The technician, Brian, was professional and knowledgeble and diagnosed the problem and returned the next day and replaced the opener. We are very satisfied with the response, quality and results and would recommend Baker Door for all Angie's List members as a dependable and quality contractor for garage door repairs.
Description of Work: Responded to check garage door opener, determined the operator board was bad, recommended replacement. Returned the next day and in about an hour replaced the garage door opener with a new one and it works great.

Description of Work: My garage door opener was broken, and they came to do an estimate. Upon reviewing the problem, he gave me the option of repairing the current opener or replacing it. Due to the amount of work and parts, he suggested it may be more cost effective just to replace it since the current opener was a low grade model used by builders to cut costs. I opted to do the replacement, and he immediately went to work. He was very effiicient and finished the job in about an hour. I was a bit worried of damage to my walls and floor since I had spent much time embedding the wiring for the old opener into the walls. He was able to use the old wiring and wall connections which eliminated any need to cause damage to the walls and ceiling. He even inspected the door itself and lubricated it since it was over due for maintenance.. The overall experience was first rate. He was very professional and easy to work with. I would use them again and recommend them to others. Thank you for the quick response and quality work!

+ -1 moreI called the following morning. My call was answered right away by a very kind and concerned woman. I'm sorry that I did not get her name. She immediately asked me if I was "trapped" inside the home and able to get my car out. When I told her "no", she said I would become a priority for them. Sure enough, less than 30 minutes later I had a call from Brian - who has to be one of the kindest people on the planet! He was very thorough and spoke very highly of his company and boss. He answered every question I had and recommended that I keep the door lubed since I use it as a primary entry/exit. I told him that I will always call Baker Door Co for any future repairs/replacements. They are top notch! Thank you so much!!
Description of Work: The coil on the right side snapped on Tuesday evening. Brian came by the following morning, replaced the broken coil and lubed all the areas that needed it.

+ -1 moreI called Baker Door Co, at 5:15 PM Thursday evening and left a message. They were here fixing the broken garage door spring early the next morning. Brian who worked on the door, did a great job and was very professional. He explained everything that was done, lubed the door carefully to avoid any lube dropping on parked cars , and adjusted the electric eye for the opener. I would recommend Baker to anyone.
Description of Work: The spring on our overhead garage door snapped and had to be replaced.

+ -1 moreMy garage door's coil was broken on 11/26/2012 (Monday) morning. My next door neighbor recommended this company and I found good references from Angie's list. I called them around 9am. The receptionist was very polite and she promised me the technician would arrive around 1-3pm. At 12:45pm I got her call and a few minutes later, technician Doug came in. He checked everything and fixed the problem in one hour. Doug is very friendly and professional. After these day's use, I am quite satisfied with my garage door.
Description of Work: My garage door didn't work on Monday. It was very noisy when I opened or shut down it.

Description of Work: They came earlier than promised. The workman saw that I had the parts needed to make the repairs and used them instead of charging for their parts. He also attempted to find a remote for the other garage door that had been stolen long ago, but was unsuccessful. He did not charge for that.

+ -1 moreAs stated above the technician was extremely polite and professional. He was even patient enough to wait without complaint while i printed off the Angies List coupon I had forgotten to print in advance.
Description of Work: The previous weekend my garage door broke and I was afraid to attempt to force it up manually past the halfway point since I could twisted wires and a pully starting to bend. I called Baker on Friday morning since I had the day off and explained my situation. The lady with whom i spoke was very polite and stated they could definitely help me prior to 3:00. At 1:45, I received a call from a Baker repair tech stating he would arrive within 15 minutes. He arrived within the stated time. Looked at the door and told me what was needed within 6 minutes of arrival. After replacing the broken parts, he took the time to reinspect the door and adjust the track on both sides of the door as well as the tension on the undamaged spring as preventative maintainence. Lastly he pointed out that my other door had safety cables and asked if I wanted them installed. All of this work was done for one flat labor price.

+ -1 moreBaker Door arrived at the time they stated and said that the motor could be repaired for approximatly $175.00 or a new motor and completely new rail, chain, connection shoe and safty system installed for $359.00. I opted for the completely new system since I knew that the old system had to be at least 20 years old. The new system was installed and operational in two and one half hours. The workman was friendly, efficient and knowlegable, professional in every way.
Description of Work: Our garage door opener malfuctioned, The chain drive was not moving although the motor was running.

After taking copious measurements he sat down and discussed with my husband and myself all of our many options. We discussed styles of doors, insulating properties and security issues with the doors. Our doors are manufactured in the USA and this was very important to my husband and I. Our doors were special ordered due to size and our installation was scheduled and completed within a month. The installer arrived around 8:00 and finished job around 3:00. We were very impressed with everything about our dealings with Baker Doors and can highly recommend their services.

+ -1 moreThe rep, Lonny was very knowledgeable and pleasant. The installer, Dave, was just as nice. He cleaned up well and told me a few tips about lubrication and the openers. Dave said he'd be at my house between 8-8:30 AM and he arrived at 7:55. It was a nice experience and I would certainly use them again. I wouldn't call anyone else. Also, they gave a $75 discount coupon, which I wouldn't have known about had I not been an Angie's List Member.
Description of Work: I called and a rep came out within a day and explained the doors to me and different styles. After checking other companies I ordered two 7'x9' garage doors. Within a month, today, they were installed, as they had to order my style and color.

The repairman Brian was earlier than scheduled, which pulled me away from another commitment, but he was willing to start while I was on my way home. Brian did a quick, clean and quality job and the price was consistent with the original estimate. He counseled me on how to lubricate the door to put off the need for future repairs. I would definitely use this company again.

He said he didn't know what to charge for the replacement battery, so he made it free. This service just happened, so I'm not sure how well the work will hold up at this point.
Description of Work: The garage door opened sporadically, sometimes not opening or closing entirely. They lowered the garage door opener which was installed incorrectly. They checked out the remote opener, explained what was wrong and replace the battery at no cost.

The gentlemen that came to fix it was extremely knowledgeable, and proficient. He was extremely polite, courteous and helpful! Wow, what a refreshing experience!
Description of Work: My garage door would not work, the motor only hummed and I could not get it to go up or down. He reset the garage door into proper alignment and went on to tidy up, meaning he lubed everything, tightened all the nuts and bolts and screws. He reported on the overall condition of my garage door and gave me advice on operation, and what to expect from my garage door since it's so old.

It wasn't really broken. I think he charged the $75 just to come out. I am a new homeowner and I didn't really know how the garage doors worked.

However, the office had called me back and said that the sales person had over charged me and sent me a check for the refund. They were very quick at correcting their mistake.
