Roughneck Pest Control

We had recently cleaned out our basement to have it remodeled and discovered a pest situation once it was all cleaned out. I called Roughneck Pest control and spoke with who I believe was the owner. He was so professional and tried to have someone out to our house the day I called as I told him about my phobia related to any pest. Unfortunately, they had too many service calls that day? but they had someone out the first day available. Once they came out and sprayed we have not had any problems with unwanted guests.

Hi, I purchased a 199.00 deal from Roughneck for rodent abatement. On the first scheduled day 12/30/13, no one showed. After I called and left a message to reschedule, someone called me and left a msg that the serviceman had had a car accident on his way to my home. So, we rescheduled via email on this site for 1/3/14 in the afternoon. No one showed and no one called. The number I used was my cell phone - no calls received.

My experience with Roughneck was overwhelmingly positive. There were 4 visits in total included in the $199 special - the initial visit and 3 follow-ups. These were spread out over the course of a month. John was extremely punctual and professional. He was consistently on time - in fact he was usually early - and always called when he was about 30 minutes from arriving. His inspections were extremely thorough and his poison and trap placement was informed and accurate. After the 4 visits, we have not had any evidence of mice and the last visit was on November 21, 2013. (written January 3, 2014.) Highly recommended.

Amazing experience. First contact answered immediately and service scheduled for next day. On time, courteous, professional. Took time before and after to explain everything. Highest recommendation!

The technician arrived on the above date around 11:00am and sprayed a very smelly substance around the baseboards of all rooms, explaining all the time to my son-in-law that sometimes it takes awhile for the application to take effect and would return in two (2) weeks (noted on my enclosed receipts) to re-apply another treatment and would call first. The bill was paid in full and my thought was this was something my son and son-in-law could have done, but I let it go. In approximately 10 days on a Monday morning, November 11th, he arrived at 8:45am, without benefit of a call or prior notification. Unfortunately, I was unprepared for this visit and my daughter told him to call me to re-schedule. I in turn called the owner “Bill” and explained that I was annoyed that no-one bothered to contact me and needed to schedule another appointment. He said he understood and another time was made for November 20, 2013. Another technician, (supposedly the general manager) arrived at the designated time and applied another chemical to all the rooms. He also asked why the first tech didn’t do the back of my couch and other things which made me think; OK this guy is going to do the job correctly! He also said that the prior treatments were made to “BRING ALL THE BUGS OUT” (which I thought was very strange,) but being a novice I accepted this explanation. After he finished, we thanked him (my son and son-in-law) and he noted that if this application failed or a notable improvement wasn’t made then the next time “SMOKE BOMBS” would have to be used and we would have to vacate the premises for 4-6 hours. I immediately said “PLEASE CALL FIRST” AND HE ASSURED ME THAT A CALL WOULD BE MADE. After experiencing more problems, a call was made to “Bill,” in order to substantiate the date and time of the next visit. The bottom line is the work WAS NOT completed after having a verbal altercation on the telephone. This was due to my daughter calling to confirm the time and also my son calling (who was at work) and knew I was distressed. Bill became quite upset with my son and told him his conversation was being recorded because he felt threatened. Please note my son is an EMT ambulance driver and had a patient with him at the time of his call. When I called him back on this, he was RUDE and extremely unprofessional. He started a diatribe of demeaning insults with racial overtones to me and also said he called me 2-3 times to advise me of the time and date. This is not so, because every call is recorded on my cordless phone which has caller ID and documents the date and time of each call, and I have an answering service if I am not available. This notification was too long to put on your website and I wanted to advise you of the negative events I encountered with this company, namely the owner, and further action will be made to get reimbursed for non-service!

It went well. There was one different person that came each time they came. They were both very nice and they did the job professionally and they took care of what the problem was.

Arrived on time. Very professional & straight forward. Would highly recommend.

Our experience with this company was among the worst .that I have ever had. We purchased the big deal and we're expecting to be contacted on 11/15 based on the text of the ad. We receive a message on Sunday 11/17 asking us to call the office which my wife did on Monday morning. On Friday I called and tried t explain that we had not heard from the company. I was told that it was not possible since the person on the phone was the owner and he returned all calls. He became defensive and rude at one point calling me a liar. He suggested that we misdialed which was not possible since we use the call log for his phone number. I was very surprised with his reaction since his ratings were positive and even went so far as to suggest that his behavior would result in a negative review. He told me he did n care and that he would simply rebut my comments. I have cancelled the purchase, will contact Angie's list for a refund and will find a more professional exterminator.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was only okay at best. His follow up wasn't what he said it would be. He was supposed to come out another time after that and he never showed. They certainly didn't keep their contract up. I had a 6 month guarantee and they didn't keep that up. He was supposed to plug up some holes and that never happened. He put two boxes out on the property and said he would put out additional ones and that never happened. It was a new home and I didn't have any issues but they were looking for mice. The bottom line was that they just didn't hold the contractual agreement. They didn't do what they said they were gong to do. He was a nice enough guy but he didn't live up to the guarantee. I don't think I got what I paid for.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was satisfactory. I would say that it was good. The gentleman that performed it was very friendly. Overall, it was excellent.

It went fine. They did a good job. They didn't do repairs and they said they didn't see any. I'm not sure it is $199 worth of mouse traps, but on the other hand, they put them wherever we thought there might be some activity. They were here three times in total so that was good, they followed up.

I am a very picky and diligent person. I bought a fixer-upper knowing I could make it work. But there were animals with the previous owner and the place was riddled with fleas and other minor insects. Bill was super responsive, understood my issue, talked me through a treatment plan that included coming back in a few months after the house is done being fixed up, and fumigating one last time (in addition to the 2 times he was already coming out as is normal with most fumigation). Don't get confused, I will pay for another treatment in the spring, but he stated he would consider it in the price and warranty, and he came the next day also (after I sent him an e-mail Sunday night at 8:00pm). Just very helpful, flexible and pleasant

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. In the beginning it was not so good because the person never followed up and did not come out to the house when he was supposed to. But, I contacted the owner and he fixed everything afterwards so it was fine.

There seemed to be a communication gap for the 1 of 3 treatments. We need pre-treatment prep instructions for next time. Don't spray near the bird as requested by my wife next time!

Nothing to tell other than calling to schedule service. This was a double purchase order by accident.

The owner was in a car wreck on the day of our appointment, but sent someone out for free to make up for it. We had three problems: silverfish in the bathroom, ants in the kitchen and some sort of hairy crickets in the basement. The silverfish were the most disturbing, since they eat clothes and books. They are gone, as far as we can tell. The ants did not disappear, but seem gone now as winter approaches. The hairy crickets are still around, but we're not too worried about them. Perhaps with these problems, we would need another spray. When the owner missed his commitment, he made good on it.

Bought the Angies List deal for general insect control after seeing lots of spiders and ants. Bill was very thorough with the treatment as well as visual inspection for potential problem areas. Haven't seen any bugs since, but feel comfortable knowing he guarantees his work and will come back if they do.

It went well. They were prompt and completed the job quickly and efficiently. I have not seen additional signs of termites, however, the treatment came with a warranty and the owner assured me I could call back and they would take care of any concerns should they arise. I think they really do " Make bugs dead"!

We called these guys after a buyer of our house had a termite inspection that found evidence of termites. Bill came out a few days later and inspected the places that the buyers inspector identified. He was very honest and professional and said that our house had previously been treated and that he didn't see evidence of an "active" infestation. We went ahead with the treatment. It took him a few hours and he was gone. A few days later he emailed us the certificate for the 5 year warranty on his work.

The tech came back a week after he initially set the traps and he found a mouse in one of the traps. He checked all around the ceiling (the mouse was found in the basement ceiling tiles) and couldn't see evidence of any more. He checked around the outside of the house and plugged a couple of holes with bait. It's been almost two weeks and we haven't heard any more mice. I would definitely recommend this company and will use them again if needed.

I contacted RoughNeck prior to purchasing their annual contract deal to ensure they handled our area and advise that the TENANTS were having issues and what those issues were. Bill knew it was a rental property before I purchased the contract. Once purchased I selected suggested appointment times for the tenants and forwarded his number on to them since they are available more than I am. The tenants advise they reached out to him to set up an appointment. I received a message via Angie's List that he does not deal with tenants so I called to discuss. Perhaps I just need to give approval that he could treat the property? Bill was a bit arrogant from the beginning but I tried to overlook that because his reviews were perfect. I told him I wasn't available during the day to meet him which is why the tenants would schedule that directly. He advised they were calling him at 9:30pm to setup appointments (which I need to confirm with tenants but they're reasonable and know what business hours are) He went so far as to ask, "Why can't you be there during the day?" That would be because I work. He advised he will meet me after work and we started negotiating the appointment. We finally settled on Friday at 4:30pm, I would meet him at the property so the tenants could show him the issues and he could treat. When he confirmed that changed to "Between 4:30 and 5:30pm." I asked him if I could have 3:30 - 4:30 and he told me he had a prior appointment during that time. At that point I knew it wasn't going to be 4:30 but more like 5:00pm or even more if he was further away -- Friday afternoon rush hour? I hung up ... the combination of his rudeness and tone, I would have to talk to him another time. Thankfully Bill called back to advise he was issuing a full refund (which I had already asked for via Angie's List!) since he doesn't deal with tenants and I was being tough to deal with(??) I then received an email: I a lready have..... you purchased the deal... I tired to make the appointment you got childish and hung-up the phone... normally its a 2hour window I tried everything to make it work.. I know I just cant please some people. So, lesson learned ... call and talk to the contractor first before purchasing their "deal" to make sure they truly are accommodating and what their policies and procedures are regarding tenants.

Very professional and punctual, Originally they came out on 8/3, I still saw roaches so they came back out on 9/7. Afer that I noticed a dramatic decrease in the roaches. They are coming back out on 9/14 to follow up. I purchased the Angie List deal and could't be happier!

They were very responsive. Unfortunately the owner was ill the day of the first visit, so he sent a technician that was relatively new to the job...but he worked very hard to make sure the job was done and done correctly. He left a few bait blocks under the deck not enclosed in boxes, which I called the owner about as I have dogs, cats and kids...he sent the technician back to remove and replace the bait properly enclosed. I was very happy with Roughneck's performance and attention to the satisfaction of their clients...a very good experience. I would recommend them highly and will probably be switching my general pest control from Orkin to Roughneck. They are very knowledgeable, thorough and professional. Very good overall experience, despite the initial glitch.

He suggested that a roofer fix the overhanging flashing which will make the bats find another home. I tried to pay him for his time and diagnostics of the situation but he wouldn't take payment for the diagnostics. A Class Act ! A++.

The service turned out fine. The owner was really friendly however I feel the next time he comes back I would use a different type of spray. He used the eco-friendly spray because I have small kids and a dog, so that was very thoughtful but I have noticed a patch since then so I wouldn't say that it did a better job than the regular stuff. I didn't pay anything other than the value of the big deal and I signed up for his quarterly spraying treatments.
