+ 5 moreRandy is professional, thorough, and punctual. There are no surprises or hidden costs. He worked with us to our complete satisfaction every step of the way. He directed us to suppliers where we could shop for our fixtures and tile, saving us money, and did not mark up their prices. Randy is knowledgeable, and able to foresee possible problems and solutions. The same goes for his crew of workers, especially Kevin, who worked on our bathroom. Kevin enjoyed creating a beautiful design with the tile and border that we chose, and spent time considering with us, where placement of handheld shower, built-in cubby, etc, should be. The excellence of the process and end result stand for themselves. We have Handyman Matters lined up to do more work for us (once you find an excellent source you want to keep them!), and look forward to having their crew complete the jobs.
Description of Work: Turned our old guest bathroom into a more spacious and beautiful bathroom. Gutted 10'x5' bathroom. Removed tub wall from room next to bathroom, in order to add 2 extra feet to new bathroom - making new bathroom 12'x5'. Rebuilt closet in that room. Replaced tub with all tile shower, and tile floor. Installed vanity, lighting, toilet, all plumbing, towel bars, painted walls and ceiling- completely redid old bathroom.

+ 0 moreHe installed the kitchen light and found an unnecessary red wire. He also attempted to fix the two way switch. However, after he had left, I found that our garage lights did not work. I called the company and they sent him back to fix his error. He did so and indicated that the extra red wire was the problem. We now have an operating kitchen light and the garage lights work too. The two way switch is apparently unfixable due to the afore mentioned red wire. This technician was a very nice guy but his back ground was as a carpenter. I think that an electrician would have solved the red wire problem without a need for a return trip. I would use this vendor and the tech again but only for carpentry issues!
Description of Work: The technician was supposed to install a new kitchen ceiling light and fix a two way switch.

+ 1 moreWorker arrived exactly at 8:00 and began working. Garage had to be emptied, old flooring had to be scraped off, and new interlocking tiles installed. Worker did not stop for breaks nor did he take a lunch. Job was finished at 6:00. Very hard worker with a pleasant attitude. Would recommend this company to anyone who needs a very handy man. Pleased with the amount of work, the quality of work, and the end result. Garage looks so good it could be rented out as a dance hall!

He's conscientious and he was concern about the home. He makes sure of what he does and he has good communication. The main thing is that you get what you paid for. If you want good work, they're the one.

+ 2 moreI was very satisfied with Handyman Matters. The handyman showed up well on time and was friendly. The man fixed the problems as was asked to do so. Also, I needed my outside cracked water pipe fixed that was connected to the outdoor water spout in which the handyman fixed; moreover, we noticed that the spout itself needed to be replaced because of a consistent drip. The handyman was willing to go to the hardware store for a second time to get the part even when this was not originally planned to be fixed upon his arrival. The handyman was also willing to answer my concerning questions.
Description of Work: Fixed two porch electrical outlets that were not working at all. Also, fixed a cracked pipe on our outdoor water spout. Additionally, replaced the spout itself because the handyman noticed it was dripping.

+ -1 moreNo work was performed. After I got the voicemail about the price, that was the end of my desire to work with them.
Description of Work: I called to get an estimate for a kitchen backsplash. I already had the tile, standard ceramic white 3x6 subway tiles - the kind that doesn't even need spacers. I didn't want any fancy pattern, all they had to do was put it in. My kitchen space is on the medium to larger size, but the wall space for the actual backsplash is not. Couldn't have been over 30 sq ft of total wall space. I think it was Randy who came. Very nice. Punctual. Responded to my initial inquiry very quickly. But I was blown away by the estimate. The quote came back at 2500 dollars for what was easily a couple hour job - especially for someone with experience in tiling. I've done a kitchen backsplash before - much more complicated than this one. It was my first time, and all I did was watch videos to learn. That took me 4 days. These are professionals, I am sure it would have been a cinch. I couldn't decide if they were serious or if they just didn't really want the job. I did some research amongst friends, family and the web trying to find out what people thought of the price, and everyone agreed with me that the price was gouging, likely because they didn't want the job. Is that the truth? I can't say. But I am writing this to let you know that if that's the kind of price they charge for their jobs, I'd say expect it to be high. Subsequent quotes came back around 1000.

+ -1 moreHad I known that they charge $30 to give an estimate, I would not have even called them. I have since gotten 4 other estimates from 4 other contractors and was not charged by any of them for their estimates. Handyman's estimator was in and out of my house in 15 minutes because he determined that they could not do the work I needed done because of a plumbing problem. Their location is less than 3 miles from my house and they charge me $30? I will never consider them again for anything!

+ -1 moreUnable to get an onsite visit for quote, so i had to describe details over the phone, they list a cost of services and an hourly rate, receptionist guesstimated 1.5 days which provided me with one price, then an installer quoted me another rate which was $550 more. Needless to say I did not feel comfortable and moved on.

+ 2 moreThe handyman knew how to hang the pictures, mirrors and the right screws to put in the walls. The process took 3 hours and since it was an hourly charge it was more expensive than I expected. In discussing the request when I made the call, the discussion was it that should only take one hour due to the basic nature of the work. I was glad the pictures were hung straight and the right screws were used but it is concerning to me that depending on who is sent to your home to do the job the pace of completion varies. When it is a basic job, a standard price should be given so it is not based on the "skill" or speed of the handyman. I feel that I was over charge for the services render. Very disappointing because I really was hoping that I could have a regular handyman I could call as needed. This service provider is not one you would build a long lasting relationships due to the way the services are billed. The variability could leave the client with an unreasonable bill for the services provided.
Description of Work: The handyman hung a picture, a mirror and 2 curtain rods plus spackle the holes left in the wall from prior pictures, and attached a doorstop.

Returned to redo several problems----slow drain in one shower, uneven tile in a small area. Still waiting for adjustment to one shower door and some caulking. Worker was very agreeable and willing to return for any future problems.

+ 0 moreA cabinet had to be special ordered for the laundry room to cover some exposed pipes. I requested additional cabinets along the wall which were of standard size. Kevin worked on the project. I showed him cabinets online that I liked. He measured everything, gave suggestions on how to get around the pipe. He went to Lowes and looked for cabinets that met my requirements. The standard size cabinets were in stock and he ordered another cabinet with sizing required to cover the pipe area. When the ordered cabinet arrived, he obtained it from Lowes and cut out the back in specific areas to avoid the pipe area yet provide stability to the cabinet and leave the base shelf for storage. He installed all three cabinets. They look great! Kevin has done a couple of other jobs for me and I have been extremely satisfied. He is very professional and personable. I will definitely use Handyman Matters again and would recommend them to anyone.

+ 4 moreRandy was very thorough in the estimation process, and clear about what was included in the estimated price. (We purchased our own exhaust fan, vanity/sink, and toilet, and everything else included.) The project was completed on time and on budget, and we were very happy with the professionalism of Kevin, who did most of the work, and his helper (sorry, I don't remember the helper's name). We had one minor hitch when we went to use the shower for the first time, but Randy sent someone out right away and they diagnosed the problem and fixed it within one day. Overall very pleased and will call on Handyman Matters again for future work (we have a lot to do on our house).
Description of Work: Removed old shower and damaged ceiling. Installed new shower and ceiling. Replaced exhaust fan, vanity/sink, and toilet. Installed new bathroom door.

+ -1 moreThe work was fine, but not what I was expecting. So, another handyman returned for a day and completed the work to my satisfaction, no extra charge. Good people to work with that go the extra mile to assure satisfaction.
Description of Work: The work was done in a very, very small powder room off the kitchen. The handyman smoothed old walls that had old wallpaper and old glue from old tile. Lots of old materials. He then patched and plastered and primed the walls. Installed new baseboards. Also replaced the old toilet, changed the faucet, installed new towel rack and toilet paper holder.

Description of Work: I contacted the company regarding what I thought was a Groupon for their company but realized it was not the correct company. I still was interested in getting a quote on a repair or the installation of new tub walls. Our tile was cracking, and we wanted to find out what options we had for repairing the area. Once I told Sandie that the Groupon was for another company, but I was still interested in getting an estimate, I never heard back. So I emailed two more times asking to schedule and asking also if maybe I should call instead. I never got a response.
