It went really well! There was a minor issue with the window, but the contractor handled that for us. (Our previous contractor had ordered the wrong size.) The contractors came promptly at 8 every day they were scheduled for, kept things as tidy as possible at the end of the day, and were polite and professional. The work is as well done as one can expect from a 90+ year told home where nothing is square, and they were able to use largely trim that was original to the home.

I called Monday and spoke with Tammy about hiring someone to recess a medicine cabinet in my main bathroom. It was an update that I was unsure of completing myself due a the stud behind the wall. She explained the service fees and set someone up to come the very next day between 10-10:30 am. The next day, Pat arrived on time and once I explained my concerns went straight to work. He covered anything that could get dusty and went about the job. He was very pleasant and professional. The mirror looks really great, my bathroom looks so much bigger now, and the cost was appropriate for the job done. Thanks!

I spoke to Allie on the telephone and she asked a lot of questions about the various jobs and then Susie called me back and began quoting the work. I repeatedly asked if it was possible for someone to come to the residence and see the work. When she was quoting skim coating and painting a powder room and fixing dry wall - she quoted me $1250.00. I inquiring if that was correct the quote was twice what I had been quoted and she indicated that they just did a "dining room" and that's what it cost - I never mentioned a dining room. I again asked if someone could come out and see the projects and give me a true bid on "my" projects and she again said that don't do business that way. - they know what needs to be done and you hire them and they show up and do the work. I said thank you but I'm really not comfortable with a contractor just showing up and starting work and she went on to say okay, if I ever need them in the future, don't hesitate to call? I was honestly disappointed to not be able to receive a bid since there were positive reviews.

Work performed was good. The agreement was do some work and provide free estimate. But they ended up charging me 3 additional hours for the time spent in discussing future projects and taking measurement. When I discussed the issue with the owner he agreed that it was a mistake but refused to me more than $100. The $100 was bribe for giving a good review.

We have been really happy with the service we have received from Handyman Matters. The first time my husband was at home and said that they were punctual and got the work done no problem. They were straightforward with what the repair required and didnt more than what was necessary. After painting, you cant even tell that there had been repairs made. The second time I was the one at home to meet with the repairman. He was there first thing in the morning, I showed him where the repairs needed to be made and he went straight to work. The repairs looked great. As for the scheduling, it was really painless. I've talked to a couple of people at the company to get work scheduled and it was easy. They explained that for small jobs like ours that the handyman would be able to just come out and no quote was needed. They charged a base fee for the trip, a small hourly, plus materials. She also said that if we had the materials already that they could use those instead of what they brought with them. I would definitely recommend this company.

Professional. Courteous. Clean. On time every day. Well-mannered. Communication with me every single day. Meticulous attention to detail. Price was competitive and well worth every penny. From the initial phone call to their office (their receptionist/office manager is wonderful), to talking and communicating with Randy (one of the owners) to talking and communicating with Pat (a wonderful craftsman) I have absolutely no complaints. NONE at all. My experience with Handyman Matters was probably the best experience I've ever had with home improvement professionals (and I've had several in my day). If you want the job done right at a fair price and don't want to have to worry about things not getting done on time or not getting done RIGHT, use this company. They are absolutely wonderful. We hired Handyman Matters in 2011 before they were listed with Angie's List. Definitely disapppointed with the workmanship of this company. Handyman Matters might be okay for doing minor handyman work like changing light bulbs; fixing dripping faucets etc but in my opinion they cannot handle a major remodel project. We hired them to remodel my elderly mothers bathroom to make it easier for her to use. The tub was removed and replaced with a walk-in shower; faucets and shower head replaced and shut off valves placed on water lines. We purchased a higher sitting toilet and Handyman installed the tank and toilet. The self adhesive tile squares was placed over the existing linoleum. First issue - the toilet leaked. Installer insisted my mom did not know how to flush the toilet. Problem was the toilet was not set on the wax seal properly and water came out flooded the floor between the new tile and the old linoleum and the basement ceiling. When fixing this problem the installer lifted the toilet by the tank instead of the bowl and created a break in the seal between the bowl and the tank. The toilet leaked again. This time between the tank and the bowl. I had placed a blue deodorizer in the tank and when the floor flooded the blue water went all over the floor; a corner of the carpet in my mom's bedroom (now stained permanently blue) and the ceiling tiles in the basement. I was reprimanded for using blue deodorizers like that was the issue. The new floor tiles came up but he told us he couldn't do anything about it while they were wet. Meanwhile the bathroom smelled like an outhouse. We removed the floor tile because of the overpowering smell and found an enormous amount of pee water between the old and new tile. The shower was not installed correctly because shortly after installation the wall bowed out and water was getting behind the shower stall. The installer came out and pulled the shower stall away from the wall, tried to put in a brace to hold it and smeared huge chunks of cauking trying to cover the gaps. It was a horrific caulking job. Another installer came out to replace the floor tile. He didn't know what he was doing. He placed glue on the floor and then put down the self adhesive tiles. All this did was create the floor tiles to be able to slide all over the floor. The bathroom now has missing tiles; a horrific caulking job and is not at all professional looking. I cannot recommend Handyman Matters for any job. Everytime I go into my mom's bathroom it infuriates me on the unprofessional job and the amount of money that was spent for a lousy job. Something that I thought would help my mom and give her pleasure was turned into a nightmare.

The window job took a lot of skill to do. He had a table saw and did a fantastic job. It looks exactly like the other windows and we are very pleased. As far as the other things he did, they were minor for him, but a relief for me to just have things done!

The handyman had all the right tools and knew exactly what to do.

I called handyman matters because a door knob in my house broke and I was unable to access my car without going through the door, I was stuck. I called and pat came within an hour and replaced the door knob in less than 15 minutes! Everyone at the company is absolutely wonderful! I will be hiring them for additional repairs in my home.

Dave arrived on time and did excellent work with tricky installation in older home with older wiring. Also fixed box outside.

Pat completed our work. He is top-notch. Replaced our front entry door in the Fall and returned now to do this work. We trust his recommendations and appreciate his eye for detail. Beyond that, Tammy who is the contact person for Handyman Matters, is very pleasant, cooperative and professional. Makes for a great transaction!

Shoddy workman ship! used inferior baseboards around main bath which warped and had to be replaced with wood. Grout on bath tile floor cracked and had to be redone. Calking was acrylic and could not touch-up plaint after repair. Game room ceiling fell down and I had them back to fix it 3x. The fourth time I called someone else. Several electrical outlet had no ground wires.

I love the fact that they have someone to answer the phone and that they have clear boundaries of their service area. Unfortunately they told me that they don't cover Beechview as it is in the City of Pittsburgh.

I only have good things to say. Work was well done and I liked the people doing the work.

I called them and they came and did the job. The guy who did the job was Tony Massa. I have also had him insulate my whole basement ceiling. They had installed new smoke alarms for me earlier. If he says that he is going to be here at 8 o’ clock, he will be here right at 8 o’ clock.

The job was done in a little over two days. You pay them by the day and for materials. I provided most of the materials. They provided some materials and all of the labor. They did a fantastic job and I would use them again.

Everything went fine. The handyman arrived at my house and was professional and nice. I gave the handyman our service needs and he promptly was on task and followed my orders with no problems at all. The handyman replaced our downstairs toilet shut off valve which was old and fairly hard to get off. The handyman also made a great effort to drill weep holes in my basement walls to relieve water pressure; however, my basement walls turned out to be made by a heated clay tile like material rather than normal cinder blocks. I was there the entire time to witness the handyman make a good effort to try to drill the holes. As it turned out, the wall just could not be penetrated by the rock hammer drill even with force applied. In the end, I was completely satisfied with handyman matters and their service man who helped me.

I needed something done with my window sill and I was so disappointed. I would never use them again. I told her I wanted somebody to look at my windows upstairs and see how much it was going to cost to replace them, and she said when the guy came out for my window sill I was to ask him. I took him upstairs and showed him what I needed. We were up there for 20 minutes and then all of a sudden he says to me I don't really replace window. I said we have been talking here for 20 minutes and he said you'll have to call back and get somebody. So, they charged me for those 20 minutes. He wasn't at the window sill fixing my window very long and I got charged a whole extra hour. To me that is a gimmick. I would rather have someone tell me how much the job is going to cost and not per hour. I think he wasted my time on purpose. He fixed the window sill downstairs. I could have fixed it myself if I knew that is what he was going to do, he put some kind of heavy duty glue in there. I thought he was going to replace it. I would never use them again, I was so disappointed. They keep sending me cards for $25 off my next job and I throw them in the trash can. I wasn't happy with their services at all.

The work was well done. They utilized the least invasive options possible resulting in very little aesthetic touch up needed. The cost was reasonable based on the amount of work involved.

I hired Handyman Matters for a couple jobs. One was installing baseboard throughout a 1,000 sq ft office and the other was a mix of electrical and plumbing. Both jobs were done exactly when they said they would and at a fair price. They picked up the materials and helped resolve the screw up by Lowes. The work was done with care and professional detail.

The whole process went very smooth and I am very pleased with the outcome. I was initially contacted by a coordinator who scheduled a craftsman for the job. Once the craftsman arrived, he assessed the situation, gathered some supplies and repaired the cabinets. I wish I would have found Handyman Matters a long time ago I will definitely be calling them again!
