Sila Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical

From the start we had a great experience with Sila. We were getting estimates from several other companies and even though Sila was slightly higher, Chris was very knowledgeable and we felt most comfortable that Sila would deliver as promised in their proposal. The crew that performed the install were extremely professional and courteous. They arrived on time each day and were very careful to keep the install neat and clean. If it weren't for seeing the vents in the ceilings, we would have never known that an entire work crew had been in our house all day. Overall we had a wonderful experience. The install was finished in 4 days and we are thrilled to be enjoying our new central air with no problems to report.

They were honest and were quick to respond to my request for service. They were professional and cleaned up well.

The technician should have installed the tiger loop while the indirect water tank was draining. It took the tank about an hour for it to drain, which he could have used that time to install the tiger loop. Since the technician completed the tasks one after another, I didn't get as much value for the price. He came reasonably prepared for the water tank service but he had to borrow my hose and he didn't bring a wet vac to clean out the tank and instead flushed it into my hot water system, which isn't good for my systems valves. If considering a support maintenance contract with Sila, be sure to get them to commit to what it would cost you given the number of zones you have in your system. More than one zone may cause the price to increase over their stated maintenance fees. You don't want to be surprised.

My heat pump was not cooling my house at all when the temperature started getting warmer. I think it stopped working last winter: backup heat would have kept the house warm, so I wouldn't have noticed temperature-wise, but the electric bills were unusually high. In January, I had called the company that originally installed the heat pump (not Sila) because of the high electric bills, but they denied that there was anything wrong. They said that it was just "really cold" that winter. (Sila's men scoffed at this when I mentioned it) When the unit was failing to cool at all as the temperatures got warmer this spring, I looked for someone else, and found Sila here on Angie's List. I called them on a Thursday, and I was unavailable on Friday, but they were able to schedule me for Saturday afternoon, giving me a 1PM-4PM window. They called me on Saturday morning to let me know that they had a cancellation and would be able to come earlier, but I wasn't available in the morning. They showed up at almost exactly 1PM. They identified themselves clearly and wore identifying shirts. They were polite, clean, and put on footies to protect my carpet. They quickly found that the problem was a lack of refrigerant -- I'm sure that problem was there when the other guys denied anything was wrong. They told me how much it would cost to refill it completely, but they thought there might be a leak (though they couldn't find it). They recommended that I only fill it halfway, which would be sufficient to make it run, but would be less to lose if the thing was leaking. I have no idea what I should expect to pay for refrigerant, but what they charged me was less than the increase in my electric bill over the previous three months in the winter, so I wasn't complaining. They also recommended an annual service contract, which I was thinking about before they mentioned it, so I signed up for that (the price above includes both the refrigerant and the contract). The unit has been working fine since they left, though the weather has been so mild lately that I haven't had much need to use it.

I used them as part of the Big Deal. I was pleased with them.

We contracted with Sila Heating and Air through the Costco for a new HVAC system to be installed in our home. They provided a highly competitive estimate, one of the lowest we received, for a Lennox HVAC system. The only hitch in the process was when the technician arrived to begin the installation he did not have the building permit , which is required in our township, so I had to insist that they go get the permit before they could begin work. The salesman who sold us the contract agreed to do this and took care of it right away. The technicians who installed the new system were very pleasant, prefessional and thorough. They covered all the pathways and didn't track any dirt or debris around. The primary technician, Jim, also answered any questions we had about our new system. They removed all of our old equipment and also took away an old, broken, de-humidifyer for us. Although we haven't needed the AC yet, the heat has run a few times and it is so quiet we don't even know it's on. A huge improvement from our old furnace and blower which was very noisy.

It was an excellent. They were very knowledgable and very willing to help.

They were very prompt. They sent me a coupon after the work was done. The person who came to work was very friendly and knowledgeable. We are planning on calling them to install our air conditioning.

My central air conditioner failed. They responded quickly and repaired the unit, although they felt it would probably need replacement. The unit did fail again, on the fourth of July during blistering heat. A repairman was here within 45 minutes. The unit was replaced almost flawlessly within a few days.

They were professional from begining to end. There were no hidden fees incoprerated in the price after installation. The staff explained in general terms for me and my mother to understand the installation process and offered tips on maintaining the units. They used bootties on their shoes while walking in my house. I would highley recommend this company to anyone. I will be using this company in the future

Service tech shut down existing furance, called for a sales rep all around mid morning. By 2:pm a sales rep showed me options and prices with a time line for insatllation. By next day all parts and materials were delivered to my home. Also provided two electrical space heaters. All areas of my home were protected by tarps during the delivery and removal. Two techs show to do the work and the sales rep showed up to make sure all went well. The finish job has the detailed appearance of quality work.

I called them and they came and gave me a quote. I haven't really done anything with them. I'm doing a very large project so I have a lot of moving parts. The technician that came out to do the quote was fine. The customer service was pretty reasonable. I would not consider using them because based on the other quotes I will probably go a different direction.

Our heat pump which was not all that old, had an expensive problem. Our backup furnace was over 30 years old, so we decided to replace them both. We got three sales reps in. Sila's quote was similar to Wesley Wood's, but included realignment of badly designed ducts and insulation of those new ducts. ServiceMark never gave us a price. The work was done as promised, on time, full cleanup and with excellent results. Our heating system is much better than before, the house temperature is now comfortable, and the basement is no longer hot! Good follow-up, and response to our one question after installation involving some vibration noise which was corrected.

The workman were very respectful of my time and arrived early every morning to start the job. I couldn't find a compliant if I looked for it. Money well spent.

In January, I called the same heating company that serviced my 2006 Kenmore heat pump back in 2008. Seems my heat pump was mal-functioning for over a month and Peco's emergency electric service had been in use all that time. After two service calls, at $88.00 an hour, they said they had to order an expensive part - a high-pressure switch. I was still on Peco's Emergency electric service heating! After a week of waiting for the technician to come back WITH THE PART, I called the heating company again. They had not even ordered the part! I fired them, checked out Angie's List and a technician (Tom) came out right away and fixed the problem. I signed a (quite reasonable $) maintenance contract, so there was no charge for the service call. THE FOLLOWING DAY I LEARNED THAT "UNIQUE" HAD RECENTLY INSTALLED MY SON'S HEAT PUMP. HE SAID THAT HE WAS SO PLEASED THAT HE HAD SIGNED UP FOR A MAINTENANCE CONTRACT. SMALL WORLD! Prompt . Performed the routine maintenance of our equipment , and let us know any issues, and potential issues. I am considering hiring them for the yearly maintenance program. Well done in my opinion.

We spent about $16000 on the installation of that unit. It was a unique style and the duct work and vents are nicely hidden. We also pay a yearly maintenance fee.

We like them a lot. If we have problems they?ll come and service our system. We plan on continuing to use them in the future.

The reasons I received for a higher cost is because the cost of doing business in the city of Philadelphia is higher (Preposterous) and it was a side mount blower motor (which did not affect the other quotes I received).

I ordered this service through an Angie's List coupon since I needed this service and the price seemed good. My expectations were exceeded. The service provider arrived on time and was very professional and thorough. He diagnosed why the back part of my house was not being heated and fixed the problem (which was misdiagnosed by a previous service provider I consulted) at no extra charge. I was so happy with the value of this service and the price of their annual service plan that I asked to sign up for this service, and to my pleasant surprise, learned that their plan covers much more than PGW even though it is not much more, and the price I paid for this maintencance check would be applied to the annual service plan, so I felt I really got my money's worth. I was so happy about having the heating problem fixed that I called the company to praise the person they sent and decided to write this report, which I've never done before. I highly recommend them.

I had to stay home from work because PECO had to do something in my house. I called Unigue Indoor Comfort to schedule the appointment and they said they could come that very day which would work very well for me, I would not have to take another day off. When the technician got there, the gas had just been turned off so he could not do the work. He said to call back and make another appointment. When PECO was done I called back and the technician came back, even though he was some distance away on another job! He really went the extra mile to help me get this done. I was not charged for the earlier cancellation or any travel charges. I did purchase a 1-year maintenance plan for my heater which he applied the Big Deal charge to. He was very nice and I highly recommend this company.

When the blower in our heat/ac went out in a hot summer Saturday I called 4 HVAC service companies, Unique Indoor Comfort was the first to call back. They were able to get someone there the same day (before 2 of the others called back), and the technician confirmed that the blower motor was burned out. They were unable to get the part that weekend, but were there first thing Monday morning and got the job done. They were very professional through all of this, both the technician on site and the manager that I spoke to on the phone.

Our old furnace was not working properly during the first cold snap of the season. We found out that it was very costly just to replace the part needed to keep it going. So we decided to replace the whole heating and cooling system since they are both very old and not very efficient. We called several HVAC companies for estimates and Unique Indoor Comfort sent Paul Bistline the same day I called. He was very thorough looking over the existing units and explained the type of furnace and A/C he recommends for us and how the new system will work. He also mentioned the $1500 Federal energy tax credit plus the $300 PECO smart home rebate. The same afternoon several hours later he emailed me a 3 page work proposal! We were so impressed that even though we had only one other estimate we decided to go with this company. Of course we really couldn't wait to get the new system installed but we felt confident with our decision because of the excellent rating of this company on Angies List. The work was scheduled the following Friday. They delivered the equipment and parts the day before the scheduled installation. They arrived on time and worked the entire day through the early evening so that the heater could be up and running. There were some hiccups due to unforeseen difficulties in placing the A/C cooling pipes through the basement ceiling. But the A/C work team leader Tran took the time to explain and worked through a couple of alternative solutions with me until we decided on the best one to our mutual satisfaction. The work crew came back the next day, Saturday, to finish the A/C installation. They were diligent and efficient. Everything was done to our satisfaction. We highly recommend them to anyone needing HVAC service.

Mike Gill from Unique Indoor Comfort came to my house to give me a free estimate. Unlike the other companies that I had provide me with estimates for the work, Mike took the time to do the calculations to correctly size the units rather than just basing it on the size of the old units. Mike also helped me determine what option would be most economical based on the amount of time I planned to stay in the house. This is far beyond what other companies that provided estimates did. The quote provided by Unique Indoor Comfort was actually the lowest of all the quotes I received. Once the contract was signed, the work was completed quickly and on time. The only area that I felt could be improved was in them getting the paperwork back to me in a more timely manner to submit for the state's rebate program. Overall, I was very satisfied with the quality of the work and the experience of working with Unique Indoor Comfort .
