About a year and a half ago, I had no hot water in the shower while I was readying myself for work. I found Mr. Waterheater on Angie's list and called them immediately. They arrived that morning and advised me that I needed a new thermocouple, and that though my tank was nearing the end of it's life (it was at that time more than ten years old), I could probably get another year or so out of it before having to replace it if I went ahead with the relatively minor repair. I decided to take the service technician's advice. On Sunday, 11/24/2013, I noticed a leak in my 12-year old, 50 gallon hot water heater. With Thanksgiving guests coming, I called to inquire about the possibility of replacing the tank prior to the holiday. I called at 7 AM, got a service advisor who took the specs of my tank and told me that I would be receiving a call before 8:30 AM. They actually called before 8:30 AM to advise me that I currently had a 50-gallon tank (they checked their records) rather than a 40-gallon tank and that it would cost $50.00 more than the quoted price. At exactly 8:30 AM, I received a call telling me that I could expect the technicians between 11:45 AM and 1:00 PM. They arrived shortly before noon. The technicians were very professional; the assessed the situation and told me that it was actually the expansion tank that was leaking and it would cost $110 to replace. They showed me exactly where the leak was occurring. However, because of the age of my tank, I went ahead with the new tank installation as well. The technicians were efficient, respectful of my home, and courteous. They drained the tank, had it out, and a new one replaced within an hour. They checked all the faucets to determine if I had adequate pressure. There was a problem with the hot water pressure in one of the bathrooms. They explained that debris from the old tank had probably dislodged and was blocking the pipe to the sink, but they worked until it was satisfactory to me. With the new 50-gallon tank with a 12-year warranty, the new expansion tank, regulator and backflow preventer, an installation, my total came to $799.97. The company charges $10.00 to haul the old tank away but I was able to use my $10.00 "Angie's List" coupon, so the haul-away cost me nothing. Having used this company twice, I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Replaced my 12-year old 50-gallon gas water heater with a new one (same brand), along with the existing regulator, expansion tank and backflow preventer.

They were very good. Our water heater had started leaking and we had previously used another company, they were going to charge us a large amount to replace it. The price was great. We would use him again.

Answered my call immediately (I talked to a real person!) Scheduled me same day and had the work done before lunch. We have a tight space to work in but they were prompt, efficient, and friendly and had the work done in less than one hour. There was normally a $10 fee to haul away the old water heater, but i used my Angie's List $10 off coupon and they took it free. Couldn't possibly ask for better service. I will recommend them to anyone in need of a new water heater. Just a wonderful Top Notch Company. Glad I found them on Angie's List.

Although I did not buy my water heater from Mr. Waterheater, I had heard good things about them from both my sister and a coworker who had previously used them. My water heater is less than two years old, so I was pretty sure it wasn't a serious problem. I had just had some floors refinished in my house, and after looking through the water heater book, I realized that the fumes from the floors could possibly have caused my water heater to shut off for safety reasons. Mr. Waterheater walked me through a few simple steps over the phone, even though he knew that I hadn't purchased the water heater from him. After giving him the model, serial number and a report on what the light on the front of the tank was doing, he had me unplug it, wait 20 seconds and plug it back in again. It started up instantly and put an end to three days of cold showers for me.

My experience went exceptionally well. I called about my leaking water heater at 7:00 am and by 10:00 a technician was there to replace my 17 year old heater. By 11:30 he was finished, and I was on with my day. The man I spoke to on the phone and the technician (John) explained the process and items that could impact the price from the beginning. John was polite and professional. I would recommend them in the future.

Response from Mr. Waterheater
The repair did take longer than we had anticipated, but we had only charged the customer for a service call ($75) and 1-1/2 hours of labor ($105). Our technician had about 2-1/2 hours on the job, and over a hour travel time...from Export to North Versailles (for parts) to the job in Gibsonia. Our on-call technician had approximately a 1/2 hour on the phone, trying to help the customer get the tank up and running on Friday night. I had approximately 15-20 minutes on the phone on Saturday morning, trying to help the customer get the tank to produce hot water, which would have avoided a trip by a technician from Mr. Waterheater. While our technician was there, I spent (at our office) about 1-1/2 hours on the phone with our technician, as well as with Bradford White's technical support. Mr. Waterheater had approximately 6-7 hours involved in the job between the technicians and myself. All this was an attempt to get the customer hot water, on a Saturday afternoon, when our options were limited. After following technical support's procedures to try to pinpoint the problem, we found a blower that would not allow electric to flow to the ignitor/flame sensor. An ignitor/flame sensor that was not igniting. Then a gas valve that would not allow gas to flow to the burner, to ignite the burner and heat the water. After replacing these 3 parts, the tank kicked on and was operating properly. We did not communicate well to the customer, because it was difficult to figure out what the problem was, because of the failure of several parts. The customer did explain that they were not happy with the cost of the repair ($180 for the service call/labor and about $630 for the blower, gas valve and ignitor/flame sensor). They felt that they were ripped off. I told them we would give them a 100% refund, and we would return the water heater back to it's condition before we had arrived. They chose not to do that and pay for the full amount of the parts and labor. They were also upset that we said the tank could blow at any minute. However, our technician was referring to the relief valve on the water heater. The customer's existing water pressure regulator was not working and the expansion tank was bad. This causes excessive pressures and could case the relief valve to leak. This in turn, could cause the premature failure of the water heater itself. The water heater is less than 9 years old and could last another 3-7 years (if not longer). If feel that Mr. Waterheater made an honest effort to help the customer and the effort has gone unappreciated (mostly because of the high price of power vent water heater parts).

Called first thing in the morning and spoke to Stephania who was thorough, accurate and knowledgeable. A pleasure to interact with. Jake came out (on time) calling ahead so I could meet him and get him access to the laundry room. He quickly assessed the tank had let go and answered all my questions. He was efficient, professional and personable. He completed his job in about an hour, cleaned up and reviewed the bill with me and away he went. I deal with a lot of service companies from time to time and my experiences with Mr. Waterheater have all been good ones. I always appreciate dealing with folks that take their job seriously and take pride in their work. They make my life easier and in turn I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone or to call them again when I need them as I have done in the past. It could not have gone better or smoother for being an unplanned maintenance call. ( I just hope I have the same longevity with this tank that I had with the last. LOL !)

Called Mr. Waterheater based on Angie's List comments. Easy to set up appointment for next day. The morning of service, company called to let me know within a two hour window when workers would arrive--the arrived in about an hour after the call. Workers promptly removed old water heater and began installing new one. There was a problem with one of the old pipes leaking, and the workers fixed it a not additional cost. Entire call took about an hour.

Losing a water heater is never at an opportune time. I contacted Mr Waterheater at 10:30 pm on Saturday July 13th and Scott called back immediately. I explained the situation and read them some information off my existing waterheater about the size and model number and such. Scott (I think that was his name) explained exactly what they would do and gave me the price I would pay over the phone on Saturday night. He said they would come out after calling first on Sunday morning between 8am and noon. The next day Keith was here and replacing the water heater at 9:30am, took him about 1 hour and he did an excellent job. I am pleased and am SO THANKFUL I had heard of Mr Waterheater. Also on Sunday morning I had another plumber give me a price and I nearly passed out at how much they wanted to charge me! Sheesh! Mr Waterheater has my vote and future business!!

I checked on Angie's List for water heater installers after noticing water under mine. I had used Mr Waterheater years ago and was happy then, but wanted to double check now. I called early in the morning and was told they could be out first thing that day. They were there by 9:00 AM and explained that I needed a new water heater and expansion tank(new county regulation.) The price of the water heater itself was the same as it was 12 years ago. I told them to do the installations and I was at work by 11:00 AM. I would recommend Mr Waterheater to anyone who needs a new water heater without hesitation. They are quick, cleaned up afterwards and hauled the old waterheater away.

The tech came in the morning. Did not call prior to coming and I was on my way home. He waited the 10 min till I got there. Finished the work in about 30 min. Expensive for the job. Just changing the anode rod. Company should have a fixed charge for maintenance jobs like this then they will get more business.
