Contacted Michael Carr via email for an estimate. He responded within 24 hours and scheduled a site visit within the week. Pros and cons of designs and materials discussed in detail to validate our own research. Michael sent us an estimate via email within 36 hours, and also advised us in terms of scheduling that he would be at a garage door convention (!) during specified dates, thus unavailable. We agreed on a date. After scheduling the date, but prior to the installation date, one of Michael's team stopped by to precisely measure the framing so it could be pre-cut, treated and painted prior to installation for maximum water resistance. Michael had said he hand selects wood for grain clarity. The team arrived on the scheduled date and completed the job in one day as planned. The results are as expected.

Everything went well and exactly according to what we had been told. They were proactive in contacting us to let us know when each part of the work was to be performed. The results were exactly as we expected. A great experience from start to finish.

I had backed my car into garage door. The door was pushed out and the bottom panel came off the track.. Within 1 1/2 hrs of my call Michael was here and repaired my door. He also checked the entire door and found another problem and fixed it. It's working better than ever. A few days later I thought I heard a noise when I opened the door. Michael came out within a few hours of my call. The door was OK. Mr Carr was friendly and professional. I was very impressed with the fast response.

I got him off of Angie's List. His price was reasonable. He was very timely, very fair and explained everything that he was doing. He gave me some hints on what to look for and things.

This was my first use of Angie's list. Michael A Carr was local so I asked for an estimate. Michael came and gave me a fair quote. I got a steel insulated door. It arrived painted to match my house. John installed it . The job was neat . That was a little over a month ago. The door works fine; it looks great; I am a satisfied customer. I recommend this company. Thanks Angie!

My double garage door torsion spring broke on Sunday night and the two cables on either side also broke loose. I have never had garage door work done, so when I did a quick search I saw that Michael Carr had great ratings. I could not take the time Monday morning to make multiple calls to get estimates, so when I was told over the phone the cost would most likely be between $300-$400 I jumped on it thinking that if someone else was going to do it for $50-$100 less than I would be okay with that. I was also put in the schedule for early Thursday afternoon, but told a tech would come out sooner, if available. The next day, Tuesday morning, I received a call telling me someone could come out Tuesday afternoon. He did at 2pm and the total cost was $275 with a 1 year warranty on the spring. The tech also went over some standard maintenance. Everything is working great so far.

The previous comments about services preformed pretty much says it all, so I'll just repeat, they did a great job!

Michael was on-time, communicated well and was able to solve our problem quickly and without trying to upsell us on an entirely new system which we did not need at this time.

John did a great job. He arrived on time and did a very thorough job. When he was finihed he explained all of the features including the safety precautions. I did not have an automatic opener prior to this. I'm very pleased with the result and would highly recommend this company.

Serviceman came out on schedule, replaced garage door opener quickly and with good results. Told me to call office for estimate on actual door. I scheduled with Mr. Michael Carr who told me that, unless I wanted an upgrade, I did not actually need a new door. Imagine a contractor talking one out of spending money! Rest assured that when the time for a new door arrives, Michael Carr will get my business. . . and I'll go out of my way to recommend him to friends and neighbors.

The door fits perfectly and is exactly as promised. The installer showed up when promised and was pleasant, although a bit rough around the edges. He definately knew his job though and the door fits perfectly and the work was done neatly. Would definately recommend them.

I'm happy to say that my overall experience with this company was terrific from start to finish. I found them on Angie's List and selected them because of their ratings and location. I wasn't disappointed. Ruby, who scheduled my appointment, was friendly, professional, and informative about the available garage door opener options and the process. On the appointed day, the installer John showed up right on time and got to work. When he was finished, he carefully explained all the features of my new and wonderfully quiet belt-drive garage door opener. This was a very positive experience and I would recommend this company without reservation.

I thought he was fine. We just needed him to replace the garage door opener so he came and assessed that. He made a few repairs to the door itself and implemented the new opener. I don’t have anything to compare them to but I think they were good.

They came on time, got to work and it seemed in no time had our door done. Michael and Kevin were very dilligent in their work. It was very cold and they "kept on going!".Amazing!!

We have been living in our home for almost four years and have never had our double garage door maintained within that time. The stand alone garage was between ten and fifteen years old and likely had never had any maintenance performed on it. With time, the door began to stall going up or down. Lubing and greasing did not improve the overall performance. My wife contacted Mr. Carr to visit and fix the door based upon reviews on Angie's list. She said he would be by in the afternoon. He arrived promptly and within minutes was able to identify the numerous circumstances that caused our stalling garage door. He clearly explained the circumstances and identified two solutions: first, what was needed to stop the door from stalling; and second to increase the overall quality, performance, and longevity of the door based upon its size and the components it required but did not have (it appeared that the previous owner or contractor who installed the door had had cost-cutting in mind, rather than a properly functioning door). After an hour or so, he let me know he was done, explained everything that he had done, and suggested minor means of maintenance. The garage door now works properly, runs smoother, and is quieter than before. It also appears to be more sound and sturdy.

They did a great job and I am very happy with them.

Two installers arrived on time. They were friendly and professional. Michael Carr stopped by to check on how the job was progressing but did take one of the installers with him when he left for another job. The remaining installer finished the job on his own. This did cause the job to take longer but I was previously told that it may take all day. They did a good job and I am happy with the results.

The experience for us as homeowners was excellent, from our first phone call to completion of the job. First, Ruby, who answered the phone, is not just an efficient scheduler--she provided an excellent overview of the job, good rough estimate and timeframe. Second, we then had a chance to check out the General Doors web site and peruse the various options. Third, Mike came over promptly and helped us make our final choices. We paid a deposit on the spot (having been prepared by Ruby for the approximate amount). Then the company scheduled installation within 9 days (because of the homeowners' time constraints). Fourth, at our request, Mike referred a specific electrician to us who would install two outlets after the doors were in place. (Note that we were not pressured to use the electrician known to Mike--but we had not yet, after 12 years in this house, found a really good electrician.) Fifth, John did the actual installation precisely as scheduled, cleaned up the work site, and showed us how everything works.

We got estimates from 2 local companies. The other company's price was much higher -- nearly twice as much -- despite offering us their "hometown discount" since they are located in the same city as our house. Mr. Carr's company is much smaller, but instead of dealing with a big company, we got to deal directly with an expert in the field, we got a much better price, and we got outstanding service and a great result. He came by to provide an estimate and instead of trying to sell us more than we needed, he told us we didn't need to replace the hardware, just the 4 wood panels on the 2 doors (the 3rd of our 3 garage doors was, for some reason, in excellent condition, while on the other 2 the wood had separated along the "finger joints"). He said that although most doors of that age would need all-new hardware, rollers, hinges, etc, was able to re-use those metal parts on our doors because they'd been well maintained over the years (I had lubricated them a couple of times in the past 12 years since the house was built -- I guess that was enough). That helped him keep the cost down. He also offered to paint the door panels, or said we could paint them, to further keep cost down. We elected to do the painting, and he provided us with detailed instructions (priming, caulking, and finish painting, including details about which kind of primer, brand names, how to caulk them, etc). He first fixed one of our garage door openers. We thought it needed to be replaced -- it wouldn't close all the way, and couldn't be adjusted -- but Mr. Carr realized it only needed a circuit board replaced, and he said the opener was otherwise in good condition. He replaced the board, and the opener worked perfectly. Then, as promised, he delivered the new wooden panels -- 8 in total, 4 for each door. They were unpainted except for a factory "dew coat", a light coating of spraypaint applied at the factory to keep out moisture during storage and shipment. We then primed, caulked, and re-primed the panels (a lot of work, but we were trying save money). We had hired a painter to re-paint our french doors and repair some wood rot on the garage and french door frames and trim, so we let the painting company put the final coats of paint on those 8 panels. As agreed, we then called Mr. Carr to install the newly-painted doors. He arrived as scheduled, installed the doors, and also installed a new garage door opener on our 3rd garage door (we had previously had just the 2 openers; one of the doors we opened manually). In total, he repaired 1 broken garage door opener, installed 1 new garage door opener, and supplied and installed 2 garage doors. He also provided good advice and did it all at a very competitive price, and with excellent customer service skills. We are extremely happy with the results, and wish we'd had the old doors replaced years ago.

One of the best experiences of my life. Mr. Carr is a master when it comes to garage doors and he certainly takes his craft seriously. He personally came to the site more than once to verify measurements and discuss project options. More than likely, he made less money on my project than he anticipated due to the extra time involved in planning. Yet, I could tell that he had an enjoyable time working on my project. His installers were excellent as well.

There were some major surprises because of shoddy workmanship on the part of the original builder and subsequent modifications. However, Michael informed us immediately, explained what was necessary and helped us quickly find a carpenter who did a great job in fixing the surprises!

They came when said they would, called first to make sure I was home. He was very courteous, nice and fixed it right away.
