Terminix - Newtown -Termite & Pest Control

Absolutely terrible experience. 1. $40 Deposit - The total amount billed to me was $540. However, I already paid the person who came for the evaluation $40 cash. Giving the man cash already seemed a bit unusual to me. I am not surprised it did not show up on my bill. 2. Workers Did Not Show Up - The workers were scheduled to come out between 8am and 12pm on 6/02. They did not show up. They did not call me. In fact, I had to call the Terminix regional office several times before anyone picked up the phone. 3. Workers Then Showed Up Unannounced - I never received a response from Terminix. The workers simply called me at 4pm (after I had left for work) informing me that they were they ready to perform the work. I frantically drove to my rental unit to let them in. 4. Phone Support Offered $25 Discount - I spent hours on the phone with Terminix discussing this situation. I missed several client meetings that day because of your service. All they offered was a $25 discount on $500 worth of work (which pretty much consisted of spraying for less than 1/2 hour). I spoke with customer representative #69814; he was very rude and unhelpful. AVOID TERMINIX AT ALL COSTS, ESPECIALLY THIS LOCATION! Anthony D.

I have been probably using the for eight years. They make sure I don't have bugs. They're consistent and reliable. Every so often, we'll get infestation with ants, every coming out of the season. I call them and within the day they get somebody here, within 20 minutes my ants are gone. The guy was actually here this morning. When I do need them for special treatment they were very responsive.

I have mixed feelings about this. I had my whole house done, inside and out. Holes drilled into the concrete, the whole nine yards. But a couple years later, I had a swarm in my kitchen. Desperate to stop the swarm, I pulled off the baseboard where they appeared to be coming from. I sprayed the daylights out of it with raid and called Terminix. When someone arrived two days later, they said they couldn't tell if the damage was old or new, and, since there were no "living" pests, they refused to pay for repairs.Did they expect me to live with swarming termites for two days until they got there ??!!! They did retreat that side of the house and I've not had any more issues. However, they did, in my opinion fail to uphold their promise to fix any damage done.

I am writing this review of Terminex because of the "F" given by another Angies List member. I hired them through T.V. ads and not Angies list. However, my experience has been so different from the other member's that I felt I ought to write my own. I thought I had a termite infestation because I found what appeared to be sawdust around my yard door-jamb; and that is what I called them about. The service representative (salesman), after examining my property, informed me that the problem was not termites. I had a carpenter ant infestation-apparently termites do not leave saw-dust behind (they build their nests with the stuff) carpenter ants do. I then contracted them to do more than I actually needed (termites, and every other pest you could think of: a total of $3000.00). After discussing the contract with my wife (I leave the content of that conversation to your imagination), I contacted their main office They had their salesman return and rewrite the contract to what I actually needed: clear the carpenter ants. ($750.00). I did this within the the 72 hour contract limitation period and there was no problem making the change. In fact, they were actually helpful, and I resigned a new contract. The service technician arrived on schedule and performed his work. It took several visits before the carpenter ant infestation was cleared, but it was, and I have not had a return since then. Now, their technician returns each quarter and treats the house perimeter. I have not had a problem since (over a year). The technician is very professional. I am not always home when he's scheduled and have had no problem rescheduling. Termini, of course, is a large corporation and service may not be consistent around the country-I don't know. All I can say is, I use them; they do their work in a professional manner; they are honest and not greedy (as far as I am concerned), and would (and, do) continue to use them; and I refer them to anyone who has a problem with insects or pests.

I used Terminix for pest control. I had a 50 dollar coupon. They did the job okay. It is just that they didn't tell you that they automatically schedule for follow up appointment and when the guy showed up at my house and I was at work and he acted like I was supposed to be home and then they tried to charge me for that. They were okay with the work. It is just that they automatically schedule you for follow up appointments and I wasn't told that. When the guy showed up at my house, he took it up on himself to do some spraying outside and without my consent and then they tried to charge me for it so I had to go back and forth before they finally got rid of that charge. They did the job, the work itself, I just had the issue. They were on time. They were professional. As long as they schedule me for one appointment at a time, I would use them.

I called to cancel my contract on Dec 4, 2014. I was told I would receive a phone call. On Dec 5, I sent an email. On Dec 11, I sent another email. I have not received a phone call, email or refund.

They are fine. I am on a contract with them.

We signed up for the Ultimate Protection Plan and paid the full annual balance upfront for a 10% discount. After three contacts with the company (one with the rep that signed us up (no return call), and two with customer service we are still getting a bill for the 10% difference. Additionally, when the home inspection was completed, no stickers were placed in the areas inspected and had to be placed by the service technician after much discussion that the inspection had already been conducted. We are currently very unhappy that we have not had the service a month and have had to follow up on the same billing issue multiple times. One positive note, they were quick to come out after my initial call for service and the first treatment did seem to work.

My experience with them was not good. The issue was never resolved by them so I had to go out and treat it myself. Then they signed up for an account and I told them I didn't want any more as it wasn't working. With the plan they would send people out and not even letting me know that they were coming. We would look outside and there would be somebody outside my door putting some powder down without me acknowledging or giving them permission to do so. They didn't get the job done, it was simply about a pool of dust out there when they would leave and the problem wasn’t resolved. I called them back a couple of times but they didn't call me back within that period and didn’t get the job done. They would end up showing up even when I don't give them confirmation to come on my property to do the work. I wouldn't hire them again. The actual person that showed up was fine but it was the company’s policy which was the problem.

They were fantastic. I looked at Angie's List and everyone contacted me and they responded. They came out and explained what they're going to do and when I told them my health issues, the manager came out and they discussed to me what chemicals they would be using and that they would be safe. They would have to do my house because I was living with the bed bugs and that they would have to do all my bedrooms upstairs. To make sure I don't have any and if they didn't spread, they told me all I would have to went through to prepare for that They were very, very thorough. And they were not only thorough; they were very concern that I wouldn't have any effects. I would have to leave the house for a day because of the chemicals. They contacted me later to see if everything is okay. They were very good. It is worth every penny.

I contacted the company for a termite inspection. The inspector visited and said I had termites in my patio door and drew up a contract for treatment. I did not sign this contract but made appointments with three highly-rated pest control companies to get their opinions. The inspectors from these three companies said that my patio door had water damage but no termites.

I used them for several years and I was quite satisfied.

They drilled holes all around my house and set up traps with baits. When a pipe burst, I found a lot of damage that they had not prevented. When I asked them to help repair the damages, they would not be helpful. I am now taking care of the problem myself for a much less price.

It turned out very well. They come out quarterly and I pay them monthly.

I like their staff members; they are very good.

Their management is not good. Their scheduling is not well organized.

The salesman who came to inspect the home was very nice and I trusted him. He explained that a special Insulation for my attic would be needed that is laced with Boric Acid. This was to make all the mice get out of their nests and get stuck in the glue traps or snap traps. He also said that prior to the insulation being blown in, a specialist will come and find all the points of entry. It has come to my attention that this was never done. They blew the insulation in over my existing insulation. The new insulation does not penetrate the existing insulation, therefore the mice are still happy and content inside of their nests. Also, the points of entry were never looked for and therefore never sealed. This then allowed all mice looking for a home to enter mine. I have called customer service constantly about my dissatisfaction with the services provided. All they are willing to do for me is provide a free year of laying down mice traps. I have spent over 1100 dollars with this company on mice issues. The last tech to come to my home, Mark, admitted to me that the insulation was incorrectly applied. He advised that my old insulation should have been removed, check and seal point of entry, and then the Boric Acid Insulation should have been blown in to the attic. I am still fighting the company on getting refund for all services rendered, especially for the very pricey insulation which has not solved my problem. Customer at normal and corporate level has not been helpful either.

The guy who comes to do the service does everything I ask him to do. He is generally punctual and is professional. Now the dislikes. Terminix comes without scheduling an appointment and then sends me a bill. I live in a townhouse in the city. All they can do when I'm not here are the 24 feet along the sidewalk. They say that is their system, that they can't set it up to confirm an appointment with me prior to coming. They say all I have to do is call them when I get the bill and make an appointment and they will come service. It's aggravating. Plus right now they show I have a balance due because they came and sprayed the sidewalk when I wasn't home and I refuse to pay until they come and actually service my house. It's scheduled for next week. My 1 year contract will be fulfilled and I will not be using them for pest control going forward. It's aggravating that I find out they came by them sending me an invoice for a service I did not receive. I've gone through this every quarter for the last 9 months.

The tech walk in and said I did'nt have flea....he's six feet tall and can see minute fleas from up there?????? I have animals and they had fleas, thus the house had to have fleas! We were being bit.......but again he knows everything!

I have used them for about 10 years. They spray the perimeter of the yard and the eves. They are very thorough.

Terminix does a good job. I have no complaints about the service, they do quite well. I used them for years and years, and years, we've been in this house for 20 years and on our previous house for 15 years.

The nicest part for me is that they will call before the quarterly service to make sure that we are available. He comes when I know the kids won't be around, but I'll home. If you have an issue they will come out to address the issue and I find that to be a high quality service.

They did a very good job. I have a yearly contract with them for 10 years.

When I first started the quarterly extermination plan with Termnix they were fine. They came to the house and sprayed the outside as well as the interior. They were courteous, polite and professional; no muss, no fuss no problem. Somewhere along the line they fell asleep at the wheel and just started billing us without performing the necessary service. I would find I had been billed but could not remember ever seeing an exterminator show up at my house. They explained they had just done the outside of the house because nobody was home. We had no idea they were supposed to be coming so how could we have planned to be there? My wife and I both work. You have to get to our back yard through the house so they could not have done the outside of the house only part of the outside of the house yet we were charged the full price. The first time this happened they were able to reschedule and come out to perform the service. The next time it happened we were not so fortunate. I called to re-schedule the appointment and they gave me a date when they could come back out. The appointment was for 10:00 - 12:00. I waited around but the technician never showed up. He did not call until 1:30 to say he was "stuck in traffic" and by then I had to go back to work. I tried calling him but never received a call back. I tried calling the local Terminix office and though they were sympathetic they were unable to put in me in touch with either a technician or a manager who could help me. They said someone would call me to reschedule the appointment but nobody ever did. Finally I said I would cancel the service unless I received a call back the next day from either a manager or a technician to reschedule the appointment. The lady on the phone was very sympathetic and said my request was reasonable but no call ever came. So I called the following morning and terminated by business relationship with Terminix.

I like that they same guy usually comes out every time and he is thorough.
