My wife woke up the morning of April 1 to a badly leaking water heater. She called me (I was on a business trip) and asked what to do. I told her to shut off the water and gas and call a plumber. There was a sticker from Mr. Waterheater on the old one, so she called the number. They told her they would be out within a few hours. They gave her several options of tanks and warranties. They showed up right on time and replaced the water heater. They also noted that the old water heater had an pressure relief valve that emptied into a bucket that had to be emptied manually. (This is because our house has a back flow preventer on the incoming water line, and pressure builds up when the water heater heats the water in the tank.) They recommended installing an expansion tank in the system to prevent pressure from building up and causing the pressure relief valve to open. They gave a very reasonable price for doing this additional work, so we told them to go ahead. They arrived very promptly to perform emergency service, charged a very reasonable price for their work, and did a top-notch job. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Arrived right time. Completed the installation. Left the area clean and orderly. Probably could have gotten the work done for a few dollars less but I am completely happy with the service provided for the price paid.

Do to the limitations of the job site, Mr. Waterheater was the only location we could find that had a heater that would fit. They were able to come the next day to replace heater. They were on schedule. The work was done professionally. They cleaned up after themselves and hauled away the old heater. I would use them again.

On Thursday, April 18, 2013, my wife stayed home in the afternoon to let the Mr. Waterheater technician in to install the water heater. The appointment was scheduled for a time between 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The Mr. Waterheater technician never arrived. My wife was never called to explain why they weren't there. My wife called their office after 3:00 pm and she was told the company has us scheduled for 4:00 pm. She said the technician was in a different city and could be at our home around 4:10 pm. My wife called me at work to update me on the situation. I called the Mr. Waterheater office and spoke with the same person my wife talked to. I got the same information - the office had our appointment listed as 4:00 pm and the technician could be there by 4:10 pm. The Mr. Waterheater office person apoligized but could do no better than the 4:10 pm time. My wife andI had a 6:00 pm appointment that evening so 4:10 pm was too late for us. I told the person from Mr. Waterheater that I was extremely disappointed in their handling of the appointment and I canceled the entire order. It's unfortunate because Mr. Waterheater had the best installed price I had found. Despite the attractive price, I would not deal with this location again as they couldn't maintain a simple scheduled appointment. If someone wants to use this service, I highly recommend calling the office several times the day of the visit just to make sure they're on track. They need this assistance as apparently they can't manage their own schedule. I am very disappointed and do not recommend this contractor.
Description of Work: On April 15, 2013, I called this Mr. Waterheater location to schedule a water heater installation in my home. I spoke with a man named Rodger. He thoroughly described the work and price. We agreed to an appointment for Thursday, April 18, 2013 between the hours of 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.

Response from Mr. Waterheater
Thank you for your review. We are sorry that your experience with our company was less than favorable and ended on such a negative note. Customer satisfaction is always our goal and we strive to provide the best service possible. Unfortunately, in this instance there was a mix up in the time when we were to be at your home for installation of the hot water tank. Our technicians are usually in and out of a customer's home in about an hour but we understood that you had another appointment and felt pressed for time. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. MrWaterheater

Called at 10pm on a Sunday night and left a message with operator for service. Received a call back 10 minutes later confirming I would receive a call the next morning before 8:30am with a time for the appointment. Received a call at 8:15am with a two hour window. Two men arrived shortly after the start of the timeframe and went over my options with me with the old tank (which was leaking and old so I was pretty confident needed replaced). The men were very friendly and upfront about pricing and the included warranty (1 year labor, 6 year on the tank). They had the new one in and the old one out in about 45 minutes. There was a little trash left behind from the packing on the new tank, but wasn't a big deal. Very happy with the service and would use again (though obviously I hope I have no need to).
Description of Work: Had installed a new 40 gallon gas hot water heater ($499), expansion tank ($130), and had them haul the old tank away ($10). Prices included installation and tax.

I woke up to no hot water and a leaking hot water tank. The water was pouring out into our basement. I called Mr. Waterheater at 9:30 AM and they told me that they could be at my house between 11:30 and 2:30. They showed up between this time window and called before they came. The gentleman explained that we needed a new expansion tank as well as a water heater. The job was done promptly, quickly and efficiently.

I gave a call after reading the reviews on Angie's List and having heard from others that they really are the people to call for water heaters. I gave a call and they called me back within an hour. Scheduling the appointment was easy and they have hours on weekends too for the 9-5 crowd. They informed me of when they would call for the exact time of arrival and there was someone arriving within minutes of the time said (can't ask for anything better). He reviewed what was in place and gave a recommendation based on space and use and within an hour he had the new water heater in and hauled away the old one. This is the first real work we have had to do on our home and I am so glad it was this easy and straight forward.

Service was prompt and timely. I was very impressed with the entire process from start to finish including the professionalism and friendliness of the service technicians. In fact, one of the workers tightened a pipe joint under my leaking sink and saved me the cost of a plumber. I will continue to use Mr. Waterheater as needed in the future- and thank you Angie's List!

Mr. Waterheater came out on a Friday to inspect our water heater that was continuously leaking from the pressure release valve. They determined it was the pressure reducing valve coming into house and replaced it and the pressure release valve. Then I checked out our basement on Monday and found that there was very hot water everywhere. Mr. Waterheater came out that afternoon and determined that the thermometer in the water heater had gone bad. They replaced the water heater and expansion tank the next day. Both technicians that came out were very friendly and informative. The price was reasonable but higher than I was expecting because it was a power vent water heater. The technician was very upfront about the cost and reasons which I appreciated.

Discovered that the waterheater was leaking in the morning (9:00am-10:00am). Looked on Angie's list for someone to contact that was located in our general area. Looked at the review information that was given. The infomation was good and the approximate price was reasonable. Called Mr. Waterheater and explained the problem. They were able to send someone that afternoon to replace it. This all took place within about four hours. My wife and I were happy and satisfied with their promptness, work, and cost.
Description of Work: Turned on/off valves for water and natural gas when appropriate.Removed the old leaking waterheater. Replaced with new waterheater of the same size. Made all the necessary connections-natural gas, hot water line, cold water line, and vent pipe. Filled the tank, set the temperature, and explained pertinent directions. Took away the old waterheater for a small fee ($10).

Our old water heater stopped providing enough hot water. It was about 12 years old. I called around and estimates ranged from about $600 installed (Mr Waterheater) to more than a $1000. They arrived on time as promised, removed the old water heater and installed a new one. Code for water heaters in Pittsburgh/Allegheny County has changed. An expansion tank is now required for all water heater installs. They were able to install a new one. The additional cost to meet code was about $160. Overall, compared to other estimates and promises I am extremely satisfied with Mr Waterheater and would most certainly use them again, probably in another 10 or 12 years

Mr Waterheater were really good. They were prompt and that was necessary because it was a Saturday or Sunday that the water heater decided to break. Because of that I think we paid a premium but I don't remember what that was. One of the things they don't do is get rid of the old water heater. They don't take it away for you. I think he finally agreed to put it on the curb, and within half an hour of him putting it out it was gone. They did a fine job and got us an adequate new water heater.

My hot water tank broke and it was under warranty. I called the manufacture and they confirmed that it was under warranty and it was broke. I called one company and they said they would be able to handle the claim. I also had a coupon for the work through my Angies list account. The company said they would be able to send someone out the next day. It was winter and this was a good thing. When they got here I saw that it was Mr Waterheater which is owned by the same overall company. They did not accept the coupon. While replacing the tank they could not completely drain the tank so they decided to take off the boiler valve in the middle of my basement. This flooded my basement causing water damage on the walls. I then had to try and clean up the water with towels, a vacuum, and what ever else I could find. The time to clean the area and now the need to replace part of the walls is why I would not recommend using them in the future.

On Christmas Day I noticed that my hot water wasn't as hot as usual. My friend's husband came over and relit the pilot light for me and it was fine. I went a way for a few days after Christmas, returning the night of Dec. 30. When I went downstairs to do laundry, I noticed a small puddle of water under the water heater, which was about 8 years old. When I was doing research on Google about failing water heaters, I read that if there's water leaking out of the water heater, it's probably too late to do anything but replace it. So I went to Angie's List and found Mr. Waterheater. Their ratings were excellent and I had a friend from work who I knew had used them. I called them the night of Dec. 30th and actually reached a live person, who paged the plumber on duty. We had a frustrating call because his cell phone kept dropping off (it took about 8 calls to get everything settled). But finally it was set and I was on their calendar for the next day, Dec. 31. BTW, I learned that the water heater I had, which was a Whirlpool, had been recalled by the manufacturer. The guys came a little earlier than expected, before I had had a chance to go out and shovel. I offered to do that for them but they said not to worry. They went about their work in the basement, cleaned up the mess pretty well, and by midday I had hot water again. Also, the water heaters they use are made in the United States, which I really appreciate. The price was precisely what the guy on the phone had told me it would be, down to the penny. I will definitely use Mr. Waterheater again and recommend them to anyone who needs their service.

The Mr. Waterheater technicians arrived punctually. I showed them where everything was located. They explained to me how the bladder tank and the pressure regulator attached to the pipe coming in from the main worked. Then they went about their work. When they finished they explained to me what they had done, and made sure I was satisfied. I paid by credit card, and they left. I was very satisfied with the whole experience and I would use them again.

Our HW heater died and got an estimate from a local plumbing company for approx. $2000. Mr. Waterheater came the next day and installed a high quality HW heater for half the price. Our HW heater is a bit more expensive because it does not vent through the chimney. It was in general a great experience from start to finish. I tried other installers to quote a high efficiency furnace, and every one was 40% or more cheeper than Mr. Waterheater. But our basement did not allow for the height of the more efficient designs. Mr. Waterheater was cheeper for the generic install and within 24 hours we had hot water. If all you are after is cheep, then go here. If you want anything else go elsewhere and you can get it for less.

Response from Mr. Waterheater
We are not sure what the customer means by "generic". Mr. Waterheater installed a 40 gallon/12 year Bradford White water heater. Bradford White is an American made water heater, and the company has been making water heaters for over 100 years. We also checked the invoice, and the water heater (12 year warranty) and water shut-off valve were installed for $674.97. The customer stated that the charge was for approximately $900.00. We are not sure how everyone was "40% more cheaper than Mr. Waterheater" on high efficient units. We did not quote anything but a standard, energy efficient water heater.
