Description of Work: After dealing with the incompetence and indifference of two (2) national franchises over a four-year period hired because they were "preferred contractors," according to my insurance company, I was stuck with shoddy workmanship in the restoration and renovation of an extensively water-damaged hallway and kitchen (not to mention other rooms in the house). I'd had enough! A very recent subscriber to Angie's List, I soon learned that had I had access to Angie's List four years ago, I would never have hired either of the two franchises, "preferred" contractors or not. Fortunately, I found The Carpenter's Sons, one of Angie's List's highly recommended general contracting sites in this area. I had originally intended just to have someone come in and finish off the wreckage with a coat of paint or two and a lot of caulking just to end the misery. However, in the course of examining the damage left by the other contractors, Dan, The Carpenter's Son's contractor, pointed out so clearly and knowledgeably the errors and difficiencies of the earlier "repairs" without my prompting that I practically hired him on the spot. In short, drywall was so poorly sanded that it had to be sanded properly; outside corners had to be redone; baseboard and crown molding had to be removed and recut (or replaced) to fit tightly against the walls and ceiling; a bulge in the ceiling where ceiling met the wall and crown molding had to be sanded so crown molding would fit properly; sloppy painting overlap on cabinets removed; hallway, kitchen walls, ceiling, window trim, crown molding and baseboard painted. Also, in the course of their work, Dan discovered that the screws used to install the cabinets (installed by Paul Davis Restoration and Renovation) are not the type screws required to hang cabinets! What a surprise! Anyway, The Carpenter's Sons came through for me. Also, the work areas were kept clean and neat over the two days they worked in the house.

Description of Work: Dan completed a repairs to our formal living room including drywall repair & replacement, trim repair and replacement plus finish paint work to the walls and trim.

Description of Work: I have used the Carpenters son for many projects going back to 2010 when I called them to take care of a water tank that broke and flooded my basement. Besides remodeling they specialize in smoke and water damage clean up and repair. They went on to completely refinish my basemant including adding a kitchen. They replaced my large deck and painted all my ceilings including a two story Foyer. They also partially remodeled a bathroom and added outside lights. This was done in stages since 2010

Description of Work: The owner of The Carpenter Sons Home Services, Dan Miller, referred us to Huggler & Son Masonry. They removed the existing brick and masonry on the north wall of our house, and found water, and mold. They then recommended an experienced contractor to take care of mold and the water problems ,he replaced damaged and rotted material and some other problems we were not even aware of that existed. Huggler and Son then replaced all the old brick and mortar with new material, and sealed everything. My husband and I went very impressed with their workmanship and skill, knowing what caused the problem and how to proceed to solve it, and the new wall looks wonderful.

Description of Work: They did some work on our patio and they re-roofed our pool shed. They also re-roofed a portion of an overhang over our family room and powerwashed and painted our fence.

Description of Work: In August of 2011 a tree uprooted and fell on my house. Needless to say, significant damages occurred to the exterior of the home. Initially, interior damage was thought to be minor and the Carpenter's Sons were originally contacted to complete an "easy" paint job. Upon commencement of work, the Carpenter's Sons quickly recognized that the extent of damage to the interior or our home was significantly more than anticipated. Work completed: - Moisture remediation - Mold remediation - Foam insulation - Drywall - Extensive molding and trim work - Painting (walls, trim, and ceilings)

Description of Work: Made minor repairs to walls and water-stained spots; painted walls, ceilings & baseboards in entire interior including closets & garage. Also painted front door exterior.

Description of Work: I used The Carpenter's Sons about two years ago during late summer to help us to take the carpet up to dry it out and to get rid of the molds as our basement had flooded. They had to do some drywall and then dry the carpet out. Because there were some molds in the drywall they had to remove it and replace it.

Description of Work: I left a message for this company and my call was promptly returned. I explained that I needed masonry work to rebuild my chimney above the roofline and some mortar repair about two feet below the roofline. The man said he would send somone out to take a look for an estimate. I did not have to home. After a couple of days, he called back and gave me a comparable estimate to the other two I received.

Description of Work: Pressure washed the entire outside of the house, including siding, windows, porch, and carport. Pressure washed ceiling of carport and porch. The house is small, but the washing took several hours.

Description of Work: We had them over to do an estimate on a bunch of work throughout the house (thousands of dollars) and they never gave us the estimate and never called us back. Left us hanging for 2 weeks. I called and they said they were busy and lost a staff member and were falling behind, but have not heard from them again. Disappointing.

Description of Work: We had a basement flooding, so they brought fans and dryers to dry everything. Our garage also flooded because of gutter overflow which they dried as well.

Description of Work: Remodeled a townhouse: Removed carpet and treated sub-floors for pet urine odor, ran ozone machine to help eliminate pet odors throughout house, painted interior walls and woodwork, painted front door, installed new vinyl trim around front door, installed new storm door, installed new bathroom vanity and kitchen counter-tops and faucets, installed garbage disposal, installed new hardware in tub, tore off old deck flooring and installed new floor boards and top railing, power washed exterior of house,installed tile back-splash in kitchen, removed old carpet on basement steps, primed, and painted steps, removed stained areas on basement floor (concrete), repaired broken vanity drawer, installed new toilet seats, installed new screening on deck sliding door, installed new hardware and door knocker on front door and hardware on deck door, installed new basement door

Description of Work: We had our kitchen updated. Dan and his team painted all the walls, baseboard and added and painted crown molding. They also installed new cabinets in the kitchen.
