Based on my experience, I would highly recommend Handyman Matters! They were extremely responsive, punctual, and proficient in their work. I was surprised that I contacted them on a Friday, and they were able to come out just a few days later. Great service all around.

First of all, Tammy, who arranged the appointment, could not have been more helpful. She asked relevant questions, then said how the schedule would go-- Pat would be the man doing the work, he had a lot of experience, and he would call before coming. All was exactly as she said. Pat is a thorough professional. He came, repaired the door, and answered our questions on two other projects. There is no doubt that we will be calling Handyman Matters for these other projects. It was so good to have such a fine experience with a company that was new to us.

The Handyman Matters employee was punctual and courteous. He knew exactly what type of concrete he needed to fill the holes. He filled about 10 holes both inside and outside of the residence. All in all he was there for about 2 hours. I feel the job he did was thorough and neat. I will definitely call on this company again in the future. Also, Tammy, the receptionist is very friendly and accommodating. When I first called the office she told me that there was not an opening for about 6 weeks for this job. After explaining my situation however she put me on hold and when she came back she said that they could be out on the 22nd to do the job since it involved rodents and my elderly Aunt. (I called about Dec. 17th.) This was a God-send to me. Yes, definitely use this company.

I requested two smaller jobs, first the kitchen I removed the wallpaper they prepared the walls with joint compound and sanding. That part was done well , I was able to paint afterwards it looks good. Then the backsplash around the counter which they did a half good job, but was very rushed and does not look professional. The other room that I had them do was a powder room. I again removed the wallpaper. This job did turn out to be more involved than originally planned as the paper was very difficult to remove. But I did all of that. I had them again joint compound and sand the walls to prepare them for painting and put in a new tile floor and new toilet , then replace the old sink back in. The powder room looks terrible. The entire time the man was there I picked up that he was very rushed as he had other "bigger" jobs that he was needed at. He kept telling me I would have to mix the compound to patch up the backsplash tile. I told him that is why I am hiring you, I can't do that. The area has holes between the tiles that look bad. The edges are very unfinished looking. The powder room is the worst. The walls were done very hastily and poorly. They were not sanded well or finished properly. I painted after and it looks terrible, every area that was not done properly shows, some places there was no joint compound put on them at all, I tried patching myself with spackling and sanding which is the part I hired them to do. When the tile was laid on the floor (powder room) he did not use spacers and it looks like h***. It is uneven and looks as though someone very inexperienced did it. I believe the man sent did have the ability to do the job well but either he did not care what it looked like or was rushed by being needed at other more important jobs. I interpret this as higher paying jobs. The powder room looks so bad that I will have to try to have something done again in the future, I can not afford it at this time. Afterwards I did talk to and emailed the owner of the company about this( Randy McMahan). He did not return any of my communication or even acknowledge my concerns. I was very disappointed as they had previously done some work for me (a much bigger job) and had been satisfied. I had also referred some people to them before this last job. Obviously I will not call them again or refer any friends to them again.

This is the second project that we used Handyman Matters and we couldn't be more pleased. Randy is very responsive and provided a thorough review and estimate of the work needed, as well as good suggestions on the best way to do the project. The foreman on the project, Pat, is a very professional and meticulous craftsman and was on time and cleaned up every day of the 7-day project. He and the two other workers were polite and a pleasure to have in the house. I was not able to be at the house for several of the days during the project and had complete trust that that the work was being done while Pat and his crew were in the house by themselves. The work was done beautifully and the basement is now a showplace. I would not hesitate to recommend Randy, Pat and the Handyman Matters team for any project. They do what they say they are going to do, when they say they are going to do it, and provide high quality, professional workmanship.

Punctual, professional job - will use again

To use a very tired expression, "OMG" it was a wonderful experience. I am a person who is reluctant about people in my home. Tony was a welcome experience. He was very friendly and fun. Did his job perfectly. Removed drywall ceiling and one wall. Put up new drywall. We have a glass block window in the room and during the year there was terrible ice buildup under the roofs here in Pittsburgh, there was damage around the window. Tony redid all that. Installed a new medicine cabinet and light bar, which we had purchased. We also purchased the paint. Actually by purchasing these, we got what we wanted. We added a couple items to our 'to do' list; such as, an outside motion sensitive light over the garage (ours did not work anymore) and installation of a new light bar in our main bathroom. I must tell you, we have found a new fix-it-replace it firm. Tammy, the contact lady, is very helpful and informative. You can add or subtract from your requests as you wish. I LOVE THIS COMPANY!!!. My husband says we found a company to do all the things he cannot do anymore. Ignore the B on the Price rating. They are very competitive. You get what you pay for.

Very prompt response from the beginning. Asked key questions and determined which craftsman was best-suited for the job. That person was Pat, who came out to assess, give recommendations, and estimate. He certainly was the right craftsman for the job! Tons of experience, very professional, and a pleasure to work with. Even helped me coordinate with Lowe's in the ordering and purchase of the replacement door. The work was scheduled easily, Pat arrived promptly, and completed the work without missing a beat, including clean up. We are very pleased with the work he did. We were also very happy with our experience with the company overall, and will absolutely not hesitate to use them for future projects!

Randy showed up as scheduled, reviewed the two rooms that needed work: Kitchen - tile floor regrout/relay; and bathroom drywall/finish work post new skylight. He was easy to speak with and offered much information on what he was looking at -- as well as his being unsure if the two not-standard jobs would be something they would be interested in. Again, rather punctually, his office/Tammy called to offer an alternate company and phone number for me to try as they felt it best that they now undertake the work. IF you are thinking that is a negative, NO IT IS NOT. Honesty is amazing... whatever the reason they cannot do it or do not want to do it, they did NOT leave me hanging. I'm very appreciative of Randy and Tammy! Give them a call!!

The whole experience was great. I called and spoke with a woman who was really helpful. I told her what I was looking for and she asked a lot of pertinent questions. I was able to schedule an appointment during the same week. I received a reminder call the evening before and the guy arrived on schedule. He was friendly, professional and he knew what he was doing.

My husband designed and assembled an IKEA kitchen island that was going to include a ceramic electric cooktop in a butcher block counter top. He didn't have the tools or the skill set to make the precise cutout in the butcher block that the cooktop required, so we called Handyman Matters. We had already been without our cooktop for several weeks and I was only a couple of weeks away from delivering our fourth child so we needed someone who could come out quickly. I called several handyman companies and Handyman Matters was the most responsive. They sent someone out within a week and he made the cutout, installed the counter, and dropped in the cooktop. He arrived first thing in the morning and was done before lunch. They charge by the hour so I took care of vacuuming the dust to keep costs down. Overall, I am very pleased with their work. I appreciate the fact that they have someone dedicated to answering the phone and getting back to customers. They are not the cheapest company out there, but I appreciate their professionalism.

We are extremely happy with the work done. Kevin led our project and is conscientious, detail-oriented, and meticulous - a true craftsman that did everything right and made sure we were happy with the results. His advice saved us significant money when it came to matching the existing hardwood flooring and he added even more value by reusing lumber from the demolition to add bracing in the wall while it was open for hanging a TV in the future.

I have used Handyman Matters twice this summer. Each occasion the same technician comes out to my home, and he was always on time and very professional. I would use this company again in the future.

He was both efficient and fairly priced.

A nice gentleman came out to see what needed to be done. (We had an area of rotting wood above our front door.) He measured the area and went to buy wood. He returned quickly with the proper wood. He was able to take care of the issue quickly and efficiently. We were happy with his work. We later had the whole area painted and you can't tell where the wood was replaced.

Smoothly. He was punctual, neat, did a good job.

Pat came out and was very professional and knowledgeable. He specializes in doors and windows. He fixed two of our doors which had problems closing completely. He knew exactly what they needed. He suggested staining our ktichen cabinets instead of replacing them and it made them look like new. He was honest and said our banister didn't need repairing (that was the main reason I called him). He reinforced it and said it was fine. The cracks I noticed were suppose to be there. He fixed some holes in my stucco that woodpeckers made. In so doing realized that my stucco is in need of repair and should be replaced. Cleared out a couple sinks which were draining slowly. I had to wait a couple months for him to come out due to his and my schedules, but it was worth it.

I called this provider looking for a contractor to repair wood damaged by water leaks in my crawl space. The woman on the phone was very professional and asked a lot of good questions about my problem. She said she didn't think Randy would do that kind of work but would check with him and get back to me. She called me back the same day and said they don't perform that kind of work, but gave me two names of contractors that she thought could help me. Sometimes knowing what you can't do as a service as almost as important as knowing what you can do! I commend them for their honesty, professionalism and extra step in referring other contractors. I will definitely call them again.

We waited several weeks for them to even come out and look at the job. We were scheduled for a Monday and on that Monday, they came out, but only to evaluate the job. We expected them to start work, but they only evaluated the job that day. We were told we would receive an estimate on Monday, but that never came. After several phone calls, we got the day of labor re-scheduled. They re-scheduled for that Thursday. They didn't show up on Thursday. We called them and they said they had it scheduled for Friday. At that point, we decided to go with another provider because the communication was just poor. We had to wait two and a half weeks and adjust our work schedule for them twice -- and still no estimate or work done. It was a lot of back and fourth so we didn't feel comfortable continuing with them. They were very nice, just not organized.

Everything was done professionally, and work was done to accommodate our calendar needs as we had family coming in for a visit. These jobs were in addition to another big job, which was completely re-doing our guest bathroom (separate review). We've used Handyman Matters for several jobs, and have been extremely pleased. Randy is professional, responds in a timely manner, and his crew (esp Kevin) is excellent. As a side note to confirm Handyman's integrity, I mentioned to Randy that I wished his guys had covered the outside work area when doing the glass block windows, as there was a lot of residue left for me to clean up. I only mentioned it for future reference and did not request or expect him to do anything about that. He sent someone out a couple days later to clean it for me. That certainly tells you a lot about how great these guys are.

They are very good. If you have a problem, they will address that problem. they give you good service. If they don't they will come back and satisfy whatever is needed to be taken care of. They do good quality work. The price was okay.

Tony and Chuck were not only great guys but were also great and knowledgeable craftsmen. They performed all the tasks quicker than originally estimated and were both able and willing to answer all of my questions. The office staff were also great! Very polite and did a fantastic job managing my projects. As someone who has always done all of my own handyman work I was nervous about using someone else, but this company gave me absolutely nothing to worry about. Very happy.
