Murphy's Dryer Vent Service

The guys arrived on time and did a great job of cleaning out the vent. They suggested a very minor repair to the duct work that made sense and did that job too. I felt very confident using the dryer again with no fear of overheating.

The plastic cage to our dryer venting had been chewed by an aggressive critter. We've had problems in the past when the cage was off with a bird nesting in the venting duct work and also a squirrel. Josh came out within a couple days of the call and replaced the plastic with metal. Very pleased; if something gets through this cage, we have BIG problems. Would certainly recommend this company; efficient, friendly, reasonable. Thanks!

Kevin responded to my e-mail inquiry quickly. We set up a Monday AM for cleaning. He called 20 minutes before coming, arrived on time with his partner, went to work quickly and proceeded efficiently. We were given solid advice to prevent future problems.

$55 call out fee. Overall cost $455, replaced dryer vent and new hood for the outside. No idea if that is a good price, seems expensive so gave the price a low rating but you be the judge.

Called and spoke with Kevin to schedule the appointment and was able to get an appointment that fit our schedule. Kevin was very pleasant, polite and personable on the phone. He even mentioned that there was a $ 20 off coupon on their website that we should take advantage of and factored that into the price. His partner, Josh, did the actual work and arrived on the agreed upon date with another worker - they actually called to see if they could come about an hour early since they were available and that was fine with us. At our request, Josh inspected the exhaust tubing that runs into our garage because my husband had noticed a gap or break in the existing tube. Josh gave us the option of repairing the tubing or replacing it with new tubing - no sales pressure, just gave us the facts, the price and let us decide what we wanted to do. I really appreciated that. Since the tubing was very old and dented, we decided to replace it and the tubing he installed is much sturdier, clearly better than what was there. They also replaced the clamp on the hose to the dryer with a much sturdier one. They were polite, professional, pleasant and competent - we would highly recommend them. .

From the first phone call these guys were excellent! They were super nice, professional, and flexible. They showed up on time, did the job perfect, and left everything neat and clean. I would use them again and recommend them to friends and family.

I live on the first floor of a condo and my exhaust goes up through the second floor, through the neighbor's attic and out the roof. During his inspection he discovered that the hose became disconnected from the roof and had been blowing out into the neighbor's attic. Promptly fixed that and cleaned out and exhaust and filter in the dryer. Excellent work, very friendly and professional. Thank you Kevin and Mike.

Kevin came out for us on Christmas Eve morning, taking time from his holiday. We'd just finally had our new washer installed, with clothes piling up, when the dryer went on the fritz. Kevin did an outstanding job, replacing the dryer vent to the wall, and repairing a disconnected outlet vent in the basement. The dryer now works like a champ, and we can finally winnow down that clothes backlog. A great job, greatly appreciated!

I had been looking for a solution for our dryer vent that was constantly clogged with cat hair. We used to have to hang out the second story window with a large industrial vacuum to try and clean the bird cage trap that was attached to the soffit. We were having our dryer vent cleaned every 6 months and it would continue to be slow to dry. I had practically given up. I had called and talked with Kevin Murphy and told him my sad story. He said he would be out in two days, and he was great to deal with. He and his team showed up with great attitudes and equipment in hand. They looked at the situation and said "No Problem, we'll fix it in a flash!" When the took the old birdcage vent off they found that the tube wasn't even aligned with the vent so it was venting into the soffit itself. Then the fully cleaned all of the vent tubing and fixed and installed a proper soffit vent that doesn't hold the lint but let's it out so my dryer can actually dry! All of the other dryer vent cleaning was for not because they never addressed the real issues. I am so glad I found Murphy's!

The good: 1. Got back to me right away when I messaged them through Angie's list. On the phone, Murphy was clear and helpful and he scheduled me for an on-site estimate with a 1 hour arrival window. 2. Showed up on time (got there before me even. Luckily I had painters working who let them in to assess the vent situation) 3. Installed the vent at the same appointment and removed all debris. The bad: 1. $424!!! The whole installation took maybe 20 mins and didn't require any special tools or parts as far as I could tell (they opened the window about halfway, screwed in a metal plate fitted with a standard vent opening and cover, and taped the dryer duct to it.) The only thing I can think to justify the price is that they charged me for all 3 guys' time individually despite the fact that it was barely more than a 1-man job. 2. I had to cajole them a bit to do it "right" They initially installed a vent duct/hose that wasn't long enough to allow the dryer to come out from the wall far enough to line up with the washer, leaving the washer sticking out about 2 inches farther than the dryer. They first tried to convince me that this was acceptable and then, that changing to a different, longer hose would be a safety issue. Only when I insisted did they finally think about it and realize there was a perfectly safe, straightforward solution that took about 5 minutes to implement. 3. They left about 10 very sharp screws sticking out of both sides of the metal plate. It seems like for $425 they could have found a more elegant, less dangerous way to deal with this. In summary, the vent was installed quickly but the price was very high and wasn't reflected in the quality of the work.

We recently bought our house and quickly identified problems with our dryer vent. We assumed the vent was clogged, but discovered our dryer led to small cavity with no outside exhaust. We called Murphy?s for a quote to drill through our old stone wall and install an adequate venting system. They were very responsive and in a couple of days arrived promptly at 7:30am, as scheduled. We showed them to problem and also explained that we didn't like our current washer/dryer set up and hoped to relocate them and replace with a stacking unit in a few years. They looked around the basement and identified where we could relocate the washer and dryer (considered distance to water, drainage, outlets, clearances etc.). After evaluating the exterior and interior wall conditions we settled on a location to drill that worked for both our current setup and future configuration. They quoted us approximately $550 drill through our exterior wall and provide all required material. With our old thick stone walls, this was a reasonable price. They were ready to do the work and started immediately. Ultimately, we were very happy with the service and work performed, and our clothes dry in half the time! They used the proper ducting (not the ribbed flexible type) and eliminated turns to prevent lint accumulation and secured it nicely to the wall. The exterior vent they used blends nicely with the stone and does not stand out, and is properly controlled to prevent animal access. They were knowledge, thorough, kind and open. We have no complaints and would certainly consider using them in the future.

I called to schedule an appointment after reading so many positive reviews on Angie's List. I wasn't disappointed. My call was returned same-day, my appointment was scheduled promptly (within my own limited availability), they were on time and performed the work efficiently, giving me instructions before leaving. I will definitely be calling them next year for repeat service (it's already on my calendar).

Kevin and Josh were very punctual and professional. They explained everything that they were doing and completed the work in a timely manner. I will definitely use their services again and would recommend them.

I contacted Murphy's Dryer Vent Service based on their Angie's list reviews and I'm glad I did. We just moved into our new home and had a new washer dryer installed. I was doing my laundry for the first time and the dryer would not run because it indicated the vents were clogged 90%, leaving me with sopping wet clothes. I called them at 1:30, and Kevin was at my house 20 minutes later. He worked fast, cleaned the vent, and was so quiet that he didn't wake my napping 1 year old! We've had our vents cleaned before in our old home and both providers we used were so rude. Kevin was informative, funny and just great to be around. Very happy, will be calling them again and recommending them to family & friends :)

Josh and Kevin went over all the work they preformed on the dryer. Showed me what they replaced and give me some pointers on keeping the vents clean. Would use them again and would recommend them to my friends and family.

on my first call i didn't leave message..to my surprise i got a call right back...not to many companies will call YOU back if you don't leave a message...talked to Kevin on a friday and he said they could come out on the following Monday between 2-3...Kevin called me when they were 15 minutes away and showed up 15 minutes later...his partner Josh got right out of truck introduced himself and quickly went to work...he headed right to my dryer and proceeded to clean it out...Kevin was outside and cleaned out the vent from side of house...my dryer cap on the outside was bent out of shape and instead of trying to make a sale on a new one they just bent it back in place for me...very nice...they were done in under an hour...i never had this done in the 16 years i have owned the house...Josh told me that he did notice some of the lint in dryer was black and burnt which is not good and possibly could have caused a fire...Josh also gave me some good tips on washing and drying to keep things in check for the future...he said it should be cleaned every two years to prevent lint buildup....I am definitely going to call them again and recommend them to family and friends... UPDATE......I am now only running my dryer for half a cycle...it's unbelievable how well it works now...before cleaning I would sometimes have to run it through two full cycles...I highly recommend getting your dyer and vent cleaned out...not only will it prevent a fire but you will save on wasted energy...I cannot stress how glad I am that I had this done...Also what a great job Kevin and Josh did...

Kevin and Josh accommodated my busy work schedule and came to my house at 7am in the morning. They quickly analyzed the issues and went to work. They were both courteous, quick, clean and efficient. I would highly recommend this business as they only work on dryer vent systems (for over 18 years) and are very good at what they do. I am very glad I called Murphy's Dryer vent service as I certainly would have had a house fire in my newly purchased home. I am going to recommend these guys to all my friends and co-workers.

They took one look at my old dryer vent hose which was a combination of foil and plastic and replaced with a steel tube. The service was done right and done super fast as well for a super price.

awesome! Kevin and Josh came to do the dryer vent cleaning. they were fast and cleaned everything up. they replaced a part for $10. I told Josh that I was nervous because the last company that came out to clean the dryer vent took the dryer completely apart and told me there were parts needed and said the parts would cost $200+. I waited three years before I was brave enough to do the cleaning again. So great to have found this honest company, and they know what they are doing. Josh gave me info on the amount of detergent to use, dryer sheets, etc. So nice to have somebody with this knowledge. Really happy to find Murphy's Dryer Vent Service... incredibly difficult for a single woman to find companies that do not want to take advantage and upcharge when they are at the house. They were very professional and friendly from our initial phone conversation and throughout the process which took a little less than one hour. They explained their recommendation and process they would use. I also learned if the top of the dryer is warm or hot to the touch while dryer is running, it is a sign that it needs the vent cleaned before motor damage (or worse) is done. Mine was warm, I thought that was normal. I would definitely recommend Murphy's to my family and friends.

This is a great company to work with. They were very courteous and explained everything they were doing in detail. The service was fast, and they came on time. I also like that they are a small company and its clear that they take much pride in what they do. Would definitely recommend them and would use again.

We contacted Murphy's after I spoke with several contractors as these guys were certified. Both individuals were punctual and explained what they would be doing. They cleaned the dryer vent and also used the ladder to clean the vent outlet from the outside of the house that was on the 2nd level. They explained how they measured the air flow and what that after cleaning it exceeds the requirement. They were professional and cleaned up after the service was performed. I'd hire them again

Kevin was a complete joy to talk to on the phone - he returned my call promptly and was able to give me an appointment at my earliest convenience. He called the morning of the appointment to tell me he was on his way and arrived exactly when he said he would. He and Josh were courteous, friendly, professional and showed me what they intended to do, why they needed to do it and what was wrong with my current hook up (dryer wasn't drying clothes efficiently, lint building up). They were a total joy to work with, and I will definitely use them for routine maintenance of my dryer and refer them to my friends and family.
