Description of Work: Used a very defective piece of wood on window trim. Multiple inch long, 1/4 inch deep gouges. First repair took weeks. Rep late and merely threw some spackle on. Even after sending pictures to owner and asking that defective wood merely be replaced their "expert" came and placed a thin strip of extra wood over the defective wood making for an uneven and sloppy window trim.

Description of Work: Estimate to remodel bathroom. Estimate was $6300 to remove shower and tub and install new tub/shower combo. Wanted extra $1500 to switch from chrome to bronze colored fixture and grab bars. Price seemed very high for the amount of work being done. Salesman was a bit pushy and too 'flirty'. Cost : 6300.00.

Description of Work: We were looking for a new front door including full frame, sidelight and transom replacement. There was also water damage to the wood around the old door frame. I had done some shopping and had rough estimates ranging from $3,800 to $5,000+ but made the mistake of meeting with the west shore representative before I completed getting detailed estimates from others, which I will address later. The presentation was thorough and all questions were answered. The product was custom-made, included designer colored glass patterns (simulating leaded colored glass) in the sidelights and transom and a solid metal door. It took about 4-5 weeks to be manufactured and available for installation. Replacement included repair of the damaged wood and full replacement of frame, door, sidelights & transom. The door is high quality, seals well, and accurately represented the sales presentation. The installers were very professional and meticulous in their work, answered all questions we had during installation and gave us a few tips on future care, etc.. Installation took approximately 6-7 hours. | |Pros: the door comes with a lifetime transferable warranty, including color fading (my old door needed repainted every 3 years), is designed to seal and direct water away from the house (lessens possibility of future wood damage), and appears to be high quality. We intend to relocate in the next several years so the transferable warranty was a big issue for us. The door has great curb appeal and we have received a number of complements from neighbors. Also, they use their own full-time installers vs subcontracting that work to others as the big box stores and some other manufacturers do. I have had mixed experience with subcontracted installs before and the quality of the work varies based on who is assigned to you by the store. It can also make a difference if there are problems during the warranty period. | |Cons: The sales presentation was very high pressure with a starting price that was a couple thousand above the agreed-upon price and a strategy of "discounts go away if you postpone purchase." Normally, when that line is used, I immediately back out. However, the timing of the purchase/installation and the lifetime warrantee were heavy motivators. But. because I had not gotten detailed info on estimates from other venders I am still not sure that we got the best deal. I would caution others to make sure they have good detailed comparisons before meeting with a west shore company representative.

Description of Work: Replaced two entry doors and garage doors. Very competitive price, excellent quality workmanship, and giod pre- and post sales support. Salesman "Hank" gave us an excellent deal and took extra time to explain the products before and after the sale.

Description of Work: Estimate for window replacement. Applied some discounts...ended up at almost $16,000 still. Overpriced...hard sell....took almost 4 hours for estimate. They called after I cancelled services and said they could lower the price...interesting.

Description of Work: He provided a high pressure estimate to replace my front door (2 doors, sidelights and a window across the top and my french patio door (one fixed, one swinging) with new fiberglass and glass doors. This cost way more than I could afford, although it appeared they would do a good job (installers work for the company, not subcontractors).

Description of Work: Contacted West Shore Windows and Doors thinking we would use a Groupon deal to purchase a new front door. We were greeted by a very nice receptionist who set up an appointment to have a sales rep meet with us at home. The sales rep, Brandon, met with us that day and using a computer program helped design and price a new door with our specifications. Brandon was extremely professional and represented his company and product well. We received a discount purchasing the door at this visit and did not need the Groupon deal. Approximately 8 weeks later our door was installed in a clean and professional manner by Curt. He was very cordial and took his time to explain the door operation and maintenance. He left the area where the door was installed spotless and the whole installation took about 4 hours. Needless to say we were very pleased with the results and as such with West Shore Windows and Doors and their entire staff.
