Renewal by Andersen of Philadelphia

I loved their service. They were here on time. They cleaned up after themselves. Everything was clean when they finished. The quality of the windows is great. There were a couple of things I was not happy with, they immediately fixed. I was happy with their work. When I get the other 4 windows done I will use Andersen.

Installers were fast, efficient, clean, and friendly. The windows were quite costly, but the quality is wonderful. Would use this company anytime.

They were very neat, fast and tidy. They are not the cheapest but they are much better than people who would set up as a competition. They way they do the job is they kind of make a presentation then when you agree with the contract they kind of niche it so every window opening is necessary so they can be sure that the window that are brought are made to measure to the opening, they are not just off the shelf. Then they sent a three man team and took out the old aluminium windows very neatly and tidily and they were very quick. I think they came at about 8:30 and they were done about 2 o'clock. They were very tidy, the windows worked properly and this made a big difference to our comfort, to the quietness within the house. We don't get as much noise, we don't get that condensation within the windows since the windows are cold.

I had called to schedule the appointment and of course I couldn't make the appointment without guaranteeing that both my wife and I would both be at home. I've had an endless string of estimates in the past and I'm used to it and expected it. I had scheduled on line and shortly after received a call to book the appointment. I was then asked a battery of questions to "see if I could be helped" or not and the attitude on the other end of the line was as if they were doing me a favor. After it was determined that "I could be helped" I was transferred to a dispatcher to confirm the appointment. The appointment was scheduled quickly for the following day after confirming for the 10th time that my wife and I would both be home. The woman came out was very nice and thorough however I did not need to hear the history of Renewal and a lo90 minutes later I ng pitch. I just wanted to know about the construction and the price. 90 minutes later I received the quote for seven windows ( standard windows, nothing extra ordinary) for in excess $13,200.00 then received a discount to $10,700.00. I din't know weather to laugh, cry or be enraged. ABSOLUTE INSANITY! The reason I had called was I liked the fact that Anderson was the manufacturer and the installer after being a victim of the Window Wiz*** debacle in my prior home I felt I would be treated fairly and I would have no worries. Then I learn from the salesperson the Renewal by Anderson isn't actually Anderson. It is a company purchase by the Anderson umbrella for replacement windows only and these windows are nothing tike the "cheap" Anderson windows from the Home Depot. So now I ask myself do I trust Anderson Windows at all? This was an insulting waste of my time. $10,000.00 for seven windows, seriously? It may have been a good looking window but come on, $10,000.00 for seven standard windows with a 10 year warranty? I'm sorry, but the Anderson name is forever tarnished in my eyes. This is why the local contractors get the business.

Work was done right on time. Installers were professional and courteous. Quality of work excellent. Old windows were removed and the installers cleaned up thoroughly. However, feel the products are somewhat pricey. While the quality of the tilt-in windows is good, still prefer separate storm windows, especially for soundproofing. Sales person was high-pressured. Didn't like that, but needed the windows replaced, so I overlooked the pushiness. One screen subsequently had to be replaced (Sept. 2013). The response was very quick and courteous. There was no cost involved since they honored their guarantee. All in all, would recommend this provider.

The sales person attempted to put the squeeze on us by giving a discount if we signed a contract for services at the time of his visit. When we reminded him that we only wanted a price so that we could budget accordingly to have the services done at a later time, he pressured us to sign on the spot. I was rather offended by his strategy. If a discount can be offered now, it certainly can be offered later. Renewal by Anderson has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Renewal By Andersen has developed a system that seemingly leaves little to chance. The sales rep provided a thorough presentation of the product line, followed by a frank discussion concerning price and comparisons with alternative product lines. Once agreement was reached, another rep was scheduled to measure and prepare specs for construction of the replacement door and windows. A tentative installation date was provided, based upon the approximate time necessary for construction. A few days prior to the tentative installation date, a scheduler called to finalize arrangements. On installation day, a team of four tradesmen arrived within minutes of the scheduled start time and immediately went to work. They first explained their approach to the tasks, then proceeded to put down heavy protective coverings to protect the floors. Demolition and removal of the existing door and window was completed quickly, with all debris being removed and secured in their truck. As installation began, the team seemed more like a well-choreographed dance troupe as they each went about their particular tasks of measuring, cutting, nailing, etc. All work was completed before the end of the first day, even though a second day had been scheduled in the event any problems developed. They removed their protective coverings and vacuumed the areas surrounding their workspace, then went over the work with us, demonstrating the operation of the new door and windows. The team members were very professional in their demeanor and attire, which reflected well on their employer. Renewal By Andersen is not the lowest priced company, but the quality of their product line and the quality of workmanship during installation led us to conclude that we received excellent value for the price paid.

good info and low-e demo was impressive. pricing was structured as 1year price guarantee, 30-day, and today only (about $1200 discount). estimated job time to do work; and scheduled time for project ( 4-6 weeks in future ); As a starting point, this first estimate gave a point of reference on 7 double-hung windows being replaced. pricing avg @ $1465 per window basic white with white capping. My impression is that provider is pricey, but they may have well-paid installers. also option of Sunshine = extra layers of E-coating to shed more heat from hot sun was interesting fact to consider. --- adding this review as this was also my first use of Angie's list!

We did not use this firm because of the salesrep's lack of professionalism.

I couldn't believe how fast these guys were. They can at 8am and by 12:30 were finished installing 11 windows. They were a team of 3 and were quiet and cleaned up everything so well you couldn't even tell they were here I do wish it was t so expensive or I would have replaced more windows.

I thought they were exorbitantly high priced. Everything was on the up and up. It's just that I know that they do the type of windows that they do. I put in Anderson windows before in my old house and I was able to do the installation myself. At that time, they didn't have the replacement windows, all they had were new construction windows. They're definitely good windows, I don't worry about it, it's just that I felt better about putting the vinyl windows in. They're good were but they're just high-priced. They came in and did all the measurements. Of course if I did order them, they probably would have come back and did another measurement.

I have used them about 15 years ago for windows too and now they put in new windows for me. The new windows are much better looking. Their work is also terrific. They did it in one day with 10-12 windows put in. It was already dark and they have spotlights so they can still work. I am very happy with the windows.

The quote they gave and their professionalism were ridiculous so we would not even touch them with a 10-foot pole. They were trying to talk us into purchasing windows that were not in our budget and then trying to talk us into redoing our siding, which we know it needs to be done, but after their presentation, we were like, "No." Their quote was way out of our budget. We met them at first when they had vendors come out with a ladder and we thought, "Okay, they came out to the house to look at what we had and what we need." But when they presented, that was when we were like, "Uh-uh."

The salesman came out to give an estimate but would not provide the sales presentation or estimate until he met with both me and my wife at the same time. Although I said that this would not be possible as my wife works days and I work nights (plus we have a young child), but without available. This is a rude and extremely outdated sales technique

Very professional. Job was done on time without any problems. Area cleaned up. Exceptional job overall.

They are expensive. I am happy with the windows and the workmen. I do not like the screens that they use on the windows. The windows are oval and they informed us that if they get damaged or broken they would replace them for free. We were trying to fix the screen and it fell out of the window and it got bent. When we called them they then informed us that they discontinued that a few months ago. The fact that we bought it under that condition we thought that they would come forward but they just told us that they were sorry and that they don’t do that anymore. We have that screen sitting in our basement and try and fix it ourselves. I don’t like their screens because they are too easy to fall out of the window and get damaged. They came when they said they would come. If they improve the quality of their screen then maybe we would use them again.

My experience was unique to say the least. Their quote started at $16,700 and by the time he left, he came down to $10,000. The young man was very nice and pleasant but I told him that I was not interested in dealing with a company that would drop the price like that. Their customer service department called 2 days later and I told them that I felt that I was buying a used car. He said that they didn't like to do business like that, but nothing ever came of it. They were very responsive and came within a day or two. It made me wonder what the windows were really worth.

Spent several hours in a high-pressure sales pitch with this company. Met them during the Philadelphia Home Show. When signing up for the in-home consultation, representative was very negative to other companies, trash talking them, saying their windows are junk, etc. Was handed the personal cell phone of the representative suddenly during sign up (where we had to fill out our information three times on three separate forms) to talk to someone else for scheduling. Felt weird and unprofessional. Upon consultation day, salesman was long-winded, pushy, and sexist towards my wife. We walked around and measured all the windows, talked about their product, talked about how supposedly horrible vinyl is, etc. Their product honestly looked very nice. But the price and pitch were horrible. Upon the close of our multi-hour expedition, we were presented with a $40,000+ cost for 22 windows ($1,800+ per window, people!). But magically we could take off 25% if we signed RIGHT NOW! If we waited three days, it was 20% off, seven days, it was 10% off, etc. Complete garbage pressure and pricing. The excuse given was that they would have to return and waste time/gas to talk to us again if we waited to think about it for a few days. First off, why would they need to come back in-person, and second, how does that equate to tens of thousands of dollars in difference of a few days. Your expenses do not add up to that, sorry. Other reputable companies will let you wait 30-90 days on a quote, ask them questions, etc. with no garbage price increases and "give us money now for a discount" schemes. Additionally, the salesman lied about other manufacturers windows and how they only have 70% argon, lose 90% of their gas in a few years, etc. Don't be fooled. There are standards that manufacturers adhere to, which makes that pitch complete nonsense. The ASTM and European Union have standards that state gas leakage cannot be more than 1% per year. I suggest everyone to stay away from Renewal by Andersen and either do it yourself, or go with a reputable contractor here on Angie's List.

They worked with me on the intitial proposal to meet our financial needs and got the deal done. very happy with product. they are expensive but warranty extends to next owner, very energy efficient.,

It went very well from beginning to end. The guy who did the work was a perfectionist. The work was done in two days. It was excellent service as they showed up when they said they were going to and completed the project in it's entirety.

I thought Renewal By Anderson was great. They provide all the services, from giving an estimate to installing. They drop in the window. They don't have to cut up new openings or close up old openings. It's rather expensive, but I had a bay window replaced, which was the most expensive one. They were good. Their stuff is custom made. They're not buying them off the shelves.
