Sila Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical

I purchased the Big Deal on Angie's List ($79 for Furnace Clean and Check) on Nov. 1, and scheduled the appointment soon after. The appointment was scheduled for 10:00AM the morning of Nov. 14th. Around 10:50AM of the day of the appointment, I received a call from the company telling me that the technician, Saki, would arrive within a half-hour. Saki arrived and got to work immediately, checking my thermostat and then went to work on my furnace. I left him to his own devices, so as not to get in the way. He came up a few times to turn the unit on and off via the thermostat, and to replace an air filter. He was done within about 35-40 minutes. Saki was very friendly and professional, and I am confident that my heater is in working condition for the upcoming winter, as Sila has only done good work for me in the past.

I took advantage of the Big Deal offer for a furnace inspection and cleaning. The technician, Frank, arrived on time and was very courteous and professional. The service included replacing the furnace filter--I had just replaced the filter a few weeks ago and it was still in perfectly good shape, so instead Frank left me a new filter that I could use to replace when necessary. I will definitely use Sila again.

I contacted Sila through their contact form on angie's list and received a series of follow-up emails the very next day. After providing some additional details I was given contact details for the dispatcher so that I could schedule an appointment. We agreed on a general maintenance window, and the dispatcher told me that he'd call me a little before the tech arrived so that I didn't have to miss work just to wait around. The following day I received a call informing me that the tech was on his way, and I found him waiting patiently at my home when I arrived. After examining the issue he offered to fix it on the spot, which I happily agreed to. The tech was very knowledgeable, quick, clean and thorough. It was a small problem and my experience was painless. I would definitely recommend Sila to a family member or a friend. Overall, this is what I liked: They were able to effectively communicate with me via email up until scheduling. When I finally called to make my appointment the dispatcher was already familiar with my case (based on my email communications with a different representative). Though we scheduled an appointment window, I received a curtesy call in advance of the technician's arrival so I didn't waste any time waiting around. The tech was very nice and was prepared to fix my small problem on the spot.

Whole installation went very well and we will be using them for maintenance. SILA team including installers were very polite, answered any questions, and always asked permission to go anywhere in house as needed. Team even made an accommodation to raise both furnace and water heater up a few inches in case of flooding which we thought necessary.

We selected Sila through The Big Deal offer. We called minutes after purchasing the offer and they quickly scheduled a visit the same day. They called several times to provide me with confirmation of the appointment. They also agreed to coordinate the visit with our schedule. They fix the problem with the furnace and did not charge extra over The Big Deal price.

They did a great job and their quotes were competitive (I obtained 3 quotes). They were immediately responsive to my request for a quote and met the timelines we set up for the initial install and addition of ductwork. They worked with me to refine the install and ductwork because this was an old house which had challenges with second floor airflow. They kept to their original quote and came back and "tweaked" quickly as needed. Their salesman (Adam Kroungold) was knowledgeable and responsive. Installers were courteous and respectful of my home. I would definitely recommend them.

Great job. I had to leave the gentleman here because I had another commitment, but I felt perfectly comfortable doing so because they had such good reviews from Angie's List and this is the second time I used them. I usd them in the spring for air conditioning service.

They were very efficient & genial to work with - no problems.

They were prompt, efficient and were on time. Basically they did a great job. They explained every thing very well and even cleaned up after themselves.

We had eight companies come to our home to give estimates and Sila was the company we ultimately chose. We are extremely pleased with everything and feel they completely lived up to the positive ratings on Angie's list. The salesman, Adam, took the time to answer all of our questions (which were many) with a smile on his face, always responded quickly, and happily provided estimates for several different system configurations. He helped us maximize our rebates and followed through as promised. The install was scheduled on the day of our choice and the crew arrived on time. They cleaned everything up at the end of the day as though they had never been there. There was a small issue with the amount of stone that was placed under the AC unite to stabilize it. We called the next day and Sila sent a manager out within hours to correct the problem. Overall we could not be happier with our decision. We would highly recommend them.

Saki was very knowledgable and discussed what he would be doing. After completing the task (about an 45- 1 hr later) he discuss in detail what was done, the condition of the equipment and my future service options. Overall I was completely happy and will use them again in the future.

I called to have a technician come and service the furnace in our newly purchased home. Even on the phone they were helpful, recommending they come before Saturday night when it was supposed to be very cold. The technician came promptly and early in the time window they had provided me, asked a few questions and was done in an hour. He brought me to the furnace and talked me through what he had done and even gave me an idea of how much a new furnace would cost. He labeled everything on the furnace (gas line, power) so that if I ever need to call I can easily follow the instructions given over the phone. He even labeled the valves and power on my hot water heater! Overall I was really impressed with the professionalism, politeness and efficiency and will definitely be using them in the future!

They took such care in following up and making sure the whole job was complete, each worker that came out was always right on time, super professional and friendly, thorough and so CLEAN (my wife loves the fact that they wear shoe covers when going through the house). It is so refreshing to see a contractor take such personal pride in thier work. They might be slightly more expensive than the other quotes we initially got for this job but they prooved well worth it in quality! We would recommend them and will definitely use them again!

I tested my heater when the weather got a bit chilly a few weeks ago. It did not work. This company had the best Angie's list coupon(s) so I called them. Big Deal: I purchased the $69 Early Bird Special on Furnace Cleaning and Check! They also had a $30 off service call. and they have a $200 off installation of new heat or A/C system. A young repairman came out in a few days and diagnosed that the circuit board needed to be replaced. I asked him to price the part and in parallel price a replacement system. As a technician he would not estimate the replacement system, that would require a sales rep. We used the $30 off coupon. He got back to me the next day with an estimate of $600-$800 for the part. I did not hear back on the estimate for a replacement system for several days. I had to call to ask for a sales rep to come to my house. I thought the tech was going to pass that opportunity along inside his company. A nice young sales rep came a few days later. His Lennox price was around $9,000. With these slight delays I was given the chance to get a couple other estimates lined up. I told the sales rep I got a lower estimate of around $8,000 from R&D. All too typically, he talked down the other vendor(s) and recommended equipment (Bryant). He did drop his price about $800. But, that is saving I had to maneuver to get. When I told the sales rep I was going with the cheaper vendor, all too typically, he got negative, started to trash talk the other vendor, cut himself off mid-sentence and excused himself. That left a bad taste in my mouth, and helped justify my decision to not go with that company. I never did get my $69 worth of service. BTW, I also looked at Horizon (Lennox). I would have gone with Horizon's higher price, but their service plan was actually too good (10 years labor for 'free'). I don't plan on being in this house for more than five. So, I would have wasted money there. If I was staying in this house longer, I would have used Horizon. Don't forget to add in the annual service contract you have to buy to get the 'free' labor for 10 years. (>$100/yr for ten years = >$1,000). I'll write up something for R&D when they finish the job. They come tomorrow.

We are extremely happy with the service. The service/repair technician spent a lot of time cleaning the unit, and disposed of a lot of dirt, which surprised us. We had our ducts cleaned three months ago, and it looked like a lot of the dirt from the cleaning got pushed into the unit. We are recent home owners, and assume the unit was not cleaned in at least two years. The technician was also very professional and explained the service he performed and made recommendations. The condition of our furnace was fine, but he recommended a chimney inspection because he found broken terra cotta pieces.

The technician arrived on time, spent all the time needed, and corrected a few items not part of the inspection. Friendly, professional, and helpful. Money well spent.

Very smoothly. Had to reschedule the first appointment, did so in time. Arrived promptly at the rescheduled time, worked efficiently and quickly. Found no problems.

Once the technician left, my husband then researched the parts we needed and found that they were severely overcharging (by about $400-$500) us for each piece on top of doubling the price for their technician visit. I called back and explained the situation to the customer service guy. He did apologize and very quickly voided our check and sent it back to us so we could pay the proper price for the visit with the coupon. But he stood by their product pricing. My husband ended up calling a service within our neighborhood and they ended up finding our real problem and charging us an insanely lower price than what Sila quoted. So in review, they were overpriced, tried to cheat us for the technician visit and then didn't even diagnose our problem correctly, all while trying to get us to buy a new system worth $5,000. Don't use them!

Everything was fine and recommended a service contract. On the hottest day on record our A/C defaulted and wasn't working and because I has signed a service contract they repair was covered. They came out quickly. The tech very knowledgable.

They seemed to do an adequate job. I signed a contract with them, and they will be coming back.

I found SILA on Angie's List and stopped by at their office., which is close to where I work. Thsi was on a Saturday. People were working in the office, which gave me a good feeling. I expressed interest and they scheduled a visit to evaluate my needs. The visit took place as scheduled and took as much time (60 minutes) as they had told me. An estimate was provided on the spot. It seemed reasonable, particularly since I found a number of discounts on Angie's List. Once we decided to go with SILA and paid an advance, the installation was scheduled for two days later. The installation took less time than expected. The SILA folks are excellent people, on the sales side as well as on the installation side. Courteous, respectful of our property, very knowledgeable, skillful and fast working. Thank you SILA.

I could not believe how respectful and friendly he was. They put booties on before they came in my house. He inspected my house right away. He listened to what I had to say, and also seemed very knowledgable. He found what the problem was right away. There were 3 cracks in my heater letting carbon monoxide throughout my house. I was so pleased with how professional they were. If I have to call anybody back, they are the ones that I will call.

The service rep was very professional ,on time, courteous and knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. He also pointed out potential problems which might occur in the future. I would recommend him to everyone.
