+ -1 moreI had two complete HVAC systems installed as replacements in my home by Sila. The salesman was prompt and produced a written estimate of the work within a half hour. The price was not the cheapest I found but was competitive. The salesman told me about two angies list coupons from their company which saved me $400. The workmen arrived on time and were very professional. They wore booties when in my home and all floors were covered with drop cloths. The entire job was completed in two days with the air conditioning interrupted on only one unit at a time for a maximum of 6 hours each. Some issues that I had with the installation were resolved completely in two days. I highly reccommend Sila.

+ 0 moreI was most impressed by the support system in-place at SILA. I think we dealt with no less than 8 employees from scheduling staff to repair technicians to consultants to the installation team. They were in constant contact with us regarding when they would be here, what was happening, and our satisfaction with their services. This is definitely not a mom and pop company who will be gone tomorrow if you need anything. Regarding quality, they took care of some special requests we had by moving our air condition from it's current position to the side of our house which included re-routing the plumbing and electrical. (We did this because we eventually wanted a patio/deck out back where the existing air condition was located.) They did not charge for this and even took out the price for the initial repair from the total price of the new unit They did a great job with the installation and it works very well. Their plumbing, electrical, and duct work was done very neatly. They hauled away the old equipment and trash. If I could say anything negative (because no one is perfect) is they left a bit of duct seal compound on the floor where the new heater was installed. I was able to clean this up pretty easily so I wasn't too concerned.
Description of Work: Our central air conditioner failed. They repaired the unit and gave us (at our request) an assessment of our existing HVAC system which we knew was aging. We contracted them to replace the Air Condition, Heater, and Water Heater.

We knew our systems were aging, and on a recent check up for our a/c units, the technican from this other company showed us some area of concerns on the heater, and the costs were very high.When Andrew, the technican from Sila's arrived I explained our concerns at which time Andrew explained in detail what is going on with our systems. Yes, the systems are aging, however after thoroughly cleaning and testing found our heating systems to be in fine working order. I found Andrew to be extremely knowledgable, courteous, not pushing into products you don't need. Andrew is the type of person you would want to represent your company. I was so impressed that I did purchase a maintenance agreement with Sila's, which by the way, I brought the subject up about the purchase, not the othr way around.I highly recommend this company. I tried to use for a diagnostic checkup (to figure out what was wrong with one of the HVACs), but was billed for the diagnostic portion of the check-up. Said the deal was only for a preventative maintenance sort of check-up. Anyway, did a great job of finding the issues, cleaning the fans, parts, etc..., and making necessary repairs. Seemed pricy compared to my usual guy who services for me, but they were very professional and the outcomes were good.

Description of Work: Recently our central air broke. We were out of town and I needed a quick repair becasue my parents were taking care of things while we were away. I went to the first name on the Internet, it wasn't Sila. Company B did the repair and all was well...or at least I thought so. We wanted to get on a service plan with someone because we didn't ever want this aggrivation again while we were out of town. Company B gave us a quote and it was high and had contingencies in it. I wanted to know for sure what the cost were so we shopped around to get 3 quotes. Sila was the first price comparison. I called at 10 and they could come out the same day! Love it. By 12:30 two men were here and ready to take charge (ask for Nam and Greg, they are great!). They cleaned a coil for $160 that was quoted by company B to need cleaning at somewhere between 2 and 6 hours....could cost me $700. Not with Sila, $160 and 1 hour and they were done. With everything they offered me choices and options. No high pressure. There maintenance contract was a bit higher than two other quotes but after meeting them and seeing the level of service I am convinced I'd get what I'd pay for. I can't sign up with them because they pointed out that Company B fixed my air conditioner with "rescue motor" and not a warrantie part from Lennox. So, I have to back to Company B and get this agrued out before I can get my a/c under warranty with them. They also saw a vent problem that my plumber should have handled so we have to have him back out too. They were everything I look for in a contractor. I work in real estate and I have the chance to refer a LOT of professionals and you can bet Sila will be the first name I offer to any buyer and seller who needs HVAC work.

+ -1 moreWow! What an amazing experience. My heat pump stopped working over the weekend. Historically every time there is an issue with my HVAC it usually takes a couple of weeks to get the part and schedule the repair. I decided to try someone new and picked Sila based on the reviews I saw on Angie's list. The woman who answered the phone was very nice and she actually did not ask me if I had a contract with them. Not only that but she said that she could send someone out in just a few hours. Greg and Nam arrived right on time. They were both extremely professional, respectful of my property and obviously knew what they were doing. In less than 5 minutes they identified the problem and even had the part on the truck. Four hours call to repair, that never happens. I was so impressed that I signed a contract with them right then and there.
Description of Work: My heat pump stopped working. I called Sila to come out and troubleshoot the problem and hopefully make repairs.

Description of Work: I recently bought a condo and "inherited" a service contract with Silo. What an awesome company. They came today to perform routine maintenance but since I moved in last week, I suspected the HVAC was leaking cos there was water all over the floor around the unit. Shawn the tech explained and fixed the problem and could have not been nicer or more helpful. I will def. renew my service contract with Sila.

+ -1 moreSila was fabulous. We just bought our house and needed to get the (ancient) HVAC unit serviced. I picked Sila based on the reviews on Angie's List. Our technician, Rob, was absolutely fantastic. He was supposed to arrive between noon and 2 and arrived promptly at noon. He was extremely professional and gave us an honest and thorough assessment of our unit. He also gave us some tips for upkeep on the unit. He mentioned Sila's service plan but didn't push it on us. I really felt that he went above and beyond. The woman who answers the phones was also very nice and professional. Overall this was a great experience and I would highly recommend Sila.
Description of Work: Our heating and air condition systems were cleaned/serviced. We also got a quote for installing supply and return vents in our basement.

+ -1 moreThe representative sent to give us an estimate listened to our needs and did not try and tempt us with bells and whistles we didn't want.After the service which took place on 2 successive Saturdays we wrote this to Sila: Dear Adam, We wanted Sila to know how impressed we were with your two crews. Dan was a superb leader who treated his coworkers with kindness and respect. Working in a hot attic on a killer day, they did a great job and were unfailingly polite and pleasant. Huong Ngo was excellent as well. It turned out that there were two ways to get the tubing to the compressor, one straightforward but which would expose the insulation to the elements leading to gradual degradation and loss of effectiveness, and the other a more difficult way which took longer to accomplish but was much more aesthetic and enclosed the tubing under the roof of the house. He chose the latter and took pride in making the most of a difficult situation. We commend them both highly and feel they are real assets for Sila. Please pass our commendations and thanks along to the personnel department and your superiors.
Description of Work: Sila replaced 2 30 year old compressors and 2 30 year old air handlers with modern units.

Description of Work: I had an EZ trap installed on my AC that will prevent the ac drain line from backup & flooding into my laundry room. Install went weell & they left good printed instructions on how to clean the clear tub is it gets filled with dirty water or lint/etc. Haev noit hd to do this yet. I have a yearly contract with this compnay for 2 years now and they ac & heater maintence seems good. Contract covers: parts & labor agreement, seasonal maintenance at $385.00 Like that on one maintenance viist they added plastic clips on tags to all thelines in/out of heater/ac unit at no cost. They also warned me that some duck joints had should be tapped up. As could be gas leakage & recommeded a carbon deactor. I had a handyman/neighbor do thise things and nice to know the laundry room is safer.

+ -1 moreMy old boiler was slowly giving up, when I called in three different heating contractors. Dave Z. from SILA was the first contractor I spoke to about boilers, and then later hot water heaters. He was on time, courteous, and respectful (one contractor was so condescending that I wanted to through him out before he could complete his analysis). Dave walked me through all of the pluses, minuses and prices of different types of boilers. After getting information from two other contractors, I selected SILA , although the quote for my boiler and hot water heater were not the lowest of the three. I selected SILA for the professional way Dave handled my contract, and how they worked with me to select the appropriate boiler for the square footage of my house. Quality won out over price. SILA provides and excellent warranty for its products, too. If I ever were to get central air conditioning for my very old house, I would go with SILA without bothering to check with two other contractors.
Description of Work: Replaced my old boiler and hot water heater with state of the art models that started saving me money even during the moderately cool days of early March. Extra bonus of a programmable thermostat, and so much hot water, that I can shower, wash a load of clothes and run the dishwasher and the water still doesn't run cold.

They made one visit, we thought they had fixed something, and it seemed like a fair price, but then it didn’t work, so they came back and tried to sell me a new system. However, the system seems to be working now. They were out right away. I am not sure if I would use them again, I need to call them about something first and then decide.

+ 0 moreThey were very, very good. They did an excellent job and I plan on using them again this winter. They were very detail oriented. They coded and labeled all the pipes. I am a woman all alone and don't always know about pipes and wiring and all that but they labeled everything and also labeled where the shutoff valve was. They said that it was so when you call and something is dripping, you can tell them what it is that is dripping. It makes perfect sense! I paid the price for the coupon but it was definitely worth every penny of it. The price was a little higher than in my previous house that had an oil heater; they are higher than the previous company for the oil heater but I thought that the service that you got was worth it. They were on time and they were professional.
Description of Work: Heating and Air Conditioning cleaned and looked over and cleaned my heating and hot water system for the winter. The heating and hot water system are in the same area and they looked over the whole thing.

+ -1 moreAndrew the technician showed up on time, listened to my summary of the history of the problem. We settled on a plan and he went straight to work. I felt comfortable enough with him that I went back to mowing the grass. He finished in a timely manner and I was happy to pay the reasonable fee --considering the amount of trouble shooting required to find what turned out to be a short and to replace the entire thermostat cable. The whole experience took about two hours and was a very enjoyable experience.
Description of Work: At my Bala Cynwyd home, I noticed this cooling season that my high velocity, when turned on at the breakers, seemed to be running constantly. I decided to call Sila since I did not want a thousand dollar electric bill. Sila is the successor organization to the outfit which had installed the system for the previous owners of my property. I called Sila last Friday to set up an appointment and was delighted that I could get one on Monday morning. This was particulary remarkable since we here in the Philadelphia area are in the middle of an incredible heat wave.
