TruGreen Lawn Care - 5885

Arrived on the day expected. Provided lawn treatment. Left extensive notes and invoice. Will continue for 6 more applications.

Acceptable. At times, the technicians hurry through job.

Stopped using Scott's last summer, yard looked horrible. Red thread treatment didn't work. They reseeded my lawn and it never took at numerous spots. Weeds all over lawn. Never any notice to when they were coming for treatment so no opportunity to cancel service. We are trying someone new this year.

They do not seem to have a clue as to what to do. They say their folks are well trained. They only thing I think they are trained to do is to shoot spray on the trees and shrubs. As to diagnosing shrub problems, they are totally in the dark. Also, they don't follow up on complaints. Had they done so when I first called to report the problem, my bushes could easily have been saved.

I did not like the fact that when they put chemicals on my lawn, which I was trying to make look nicer, I was not told to water it and they burned the grass up. I told them about it so they came out to reseed my lawn but it never got back to the way it was. They came at their own time.

Generally, they do good work, and their efforts are effective. They do tend to oversell services, but any issues have been resolved amicably.

Scott's is excellent, and my lawn looks great! I have used other lawn companies in the past, but Scott's is, by far, the best.

Everything is going well, and the grass is coming in quite nicely.

We have been using them for ten years, and they have proven to be consistent and reliable. Thanks to them, our yard looks great.

Where do I start? I've had multiple problems over several years with service, billing, sales, and managers. Plus I spent a LOT of money on my lawn care over several years and lawn looks truly awful. Any time I bring up issues with the lawn it is somehow my fault and nothing they can do (I have the one weed no pesticide on earth can kill... I have too much shade...) They call to try to upsell me on new services about once a week. The billing office autobilled me for ten payments, then called in a total panic and yelled at me because my account was 'overdue" and I needed to pay immediately, and swore they'd never autobilled me ever. 15 minutes later, same panicky call... Repeated requests for a written account/ plan of what they were doing on my property were ignored, even when I told them not to come back until I knew what they were doing. I told three employees, including a regional manager, to suspend my account, and I chased away the guy coming for a service, and they kept coming (and billing me) anyway. Free services were promised to "win back my trust" and they never showed! They swore up and down this year they'd fired a good portion of their staff and restructured the business and gotten their act together, and so I cautiously signed on again. First bill was $50 more than I expected, and calls were not returned for two weeks, so I cancelled my contract again. They claim their employee who was handling my account just disappeared. The billing department was incredibly agressive and nasty about collecting the final balance. Managers and regional managers all along admit the company has made mistakes, treated me unfairly, etc, They are super nice and say all the right things and then NEVER follow through with promises.

It has been going very well. I would recommend them and I have used them for years, and will continue to use them.

It went good. They have always provided good service.

They always come when they say they will. They leave a very detailed written report about the treatment that they gave the lawn and any recommendations that they may have.

They did a good job. They were professional and reasonable.

They're not always thorough with the spraying so there's not a complete treatment. They're inconsistent with the treatment. The lawn hasn't shown a big improvement since using them.

We have been happy. They show up and they do the treatments. They come back and handle any complaints. I don’t have any issues with them. Their prices are competitive.

The quote they gave was fine. The person that came to do the work was good. There was a little mix up with what was supposed to be done and they had to come back to do it. That was a little annoying.

The customer service was poor - basically non-responsive. The lawn "technicians" were not well trained. As an example, Drexel Hill and other areas of DE County were hit with a severe hail storm. The storm brought down trees, branches and left a blanket of debris on lawns that were in the storm's path. TruGreen technicians showed up the day after the storm, ready to apply fertilizer. How incredibility stupid since my lawn was literally covered in tree branches and leaves that would prevent most of the fertilizer reaching the soil. The hail storm's aftermath left a huge cleanup effort. Having TruGreen technicians show up demonstrates the unthinking way they do their business. One treatment resulted in killing some of my plants called "stepables". I mentioned this to the technician who came to do a lawn treatment on a subsequent visit. He said he'd let his supervisor know about this. I never heard from anyone at TruGreen. Proactively, I called the TruGreen customer service line and told them about the treatment and how one of the lawn treatments killed some "stepables". No action was ever taken. I cancelled my service. I got many follow up calls from TruGreen AFTER I cancelled my service. Some of the callers at TruGreen had no knowledge that I cancelled the service - proof of how disorganized they are. I wouldn't recommend TruGreen services to anyone. The technicians that came often expressed their dissatisfaction working at TruGreen. If you don't have employees that are motivated and, actually disaffected, why would I, as a consumer of their services, ever give them my business. I wouldn't.

3 out of 4 of the fertilization treatments were fine, as were the grub-ex and coring services. However, as a part of the treatment they are supposed to point out any issues they see with the lawn in a consultative capacity. Despite a fairly severe nutsedge problem that developed in my back yard during 2010, I received nothing more than standard notes such as "Water your lawn", "Mow high". Still, they did the treatments and I would give them a B minus for this portion of the service. Customer-focused consultation would have resulted in an A. Then the service took a turn for the worse. Coring and aeration were accompanied by seeding in early September, as most lawns in 2010 suffered greatly from the overly hot and dry summer. I irrigated 2x daily for the following 2.5 weeks as instructed and was continuing this regimen when, on September 25, I woke to found that they had applied Winterizer treatment on my lawn at 7:30 AM. You read that right: a winterizer application in September. According to my account profile on their website, Winterizer treatment was to be applied between late October and early December. Based on that explicit schedule and good old intuition, I would never have expected a Winterizer treatment during prime lawn renovation season! I'm supposed to be the idiot about this stuff....not them, right? So, in addition to an already uphill battle with fixing a damaged lawn, I've got Scott's making the problem worse and limiting my options for add'l seeding for the entire rest of renovation season. I question the customer focus of this company. No one called to ask if it was OK to apply winterizer in September (I can't imagine that anyone would say "yes" to such a request) and I would guess that they also treated other lawns that day with no regard for any seeding that had taken place. The absolutely worst part of this is that Scott's was the service that had actually done the seeding 2.5 weeks prior! So, they were completely aware that I was trying to grow grass and continued to fertilize anyway! Never again.

Horrible customer service! No One answered !! Calls got disconnected for existing customers, but for new customers, someone answers! They scheduled 1st treatment about THREE weeks from initial verbal agreement for the season package. In the mean time, weeds grew out of control. On the day of the first treatment, no one showed. Spent all day trying to contact the local office because phone would automatically hang-up if option2 ("if calling for lawn services and has existing contract"option). Only option 1 ("if you are a new customer" option), then some one answered (not local still , but national sales center). After three hours of numerous phone calls, transfers, & holdings, a service manager finally told me that he would do me a "FAVOR" to come out this afternoon (i.e., I should appreciate for his service today) despite the service was actually scheduled today. I cancelled the contract after that call. Whether I'll get my credit back promptly remains to be seen.

I started out with a lawn that really needed help and now I have a lawn that is completely dead. I contacted them numerous times about my lawn and a supervisor came out and recommend to aerated my lawn and put down seed and it looks worse then when I started the service.

They do a really good job. They are very quick, responsible and timely. They are pretty good. Their price is also very reasonable and less than what we were paying earlier for the same work.

They have made my grass greener and fuller. I have only spoken with them once since I began using them, but they have been very nice. I have not had any problems with them. There was even once when they came out and I was mowing the lawn and he just politely asked if he should come back. I really appreciated that. I give them all A's.

It was my understanding that they would fertilize my lawn 4 times per year, but I was informed today that it is actually 5 times per year. I had them out to treat for grubs and they went ahead without my knowledge and fertilized my lawn as well. I was charged for the grubs treatment and the fertilization as well. This was an additional expense that I wasn't anticipating and feel confused about the # of fertilization treatments that I am supposed to receive. I feel they need to put their service agreements in writing and do a better job explaining them to the customer. I feel there has been a lot of miscommunication.

My yard had a disease, but it seemed like they didn't identify it right away and I had to keep calling them back. They were nice, but it just seemed like they were geared to do one thing. It wasn't very personal.
