Sila Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical

I was really disappointed by the salesman's approach. I've had them inspect my system annually 3 times now. The first 2 times they tried to upsell one of their warranty packages. This time they were really pushy in trying to get me to replace my HVAC completely. They were pushing me to make a commitment right then and there. I had to say several times that I would have to discuss with my spouse but still he pushed. Common sense would tell you that the decision to replace an HVAC (especially one that is working just fine) requires several family meetings and a re-prioritization of the budget, but the salesman was relentless. When I asked him to put all of what he was offering in writing, he hesitated and said, I'll have to get back to you. Seemed very shady. I will not be using them again. Warning, if 2 people come to your home it means that one of them is the technician and the other one is the salesman, trying to sell you a new unit. or some other upgrade that you may not need.

I recently experienced two serious issues with Sila. (1) They offered me 12-month interest free financing but never told me this was actually a CREDIT CARD with Wells Fargo- not before or after taking my personal information and them calling Wells Fargo to get me approved for what they kept referring to simply as 12 month interest free financing (there was a single reference to a Credit Card Agreement - a copy of which I was not provided - in an invoice they had me sign the day of the install, which I later discovered after receiving a Wells Fargo credit card in the mail). I thought I was applying for $5600 in financing and instead I learned that I was being provided with an $8800 line of credit from Wells Fargo. When I wrote the salesman, Chris Drew, to tell him that this felt deceptive given the several discussions we had about the "financing" without him ever disclosing that he applied for a credit card on my behalf I received the following response: "Justin, I apologize if anything was unclear throughout the process. Yes, their financing program is considered a revolving line of credit (sic) Wells Fargo typically sends the card if you wanted to use it for any other purposes on the line of credit you were approved for. You do not have to use it and many of my customers just discard it. All the payments can be processed via their website." Does Sila really think that just throwing a credit card in the garbage is the answer? Are customers supposed to just throw out the cards every couple of years when Wells Fargo issues new cards? Is Sila going to monitor the credit card account for me to make sure there isn't any fraud? I think not. Also, what about the minimum monthly payments that presumably I will have to make now that I know this is a credit card - these are facts that Sila should not hide from its customers. The salesman's manager, Adam Kroungold, called me to "clarify my concerns," as he put it. What that meant was that he was not going to start off by apologizing for his company's deceptive sales tactics but rather point out the reference to the Credit Card Agreement buried in the invoice. And he was incredibly rude to boot! This is NOT the type of company I will want to do business with in the future. (2) Sila sold me on buying a one-year service plan for nearly $1000 only to shortly thereafter tell me that I need to replace my boiler. They also told my wife that our boiler was over 30 years old when, in reality, it is not even 20 years old according to the manufacturing date. Doesn't that feel great if you're a consumer - "hey, we offer a great service plan which you should buy" followed shortly thereafter by "actually, you should just buy a new boiler." Great customer service, Sila.

install went very and was completed with stated time frames.

I am very happy with the work that SILA did. SILA obtained the permit required for my work quickly, and they were able to work their schedule around the other jobs that are being done on my home. The work was completed in one day, which surprised me since it was a pretty involved project. However it turned out that I needed them to come back and move some of the duct work they installed on my ceiling - not a fault of SILA's in any way - but they came back and did what I needed and did not charge anything for it. I am very impressed with the whole process and would be happy to hire SILA in the future.

they made everything so easy and every person I spoke with was respectful, pleasant and helpful. they are a rare breed and I will hire them in the future without reservation.

It was good. They replaced the filter in the units which was just the cost of the piece itself.

It started with Sean, a very informed technician who came and assessed our problem at our newly purchased house. Ralph then came who was the salesman, he went over all the options with us and was very personal. We never felt like he was trying to oversell us or just make money off of us. We was able to help us get the most for what we were willing to spend. Being the coldest time of the year we needed the work done quickly, Ralph was able to get the work done the next day. The men who came and did the work were completely respectful. They made sure to not track anything in the house, updated with the ducting was to make the heater more efficient and did an amazing job on the entire unit. I would recommend Sila to anyone having heating/air problems or looking for a new one.

It went well. It was a custom job. They produced an estimate and then discounted the quotation. The service was very good. They're very good.

Excellent! Steven Jordan and the installation crew are pros!!! This is the second major project they have done on our home and every time things have gone beautifully. The crew worked with me on the placement of the vents in each every room. I did not want vents over any beds and in certain rooms and hallways, I felt additional vents would be needed to cool the rooms to my liking. Never did they dispute my wants or preferences with me. They did what I wanted and made sure we were thrilled. The worked with me to determine the best place for the compressor as I didn't want it to interfere with the flower beds around the house. What more could I ask for. After the unit was installed, the larger compressor made too much noise into our family room. Steven ordered a "scarf/ muffler" to silence/ dull the noise from the unit. That is what I call customer service!!! When it comes to heating/cooling, our only call is Sila!

Prompt, courteous, knowledgeable. Always on time. Absolutely on budget. Not the cheapest, but feeling like we got great value.

It went pretty well. They checked the AC unit and recommended some work for some PVC pipe on the unit.

The recent installation of a whole house humidifier was one of several services we have scheduled with this company since moving to our current Philadelphia location 2 years ago. Although I have never felt compelled to write a company review, the level of customer service we have received each time by SILA warrants recognition. Although this is probably not the least expensive HVAC service provider, you can rely on the highest level of responsiveness and accountability from everyone you deal with and be certain that your problem will be resolved.

After hearing an unusual whining coming from our ten year old Ruud Achiever 90 Plus furnace, I called Sila to schedule a visit to assess the problem. I asked for an appointment on a day that was more convenient for my schedule and their scheduler gladly accommodated my needs. Their technician, Dan, arrived on a Thursday afternoon and instantly knew what the furnace problem was once he heard it. The motor was quickly going bad and was near complete failure. In fact, while we both listened to the motor, the noise became even louder and he advised that the furnace immediately be shut off to avoid risk of any significant damage. With great detail and clarification to lay terms when needed, Dan explained precisely what was taking place inside the furnace blower assembly and the specific reasons for the required fix. None of what he explained seemed unspecific or unnecessary. This gave me the utmost confidence in what I needed done. With an arctic blast entering the region, the need for an immediate fix was paramount and Dan promptly checked the local suppliers for the required parts. Unfortunately, the specific motor he preferred to use would have to be overnighted which was disappointing but when he explained that he was looking to install the specific Ruud compatible motor instead of a generic/universal motor, I was OK with his decision and impressed that he wanted to get the best long-term fix he could for the furnace. "Universal" and "generic" are terms you really don't want to hear when concerning motors for major household equipment. The next day, I was given a two hour window for Dan to arrive for the repair work which was fair given the busyness they were likely experiencing due to the weather. He arrived at the earliest end of the window and immediately went to work. Once he began, he talked me through his repair process as he went along and identified & described the problem/damaged parts as he removed them. Within the time he approximated, Dan had removed the capacitor, old motor & blower wheel, installed and tested the new ones, examined the other working components of the furnace for problems and completed his work with a spotless work area and updated service documentation on the furnace. Additionally, after a quick notice of the water heater, he gladly offered some very good advice that could likely save us a significant amount of money down the road. I was very impressed with his friendly manner and willingness to efficiently and effectively met our needs. Just great work done by him on all fronts. Furnace repair can be costly and considering we made it ten years with no major expense except for periodic maintenance and avoided what could have been significantly more costly, I feel ok that the repair was done at a slightly less-than-great rate but very fortunate that it was done as quickly and with such exceptional quality as it was by Sila. Overall, great service from Sila Heating & Air Conditioning.

SILA continues to show us that they are the company we should always turn to. They are professional and demonstrate great customer service skills. Their phone reps (I've spoken to Sean and Anthony) are polite and friendly. We will definitely be returning customers.

I had a faulty gas valve in my heating system which was not allowing the system to work. Since I was getting married the next weekend and because it was getting very cold, I needed immediate action in replacing the valve. I had Sila come over on a saturday and told them I knew EXACTLY what the problem would be because I had another heating service take a look the day prior and the service sourced the problem but didnt have the valve available on hand. I decided to call Sila. Unfortunately, since I had a tight schedule and because it was very very cold that week, I needed someone to come as soon as possible which turned out to be Saturday. The serviceman came about 1.5 hours later than I had scheduled but he was a nice guy. I told him the EXACT issue with the heater and he said the valve would need to be replaced for a total cost of over $800. I told the serviceman that the gas valve online cost $125 and the job would take about 30 mins. When he heard that, he said "yea just do the job yourself, you dont need me then". I sighed and just told him to do the job. I understand that Sila charges more on weekends, but I feel like the company has raised service prices to the extent that it is not pleasurable working with the company anymore. Yea, they did the job, but I feel extorted..

This is an aggressive chop shop dealer. I would not recommend them. I do think their product would have been fine and well done, but if dont want aggressive sales tactics, do not call them. Our estimator find a thorough job on the assessment but never checked the size of our current system until I asked him to. Then after giving us a price, he told us we should sign tonight. I said I would consider it. After lowering his price marginally, he told me that I wasn't serious about my heat and if I wasnt prepared to sign on the spot, I never should have called Sila. And then he stormed out of my house. The he had the gall to call two days later and ask if I still wanted to use them, when he hadn't even written a formal quote. AVOID SILA

I purchased a deal with them, and everything turned out very well. They were very tidy and on time, and will call you even if they are running 5 minutes late.

It went terrible. I feel like I was treated like I had the nerve to question their quote and ask for my money back. Messages were left and not returned. CS person said I hung up on him. Can't believe they are in business. Very upset.

the tech that came out was nice and knowledgeable. overall, though, the service was expensive. the coolant was not guaranteed, part of the fine print

Around the end of September or so, we had a minor gas leak in my house. PGW came out and turned off the gas for safety reasons. I contacted two other heating companies and they came out and gave me a quote. I checked AL and saw the high rating for SILA and contacted them as well. The sales man (i forget his name at the moment) came to my house and the exact time we were scheduled to meet and sat me down and walked me through everything. More importantly, he allowed me to choose the furnace that I wanted. We went back and forth about pricing, warranty etc etc and I was able to negotiate a price I thought was reasonable. Fast forward two days, and just as the sales rep stated, a foreman contacted me to come out to the property and take all the necessary measurements prior to the techs coming. I work and I am on a very tight schedule; however, SILA arranged to have the foreman come out at 7am. And he was not a minute late. Day of installation: By this point SILA had already exhibited their punctuality and professionalism to me. Thus, I had high expectations. We were scheduled to start the install at 8am, and ofcourse, they showed up right on time. They had 3 individuals working in various capacities to take out the old furnace and install the new one. They informed me that it would take between 8am-2pm to complete the work. And they were absolutely precises. However, and more importantly, while the techs were working, I was upstairs in my office doing other work. Not once did they disturb me or affect my work. They did little things which I have yet to see with any other company: wipe shoes before entering, moved furnature and placed drop clothes everywhere so that the hardwood floor would not scratch, repluged small random appliances that they needed to move etc. These items don't necessarily have anything to do with the actual work--but it showcased their attention to detail and absolute professionalism. At the end of their day, they walked me through every bit and piece of the new furnace, they made marks as to where the filter should go and facing which direction. They walked me through the new digital thermostat that they installed along with the furnace. Follow up appointment: Two weeks after install, I received a call from SILA seeking to schedule a follow up appointment with me so that another tech can come and check out how the furnace is operating and whether any corrects need to be made. Again, I could only meet at 7am and ofcourse, they obliged and the quality control rep showed up right on time. His check up took about a half hour or so and all was well. The unit is working fine and I am satisfied. Admitedly, SILA may be a bit pricier than most. However, they are ABSOLUTELY 100% professional, courteous, and do fantastic work. I will be using them for my rental properties in the future.

Rich and Gregg showed up at the scheduled time. Both of them were extremely polite and friendly. They quickly identified the problem, picked up the parts and performed the repair and cleaning. Both heaters are back up and running. I thought the price of the repair was on the high side($180 for routine maintenace - $595 for the repair+ visit) but to be fair it was an "emergency" visit in their peak season.

The services took place in 2013 but I don't remember the dates.I would not use them again. I used Carney heating and plumbiing when it came time to replace the whole system.

Heating/cooling unit flooded my basement. Sila performed a cleaning and regular maintenance of the unit, detected the issue which was that a service company the prior owners of the house used forgot to put a cap back on the fridgerant! The sila technician was professional, kept me informed, and was not trying to cram additional services down my throat. The company followed up several weeks later as the seasons changed to see how everything was going. I would definitely recommend Sila! Services performed included: yearly maintenance, testing unit to determine where the issue was, and refilling fridgerant.
