A workman came and measured the space, made a drawing and was told exactly what we wanted. There needed to be room for a dresser to open its doors next to the closet. The drawing promptly forgotten, the measurements were off and we had to squeeze the dresser in. It is very expensive furniture which we love, but we were told on 2 occasions that maybe we should just get rid of the piece!!!! Then the work started and stopped and started and stopped as we waited for one reason or the other while a 2-3 day job turned into 3 weeks! No mention was made of what kind of cloet pole would be used or any of the materials. Since I had showed them everything and described in detail what had been there before, I assumed they would know to use upscale pole and brackets, etc. The brackets I got look like a flower pot hanger you use outside and the cheapest pole you could buy. I never saw them until they were already installed. ! I was called to the closet to look at the work and before I could say anything the installer proceeded to tell me that he will have to move the half high pole because he thought he had put it too low. I said I thought so too and went to get a shirt to show him the clothes would not fit the way he had the pole at the time. I commented that we should have used the whole pole instead of half as it did not look right and would not hold enough clothes. He said we could do that no problem since he had to take it down anyway because it is the wrong height. I said if you can that would be fine. No mention was made of any up charge and there really was no change as it was a whole pole in place of a half...not an extra pole and not an extra bracket. Well when I was ready to pay the bill, they tell me there was extra work and materials because the pole had to be moved and it was $100 extra cost! In the first place the pole had to be moved or else our clothes would be hanging on the floor and that was their fault so where's the extra money due? Then, part of the job was to take our carpet remaining and put it in the closet. There was a part that was yellowed from non-use. Instead of not using that part, the guy who was supposed to be an experienced installer, pieced it in chunks and put the yellow part right were you can see it. Also he used a staple gun on it and told me it was just crinkled from lying there. As if that was bad enough the rug guy pushed our bureau and broke the leg on it. He never told us and instead hid the leg behind the bureau and left. I took pictures of the broken leg, the rug on the other side showing he had moved it and also the crushed pieces where the leg should screw in and now can not! While the rug was going down, Remodeling Concepts called and told me to give the rug guy a check to pay off our work! I refused! called before they left. It was like I was being rushed to pay before I even Ok'd the work. Not knowing anything about the bureau, I called and paid you guys in good faith after looking at the carpet. I did not go upstairs until after work and then when I passed by the bureau, I saw the damage. I emailed and called Remodeling Concepts and even sent pictures. My response was an email from the owner trying to explain why he wanted the extra money and saying he was confused as to why we felt we shouldn't pay for the pole incident and also if we could get the bureau fixed they would reimburse us. I told him I thought I had explained now to 3 people exactly what happened and wasn't paying extra. So for now, since the furniture is from Italy and the store is no longer in business we have been calling around to get a master furniture repairman for the dresser. When we do we will send them a copy of the bill.
Description of Work: Tear down and replace clothes closet in bedroom. Put in poles to hang clothes and shelf and paint inside closet and any surrounding area affected. Replace rug inside of closet with our own remnants.

We apologize for this members feelings. We always strive to do all we can to achieve customer satisfaction. The customer in this case let us do our work over 7 different days, while each day we confirmed everything was great, then when the job was complete customer mentioned their issues. The carpet issue was trying to make a small piece of carpet they had left over cover a large area, we would have much preferred to replace it, but customer wanted to use what they have. The dresser in question was moved about an inch to allow for a seam to be completed on the carpet. Upon customer notifying us of this, we told them that we would be happy to correct any issues as we did not notice anything that had happened while we were there. We appreciate the opportunity to work in this members home and we look forward to being able to satisfy you in the future.
They gave a same week appointment to diagnose the issue. mentioned that they don't charge for diagnosing. One person came out on the day of appointment - he looked at the leak and checked the roof. He cleaned the gutter that was overflowiing and causing the water to seep back under the roof. He did not charge anything for gutter cleaning or diagnosis. He mentioned that nothing else was broken or needed to be fixed. Another contractor in his place may have tried to sell me new gutters - but he was straight forward. Great service.
Description of Work: Called the company to come and check on a leak in batrchroom - could not determine the cause or origin of the leak myself.

Based on the repairs done, the estimate seemed high, although the coupon price was credited toward the repairs (my reported amount includes the coupon). Once we had decided to have only the repairs done, responses to my inquiries about estimates and scheduling seemed to be less timely and enthusiastic. The worker who did the repairs was courteous and efficient. Because of the limited amount of repairs and the location, it is hard for me to judge the quality, but we have had no problems to date.
Description of Work: Conducted a $99.00 Angie's List Special "roof tune-up." We knew that several shingles had blown off during a winter storm, but the tune-up identified some additional problems.

David Martin actually came out originally to look at some specific leak issues I had. Other contractors had looked at the job and said they could fix it but I really needed a new roof - David was the only one who said he could fix the leak and assured me I had a few more years left in the roof. After thinking about it I decided to replace the roof - the roof was well over 18 years old. I received 4 estimates- David's/Remodeling Concept's was one of the lowest - and Remodeling Concepts was one of the most complete and comprehensive. My only concern with Remodeling Concept's bid was the brand/model of shingle selected. According to Consumer Reports the Owens Corning Duration line that was being proposed was not that great. When I raised this concern to David, David told me that the shingle he was proposing was not the one reviewed in Consumer Reports but a recently updated version. I researched this on-line and indeed Owens Corning had upgraded and improved this line of shingle. To be honest my research on the quality of shingles for all major brands (Owens Corning, GAF CertainTeed) turned up an equal number of happy customers and unhappy customers. After reviewing all the other bids - which covered a pretty wide range of cost - the highest bid was literally 3 xs the lowest bid - I decided to go with Remodeling Concepts. It took them a few weeks to get all the permits - which was fine with me since the weather wasn't all that great during February. They didn't actually tell me the day they were going to start - but they did let me know the week. The crew that showed up was fairly large (4 or 5 people) - they managed to take off most of the roof and start putting on the new roof in one day. The entire job took about 3 days. There were some decisions made regarding the color of flashing that I should have been involved in/asked about - I would not have chosen bright white as the flashing across the window line for the front of my house. Overall the crew did a good job - but it was basically impossible to communicate with them since no one in the crew spoke english. It was a few weeks after the job was finished that we actually had our first significant rainfall. During the rain storm I noticed a leak along one of the seams - I called Remodeling Concepts and they sent someone out to check the job. The guy who came out did a very good job checking the entire roof- not just where the leak was. It turned out that the leak was caused by a pretty obvious oversight on the part of the crew - so it would have been desirable/would have made sense to have someone check the crews work before they left. Anyway - I'm pleased with the roof, and I have been very pleased with their follow-up. Remolding Concepts' price was very competitive and the overall quality of the job appears to be good. I would definitely recommend them and use them again.
Description of Work: Obtained and posted all required permits. Covered all areas of the property affected by the job. Removed all the existing shingles. Prepared deck for the new roof. Installed C 3.5" drip edge along all rakes and eaves. Installed Owens Corning Weatherlock M ice and weather-shield at all the eaves, valleys, and around the base perimeter of the chimney, walls and skylights. Installed Owens Corning Deck Defense on the balance of the roof surface. Installed Owens Corning Starter Shingle. Installed contoured neoprene vent collars to all soil pipes. Installed TruDefnition Duration Shingles - Brownwood 30 Year Shingle with Life Time Warranty. Shingles applied with 1 1/4" nails (no nail guns). All valleys were done with overlapped shingles to protect against severe weather conditions - as opposed to installing aluminum valleys which one of the other contactors had proposed. Redid the step flashing around the chimney. Installed Owens Corning Ventsure ridge vents. Installed cap shingles to all hips and ridges of roof. Chimney was cut and riglet installed - based on my research this is the best way to do this. Replaced some damage on the fascia wood on one of the doomers. Replaced all the gutters and downspouts with 6k gutters. Cleaned up the entire job and removed all debris.

Thank you for the response. I have made some changes in responsibility in my personnel since your job. The gentleman who I had there on the day of your install that was in charge of running things, did not follow through with his responsibilities of being there and finalizing all of the work. I am sorry again that you had an issue. Jack, who I sent out there to properly finish things up is now running my roofing division, he is very meticulous and does not let anything be an oversight. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our business to continue to offer a premium service and install to all of our customers. Without feedback from our customers it is difficult to make changes and strive for constant improvement. Thank you again for choosing Remodeling Concepts.

Update: This is a follow up on a previously submitted review on Remodeling Concepts, LLC...we had initially contacted them only as a result of the high recommendations given by Angie's List members...our experience was negative, as expressed in the previously submitted report. However, unbeknownst to us, when you submit a report to Angie's List, both your name and address are given to the business under review...the practice and wisdom of which one could suggest is not only questionable, but the ramifications of which could also be dangerous...but nonetheless this is apparently the procedure....although at any point I would be more than glad to discuss my questions or concerns with any service provider. Regardless, Remodeling Concepts never contacted me....we did however, once again, contact Remodeling Concepts after reading David Martin's response....errors occur, mistakes are made...give the benefit of doubt. The individual I scheduled the appointment with could not of been more professional or pleasant, and while I personally was unable to meet with David Martin when he came to our home....from what I understand, he was just as professional and courteous...as he was when I have since spoken to him on the phone. As I assured him and as a courtesy to David Martin I am amending my initial report....he made an effort to rectify the situation....our one and only reservation with Remodeling Concepts, LLC, there was more concern placed on the review that was written rather than the service we were requesting....while understandable, that in its self was very disappointing.
Description of Work: We are in the process of hiring a contractor for work on our property...went directly to Angie's List. After reviewing the reviews for Remodeling Concepts we immediately contacted them, left a complete message...including complete contact information. A week later we have yet to receive a courtesy return call. I am curious as to how this company obtained such high ratings if they are unable to extend a common courtesy of a return phone call. Hopefully this is not reflective of their work.,..although one would think the two go hand in hand.Very disappointing. Update: Contacted Remodeling Concepts for an estimate on repairs and replacement of a porch on our house.

We apologize that this may have occurred. We are very prompt at returning emails and phone messages. My cell phone number is on Angies list and you are welcome to call that also. We have been having issues with customers trying to leave messages with our current phone system for a couple of weeks now and are number is being ported to a new phone system and should hopefully be complete within a week or two. Again I am sorry you have had to encounter this experience. I would love the opportunity to speak with you directly on my cell, 215.674.0600 as I answer and return calls on there around the clock. Email is also another great way to get ahold of us.

The job was done well, very professional. We were pleased.
Description of Work: Roofing and Siding We had leakage coming from our bedroom closet and the wall overtime became completely damaged. We also had leaks in other areas of our home. This prompted us that it was time to do something about it. We originally started contacting many roofing contractors for estimates. We knew we needed our siding done as well, but the roof was more of a priority. Reluctant to go through this process as we were ripped off just 3 years ago from a roofing contractor. We called and received about 8 or 9 estimates total, estimates were not consistent and this made us nervous, and we took our time. Our last estimate was from Remodeling Concepts, Brad inspected, Dave went over details gave a a great price for the completion of our roofing and the siding. (We had a small amount of siding on our home). He made us feel comfortable and he appeared to be honest and a man of integrity. Brad who was also nice, had confidence that his crew could successfully complete the process. We went over colors and shingles they started within a day or two. Job was completed within two days. They worked 7 hours each day. A crew for siding, a crew for the roof. We did have a few minor details that needed adjusting. They did not have any problems reassessing the situation and or correcting . We feel confident that if we have any problems in the future they would not have a problem coming back and assisting us.

ange box store. It went very well. Rick came out and estimated. A quote was emailed to me a day or two later. I scheduled the work. They arrived on-time. I left for work and Rick called me when the job was almost finished. They went the extra mile and replaced one piece of plywood that wasn't in great shape when the shingles were removed. They laid tarps everywhere so there was absolutely no mess in my yard when I got home. The roof looks great!
Description of Work: Remodeling Concepts replaced the roof on my garage. Their quote was half the price of the big orange box store.

I contacted Dave after viewing the many good reviews from Angies List. We scheduled a meeting for an estimate and he was on time and had a quick turn around in providing me a quote. The scope of my project had many different variables, and he was able to break down the quote to meet my requests. I decided to hire Home Remodeling Concepts for the removal of the wall between my kitchen and dining room. Hollie at the office was great in coordinating a time that worked with my schedule for the work to be completed. Dave had his structural engineer out prior to the construction to provide that the work would be structurally sound. Dave then sent his two man crew, who arrived right on time to start the work. They worked up until 7PM to make sure that the job was completed properly and all debris was removed. The were very detailed and precise with their work, worked straight through the day, and cleaned up nicely. My whole experience with Home Remodeling Concepts was a very pleasant one from beginning to end. I would definitely use them for future projects and have recommended them as well. (They are currently assisting in a renovation on my brothers house).
Description of Work: Dave and his team came in and opened up a wall from my kitchen into my dining room and installed a steel beam for reinforcement. The project included demolition of existing brick wall and reinforcement with new steel beam header.

It was very positive. They were reasonable and they did everything on time as expected.
It went well, overall. See my comments above regarding the professionalism and skill of the owner and workers on the job. We were very happy with the work that was done.
Description of Work: We had new siding installed on 2nd and 3rd levels of our home and it took about a week. The guys were professional and did a great job with cleanup too. We also had a new blue stone patio installed and walkway along the front, entire side of our house, and rear of our house. This was a big project and took about 3 weeks but again, the main guy on the job as well as the Salesman/owner, Dave, were extremely professional at all times and very thorough.. They offered us many alternatives and I was always able to get in touch with the owner about questions at anytime. I would definitely recommend them to someone for siding and patio, sidewalk masonry work but they do everything.

Of six requests, we received five quotes. Of the five who came to provide an estimate, David was the only one who after assessing the job, provided his estimate on the spot and asked to come in. He sat at our kitchen table to review the estimate line by line, explained what they would be doing and why. All others handed us a folder and said they would be emailing us their estimate. This being a big ticket item we appreciated David taking the time to explain the job. His bid landed in the middle of the pack. We made our decision and communication with his office was flawless. Once the job started the foreman and his crew met our expectations of being, professional, courteous, hard working & detail oriented. As the job was wrapping up, the foreman did a preliminary walk-through and began to point out area's that were not done to his expectations (some flashing wasn't that crisp). He let us know he would be sending a crew to re-do the work. They came back the next day and fixed the areas he had highlighted. They also did a great job of cleaning up all of the debris, at times we didn't think they could leave our property in the same condition they found it, but they did. After everything was completed we had one more minor concern and they came out the same day to address it. From start to finish they have been very professional and a pleasure to work with.

Prompt for estimate. Straightforward, understandable explanation of work to be done, honest estimate without prolonged negotiations or conditionals. Work crew showed up slightly early, finished all work in 1 day (7:00am to 6:00pm). Since they finished after dark, the entire crew returned the next day to finish clean-up. Left the yard/shrubs/etc. clear of remnants from old shingles, nails, etc. Owner returned two days later to see if there was anything we were dissatisfied with, questions we had, minor touchups we wanted him to do. Very honest, professional all the way!
Description of Work: Estimate on replacing roof. Removal of all old shingles. Install ice and water shield, shingles, new drip edge, ridge vents, pipe collars, and chimney flashing.
Because of the small space for the bathroom, some adjustments had to be made with the original plan, e.g. the shower area was reduced somewhat and the dimensions of the storage areas were adjusted. However, all of the adjustments made sense and worked out very well. I am very pleased with the end result. The cabinetry was custom made in order to fit within the dimensions of my space. Because of this there were some lag times in the work being done until the pieces were ready. However, this was known up front and was not an issue as far as the length of time needed to complete the project. Dave and Steve, the primary guys who were involved with my job were easy to talk to and work with. They took the time to listen to my questions and concerns and worked with me to get satisfactory solutions to any unexpected issues that arose. Since mine is an older home, some adjustments had to be made because of space and location of access areas for pipes and wiring. Everything was worked out to my satisfaction. Work did get delayed because of an error with the vanity counter supplier. The counter did not match the pattern that I picked out. Without hesitation, Dave had it remade to be sure it met with my satisfaction. I have been enjoying my new bathroom and storage spaces for a few weeks and am very satisfied with the outcome. The bathroom especially really turned out well. It is my favorite room in the house!
Description of Work: Renovation to two-story row home in S. Phila. included adding a bathroom to connect with the master bedroom. Bathroom included a shower, sink with vanity and built-in storage space. new window, wall paint and flooring. Closet and storage space was also added to the master bedroom and storage added in the second floor hallway. Miscellaneous electrical work was done to upgrade wiring, a wall outlet and install a porch light. Upstairs hall ceiling was drywalled and insulated.

So far, the work has gone pretty good. It cost me $12000. The owner, Dave Martin, is pretty cool. He is an anonymous guy. He takes care of getting the project through. The workers are very good and very thorough. The workers that he used cut corners a little bit, which I think one finds with any set of contractors. I found a few things, but he came back and got it fixed right away. If I was not diligent with the checking, I would have realized the problem later on. There are a couple of extra costs. Once he puts up the shingles, some decking replacement needs to be done. He responds to any concerns I have and resolves them. His price is one of the lower ones, and his work for the price is pretty awesome. He was very punctual. His workers started a little quickly.
Description of Work: I used the services of Remodeling Concepts 3 weeks ago. I needed all new roof, all new siding, and all new gutters. They are finishing up work now.

They showed up, got the job done and cleaned up all in 1 day as they said they would. We have had some very bad weather since then, and the leaks are completely gone.
Description of Work: Contractor cam out and gave an estimate. We made an appointment for roof to be replaced in the back of my house.
