Sila Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical

I had them come out for a HVAC quote. The quote was around 11,000 for a 1 stage 3 ton unit and new furnace with no extras like the humidity thing or a bigger filter. The sales man was very nice and looked at many parts of the house. I told him I got a qoute from another local company that has carrier units instead of Lennox. The other company offered much more nice to haves for just alittle bit more in price. They were not able to add anything else without changing the price and could not come down at all in the price. I went with the other company.

It was an Angie's list Big Deal that I purchased. It went fine. This was my first time using them. I would recommend them to friends and family.

Greg (the technician) was/is extremely professional, neat, clean and respectful. He clearly explained how our A/C is operating and what his maintenance suggestions were and why. Greg showed me the dirty coil prior to performing the acid wash and why we could benefit from the safety switch in the event the drain lines clog. Greg also hosed down the outside unit and explained grass clippings were in there and should be clear for optimal operation. Greg also offered a warranty/maintenance plan that my wife and I are thinking about and will contact Sila if we choose to purchase it. The only negative in all this that I feel I need to mention is the appointment. I called and spoke to Garrett who is professional and knowledgeable but somehow forgot to enter my appointment in the books/calendar. I took vacation time so I could be available to the technician and was a bit annoyed when no one showed for the appointment. Plus side.... I called to check on where the technician was (spoke to Garrett again) and oddly to me was not asked my name but only my address when I called. After confirming that my address was not on the schedule Garrett asked who did you speak to and I said you. Garrett then said Oh and apologized (plugged apology not sure it was sincere) and was able to get a Technician out the same day but destroyed my schedule I had planned for the rest of my vacation day. Unfortunately for Greg (the technician) he did not know how to address us because I was never asked for my name (on the second call) and Greg even referred to my wife and I as "Mr & Mrs" when he needed to ask us a question. This became more clear at the end of the appointment when Greg had to ask for my name because it was not provided. This may be a minor issue for some and it did not impact me at all but from a customer service experience it is a bit lacking when the people who are performing services in your home do not know your name or did not care enough to ask when you contact them. I would definitely use Sila again in the future and if able I would prefer/request Greg as the technician.

I have been using Sila for the past two years as my heating service provider after I purchased a big deal. Great service and very prompt.

They came right out and they were great. It was seven or eight at night, we had an emergency and they responded promptly. The guy was here within an hour, diagnosed the problem and they came back the next day with a part they needed to fix it. It was covered by our maintenance contract and the price was not a lot because it was not a big problem. We are happy with their maintenance. They are very nice, they put on booties when they come into your house and they are clean. They gave a follow up call too, so I would recommend them, they are good. I have no price comparison but it seems reasonable compared to other kinds of repairs.

Very thorough job of inspecting everything and cleaning the heating elements. Would have liked the water line to have been bled, but I guess that was beyond the scope of the boiler check.

Greg showed up on time, was professional and cordial (even to my over friendly dog). The work was done in a timely fashion he took the time to educate me about the unit, and how to care for it in the future.

After several calls of dealing with a nasty service manager, I finally spoke to one of the executives, who promptly refunded my money. For that I am thankful. I found their price structure very high. For a job that local companies told me would cost about $75, they were charging me a much higher price. ,

He was very thorough and honest. He didn't try to sell us anything that we didn't need.

Well, one of the problem was fixed but now it's leaking again but because of a different part and because my system is old. So even though it's still leaking I am quite happy with their service and professionalism. They came out twice to see why it was still leaking and were pleasant about it and very prompt. So I appreciated that. I am going to get a quote with them to see how much it will cost to replace the system. Overall, I would recommend them to my friends and family.

We have a large Queen Anne house in Mt Airy and for decades used window units for air conditioning. We wanted central air, but were concerned about expenses. Finally, in 2009, SILA installed a Mitsubishi wall mounted AC/heat pump (mini-split) in our large "sun porch" which is an uninsulated family room evolved from an enclosed porch. They also installed a traditional through-the-floor vent AC/heat pump system for the first floor of the rest of the house (six rooms and hall). Before doing the rest of the house, we wanted to see how the system worked. As we had the first work done in the winter of 2009, it wasn't until summer 2009 that we knew it passed the test. We then, in winter 2012 had SILA install their high velocity air conditioning throughout the second and third floor rooms. This is now the second summer that we have had the full central systems going and we are very pleased. Hence, this review. We wanted to make sure that central air conditioning in a house like this would really work. It does. Some points: 1) Initial cost. Yes, it's high. About as much as a good car. It's worth it to me. 2) Quality: seems fine. The system is fairly quiet. I actually like the "white noise" soft whoosh in the bedrooms; sounds like the first class cabin on a plane. Downstairs we really have to try to hear it. 3) The Company: One reason the cost is high, I think, is because the SILA company is a good company. We have not needed any service calls other than required by the maintenance plan (also expensive), but when we have needed information, tech support, or other services (they replaced a water heater for us), they are very responsive. 4) Service calls: when they do the routine maintenance schedule every spring and fall, they are right on time. 5) Personnel: the employees seem knowledgable, well-trained and polite. I hope they are well-compensated. 6) Installation: the crew that did the actual installation(s) were amazing. Really hard workers, clean, efficient, wore those surgical shoe covers whenever going through the house. I never saw any dirt anywhere. And they did not let the cat out. I could not have been more pleased. They solved problems that we had not anticipated (like attic beams that went in different directions complicating their task), they custom made some sofits and made them nearly invisible including moving and refitting baseboards, etc. The tips I gave the workers was merely gesture, but I was pleased to do it. 7) Operating cost: We just sold/donated nine window units. The entire new central system runs on less electricity than those did. Of course, the trouble with window units is that you don't run them all at once, thus rooms you use, ones you don't, the hot spaces in between. Very inefficient. Now, we run the central system on multi-setting thermostats all the time, and the electric bill is no larger than before. So in the end, the high price was worth it. I have a really chilly house on the hottest days, I trust the company and the employees, and I know they will service the equipment promptly and correctly, should that need ever arise.

Excellent... Informative, personable technician! I quite enjoyed his visit, and he seemed comfortable with me. When was the last time you could say that? My AC hadn't been touched in 21 years which he was informed of ahead of time. Respectful of the tried and true, myself included! I elected to change the "capacitor" which was additional, but for 21 years old I consider luck was on my side.

Third year in a row SILA provided this service. As usual they were prompt, professional, and courteous. Ky ,the service tech, was very informative and thoroughly explained additional required service. I highly recommend SILA, and will definitely use again.

Two visits. 6/21 and 7/9. On the first visit, John's assessment was that due to a missing Schrader valve cap, our a/c unit was empty of refrigerant. John replaced the cap, filled us up, and we were cold again for a couple of weeks. By 7/9, we were blowing only slightly cold, so Tom, a different technician, found that he needed to replace the entire Schrader valve assembly; we were low on refrigerant and the valve assembly revealed to be the culprit. Since the Schrader was part of the problem both times, the second visit's work was done at no additional charge. Moreover, Tom performed a more lengthy pressure test to doublecheck that the new valve assembly was good and that there weren't other leaks in the system. Although it would have been preferable to have handled the problem during the first visit, I believe it's perfectly reasonable to have missed the bad valve assembly on the first go since the missing cap masked the underlying problem. Great customer service, punctual, and they get it done.

From answering my call to completing the required service, the entire Sila team I dealt with was absolutely professional. Carla answered the phone and transfered me to Jennifer in service. Jennifer asked several questions to understand my problem and transfered me to a technician (I don't recall his name) who provided some interim advice to prepare for the field technician visit - within 3 hours of my call on one of the hottest days so far this summer! Ky arrived in a marked truck and uniform, but still presented his card and credentials, shook my hand and put on shoe covers before entering our home. I'm already impressed, but he reiterated the costs for the service call Jennifer had provided and said he would provide a more specific estimate once the issue was diagnosed. The entire call took approximately 2 hours as I also purchased the Angie's List coupon for seasonal service. The experience was so exceptional, I purchased a 12-month service contract. If the maintenance visits are as good as this service call, we will be long-term clients!

everything went very well. I was a little leery to use this company since my first experience was not completely satisfactory. the first time around they did a great job but the gentleman who came out had a nasty attitude. this time around the service man was very pleasant. they were on time, professional, and pleasant.

perfect i was away traveling they took care of my family with temporary warmers as it was still very cold, and they got everything done in less than 3 days from the time I called. great help with all the rebates, from manufacturer to PECO alsogreat with follow up on a couple of calibration issues
