I purchased the furnace tune up but what it felt like was that I was buying an opportunity for them to sell me a new furnace. EVERY time I have had this service done by other providers, they cleaned out the blower. I discovered while Sila was there that this is an extra service.What they did do is test the combustion, efficiency etc. which were fine and they inspected my heater and they told me they thought they found a crack on my heat exchanger. Another person was sent over later in the day to inspect it and told me it wasn't cracked, but that it might crack in this location. Basically because I had an older furnace, they wanted to replace it. The price of $49 would have been very fair if they performed the service I expected, but I should have called to clarify or the deal could have spelled out what IS included. (I think I normally pay about $129 or so for full service from my normal supplier) Overall I get the impression they are a good supplier but I get skeptical on these deals when they don't offer the service I expect and try to sell you.

From scheduling to perfomring the service, it was excellent. When I called to request the service they scheduled it at the date and time it was convenient for me. At the day of the service they call me prior the appointment to give me an update of the time they expected to be at home. Techinician went over with me on the overall status of the equipment and potential future issues for specific part. Excellent service overall.

Gentlemen came right on time, was very polite and even checked my heater. He said it was very old, which I knew, and should be replaced for more efficient heating. Another gentlemen came out within 20 minutes to give me an estimate on a new heating system. He was very pleasant and thorough. I have decided not to replace it at the present time as it is working just fine. However I would use this company again as I was impressed with their professionalism.

It was a very good visit, and if I had had more funds at the time, I would have gone forward with the compressor replacement.

They've been great - easy to talk to, friendly, responsible. I saved a bunch by having this coverage when I first moved in, as there was much to replace, and they've been great about upkeep and advice on ways to help my system run best. Their service peopel are great - efficient, don't require much of me, but are there to inform and answer my questions. I feel my system is in good hands, and I am comforted to know if anything goes wrong, it's all covered.

Friendly, professional, and punctual technicians ... excellent phone and billing support ... clear and reasonable costs ... all in all, I'm very pleased.

Purchased the Angie's List Big Deal from Sila Heating. They came out and did exactly what they were supposed to do (furnace clean and filter change). Also, I had a thermostat that was giving me trouble and they said I could buy a year-long contract with them and they would subtract the price I paid for the angie's list deal and include fixing/replacing the thermostat. Seemed like a good deal to me. I would definitely use this company again.

As I stated above I purchased a Big Deal from Angies List for maintenance on my gas furnace to make sure I wasn't going to have any problems during the winter months. Sila sent out their tech, Jeff, who was punctual, wore booties on his boots out of consideration for the cleanliness of my floors and did the work I described above in less than an hour. Jeff is a definite asset for Sila HVAC. I wish all technicians were like him.

Overall the service call took less than one hour. The base emergency service charge was $119 and the part + labor was $363. Pricy, but worth it since the problem could only have gotten worse until the igniter failed completely, and the problem was fixed same day. The technician was very professional and efficient, explained what he was doing and responded to all my questions. Overall this was a "A" experience.

Basic maintenance, went well.

I called after my heat went out. I selected the company based on Angie's list reviews and the fact that they offered an Angie's List coupon for a discount on service. The woman on the phone explained the cost for a service call diagnosis and scheduled a service visit that day. I was given a two hour window. The serviceman arrived as scheduled, wore booties in the house and checked the unit and within 45 minutes had fixed the problem. He cleaned a dirty switch and I was only charged the cost for diagnosis since no parts were needed. I was impressed that I wasn't charged anything more than the diagnosis charge and concluded they were honest. I decided to purchace two service contracts on the spot (this wasn't the result of a hard sell). That night the heat went out again. Early the next morning I called and was told that someone would call back to schedule a service call. NO ONE CALLED BACK. I called again that night. NO ANSWER (they claim 24 hour emergency service). As my family spent another night in the cold I wondered if I had made a big mistake by purchacing service contracts from a company who didn't return calls AND didn't have 24 hours emergency service. I also thought twice about renewing my Angie's List membership. How could a company that rated so high not return my call? I also thought about calling the bank and putting a hold on the check. Needless to say I was pretty upset when I called the next morning. The woman who ansered the phone apologized profusely. They arranged to have a technician out that morning. He arrived on time and spent an hour testing the unit and running it on and off. He diagnosed that the part that the previous man had cleaned was intermittantly bad and needed replacing. The dispatcher had a part delivered right to the house (never seen that before), which took about an hour and meant that the serviceman didn't have to leave. The part was installed and everything worked fine. Until that night when the heat went out AGAIN. The next day they came out again and finally diagnosed the problem correctly. They discovered a large wasps nest in the flue that didn't quite block off the air but which eventually would cause the line to become blocked and shut off the unit. It seems that initially the heater would run fine until the condensation from the flue gases soaked the nest and it would swell up and block the flue causing the unit to shut off. After it sat for a while the nest would dry out and shrink, the pipe would open and the unit would work again. The pipe was missing an insect screen and this caused the problem. They removed the nest and replaced the missing screen on the flue pipe and everything worked. Overall my experience was positive since the problem was unusual and they eventually fixed it. Not returning my call and having to spend another night in the cold was really poor service. I am looking into the fact that I couldn't get through one night despite their claims of 24 hour service. I'll see what the year brings since now I'm locked into a year service plan.

We spent $60 for them to come and look at our heater. It was not running correctly. The technician came out and switched a few switches, told us that we needed parts that would take days to come in and so we would be without heat for 3-4 days. That was just to get the thing running. He told us that we needed a new heater, these parts would start it but we may not last the season. We got a second opinion on the heater. Technician came out, we showed him what the Silla tech did and he explained that is was the oldest trick in the book to get someone to buy a new heater. The other tech was at our house for 20 minutes and we had heat. I will never use them again.

The overall experience with this company was great, I also purchased their protection plan that is suppose to cover parts and labor. That is when I'll see if this was really money well spent.

Sila came to my home to prime my heater because after the oil company filled it, it wasn't working. The tech was prompt, friendly, put on booties before trekking through my home and was very very professional. During the repair he offered great information and knowledge that we needed going forward with our oil heating system. Once he had completed the service, we chatted a bit about upgrades and general industry information which was great. He suggested we have the owner come out and do an evaluation for more efficient systems and I took him up on the offer. The only downside of the entire experience was, we were casually chatting (unnecessarily) for about 20-30 minutes and he did not let me know the meter was still on. When he finally handed me the bill, it was about $50.00 more than I expected because we were talking for quite awhile. I mentioned to him that if our chat time was added to my bill, I really didn't agree with it, but he said however long he is there no matter what he is doing it is part of the visit charge. I didn't put up a fuss, but basically I felt my $30.00 coupon was sucked up by "chewing the fat" with him. I told him I would not be shooting the breeze with him on the next visit. Subsequently, his boss came out the next week and did an evaluation regarding changing our system to gas for about an hour. It was fantastic and no fee involved for this visit. He had vast knowledge and suggestions. We will be working with them on upgrading our system in the near future.
