Description of Work: We've used Mike 3 times over the last few years and he's excellent! This past time was for my son's laptop that just completely went black. Even the PC logo wouldn't come up... just black. Mike took it, replaced the hard drive, restored some other functionality that had been lost and got it back to us in just a couple of days. He's well versed, quick, and very customer oriented. Mike's my guy and, unless we move, he always will be! Thanks, Mike!!

Description of Work: Computer was tuned up, hard drive had to be replaced. As a result, it runs well, runs faster and I lost none of my information. Price & time did not vary from estimate. Petro called when it was discovered that my hard drive was bad and gave me a quote for a new one, which was very reasonable. He replaced the bad drive with one of higher capacity & speed, transferred my data, gave me the old one back, and I had my computer back at the time he said he would deliver. I would very much recommend him to my neighbors.

Description of Work: Michael picked up the computer and returned it the next day. He performed a clean up and optimization so my computer ran a little faster with less warm up and shut down time. He also scanned for malware and other unwanted programs and left a malware application for me to run periodically. He also updated Windows and Java. Importantly, he restored my internet access which I had lost and could not regain myself with the help of Verizon.

Description of Work: I contacted Mike because I needed to install another wireless router in my home which needed to be integrated within our existing home network. We already have a router on our first floor but since we were not able to get a signal upstairs another needed to be installed. Mike arrived on time and took about 20 minutes to configure the new router so that it would work on our network, He provided me with all the information in case I needed to reset it. In addition, he purchased a router for me and that cost is included in the total above. Mike was very nice, really understood my issue and now my whole house wireless works great. I would highly recommend him. I also like that fact that this is his own business and that he is the one performing the work. I will definitely use him again if needed. In addition, I needed to configure a printer to the new computer on the new router-I called Mike and he responded that day to provide me with instructions on how to go about getting the printer to work with the new router. I appreciated that!

Description of Work: I had asked Mr. Petro to help me at home with my PC. Being a MAC person, Mr Petro's service was outstanding. He traveled farther than he normally would to help me. Six months later, I called Mr. Petro to help me discover some information on my invoice and he solved my problem immediately. I highly recommend Mr. Petro's service.

Description of Work: I had used Mike once before to assist getting my older computer on line with FIOS. Verizon was not able to do what Mike could in 5 minutes. I just used him to get my wirelesss card and system operational.

Description of Work: After testing some things, and fetching a fresh power supply from his car (which didn't work), he guessed that I might need a new motherboard, chip, and case. I paid a $200 deposit on what he thought might be a $300 job. He took the computer to his shop. When he opened it up the next day, he took a look and saw damage on both video cards that came with the computer. (He suggested that 2 video cards probably were overkill for this machine, and that he could put in one new one and the damage could be fixed. And so it happened. He brought it back earlier (a day before he thought he could). When he returned, he gave me back my check ,which he never cashed, then wrote up a new invoice reflecting the above price. The honesty of Angie's List contractors never fails to impress me.

Description of Work: Computer was "frozen." Michael wiped the disk and restored it to a later operation system and also restored all the software that I had originally. He did this at his work place thereby not requiring me to be at home. He installed an icon on my desk top which, if activated by me would allow him to work with me if I have further problems.

+ -1 moreSee above. Computer problem. I called around for people to help me fix it and their prices. Mike was responsive and his services were reasonably priced-far less than a near competitor. He just seemed very trustworthy. He picked up my computer at my office, worked on it overnight, returned it and worked with me again when it seemed as if the problem reoccurred.
Description of Work: My computer cut out when normally browsing the Internet; the 'blue screen of death.' Mike responded promptly, came to my office, took the computer, worked on it, eliminated most of the problems and brought it back when he said he would. When it turned out the computer had one more surprising problem, he came to my house the same evening and worked with me for another 1/2 hour to try to resolve the second problem. Inexplicably, the problem didn't happen again but Mike was very patient, courteous and professional.

+ -1 moreMy computer kept freezing up and I couldn't figure out why. I called Mike up and spoke with him right away. He came over that evening to look at the problem and asked if he could take my computer home to better diagnose the problem. The next day he brought the computer back and the freezing problem was fixed! I didn't lose any data on my computer at all. I wrote him a check, he left a card. I had to call him a couple times but he worked all the computer kinks out with me over the phone free of charge. I don't know a lot about computers and Mike was very understanding and trustworthy. I never felt like he was steering me wrong.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and fixed bad video card.

Description of Work: My computer seemed to be overheating to the point it would shut down. I had had a problem like this before due to a frizzed USB port so I though this was arising again. I called the Geek Force and he referred me to Mike Petro since Geek Force's office was all booked up. He called me right away and set something up for the next day. Hah, silly me. As it turned out, my power was OK. The plug had pulled out!! First rule of computer tech support: Is everything plugged in? Still, it was worth the money to me because this computer, being an AMD, does give me some concern due to reputation for overheating. Michael continued what I foolishly started, to reinstall Windows. So then I had to download service packs and updates, which would no reinstall unless I disabled my spy ware program, the virus program, my firewall. So it was useful for me to have him.

+ -1 moreMy husband contacted Michael at 4:00pm and described the problem we were having. Michael quoted us a price on the phone and scheduled an appointment to come to our home the very next day. When he arrived he introduced himself and was wearing a shirt with his company's name. He took a look at the computer and asked a few questions, offering a complete explanation of what he was going to do. I asked him about the slowness of the computer and he took a look at the memory and offered, only if we wanted him to, an increase installment to our memory. He scheduled an appointment around my schedule to return the computer the next day. He took the tower to his home where he has his equipment set up to complete the virus debugging and to increase the memory. When Michael came back the next day he plugged in the computer and explained what he did. He also verified that the memory was indeed almost to full capacity and thus why our computer was running slow. He also installed a virus protection program and showed a few ways to tell if a site is safe. He made sure the computer was running smoothly and checked that the printer was still able to receive data. Michael also took the time to clean the computer as well. Pride of workmanship and Michael's knowledge about his business were evident.
Description of Work: After spending countless hours trying to get rid of an invasive virus that was originally disguised as a virus scan we contacted Michael for help.

He got right to work, knew what he was doing and in addition to fixing my computer he answered all of my questions and imparted a lot of knowledge. I will be recommending him to friends and will definitely call him again. His price was very reasonable.

+ -1 moreWe called Michael, left a message and he responded that same day. On the date agreed, Michael showed up punctually and started working. He was very professional and very efficient. He set the system up exactly how we wanted it, showed us several important features and gave us invaluable tips. It was an excellent experience.
Description of Work: Michael came to our house to set up a new computer, transfer data from the old computer, install a printer, install software and optimize the system. He also installed software on a laptop and set up a printer for it.
