Called to get a quote for the installation of a sump pump in a home we are purchasing. I was told I had to pay a service fee for someone to come to the home and look at it before they would tell me any sort of price. I asked if they could just give me a general price range and they refused. When they say they price by the job, not hours, it would seem they could at least give me an idea of what a sump pump installation would cost. Decided to go with another provider.

He was prompt, very professional and the there were no hidden suprizes. Everything was good.

Everything was done perfectly. I just thought the price to install the bathroom fixtures was a little excessive.

I want to start by saying I feel this is a very reputable company. The deal I purchased wasn't what I expected. $200 of labor for $99. I was hoping to have my garbage disposal and two bathroom faucets replaced. I had already purchased the fixtures and was hoping my Deal would come close to covering the labor. I should have researched their pricing structure before I purchased the Deal. Their pricing is charged by the service not by hour. Their price for replacing a garbage disposal was $235 (did not include the garbage disposal itself). That took care of my $200 worth of labor and I paid an additional $35. The estimate for installing my two faucets shocked me. The technician said he would need to replace my four shutoff valves to do the installation. That was about $250 per water line (4). My estimate was over $1000! I went to the hardware store and was advised to what I needed and replaced the faucets myself. (My current shutoff valves worked just fine). Again, I feel this would be a great company for complicated jobs. Small jobs, not so much. I will be looking for a "Handy Man" in the future for these types of jobs in the future.

They arrived on time for the scheduled appointment, and were honest, told me the hose didn't need to be replaced. They were professional, friendly, and provided good information. My wife was the only one home and the gentleman who came, made her feel very comfortable. We appreciated their honesty.

The guy they sent was great, very friendly and explained everything he was going to do.

FANTASTIC. We had two hot water heaters for two different sides of the house and one broke. It would have cost $3,000 to replace the water heater because it was on the inside of the house, but the plumber told us it would be cheaper to just replumb the plumbing and use one water heater. He did and its been GREAT!!!! Thanks Ben Franklin.

Initial scheduling was bad because the job ahead of ours was longer than expected and the dispatcher wasn't aware of the distances. They made up for it by doing all the extra work that was needed on my job for free. I think I won big time on that one, and the contractor was very good.

We purchased a "Big Deal" -- $99 for $200 of plumbing service. So when we called to make the appointment we were told there would be a $76 truck charge. This company is 1.5 miles from our house. There was no mention of this $76 fee in the "deal" that I responded to. So we would actually be paying $175 for $200 of service. How is that a savings? They make you think you're getting $200 worth of service for $99. I feel that is deceptive. So I called Angies List to complain. They contacted Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, who agreed to take the $76 charge off since it wasn't mentioned in the ad. I made the appointment and the day the plumber came out we had a tiny leak in a pipe in the basement. So we asked that it be fixed first. That alone was $236.00!! So we were over the $200 anyway. He also tried to get us to sign up for their membership program which of couse would cost more. Then he tried to charge us the $76.00 fee and my husband told him to call his company, which he did, and was told not to charge us that fee. I don't think ANYBODY should be charged that fee because it really is a very minimal savings. Now I think they changed their Big Deal to include that fee. So what's the Big Deal?

He gave us an estimate on three other problems that we just couldn't afford to fix (from ANY plumber) - we are moving. So, he gave us an EXACT estimate - we used the coupon and it was great!! There is a $76 service charge, but that was $25 less than the last plumbers who came!!!! He fixed everything AND CLEANED UP EVERYTHING!!! He fixed the ice maker water line that no one else could fix (replaced the parts on our line and in the fridge mechanism!!). Knew exactly what to do and was really friendly and courteous and my dogs just loved him (they don't like ANY strangers!!). Brian was just a great guy who was EXPERT!! Thank YOU!! A lot of the reviews complain about these plumbers - but ASK FOR BRIAN - he's kind of new - but he is absolutely GREAT!!! They may seem to cost more money than the local sole plumbers - but I called them SPECIFICALLY because NO MATTER WHAT - the local plumbers (four of them) all fixed a problem - only to have it break a week or two later - and we had to PAY to fix it AGAIN - every single time. Ben Franklin Plumbers guarantee their work for two years - and I believe that they RARELY or NEVER have to come back and fix it!!! They are great!

I thought the traveling expense was a little high considering where their shop is located.

They didn’t do a good job because water came out of the toilet and made a mess in the bathroom that they did not clean up. The problem was not fixed and they never got back to me with an estimate to fix the problem. They didn’t seem like they knew what they were doing. They did okay. I ended up having a different plumber come out.

What I liked was that they had all their tools ready to go. They have everything they need to get the job done. I would definitely use them again. It was great. I was very pleased.

Very effective and didn't over charge did a great job getting our faucet replaced outside.

They are very good and professional. They are highly recommended. They provide high quality work. Their price was a little high.

plumber was very prompt (showed up in less than an hour) and professional and explained estimate, very satisfied with those aspects. Although everything was done satisfactorily, we felt that the price was WAY too high, and in BF's defense, the price was tweaked a bit lower after completion of the job because it was completed earlier and easier than originally anticipated. However, the job was fairly simple (more simpler than we originally anticipated) and did not involve any soldering, etc. so the price still seamed high ($311 for three shut off valves). Will probably use this company again, but only in an emergency situation.

He was professional, prompt, and explained the problem. He completed repair of both issues described above very quickly. I felt however that we may have paid extra for the prompt service and convenience, which this company is noted for. Considering that we'd already paid $99 before he walked in the door, the added expense seemed too high. The parts were not expensive, and he completed each job in a matter of minutes. While I do recommend this company, since they were extremely prompt and professional, and repaired the problems, I wish we would've gotten other estimates first.

They were prompt, did a thorough inspection of the house and water usage then provided a reasonable estimate of costs.The plum appeareed on time and did an excellent job of installing the heater. He was polite, professional and thorough. He took his time explaining the system to me and stated that we should call him on his personal cell if we had any problems. He also did a very good job of cleaning up after himself. Their estimate was right on the money and we haven't had any trouble with the system. I would definately use them again for any plumbing problems or projects.

the service guy didnot really know what he was doing. we were charged $400-$500 to unclog a toilet. a service that afterwards i checked and it could have been done for under $100. Tjey tried to get us to join a membership and get discounts in the future. no way! all i asked them to do was unclog a toilet....not plan a vacation on my money.

We bought a big deal in mid-October. We had no problem with it. They were responsive and even though I had just bought a big deal and did not have anything except the email from Angie's List that I bought it, they honored it. They did good work. I like them. They were on time when they said they would be. I think we have used them three different times and we have been satisfied everytime we used them. They were just great.

We called to get an estimate on installing a drain to connect our house to the city sewage, as we got a letter from our borough saying that we have to have this done by October of 2013. Benjamin Franklin set up an appointment with us to come on 12/6 between the hours of 10 and Noon to look things over and give an estimate. Nobody showed up, so I called them at about 12:30. The man answering the phone had no clue why nobody showed up, but promised I'd receive a call back within the next 5 minutes to explain. I received the call and the dispatcher told me that they don't do that kind of work. My obvious immediate thoughts were why I didn't hear about this before, why an appointment was even scheduled, and why I didn't even receive a call when someone didn't show. I lodged a complaint on the corporate web site and received a call back from the franchise owner a couple hours later. He was actually a very nice man and was very apologetic. It was he who dropped the ball. He said that he got busy and forgot to call me. Please note that I give the man a lot of credit for calling me and apologizing. He obviously meant it, but it makes me wonder if he'd have called me at all had I not put a complaint on the main company's web site. While he was a nice guy and I certainly accepted his apology, I can say without a doubt that I won't do business with them in the future. Sure, they apparently don't do sewer lines, but being a homeowner, I'm sure to need a plumber for something else at some point in the future. It just won't be them. In this case, the first impression was a bad one. And first impressions can often be lasting impressions. Oddly enough, their web site touts punctuality as one of the main differentiators of them versus other plumbers. All of that put together has left a really bad impression with us.

The technician made sure I understood how much it would cost before he started the repair. I had purchased a coupon for $99.00 and it cost me an additional $231.00. So the total was $310.00. This seemed to me to be high but I had already spent $99.00 on the coupon. I agreed with the total and the work was completed. I will probably not use this company again due to the cost.

Called Benjamin Franklin Friday a.m. for water heater estimate...salesman showed up Friday afternoon. Water heater installed Saturday a.m. by Ed G (friendly/informative)On time/cleaned up area/got hot water!Will use again!

They were very quick to respond. They were very pleasant and professional. They explained things thoroughly. Their prices were high though. I think I would call them again if I needed to because I feel comfortable with them and trust them.

Great customer service. Received a quick friendly call from Benjamin Plumbing. In less than 24 hours, I had Tim at my house, my toiletunclogged and an outside water pipe (that burst during winter) replaced. Tim was extremely professional, walked me through the work he was going to do, reviewed costs with me prior to starting any service. He proceeded to put his shoe covers on, carry his tools upstairs, and started his work. Extremely clean, from start to finish, and he made sure I was completely satisfied with the service. Can't say how excited I was to actually have a service provider show up on time for the said appointment time! We will definitely use them again! We will also be sure to recommend to our family and friends.
