Owner Bill has been a friend of mine for 20 years. He started a job for me and when my husband attempted to confirm our second appointment, bill flew off the handle yelling and screaming like a lunatic. He hung up on us and refused to finish a job he started and told us to hire someone else. What business professional acts this way? Oh and he won't even tell me what chemicals he used so I can let the next one know. I also have a 14 month old to be concerned about when it comes to chemicals, but why would bill care? He didn't leave us any instructions for upkeep In between treatments so he most likely made the situation even worse. He does super shoddy and shady work. He's a complete hot mess, fly off the tail kinda guy and I don't want him anywhere me or my home again.

1st of all [Member Name Removed] never paid for this service second of all the husband would not give me a chance to finish the job I was working on and call him back later. Also I had surgery that day so I sent one of my employees which they both knew I had surgery and I wasn't able to be there but I did come back 2 days later to make sure the job was done right and also I sent the proper paperwork to them. I have been doing free services for the so-called friend of mine for years. And this is the thanks I get..

Jon from Roughneck came back as a repeat visit, although billed as a separate visit given the almost one year interval, for a recurring mouse problem. He charged us the full price, rather than a return visit price, which included follow up for up to 60 days. He came out and laid a few traps but did not seal any of the openings. When we called for a return visit at about 6 weeks, he answered his phone but said he was coming back from vacation and can he get back to me. I said, sure, no problem, and sent him a text message for available times to come the following week. He never followed up, and 5 unreturned phone calls later, we are finished with Roughneck. If you select to use this service, keep in mind the poor communication.

The technician, John, showed up bright and early as scheduled. He set 3 different types of traps and also threw a bunch of bait packages in a crawl space in the basement which is where he suspected the mice were getting in. Within 2 days we did not see another mouse. John came back to the house 1 or 2 times after the initial inspection as part of their rodent abatement package.

The initial call and scheduling was great. was able to provide same day service. Technicians that came to house were courteous and professional. They sprayed the soffits, front & back porch for bee/hornets. We saw decrease in bees/hornets & were found dead ones on porch next day. Did not see any for days, then started to see one or two once in a while. About one week later we had approx. 10 bees/hornets on our outside porch light every morning & a few on the back porch light. I called and spoke with Bill who said he would service in the next day or two (dependent upon weather). Bill explained how bees travel for weeks and return so they were probably worker bees (fine, I understand that). After another week passing, we began to see one or two bees again (figured they were more worker bees returning), but then woke to find approx. 10 bees on the porch light again and also on the motion light. I emailed Roughneck via their website as it was early morning (7:45am) & I was heading to work and wanted to get on their schedule as soon as possible. I then called the office # at 10am to follow up on request to be sure it was received. I was told that Bill was training someone and that he'll be returning calls shortly. No problem. I called again at 2pm and was told that no message was received and that Bill will call me. At 3pm I sent a follow-up email to the customer service email address on their website asking for a follow-up as to if work will be completed same day or not. At 5:30pm I received a phone call from the owner Bill who 'nicely' pointed out that I didn't follow company policy by emailing and that I should've called (even though I called twice), and that he didn't appreciate the email I sent bashing his company (the email stated the same as above ... ?) I requested service again, as my husband is extremely allergic to bees. Bill stated that he couldn't control the elements and nature and flying insects, and that he already treated the house and also used a powder that will last "forever & forever". He then also advised he removed a nest last time he came out. I questioned why I wasn't provided a follow-up to that visit, and Bill told me that I should've called them if I wanted to know what was done. The phone conversation was very demeaning as Bill continued to call me names (rude, hag, ignorant, stupid, etc) anytime I would question his service, product or warranty. Bill also stated that I treated his employees badly which he could not give an example of (as the technicians that came to the house were very nice and respectful and did a great job, and the gentleman on the phone was friendly both times - so had no reason to be rude). I have never been spoken to so negatively for a service that I paid for. I will never use them again and definitely will not refer them to anyone. Which is a shame as everyone else was extremely nice, but Bill is just rude. I am sure that Bill will respond negatively to this review (as he has others), but I'm not a liar (though he will call me such) and I am not difficult to deal with. I give respond when deserved and will provide a good review for a job done. Truthfully, I was scared to post a review as I am afraid of retaliation from this company (as they know my name & address) - but I do not think it is right to be treated this way, and others need to be aware.

As Explained on the phone.... Service cannot be scheduled via email... We Removed the hive and did follow services as the customers request.. the customer wants us to control every flying insect. I explained to her that that's impossible at that time the customer became very rude and didn't like being told the truth

They came multiple times to spray for a cockroach infestation. Technician who came was polite and courteous. Took several sprays to control the problem, but they kept coming back until the job was done.

The two guys that came to service the inside of my home were extremely nice and professional and did a great job. The owner was supposed to treat the backyard and we were all home when he supposedly came to service it. He claims he came over and climbed the fence to service our yard. We never saw him and cant believe he didnt knock the door, or at least inform us he had done so. When I brought up my concerns he began to yell at me over the phone. We have no idea whether he actually came to perform the service, especially considering we were all home and didnt see him, and the dogs didnt bark either, and we still have pest issues at our home after the treatment. IN RESPONSE TO ROUGHNECK PEST CONTROL RESPONSE: The previous owner and partner that came into my un-cluttered, neat, and clean home (cluttered home in Bill's words) was very professional, as was the man that helped inside my home. I received two treatments. You were then recalled for a third treatment inside my house because I still had flea problems. My dogs were treated with Frontline, but were still being bit. I do not have a vacuum with bags. I have a Rainbow, and yes I vacuumed every day, two times a day for two weeks! Were you here when I vacuumed? No! In the event you don't know what a Rainbow is... you vacuum everything into a basin of water that is then dumped outside. The problem I have with you, is that you screamed at me on the phone because I complained about you climbing a six-foot high privacy fence to supposedly treat the back yard. We were all home, why didn't you just knock on the door? Common sense. You never told me that you were out there and I have a small child that plays in the yard- that was the issue! No one heard or saw you. My dogs were in the back room and bark at the slightest sound. I tape recorded the phone conversation in which you repeatedly screamed at me in regards to whether or not you actually treated my back yard and that fact that you kept insisting I would not listen to what you were saying about the granulars and not the spray. I got that part, but you just kept hollering at me! The fourth treatment was the only outside treatment. Would you like me to include the link, so people can actually hear the way you talk to you customers? I thank you for your service to our country, but I will not ever use your pest control service again. I did not post a comment on Angie's List right away as I was so stunned at the way I was treated. I don't care about your warranty, as I found a true professional, but I do care about posting lies about your customer because of your lack of professionalism. You have a nice day!

I am sorry you have a hard time believing the service was done... We serviced you in the same way we do all our customers. Due to rain/snow we could not treat your yard at the right times. on the other issue of your flea problem: 1) you have not vacuumed your home 2x a day for 2 weeks and throw away bags after each use. 2) you need to eliminate clutter conditions. 3) have not had the animals treated with frontline. Now that you only had a 90 day warranty its now the end of July2014. Your service was started on 11/8/2013 first service. Second service 11/15/2013.. Third service 12/10/2013... Fourth service 12/19/2014.. The Third and Fourth services were outside treatments. You are long outside of your 90 day warranty. Roughneck Pest Control has provided you with all services as described the warranty was only for 90 days.

Second time using Angie's List and I have to say my experience both times have been excellent. Round Pest returned my call within 24 hours and I was scheduled for service that same week. They were on time, courteous and explained how and why of the services provided. Would definitely recommend them!

.The gentleman that came was very polite. He arrived on time and in a jacket with the company logo. He answered any questions we had particularly concerning the traps and our pets. He got right to work and finished up quickly. On his return visit, the owner of the company happened to be with him. He quietly observed. The service technician again was prompt and polite.
Description of Work: The service man came in and took a look at all the locations of possible ingress for rodents. He then set traps and identified our main problem area which we should fix to avoid further mice. 3 weeks later he came back to check and replace the traps and make sure there was no new entrances into the house. He explained there was a 6 month guarantee on the work and again pointed out what to fix to avoid more mice

Bill was very thorough in reporting his findings and did a full treatment of our house that we were selling. He was also able to point out the errors in another termite inspection that was done on our property which was also helpful. After he was done, he emailed us the certificate for the guarantee, which we passed onto our buyers. We were very happy with him.

The gentleman came out and asked for more money ($150) since it was a small building. He performed the first extermination but found no bugs. He arranged for quarterly extermination treatments. My tenant called me in February and advised that they had seen another roach. They sent another exterminator who was also unable to find any live roaches. I requested that they send me the paperwork but had not received it when they called me back to schedule the April treatment. I requested that they call me back so that I can receive a copy of the paperwork. When he did call me back, he told me I should have the paper work already. I advised I had not received a copy, and if there was even a slight chance that I had missplaced it, I would simply like a copy again. The man became very angry and kept interrupting me. I told him he could not speak to me like that and he hung up. He called back a few minutes later and left a message on my voicemail and said he must have gone through a dead-zone on his cell phone and the call had been dropped. I doubt that was the case, but at any rate, I do not want to do business with this service provider again.

They were very knowledgeable and they handled business fairly well. There are some scheduling issues based on the owner is injured so things have been spacing out a little bit and fairly effective. He paced the visit over two weeks the scheduling gets a little spaced out due to injury and all that. They were fairly prompt for the first visit. The people were very nice, no problems there. The price was fair. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Roughneck Pest Control Big Deal purchase in January. They came and they basically scoped area with some special equipment and cameras and stuff and they put out different kind of traps that were not necessarily effective when you try to catch mice and stuff.

The Technician, John K, arrived on time that morning. He went into my basement for about 30 seconds. He said he didn't see any way they could be getting in through my basement. I asked him if I could turn on additional lights for him. He told me it wasn't neccessary. Then he came upstairs to my first floor and I showed him the space behind our powder room toilet where my husband had seen the critter trying to get in. We had already plugged it with steel wool. He told me how steel wool was the thing to use but how we were using the wrong kind. Did he bother to replace the steel wool himself? No way. He told me my husband should go to home depot and get the industrial grade kind and refill all the places we had plugged. Then he looked under my sink. He removed the steel wool there, put some poison in the hole and refilled the hole. Then he placed 3 glueboards stuck together to make one large one under my stove and then he put something behind my washing machine. He was in my home maybe 10 minutes tops and he was handing me a bill for $200 plus tax. Not only did he do nothing more than my regular guy does, HE DID LESS! It really left a bad taste in my mouth but I knew there was a follow up visit in 2 weeks and I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt. I was to be scheduled for Friday, Feb 7th in the same time slot. 9-11 am, first thing in the morning. On tuesday 2/4 at 11:53 am I recevied a missed call and a message from JENNIFER at Roughneck on my cell phone saying they we going to need to reschedule my appointment and in her message which I have saved to my iphone she asked me if they could do Tuesday the 11th between 8:30 and 9:30. I was at work when she called but I listened to her message and I called her back within 30 minutes. I explained that my children had a dentist appointment at 9:30 on tuesday the 11th and we came to an agreement that he could come the next day, Wednesday the 12th at the same time. She quoted me again while we were on the phone with a time slot of 8:30-9:30. Once again, I repeat, I have the voicemail message saved with her quoting that time the first time. Wednesday the 12th rolls around and at 9:15 when no one had arrived my husband asked me to check in with them as he was needing to get into work and couldn't wait all morning. I called in and was told we were not on the schedule. Obviously I was upset. I got a call back from Bill the owner who had been a very nice man in the beginning who was all of a sudden very accusatory. I'd had enough and told him I was at work and was unable to talk at that time. He called me back at work a short while later and said he wanted to make it right. I explained to him how I had already been skeptical and dissapointed in the service we had gotten in the first place and detailed my experience. He apologized and told me how he was going to look into it and how he would personally service my account from here out. We scheduled for Saturday the 15th with the understanding that if the weather was crummy, we would need to reschedule. This evening I recevied a message from Bill stating that he was canceling my appointment due to incelment weather and that I needed to call him back and talk to him about how he had reviewed his call logs and I had never called back to schedule the appointmentand how I was wrong and not his employee. I got the message and returned his call a few minutes later. When I called I explained that I was a little upset with the tone of the messgae I was again being left and he started in by saying "well of course I sound that way, you lied to me." I don't know who Bill thinks he is, but I have phone records and call logs and saved voicemails too. I started to say to him how I had called back from work and he just got more and more defensive about how I accused his employee of giving a time she would "never give" and lied to him. I told him I was not interested in being spoken to like this, that I was done and I hung up. He called me back again only to continue arguing and berating me. I have never been spoken to in such an unprofessional manner in my life. We are all human and we all lose our tempers here and there but people have seem to have just decided they can be tough on the phone and treat people with disrepect and I am tired of it. No more benefit of the doubt here. The fact that multiple dealings with Roughneck have turned into the people in this company becoming immediately accusatory and defensive tells me its not the first time something like this has happened here. Once again, I will state that I have the voicemail saved where JENNIFER from this company say they want to reschedule for between 8:30 and 9:30 am. Its a fact and I would love for Bill to hear it. I implore and invoite him to come to my home and have a listen. And I ALSO have the call log from my work phone showing the outgoing call from me and his calls back to me on the same line. Bill from Roughneck pest control you should think twice before assuming the worst of your customer. I appreciate loyalty and standing by your employees but she made a mistake here and you are 100% wrong to speak to me like you did. Check your record again, I called you back from 215-218-20XX (Ill give you the rest if you dare to follow up). Its the same number you called me back at 2 times. and if its not in your call records, then you are modifying them. It's that simple. Seriously, check yourself and grow up. Description of Work: I contacted Roughneck about a problem we were having with mice that seemed more persistent than usual in the cold weather. we live in a south philly row home so they are a contact thing we have to keep up with. We have a regular guy that comes monthly, sprays for bugs, put down glue boards when we need it. He charges us $20 a month. I have been using him for 5 years but he's been sick and hadn't come since before Christmas so I went to Angie's list looking for someone who specialized in rodents. I thought maybe if we got a specialized treatment it would be worth the extra added cost. Bill got back to me within probably an hour of my intial email and scheduled us for an appointment that Friday. He listened to my concerns and seemed like a very nice man. He told me he was sending me his best techinician. So far, I was pleased and impressed.

First of all this customer did not return our calls to reschedule service. Then she calls on on Wednesday to tell us that we did not come between the time of 830-9am First of all our company meeting is on wednesday mornings and we when we schedule an appointment have a minimum of a 2hr window. I took the time and research this I had her work phone number due to the fact I called her back on it. I also went through each of the phone calls over 4 days... I took 3 days to go over phone Logs we record all calls for compliance checks. The customer never booked a follow up. Next our tech was out at her property for a time of 35mins thanks to gps tracking. our plans and service needs multiple visits. Due to the Snow we closed because of the city shut down. My company was accused of not doing its job.... When a office staff member does not do their job correctly they are subject to termination. I reviewed all logs and conversations that transversed I have found that this customer was wrong. She never called us back to make an appointment for Wednesday. She had a temper tantrum when I told her my finding that she was untrue to me...Her response was to hang up. All this customer has done is bash my company and said mistruths. . I am a Marine Vet with integrity I hold myself and my staff with high standards and when a person accuses them of misconduct I take this very seriously!!! I investigate and take appropriate actions, But when it isn't there faults I will defend them to the end. I am Loyal/Fair to my staff and my customers I will Always Seek Out The Truth!

Haven't seen a bed bug since early December. It was an unnerving experience with these bugs. Bill always called back within a few minutes of my call, and is always positive and reassuring........A followup phone call to Bill in the middle of April to report seeing two bed bugs in our bedroom revealed a darker side of Bill that we did not witness earlier. My wife called to report the sightings as we were told that we had a six month warranty from the last treatment. She became unnerved when Bill got loud and tried to talk her down saying that our warranty was up and that we would have to pay to get more service. She said that as she tried to speak to him she was continually cut off by Bill with him saying over and over that the warranty was done. She said that he was going to have to speak to her husband and proceeded to hang up on him. I called Bill awhile later and found all my wife's experiences to be true. I said we were told our warranty was six months after the last treatment and he said I was wrong, that it was six months from the FIRST treatment. We had two subsequent vists after the first three after seeing more bedbugs in our bedroom. The second of these his assistant lifted the box spring and saw the bugs on our bed frame and said that was the frame was not treated earlier and that was why we still had bugs. he sprayed our bedroom and the whole frame and we didn't see a bedbug untill mid April. As I explained all this to Bill he was trying to shout me down saying I was wrong and that I was just trying to get free service. He said that he personally was at my home for all three intial visits, which is not true. I have a signed invoice of him for the first visit. All other invoices were signed by his employee. Bill was loud and combative during the entire conversation. By the end of our conversation, if Bill had offered to come out to our home I would have refused, as I was so mad with him by the way he spoke to my wife and myself, a customer. I told him I was going to report him to Angie's List, and he said "go ahead, who cares". I waited awhile to update this review, as time has a way to heal all wounds. But I read how others had similar experiences with Bill so I decided to go through with this. So intially the service went well, then went very bad at the end. When presented with a dispute, Bill becomes loud and combative with poor people skills.
Description of Work: Our home had an infestation of bedbugs in the front bedroom, living room, and basement. Bill came out and sprayed our whole home. Our home was sprayed in follow up visits.

Still in the 6-month process. Had some trouble scheduling follow up visits due to bad weather. They've come once after the initial visit and are due again soon. Technician seemed very knowledgable and thorough. My tenant swears there are rats but Roughneck found no such evidence, only a few small mice.

It went well. The rodents were abated. They were quick and efficient. They knew what they were doing. They were more competent than other places that I have used. They just did an abatement and a followup. I only paid for the big deal price and it was pretty reasonable. The quality of their work was good and they were friendly. I would definitely use them again in the future if the need arises.
Description of Work: I used the big deal that I purchased from Roughneck Pest Control for a rodent abatement package.

Purchased rodent abatement package for $199 on Angie's List. Set up date and time for appointment. Nobody showed up, nobody called, and nobody responded to several phone calls and messages left. Have not heard from anybody about this and I want my money refunded.

the owner bill bethel went out to service on Saturday morning knocked on door no response at 9 a.m. In between the scheduled time customer calls up on Sunday morning the owner also tries to call him back no answer roughneck pest control cannot serve as a customer that does not answer the door. We are sorry that the customer didn't answer the door we've made further tries to try to contact this customer and the customer has never returned any calls back.

I think this is definitely an above average company, and the technician was very knowledgeable and experienced. I think the pests are finally contained (just about; not eradicated), on the third attempt. The initial attempt was a complete fly-through, the tech was in and out of my house within 5-10 minutes. They nailed the crickets but failed to make a dent in the roaches. Follow-up was a bit nerve-wracking (one time they didn't return my call after I left a message, and another time they reminded me of the policy to wait for two weeks before scheduling a follow-up). To their credit they came back two times at no additional charge (i.e. they honor the three month guarantee), the first time extensively spraying the kitchen (and asking me to save samples of any roaches for any follow-up visit :)) and the next time carefully placing a large number of special baits in every conceivable drawer and closet. This finally did the trick -- roaches were gone for a few weeks, and won't usually appear now (mostly baby ones) unless we leave food out. The baits will wear out soon. When they do, will we engage them again? I don't know, but I will at least shop around first and consider others.
Description of Work: They treated the home with particle bait for crickets and cockroaches, and sprays for stink bugs and cockroaches. They came twice more after initial contact when I still saw roaches.
