Robert Stanley Asphalt Maintenance

I contacted the company approximately June or July 2012 and they came out to give me an estimate fairly quickly. I was not present at the time of estimate (my 22 year old son was there) and didn't receive any information on when the service might be completed. I faxed back my acceptance but never received any verbal or written notification as to when the service would be performed. After waiting 2-3 weeks, I called the company to relate that I had faxed my form and wondered if they had received it as I had not heard back. They mentioned that they had indeed received it but that it would be several months before they could fit it into their schedule (probably sometime in September). The service was performed in September as promised. It looked nice originally but since then I have noted many, many new small cracks developing in the driveway. To be fair, my driveway is about 20 years old and never sealed prior. But, it was generally in excellent condition with only a few (3-4) very minor cracks recently appearing which I individually sealed myself prior to the service. I had decided to seal the entire driveway at this point as I had noted these very few small cracks and thought I could possibly lengthen the lifetime of the driveway by 5-6 years prior to requiring total redo. I really don't know if it is showing normal wear and deterioration or if this process may have actually accelerated the deterioration. I just don't know. I had also some painted basketball lines on the driveway years prior which were initially covered by the sealing process. However, they have now reappeared as the product has seemingly dissipated immediately over these lines. This may be normal also. Not sure. Overall, I was slightly disappointed with the initial lack of communication about scheduling, but as mentioned, and to be fair, I was not present at the time of estimate. I can only go on what my son told me (that was that there no mention as to timing for scheduling) and I just assumed (incorrectly) that it would be done within a few weeks of estimate. I should have called to verify. From what I see at present, I do not believe I would do this again as the driveway is continuing to deteriorate (seeing more cracks) much faster than I expected (again maybe my fault for not having sealed it ever before). Guess 20 years may not a bad lifetime for a driveway anyway? I really thought the cost was fairly expensive but felt it might be worth paying a bit more for a "better product" than other companies use as described in Robert Stanley's sales ads.

My only problem with them is they only sprayed the sealer on the driveway. If I only knew, I probably would not have used it. I prefer to have someone who will lay and spread it. It would not have been my choice if I would have realized that that is what he did. I have had a new driveway done a year before, and it started to come loose so I wanted to seal on top of it to try to hold it all together. I would have preferred a thicker layer. I would not use the same company because I prefer a better product.

Shortly after I signed up for the big deal I received a phone call to confirm the work that was needed. During that time I discussed the possibility of patchwork being needed. They encouraged me to take a picture of the questionable area and email it to them, which I did. One phone call later, it was confirmed that they would be able to make the repair. Since it was so early in the year, I was told that they would call back in a few months to schedule the appointment. They did call back, set up the appointment and completed the work. There were no issues in completing the job.

As usual, these services are weather dependent, so someone from their office called a couple of times to postpone. After rescheduling a couple of times, the crew arrived, applied the sealant, hung the bill on my doorknob, and left. I was home at the time working, so it didn't bother me that they didn't try to contact me before leaving. After inspecting their work, I realized it would have been nice if they had knocked on my door ahead of time; large cracks in my driveway showed up strikingly with the fresh coat of sealant. If the crew had mentioned this I could have had them caulk first. Maybe next time..

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I was very satisfied with it. The price was slightly more because we have a 3-car driveway. The job was done on time.

My experience with the seal coating was an example of "You get what you pay for." I purchased a groupon for $189.00 to have the driveway seal coated. After waiting for a long-time to hear back from the company to schedule a date, we finally worked out a time for him to come. He no-showed the first time he was to be here, without a phone call to let us know he couldn't make it. When he finally showed up, he came, poured the new topcoat, and simply took off. He didn't give us further intructions or tell us how long it would be before we could walk or drive on it. After the seal coat dried, it looked WORSE than it did before it was poured. When we contacted him about it, he said that it was due to the condition of the driveway before it was poured. I agree, it was in poor shape before he came. However, HE SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST WARNED US THAT THIS SERVICE WOULD MAKE IT LOOK WORSE, NOT BETTER. I really did not know, and would have had no problem upgrading the service to doing a full repair since it needed done. This was a complete customer service disaster. Simply taking five minutes to explain that we would not get good results would have made us grateful customers. I've never needed a new driveway before and had no idea what to expect. However, he did show up and do exactly what was paid for. I would not recommend him simply because he didn't bother to take five minutes to do a basic walk-through, and I was competely disappointed with the results. It is on me though, since I didn't do the research and ask the right questions ahead of time.

I'm very happy with my driveway. It was not in very good shape and looks 100% better and I don't think anyone else could have matched the price. Would definitely use them again.

They were careful to apply sealant when conditions were right (unlike the people who show up at your doorstep with a load of sealant they have to get rid of). They worked with us to find a time that was convenient for us. That was important because you, or your guests, can't drive on the driveway for a few days. I'd highly recommend them.

They did a very good job. The finished product was neat and professional-looking. They took the appropriate precautions to avoid overspray on the house and garage door.

Purchased as a "deal" through Angie's list on 5/19/12. Got a phone call shortly thereafter from the company telling me that they would schedule me ASAP when they were in my area. Heard from them again in June asking if they could come that day & said "yes"!. They never showed up. Was told that myself and another customer were contacted & the other person responded before me. (Couldn't understand why they didn't call back to tell me this.) From this point, I sent numerous e-mails inquiring as to when the work would be done. Was told they would get to me ASAP. Another date was finally scheduled & that day their equipment broke. It came to the point where I finally e-mailed and gave a date that I wanted the job completed by or my money refunded, as it was now almost 2 months since I purchased the "deal". The work was finally done 7/16/12. I wasn't here when the work was done, so I can't comment on the professionalism. Driveway looks ok.

OVERALL I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE PROJECT AND ALSO WITH THE LEVEL OF COMUNICATION AND COSTUMER SERVICE...WE HAD TO RESCHEDULE THE PROJECT MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO BAD WEATHER...AND EVERY TIME THEY CALLED IN ADVANCE TO LET ME KNOW IF THEY WILL BE ABLE TO COME OR NOT...WILL USE AGAIN FOR SURE...THANK YOU

He was very good and I was very pleased with the work that he has done. He was right on time and explained everything that they would be doing and it didn't take them long to finish the job.

The finished quality and the price were fair. I was not happy when they actually showed up to do it one day without calling me first. Besides that, in the end they did a good job.

The provider contacted me via email and phone after I placed the order. We rescheduled one time due to the weather, but all went well and the job looked good.

I responded to an Angie's List Deal to have my driveway sealed and was contacted by Robert Stanley the same day. Mr. Stanley explained the process and the material that would be used. He told me he could not give me a date at that time because he was waiting to see if he would be contacted by other people in my area and then he would call me. He called a few days later and told me he would be here on 4/17. They were very punctual. Bob and his assistant were friendly but professional. The job was done in a short period of time. The driveway looks great and the tape they stretched across the driveway on either side of the sidewalk worked well to keep people and cars off the driveway and is still in place. When I had the driveway sealed 3 or 4 years ago the tape lasted about 4 hours. Bob checked back with me the following day to make sure I was satisfied with his work. I am very pleased with the work done by this company. I did not hesitate to recommended them to friends and will continue to do so.

It is now July 31, 2011 and I have had no further contact with the company. I am disappointed at not receiving my estimate and have committed to another company on Angie's List.

They arrived quickly and promptly to assess the driveway. Based on this assessment and the measurements of the driveway they provided a quote and days that were available in the schedule. We agreed on a date. A few days before they called to confirm. They arrived on time and did a great job.

They were friendly, very upbeat and very professional. However, I went with another contractor.

He does asphalt sealing on driveways. He looked at my driveway and said he could seal it but he didn't think it was worth sealing. He thought I should just get it repaved. I have to commend him for that because he could have just done the work and taken the money. He turned down a job really. He came when he said he would.

Vince came and explained the petroleum based product and was very professional.

Vince came and gave a free estimate of services (we didn't have to be home). Then there was a follow up call with info and price. Took a little longer than expected before they came to do the work, but was worth it.

Despite a mix-up in scheduling at the beginning, R. Stanley Asphalt Maintenance came through with good service, arriving promptly on the second scheduled date. Price was highly competitive and work was done efficiently and without mess.

The owner came out to do an estimate within a few days after I called. After I accepted the bid, the work was done within 3 weeks and they even gave me a weeks notice prior to them coming to do the work. They showed up on time and were done quickly, and were very careful with the application of the sealant. I was very happy with the outcome and will definitely have them do the next sealcoat.

This company is very professional and punctual. The job was very well done. I would recommend there services. You will not be disappointed.

With the weather we called it off and they are scheduled to do the work in a week or so. We were very pleased with his attitude and work ethic. He saw our situation and different things that needed special details done. He has called every now and then to see if we are ready to do the work. My husband's truck leaks oil and he has to do special cleanup there. He saw all the things that needed to be done and some of them we were not even aware of.
