I would highly recommend using R & D Heating and Cooling/ R & D Construction Company for all of your HVAC needs; let me tell you why. Yesterday, Sunday, I noticed that the temperature was rising on the first floor, even though the fan and compressor outside were both running. When I checked further I saw that the compressor and line into the indoor unit in the basement was coated in ice and the blower motor had stopped running all together. After letting the ice melt, unfortunately, the blower would still not operate and it was time to call for service. So at 8 AM this morning (Monday) I called R & D to schedule a service call, expecting that a technician would be coming later in the afternoon, or even Tuesday morning. The pleasant dispatcher asked for me to explain what was malfunctioning and then asked if she could call me back within 15 minutes. 10 minutes later I received a call back announcing that a technician was dispatched and would be at my home in 10-15 minutes to check out the problem!! Like clockwork, Dennis from R & D arrived at my home in under 15 minutes, with a smile and very pleasant demeanor. After discussing the problem that I experienced with the A/C yesterday and some of the troubleshooting I did, Dennis didn't waste time and determined that the problem was coming from the indoor unit in the basement. After testing all of the electrical components and starting with the least expensive item and working forward, Dennis identified a burnt out motor as the cause and recommended a replacement. The price for the new motor was $595, but I was given the option to purchase a one-year maintenance agreement for $160 that would give me a 20% discount on all parts purchased for additional repairs that might be necessary for the next year under the agreement. Dennis and R & D were nice enough to discount the motor on today's service call by 20% and not wait until, maybe, I had another unlikely repair during the coming year. This effectively allowed me to purchase the one year maintenance agreement for nothing and I know many other service companies would not have given me this deal on my immediate need repair today! In addition, Dennis did not try to up sell me to the more expensive maintenance agreement for $250.00 and recommended that the basic plan was more than adequate for my immediate needs. Since Dennis was already working on my repair, he took advantage of giving my AC/ Furnace system the once over under the newly purchased maintenance agreement, and even though my system has never had a professional cleaning and inspection since we built the house 12 years ago, there were no other recommended repairs or adjustments that would cost more money to be found. I was even left with two very nice furnace filters, even though one was all I was due under the agreement. Yes, I know, that an extra filter is not that expensive, but it is the small things that make the difference when dealing with the unknown when bringing a service tech into your home and I feel that R & D Heating and Cooling, and especially their tech Dennis, eliminated any feeling that they were in business to take advantage of their customers. They are top-notch in my opinion!!

Using Angie's list and other resources, I zeroed in on those HVAC companies I wanted to get a quote from. R&D Heating and Cooling was one of the companies that I contacted. The phone was promptly answered by a nice lady who answered a few questions and setup an appointment. The representative that came out was professional and pleasant to deal with. After the in-home assessment we had several additional exchanges via phone and email. He took the time to go over my home's heating/cooling loads, to discuss various options, and to answer every question I had. There were several issues I wanted to be addressed when the new system was installed, and he was receptive to including that additional work. The system he recommended and the price point seemed appropriate to me. So having a good feeling overall, I decided to go with R&D Heating and Cooling. The new system was installed immediately after we acquired the necessary approvals. I looked things over as best as I could and I believe it to be a quality installation. A building inspector came out after the new system was installed and passed it without any changes. I have used the system (fan and heat) for some time now and I have had no problems with it. My home has been more comfortable this winter and the new system is considerably quieter. I hope and expect to be as happy with the air conditioner this summer. Once the system is beyond the complementary inspection period, I intend to have them perform the seasonal preventative maintenance.

I live in Delaware and searched for vendors in to replace our homes HVAC unit. I contacted 2 in Delaware with good ratings and who I already used in the past. One quoted extremely high prices, the other came out to the home, took the information but never followed through with a quote. I found R&D Heating and Cooling through Angies List and called for an in-home estimate. The person was professional and prompt and responsive to my emails. I got an amazingly low price for a Trane unit. After installation, they were flexible with how I paid the day of installation. Later I received an email and phone call from the Office Manager telling me she registered me for my warranty and sent me the paperwork through email. They were so nice and accommodating. I would use them again without hesitation and refer my friends as well.

He said that the disconnect was melted, the compressor grounded out. He replaced the disconnect but we didn't have him replace the unit or the compressor because I thought the pricing was a bit high, and that it wouldn't be the unit we have now which works also with our heating unit in the basement. We have a York. He wasn't sure if he could get a compressor or not, but quoted about $2,500. I'm going to get a few estimates to see if I should replace compressor or unit and compare pricing. He was very polite but pushy about the urgency of getting the job done. He had his uniform on, was timely, which I appreciated.

Ron gave us a bid. We asked for justification for numerous aspects of the bid. Every time Ron came back with good reasons for the recommendations, and provided different options when we asked. We asked they complete some added ductwork following a previously completed energy audit. They agreed to do so. The team came in daily and completed the work in the attic, basement and exterior. They were very courteous -- our dog looked forward to seeing them every day. The work took five days. When they left, everything was completed. I was especially appreciative that they did such a professional job with the older ductwork.

They have provided me with personal service. Through all of my contact with them they have been very responsive to any request that I give them. Because they know that I am repeat business I get further reductions and discounts on things. I give them all A’s for their services.

They finished the job in a day and left everything immaculate. They had a very fair price. I interviewed about 5 people and I went with them. We had to push our installation date back because I went out of state to stay with my daughter in Michigan for her new baby. They worked with us and sat on the ordered equipment without any problem.
