Carney Plumbing Heating & Cooling was founded in 1976 by Kevin J. Carney and Diane Carney. Although the operations are now in the hands of sons Kevin and Ryan, Kevin – or "Senior" as he's referred to by co-workers – remains involved in the company. The company is now in its third facility, located at 900 Bethlehem Pike, Line Lexington, PA 18932 on the border of Bucks and Montgomery Counties. Overall, I liked that I knew the cost ahead of time & that they showed up on time & did the work within their stated time. That was valuable to me. This is the first time I used Angie's List & I'm hoping that most of my experiences are like this one.
Description of Work: Lever-type shut off valves were put on either side of the water meter with adapters. The hot water tank had shut-off valves put on the hot & cold pipes. Bathtub piping was replaced with shut-off valves & new tub fixtures were installed & caulked.

The good news - they came the very next day. The bad news - they charged me $950 for two guys who each worked for 2 hours. That's over $200 per man-hour, and there were almost no materials involved. That's outrageous! And they left without realizing that there was a new leak. The guy who came the next day fixed the leak and they did not charge for his time - rightfully so.
Description of Work: I had a leak in my powder room faucet that I asked a handyman to fix. He said it was too big a job after he had taken apart my pedestal sink. Carney guys came right away. They put in a new faucet that I had purchased and they left after finishing the job. A few hours later I found that I had a new leak into my basement which had not been there before they did the work. A different guy came back the next day and corrected the problem. There was a crack in a piece of the faucet. We don't know if it came that way from the store or the plumber over-tightened the piece when he installed it. Either way, it caused a leak that they should have noticed.

SHORTLY AFTER INSTALLATION, ONE OF THE COMPONENTS FAILED DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. IT WAS FRIDAY NIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BRUTAL HEAT WAVE. THE OWNER KEVIN CARNEY MOVED HEAVEN AND EARTH TO GET A NEW COMPONENT FROM HIS DEALER AND INSTALLED IT THE NEXT DAY. WHICH WAS A SATURDAY. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PROFESSIONAL COMPANY WITH KNOWLEDGEABLE TECHNICIANS AND VERY COMMITTED CUSTOMER SERVICE, HIRE CARNEY. YOU MAY PAY A BIT MORE, BUT ITS WELL WORTH IT!

I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WHEN I RECEIVED THE ESTIMATE. I AM NEW TO THE PHILADELPHIA AREA, AND I BELIEVE THAT THIS COMPANY TRIED TO ''PULL ONE OVER ON ME.'' THEIR ESTIMATE WAS NEARLY DOUBLE WHAT ALL THE OTHER PLUMBERS OFFERED.

I AM THANKFUL FOR YOUR COMMENTS. IF I PAY $.79 FOR A CUP OF COFFEE AT THE GAS STATION AND THEN PAY $1.79 FOR A CUP AT STARBUCKS DOES THAT MEAN THEY "PULLED ONE OFF" ON ME? NO. CARNEY PLUMBING HEATING & COOLING WOULD NEVER "PULL ONE OFF" ON ANYONE AND I AM SORRY SHE FEELS THAT WAY. WE NOT ONLY WORK IN THIS COMMUNITY, WE ALSO LIVE HERE AND TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN BEING HONEST WITH OUR CLIENTS. THE WORK IN QUESTION WAS MUCH MORE THAN JUST AN ORDINARY WATER HEATER. OUR TECHNICIAN, RON PROVIDED A SOLUTION UTILIZING THE EXISTING HEATING SYSTEM FOR THE PRODUCTION OF DOMESTIC HOT WATER, THEREFORE MAXIMIZING ENERGY DOLLARS SPENT. THIS INVOLVED A HIGH-END WEIL MCLAIN PLUS 60 UNIT WITH ELECTRIC ZONE VALVES, CIRCULATOR, PIPING, WIRING ETC. I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO DISCUSS THE SITUATION WITH HER AND WOULD BE INTERESTED IN WHAT WAS ACTUALLY INSTALLED. ARE WE THE CHEAPEST? NO. ARE WE THE MOST EXPENSIVE? NO. ARE WE THE BEST SERVICE COMPANY IN OUR AREA? YES. THE CONTRACTOR USES A FIXED PRICE APPROACH. FOR THIS JOB THE PRICE SEEMED HIGH, BUT HE DID RUN INTO TROUBLE AND HAD TO REPLACE THE CUTOFF VALVE - SO IN THIS INSTANCE I BENEFITED BY THE HIGHER PRICE BECAUSE IT INCLUDED THE ADDITIONAL WORK.

THE YOUNG MAN THAT CAME TO THE HOUSE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY. HE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT NEATNESS SO HE WORE SHOE COVERINGS AND SPREAD OUT A LARGE FLOOR COVERING TO PROTECT THE CARPET. HE FOUND THE LEAK AND REPAIRED IT QUICKLY. HE EVEN TOOK A PICTURE OF THE LEAK (COVERED THE LEAK SPOT WITH LIQUID SOAP WHICH BUBBLED). I FELT CONFIDENT THAT THE LEAK WAS FIXED. THEY MAY BE A LITTLE PRICEY.
