Response from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I am sorry that you feel that you were overcharged and would like to address your concern. We were first called to your home on January 6, 2014, to address a clogged kitchen drain. Using your Angie’s List big deal coupon ($79 for $200), we snaked the drain line and provided you with some preventative drain cleaner. The total cost for this appointment was $352 (including the $79 paid to Angie’s List). A month later, on February 20, 2014, we were called to your home again with another kitchen drain clog. There are several options when it comes to clearing a drain line. Since the basic cable clear was not a long term solution, we recommend jetting the drain line. Jetting the drain requires a skilled plumbing engineer to operate a high-pressure water jet and navigate it down the drain. This process also includes a camera inspection of the drain line and warranty. The cost for this appointment was $1,099. I understand your concern regarding the pricing (the total of BOTH jobs being $1451, not $2000). The jetter is a professional tool that we use to guarantee you a clean drain. Think of the jetter as a scalpel in the hands of a surgeon. Care and skill needs to be used to operate the tool but the results will be quality and long-lasting. Additionally, the jetting option and pricing was presented to you upfront for your consideration and decision. We do this in effort to allow our customers the knowledge of the exact cost of the job before it is done. And after we receive approval, as in your case, we perform the work to your satisfaction. Your drain line is clear and I hope that we have clarified this concern. We would welcome any continued conversations you would like to have regarding this job. Thank you for your business.
