitive with at least a half dozen other contractors who had provided us with estimates. Due to the overall expense of the project (nothing to do with Bill's estimate), my husband and I elected to postpone the work for one year to save some extra money. In the spring of 2012, I contacted Bill and he remembered us right away. We said we wanted to hire him to do the job and after revisiting his estimate and recalling our location's details, he told us that he would honor his 2011 quote (what a great surprise). We worked out a start date via phone calls, with Bill always promptly returning messages I left for him during the usual work day. Bill and his crew arrived on time on the agreed upon start date, and Bill spent some time right up front reviewing with us exactly what we had agreed upon before work got started. Bill and his team dove right in and by lunchtime they had already completed demolition of the old wall, finished the digging necessary to widen the area, and had laid significant amounts of gravel and fill. By mid afternoon, nearly the entire wall was built and by the end of the day, the wall was complete and they had performed a good cleanup. They came back the next day to complete the gravel and topsoil backfill and laid grass seed on the side where some lawn had to be removed to add width to the driveway. The crew was highly skilled and hard working, and Bill and his team checked in with my husband and I several times during the day to have us look over what they were doing before they moved on to the next phase of significant work. I cannot say enough good things about the job they did and their professionalism, skill and efficiency. I highly recommend hiring Wall King for any wall project you may have.

They arrive on time and finish the work in two days. They did a excellent job. I am completely satisfy with the work.

I am very disappointed with my overall experience with this company. I first contacted Wall King last year, after seeing a sign on someone's property. I called them to arrange for them to take a look at the work I needed done, and give me a estimate. He came (late) on Saturday morning, and looked at the property, gave me some suggestions, and then he took measurements, and came back the next week to review the estimate. We agreed on the estimate that day and I never seen him again. I called the company several times last year, and he told me that he would get to it. After this past winter not getting the work done last year, I called him again this past Saturday, they answered the phone, said let me call you back. Still waiting! I cannot comment on their work, for he has never done any for me. Be advised that the estimate is no guarantee the work will be preformed.

I called Wall King in early March and after a little phone tag, the owner Bill Fenk, scheduled time to come to our home and discuss our job on Saturday March 10. Originally, Bill was to arrive at 9 am Saturday but he phoned on Friday and asked if he could reschedule for 1 pm Saturday. Walk King was the fourth contractor that we had talked to, so we had an good idea of the features that we wanted. We were interested in a wall made of Versa-Lok weathered stone which costs a bit more than the standard non-weathered stone. Bill suggested that we get the standard stone and he and his crew would "weather" it for us and we'd save a few bucks. Bill left and my wife and I were discussing our options. Both of us liked Bill and his quote was very reasonable. As we were talking, the phone rings and it was Bill. Bill stated that most of his equipment was at a job site very near to our home and that if we could give him an answer fairly quickly that he could start our job on Monday or Tuesday because his other job wasn't starting until Wednesday. We gave Bill the green light. Monday morning March 12 after I got to work I called my wife at 8:30 and asked if she remembered to move her van out of the garage and onto the street so she wouldn't have any issue with Wall King's trucks and equipment. She told me that she had moved the van and that Bill and his crew had already been there for an hour and the old wall was gone. During the morning she sent me a couple pictures of the progress and she told me that Bill was going to try to finish the wall today. It's now 2:41 PM. I got home around 2 PM and the wall was done. It looked great. The weathering that Bill and his crew did was very nice. I don't think it could have gone any smoother. If you're looking for a good wall at a good price from a nice guy call Wall King.

I requested an estimate from Wall King for removal of an old railroad tie retaining wall and an old block retaining wall and installation of new versa-lok walls in their place. Bill responded very quickly and provided us with an estimate that was about what we were getting from other companies (I had no idea walls could be so expensive) however, Bill was really nice, took alot of time explaining what was going to be done, offered alterative solutions and seemed very professional. I was confident that they would do a good job so we hired Wall King to do the work. When they showed up to do the job, I was impressed. The work was done very quickly, each person involved was very friendly and professional, the old walls came down and the new walls went up really fast and look great! They even agreed at the last minute to dig a ditch to help direct and drain water that constantly runs through our property that was ending up in the basement. I am happy that we hired Wall King to do the job and would definitely recommend them to others who are looking for a good company to do this type of work.

UPDATE 30 May 2012 - Wall King completed the work on 2 May 2012 and I am very pleased with the results. Due to rain that morning the yard suffered the expected destruction that we hoped to avoid. Wall King did landscape the grass area that was destroyed and as of this review it is looking very good. The construction did encounter some additional cost due to the depth required to get to solid ground for the wall foundation. I considered this additional cost to be totally reasonable and was very pleased that he did the right thing in going deeper to make a solid and stable wall. Very professional! I would definetly use them again. I am posting a short video of the wall. As of Feb. 2012 I have not used this company. I signed an agreement in the summer of 2011 and after numerous delays by them, I finally told them to wait until the spring of 2012. I didn't want them tearing up the yard in very wet conditions. The price quoted and agreed upon was very good compared to his compition.

I obtained 3 estimates for a Vers-Lok retaining wall. When I called Wall King, Bill returned my call within a day or so and came to my house to evaluate the job within a week. After I had obtained the 3 estimates Wall King was extremely price competitive and actually my lowest bid. After I executed the proposal/agreement, Bill advised he would contact me a week or so before arriving to do the job. As promised he contacted about 4 days before and arrived on time the day of the work. His wall building crew did an awesome job!!! Bill is extremely personable and knowledgable.They have the equipment and experience to perform flawlessly!! I have never seen 3 craftsman work together as well as the Wall King guys. All were great, friendly and polite. They were extremely knowledgeable about how to build the wall correctly. I was very very pleased with my selection of Wall King. The anticipated plan was to complete the wall in about 2 days; his guys worked extremely hard and actually finished the wall in one day. No shortcuts either, I watched them all day long; they did exactly as I expected and requested; they were pleased to satisfy my requests. My wife left for work in the morning and when she returned home the wall was complete; she was amazed and very very pleased.I only could hope that everyone that i would hire could perform like these guys.I would highly recommend Wall King!!!!! They really know how to build an excellent wall. Their name says it all. These guys are "Wall Kings"!!!!!! Bill Fenk was very professional. He was very knowledgable and helpful. He did not make me feel that I had to commit to the project on the spot. He made me feel more relaxed that I could wait until the spring to have this job completed.

Called Bill aka Wall King to come to my house and do an estimate on an old retaining wall almost touching my house. I left a message and he called back later that night and we set up a time. He came over and looked at my wall and gave me two choices to replace the wall and estimates for both. One for a Versa Lok and the other is Redi Rock. We chose to go with the Redi Rock for the look of it. I thought the estimate were very reasonable compared to other ones I got. My wife and I chose Wall King because he had a plan on what he was going to do right when he saw the wall as the other ones did not. He is very organized and prompt with his responses. The work is scheduled to start this Monday August 8. We are very excited to get the retaining wall replaced. Will update the once the job is completed...

We had requested a bid from another company that was a referral from a friend. That owner kept adding additional costs. My husband saw a sign for Wall King. He contacted the company and they promptly came out and provided an estimate. The owner said he could return in 2 days. The owner came with his crew and all of his own personal equipment and materials to do the job. Wall King completed the job within the day, cleaned everything up and hauled all materials away. I would use them again and again. Just a fantastic experience

They came out when they said they would. They were very friendly and very professional. The estimate was for about $4000. It was given to me on paper the same day. It was very good and very clear. I had a very good experience. However, I went with someone who could do some landscaping also. Wall King did not offer that service.

Found Wall King on Angie's List, had multiple quotes. Wall King was the most professional and reasonable! He worked on our schedule, communicated well. The work was done on schedule and payment was made in full when job was done. Great job!

I called Wall King based on a neighbor's good experience after the first landscaper I had contacted never showed up. They came promptly, estimated the job accurately and gave me a start date that was within a week or so. They listened to my concerns and to my ideas, and made some design changes/improvements with my input. It only took them 3 days total. The crew was extremely professional. They were punctual and when they were done, they left a clean worksite. The time estimate and cost estimate were both accurate. I would definitely hire them again.

I received a verbal estimate a week prior and did not have to pay a deposit. They arrrived with 3 people, heavy equipment and tools promptly in the AM, and finished the job by the end of the day. Materials were very good, the workman were experienced and did a good job. The wall looks nice and it is well constructed.

The responsiveness was refreshing and was a major reason why we chose this company. They called back right away, were on time with the appointments set up to get basic information and set final plans for the design of the wall. They started exactly on the datea and time specified. They requested NOT to be paid until the job was completed and we were satisfied with the job. They asked us if they could remove a section of fence so they had easier access to haul materials which we agreed to (they replaced it at the end) and we agreed that they could remove a shrub for the same purpose - we were going to remove it anyway.

Very punctual, and came early. Took care of me right away.

I can't say enough about the work that he did. Everyone who comes past the house that I see always comments on the wonderful job he has done. He is so very professional and dependable. His work is excellent.
