Tub-N-Counter

I called for an estimate to re-glaze my tile that was done almost 2 yrs ago by another company. It is now chipping and peeling. He was very gracious, honest, and gave me good advice.

My bathroom had been reglazed by another company, that I had no hand in selecting, and in less than 3 years, the reglazing was peeling on the inside and outside of the tub, on the shower walls and around all the faucets. The reglazing above the sink was bubbling. I was advised that the cause was bad materials and bad prep. This dilemma necessitated that I get somewhat educated in the world of reglazing. I steered clear of any company that promised a warranty of 10 years when the company making the promise had not even been in business for 10 years. I learned that it is not uncommon for reglazing companies to go out of business after a few years. In the search for a reglazing company, Tub N' Counter was highly recommended to me. I was very pleased to get the recommendation but it did not negate the fact that I continued my research. In the end, I wanted a company that had: longevity (15+ years in business), many substantied, solid reviews (a company with less than 50 reviews was not an option), receptive to and directly responded to my questions, reasonable pricing, timeliness and professionalism. I chose Tub N' Counter because they have been in business since 1989, they have over 140+ positive reviews, they are keenly aware of the necessity of proper prep, process and materials and I asked a bzillion questions, both via e-mail and verbally, all of which were responded to to my satisfaction. The previous reglazing (from another contractor) of the entire bathoom, that is walls and tub, had to be removed. This is a very messy and time consuming job. (Some reglazing companies have no interest in removing previous reglazing gone wrong.) Tub N' Counter did not shy away from removing the reglazing by another company. I attribute this to the longevity and breadth of Tub N' Counter's successful reglazing experience. My bathroom has been completely transformed by Tub N' Counter. They started and finished within the targeted timeframe, Cameron and Joe easily answered progress questions throughout the process, and left the finished bathroom clean. I am extremely pleased! I have every reason to expect that Tub N' Counter will continue to be professional and responsive should I need to contact them in future. In summary, stop researching reglazing companies, save yourself some time and just contact Tub N' Counter (Cameron)!

I have seen a number of reviews on Angie's List quite similar to mine and I would suggest that reviewers read the negative reviews before deciding whether or not to use this service. If the service goes well, you may be in luck, but if it doesn't, customers have found that they are given the run around by Cameron and never have their situation resolved. A number of people have reported a deficient refinishing job with a bumpy finish that is likely to chip and peel after a short period of usage. These customers have either received Cameron's word that he would fix it, or his promise that he would refund the money, and eventually he does neither but just disappears. I would recommend you spend a little more and use a provider that gives a multiple year guarantee of their services. I question how long the jobs that appear to be executed well by Tub N Counter will actually hold up. My experience is detailed below: After re-tiling our shower, we had Tub N Counter come to refinish our tub, specifically because the tub finish had been removed where the tile met the tub. Other than that, the tub was in very good shape. Joe refinished the tub. When the tub was dry, we noticed that the tub surface was bumpy - not just in the area you would expect for a "no slip finish" but everywhere, including on the outer side of the tub. There were also small clumps of product in various places on the tub. We sent an email to Cameron with numerous photos attached to show the imperfections. He informed us he was on vacation but would get back to us when he got back and had a chance to talk to Joe. He later stated that they would come by to take a look. When he didn't contact us, we reached out to him two more times. When we didn't receive a response, we called him again. He made up a story about the imperfections being due to a leak in our pipes, and he said that he would not come back until the leak was fixed. This is completely inaccurate and impossible; our water had been turned off for a month while the tile work was being done and had not yet been turned on at the time he called. When we told Cameron this, he said that we were "that type of customer" and said he would prefer to give us a full refund than deal with us any further. We agreed to the full refund. Two weeks later, we hadn't received anything from him so we reached out again thanking him for his offer to resolve the situation amicably and inquiring as to when we would receive our check. We also informed him that if we didn't hear back from him in another week - (for a total of 3.5 chasing after him), we would contact Angie's List and the BBB. At that time he responded in an accusatory manner, saying that we had doubted his word and threatened his business and that he would not send us a check until we had written him a positive review that was approved by him on Angie's List. I wrote him back to inform him that I would not write him a positive review, but if I didn't receive a check in a week, I would write him a negative review. We have now spent over a month chasing after this man and we have no refund and no fix for our faulty tub refinish.

Tub looked brand new when completed. The guys came back out when there was an issue at no charge and re-did beautifully.

Everything was great. It was another $150. It was great. The guy was really nice. He did a great job. It still looks good 6 months later. He was great. He was courteous and he was friendly. He took super care to clean our bathroom and keep the work area clean. He did a great job. I would definitely recommend it. I don't remember it saying that having to scrape the tub ahead of time would be extra. That was a bit of a surprise. They got back to me right after I bought it.

Assuming it holds up for at least 4 years, I'll contact this provider again. There were a few bits that are rough on the top of the tub, but on the whole, it looks very good.

The work looks fantastic!!!! My family and I love our new-looking tub. We also appreciate the rough coating on the bottom of the tub to help with traction. We are recommending Tub-n-Counter to our family and friends.

Came out for a quote to re-glaze our master bath, ultimately we decided to just remodel instead of the re-glaze but we would contact the company again without reservation.

On time, neat, great results, cleaned up after.

The service was excellent. The technician was professional, careful, redid the tub in an efficient way, recaulked as called for in the service agreement and cleaned up. In a half day, I had a beautiful new bathtub finish for a reasonable price without too much inconvenience or bother. Just what one asks for.

It was pretty good. I am happy with it. I wasn’t home when they came. Scheduling was good. The price was reasonable.

We wound up not working together because the provider was running about a month behind and I needed service performed sooner. We communicated via e-mail and the provider was very professional and responsive.

Reported on time as agreed. Told me bathtub was in fair shape to begin with. But a new coat would help ,if we wanted it. No pressure. We had it done and its great. Took about two hours. Clean up and all. Smell was bad, but with his fan in window and door closed it helped . Smell was gone by evening. We are very pleased with work and woulld call TUB-N=COUNTER again.

it went great. The guy that came was on time, curious & professional. Answered all my questions on how to clean it & it only took 2 hours! My tub was HORRENDOUS before and now it's white with a non-slip surface. They did a great job of removing the old caulk and if there was mildew behind it before they went ahead & re-caulked. Very satisfied.

Polite, responsive and professional. He taped (masked) the drain and overflow (some refinishers remove these), but the final product was well done. New finish is even and glossy. Tub bottom has a non-slip finish. Work was done on-time and clean up was excellent.

Scheduling took a little longer. They sent one worker and it took him a couple of hours to do the work. The final product looks very nice. He put up screens where he needed to and was very clean.

They came when scheduled and they cleaned and refinished the tub. It was a bathroom that was completely re-done and we kept the tub because it was a smaller size than usual and it was cast iron. The finished result is gleaming white to match the new subway tiles that surround it. You would never know it was the old stained tub.

BECAUSE IT WAS OVER OUR BUDGET, WE ASKED CAMERON IF HE MIGHT ADJUST IT TO $1,000, AND HE WAS KINDLY AGREEABLE!! HALLELUIA!! ON NOV 12, JOE COVERED AND PROTECTED EVERYTHING THAT WOULD NOT BE GLAZED, WHICH TAKES A FULL DAY! AND ON 13TH, HE DID THE GLAZING, (STRONG SMELL BUT DISSIPATES PRETTY WELL BY END OF DAY). AGAIN, JOE'S WORK WAS EXCELLENT - VERY PUNCTUAL, EFFICIENT AND METICULOUSLY SPOT ON!!!! My 50s bathtub could need a facelift, I thought. It is in very good, but not perfect condition. I made an appointment with the vendor, and the technician came on time. He was surprised that I had ordered this service, and suggested that the improvement would be marginal and that I should try to get a refund. He was polite and helpful, and very honest to say the least.

It went well. I liked how there were no surprises. the process is a bit smelly

They had many excuses about why they didn't respond to me, so I cancelled it.

I had just moved into a new (old) house which had two bathtubs. I saw the Angie's List deal with this company which was a good price to refinish a bathtub, so I purchased two. I had done this at my old house with a different company and had been happy with the results. Since one of the bathrooms needed some renovation first, I had them start with one tub. They did a good job EXCEPT they installed some gritty stuff in the bottom that makes it so you don't slip. They did this without asking even though they mentioned later that it is optional. I did NOT want this in this particular tub because it does not have a shower and never will because there is a slanted wall right above it. This is an old clawfoot tub that is very clearly only used for baths. Now everytime we use it, we have to sit on the scratchy bottom. It looks good, but that is annoying. The renovations on the other bathroom took longer than usual so I asked for an extension of my coupon. At first they said no, but I talked them into a year extension. When I was ready (within a year), I called them numerous times to schedule the refinishing and they never called me back. I paid for this service so I don't see why they can't honor that. So, I paid for two bathtub refinishes, got one which I'm not happy with. Waste of money. I recommend that you use another company.

Tub-n-counter was contracted to refinish my stuck in the 60's blue bath tub. The price details are as follows: Tub refinish - $360.00 Weekend work - $75.00 Biscuit color upgrade - $50.00 The scheduled arrival time was June 21st between 8AM and 10AM. They were right on time at 8AM. The person doing the job was very courteous and professional. I planned to install new tile around the tub and I had removed the wall down to the studs. He immediately pointed out to me that the finish does not fully cure for 30 days and that he was very concerned that I would damage the finish when installing the backer board and the tile. He told me this several times, but I chose to go ahead anyway and I acknowledged that if he had to come back to fix any damage that the cost would be my responsibility. It took him about 4 hours to complete the project and the tub really looked amazing. We did not do any work in the bathroom and in fact I do not plan on doing anything until July 4th weekend. On Sunday June 22 I went into the bathroom and ran my hand over the bathtub. The vertical sides were perfectly smooth. I noticed that the bottom of the tub had a slip resistant surface which I was not expecting. He said that they do this on all tubs. I am not sure if that is a feature that I like but that is OK. The problem I had was that the horizontal surface on the top of the tub had small bumps(like pieces of dirt) and was not completely smooth. I let the provider know this and he blamed the fact that the walls were open and that the bumps were caused by this. Please note that the entire area was masked off by the provider during his preparation. If he needed to seal off the wall studs with plastic to avoid this outcome it does not seem to be a very big added expense in either time or materials. I was never told that this was a possible result I was only warned about possibly damaging the surface when installing the tiles around the tub. The provider did not offer to remedy the situation at all and I was told that these would eventually wear down. Like I said the tube really does look very good, and I could not actually see the surface imperfections until I ran my hand over it. This is my first experience with tub refinishing so I am not sure if this is typical.
