Sila Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical

On 10/7/14, I met with Brian (Salesman), to have an estimate on replacing two gas furnaces for my duplex. Since he would be doing two units at the same time, he offered me a tremendous estimate. the following day, Mike came out to mesure for the two units. Mike and his crew were back the next day and put in both units in about 7 hours. The crew was professional, and thw job was clean and well done.

My experience with them was great. They came out pretty quick. They guys inside my house took their time. They figured out that the house needed a bigger heating unit than we had. They were up to install it. They were fast and friendly. They knew what they were talking about.

The service person was on time and courteous did the work, etc. But we found that the upstairs unit was not working. When we called back there was too much of a lag in communication ; a lack of responsiveness so, we hired Henderson to look into it. I thought there was such an emphasis on trying to sell us a service plan that it may have superseded the the requirements of the check up. It turned out our thermostat was not working. And the service plans were very expensive.

We bought the package deal but ended up paying more. The issue is that it did not solve the problem so we ended up buying a completely new A/C system.

They were professional and friendly. We had some miss communication on scheduling. They had to come out two different times to get the job done. I thought the price was very high in the end. They also accidentally double billed me so I had to get on the phone with them and straighten it all out.

The repairman were punctual, very pleasant, and made the repair quickly. They are now my heating and cooling go-to people. Having had prior bad experiences with other companies, I will never call anyone else.

It was great. They offered other services but I didn't take them up on that. They were prompt and clear on what was going on.

I had a number of issues with their scheduling. They would call the morning of to cancel. They work outside of the city. They finally came on the 3rd try.

They did a good job tuning up the A/C unit and let me know I needed an entire system change.

They replaced my A/C, furnace and water heater. Everything went well. It is still working great!

About 7 years ago, we used Sila (then Unique Indoor Comfort) to install our air conditioning system in our 80+ year old home and were extremely pleased with their work. When we decided to replace our heating system, we originally thought we would use our oil company to review our needs and install our new system since they were the "experts" in oil systems. However, when we brought out the sales rep we were less than impressed with his recommendations to improve efficiency. They simply looked to replace what we had with a newer model boiler. So, we looked to get a second opinion and sought out Sila's expertise. From the very moment the sales rep entered our home, we knew were in good hands. Ralph Frey was great! He spent more than an hour with us reviewing all of the different options available to us and showed us how best to improve efficiency and save money long-term. He was great! Originally, our plan was to listen to what he had to say and then take a few days to think it over before making any definite decisions, but we ended up deciding that same evening because we knew Sila was the right team for this job. Within a day, a foreman was out to inspect our system and in less than a week our system was installed. The install team and foreman (Dan Duffy) were truly top-notch! They arrived on time and immediately went to work dismantling our old system. The entire time they were in our home, they were careful not to disrupt anything and took extra precautions to keep things clean and neat. When they completed the work (close to 10 hours later), Dan reviewed EVERYTHING with us. He made sure that we understood everything and took the time to answer ALL of our questions (despite the fact that it was after 6:00 pm on the Friday before a holiday weekend). The work that he and his team did is nothing short of a "work of art." After the job was completed, our basement was cleaner than before they arrived. This company is the best of the best and worth every penny! We are Sila customers for life! Thank you!

As I said, Greg arrived on time, put covers over his shoes, diagnosed the problem quickly and fixed it within half an hour. He was very professional and discussed options with me. I am very pleased and would definitely call them again. You have a great employee who reflects well on your company.

In mid of July, one of A/c unit stopped working and we started reviewing Angies list for a reliable company for servicing our A/C unit. We went through the reviews and then bought a service coupon for A/C tune up from Sila. We scheduled the appointment and the service technician arrived as promised. He seemed to be polite and professional. The Service Tech reviewed our A/C unit, tuned up one of the A/C unit, mentioned to us that everything is in good shape and we just needed 2Lbs of refrigerant. Since, we had nice experience, we also requested service technician to replace transformer for my other A/C unit and got it replaced. Within couple of weeks, we started observing reduction in our A/C performance, observed condensation all over the place of tuned up A/C unit and finally it stopped working. We called the company and scheduled an another appointment. An another service technician came to our house and checked the system. He mentioned that the is no refrigerant left in the A/C unit and told us that probably there is a considerable leakage in our A/C unit, without any tests. He mentioned that the diagnostics cost will be around $600. This test may or may not determine the leakage. The service personnel even refused to fill the refrigerant.He mentioned to us that this should have been determined in the first visit itself. We again called the customer service questioning the first service person observation during his initial visit and scheduled an an appointment for senior technician. He arrived as promised and even he determined that there is considerable leakage without any tests. He also mentioned that it would cost us around $600 for leakage test. The only suggestion was given to us was to replace the A/C unit. Within 10 minutes, their sales team started calling us about scheduling a visit and providing the quote for replacement A/C unit. We hired an another company to get a second opinion, their service technician came over and reviewed our A/C system. I mentioned to him about my previous service experience and determination of leakage. He filled the refrigerant and conducted a leakage test at no cost to us, then determined that there is no leakage. He even simulated the condition to prove the testing equipment's capability of detecting leakage. He later on mentioned to us that most likely the earlier technician might have not tightened the valve or might have filled improperly, which may cause the refrigerant to leak. It is almost three weeks and my A/C system is working perfectly. We have been given 60 days time and assured us that if any leakage happens, they will conduct additional leakage tests at no cost to us. Sila technicians are very polite, but unfortunately, they tend to put their company's interest of making money before the customer interest. I would definitely not recommend this company to my friends.

The service went well. The technician was very prompt and clean. He did a great job and we were very satisfied with the work done. He completed the service in under 2 hours and I had no problem scheduling the deal.

After a lengthy search we retained Sila to remove our old oil furnace and hot water system and install a new Buderus Boiler and indirect hot water heater. Fortunately, Angie?s List provided a wealth of reviews to assist our due diligence. We were impressed with Sila?s professional appearance and care for our property. From the beginning, they donned booties to cover their work shoes whenever they entered our home and used numerous tarps to protect the interior. Despite the scope of the installation, the technicians took care to minimize the disruption and intrusion into our home. Throughout the multi-day project, the technicians left the premises clean by time they departed each day. We appreciate the manner in which we were treated by Sila. They listened to our needs and designed a system to address all of our concerns. During the installation, when we had questions, they took the time to explain what was being done and why. They made sure we were satisfied at each step and did not pressure us to accept anything that we did not fully understand. From the technical side, Sila was able to correct several plumbing problems and integrate the new boiler with the existing mixed baseboard and radiator system throughout the house. The new system provides increased heat to all areas of the house and had the side benefit of increasing our water pressure to the bathrooms and kitchen. The mark of a true craftsman is the care and pride he takes in the small details. The Sila team took their time in laying out and dry-fitting the pipes, manifolds and pumps not only to ensure that the parts functioned but also so the final product was a work of art. At the end of the installation, our new boiler looks like it could be a display model. We find ourselves showing house guests and visitors our new heating system just to show off how good it looks. Another indication of the quality and substance Sila brings to the job is how well the representatives work together. Our team consisted of Dan, Paul and Joe. They functioned as a well-oiled machine. Each knowing just what needs to be done. They worked quietly and efficiently. The more experienced technician demonstrating techniques and tips to the newer ones. The foreman used each opportunity to pass on knowledge and inculcate company philosophy throughout the job. To a customer, this shows a long term vision for a company and gave us comfort that our long term investment will be well-supported into the future. In summary, we are thrilled with our new heating and hot water system. We would recommend Sila to our family and friends without reservation. We received tremendous value for the price we paid. We also look forward to working with them on the installation of a new air conditioning system next year.

The service went okay, and the tech was polite. He was at the home for a couple of hours. He replaced a part on our A/C. This year, we had a different company out who discovered a cap had been left off and coolant had leaked out.

This company will gouge you if you allow them. The thing that they came out for they did well. The guy was very good and did a nice job on the A/C tuneup, but he said that he tested everything and that he noticed that the capacitor was going to go bad and that I should replace it because it was going to break. I agreed, and he told me it would be $295. He opened the door and took the capacitor out, and it was a tiny little thing. I looked at it and asked if that was the right price for that little piece, and he said that was the price for it. I looked up the piece online, and found that the piece only cost $8. I asked about it, and he said that it was the company price for it. So I called the company and asked the manager about it, and he said that the price included a service call. I told him that the service call should have been included in the deal I bought because thats what he came out for. Then he said that it was a labor cost, and I said that I had watched him do the replacement, and it only took 5 minutes. He said that that was the price, and I could get the old capacitor back if I wanted it, so I took it. I told him that I was going to write a review for him on Angie's List about this, and he told me that if I did that, I would not be a welcome customer with them again. The capacitor part number was 27L570 if you want to look it up!

It went very well. They sent out a team and it took them 1-2 days. They installed a new HVAC unit and did some ductwork. They also drilled new venting through my basement wall. I’ve used their service for a while and they are good.

This is a disappointing review to write.SILA has been my a/c servicing company for the past 4 years On 5/14/14, I had SILA perform their annual pre-season a/c tune-up. Casey, the service tech, recommended an upgraded filtration system based on my needs. After speaking to SILA technical staff, installation was scheduled for 6/14/14. When the scheduled installation time window was closing, I called SILA and was told they could not install until measurements were taken. I was told the job had "fallen through the cracks" but they would send a technician ,who was working nearby, within a couple hours to take measurements.This task took less than 15 minutes Why no one had ever mentioned measurements was particularly upsetting since SILA trucks had been on my street in the weeks prior to scheduled installation and a tech could have spent 15 minutes to measure. Nam, the tech who did the measurements, was professional and polite. He said he would be doing the installation probably within a week.I called SILA on 7/11/14-----not having heard from anyone for over 5 weeks.I received another apology and was told they could do the job the following week.I cancelled the work fearing I could fall through the cracks again!!Maybe they got too big too fast,maybe they need a scheduling overhaul-----but they appear to have lost the ingredients that made them stand-out i.e. customer service focus and strong communication/reliability.

Went well. I was going to sign up for service contract with them but the company would exclude coolant refill because i have an older system. I did not want a contract for the same price without coolant refilling. Sila contacted me later offering to include coolant refilling if i get contracts for both the ac and the heater. Would consider for the future services.

I contacted Sila after my tenants in my condo in downtown Philly contacted me to let me know that the PTAC AC unit in the master bedroom died. It has been incredibly difficult to find a decent company with the expertise to work on PTAC units. Historically, I've used two other companies (that shall remain nameless) and was horrified at the absence of service, lack of knowledge and obscene pricing. I also contacted three other heating and air companies on Angie's List who indicated that they didn't service PTAC units. Thank goodness for Sila. I contacted the representative who was extremely helpful. Set up with the company was a breeze. The technician, Greg, showed up on the early end of the 2 hour window that was provided to me. Greg was knowledgeable, professional, and personable. I can't say enough about the service he provided. He took the care to resolve the problem with the unit and although he was busy, took the time to explain the issue and perform the job correctly. I've since referred all the other owners in my condo to Sila since we've collectively had a nightmare of a time identifying a competent, reasonably priced, and responsive company. I can't say enough about this company!

I know there are many options when choosing an HVAC company, and my family and friends have tried them all. Sila, by far, is the best, IF you are willing to pay a bit extra. Their customer service is incredible--you call, they answer, they act very quickly, often same-day if required. They are punctual, the technicians are always experts and very friendly (and respectful of the floors in your house by wearing booties), and the work done is excellent. I use them for servicing of my 3 HVAC systems twice a year. They also installed an entirely new furnace/AC system a couple of years ago. The system is a doing great and my energy bills are lower because I went with a high SEER compressor and a dual-stage system. But their prices are high. Don't use them for a generator because they subcontract it and so the price is 50% higher than an electrician. But for HVAC maintenance and new systems, the premium price is worth it. This is a great company.
