Mike took my laptop and determined the hard drive was corrupted and was unable to recover any data. The hard drive was replaced with an SSD. Fortunately we use an on line back up service as well as backing up on an external hard drive so we were able to get our data back. We had Windows 10 on our old hard drive but there were startup/sleep issues with our model laptop. Mike recommended installing Windows 7 and we agreed. He updated Windows, installed common applications and initiated restoration of our files. Everything is working great!

Mike was great. He came right to our door and met with us. He came out when he said he would, told us exactly what he was going to do, and told us everything that it would entail. There were no hidden costs... he told us up front what it would cost to clean up the computer, and said he'd let us know if anything extra needed to be done. We received our laptop back shortly after, and it has been working hard ever since. We've had the computer for about 5 years, and it has never run well. Mike had it working as if it were brand new. We HIGHLY recommend him.

When I say that Mike Petro, owner of the service, saved me from pulling out my hair after I spilled liquid into my laptop, I am not exaggerating. When I called him, instead of scheduling a paid visit, he listened to my description of how the computer was acting and recommended that I buy a new one, not knowing whether I would hire him to do the data transfer. Fortunately, I did hire him. He arrived on time and stayed a lot longer than he expected (because of the amount of data that needed to be transferred) without expecting me to pay more than the quoted rate. He was even able to overcome my inability to remember several passwords for accounts on my computer. He is personable and trustworthy. And he offers a return visit within 15 days of the original to address any additional issues -- without further cost. I have already starting recommending him to everyone I know.

Michael Petro is outstanding. He returned my afternoon call promptly; he asked all of the right questions and explained his work and (extremely reasonable) price; knowing I had to work on the computer professionally almost immediately, he arrived the next day, installed and checked my new computer; transferred all data; set up my tricky email system; downloaded the programs I needed and confirmed that they working; took all the time that I needed to explain the operations of my new system; and, minus the hard drive, which he advised me to keep, disposed of the old computer. When I realized that I had failed to have him transfer my customized Word dictionary, he came back as a courtesy the next day and transferred it from the old hard drive; he followed up with a phone call. He is a complete professional; left my office as if no work had been done; and answered all questions knowledgeably. Everything went perfectly, and I recommend him without reservation.

When I inquired on-line about Mike's services he responded promptly (over a weekend), arranged an appointment, arrived on time and performed the services I needed. Price was fair in my opinion.

Michael arrived at the appointed time. He first retrieved my documents, pictures and settings from my old computer for transfer to the new one. He then hooked up the new machine and made sure everything was working properly, including Windows, Norton anti-virus, etc. He then hooked up a new printer & made sure it worked properly. On leaving he said I could call him with questions or if need be he would come back at no extra charge.

I have used Mike's services several times over the past 2 years. Mike has always been responsive, professional and most importantly, has done the job right. If I ever have any questions, Mike is always available and returns my phone call promptly. I would highly recommend him.

My computer suddenly stopped working on July 29. I left an email, using the Angie's List website, around 10:00pm for Petro Computer Solutions to contact me. The next morning I spoke to Mike Petro, advised what the problem was, and he said he could come to my home the next morning at a specific time to het my computer for evaluation. He arrived on time and took my computer. He advised he should have an evaluation the next day and would call me to discuss what needed to be done to repair it. He did call the next day and advised that the mother board had failed and would need to be replaced. He also advised that because of the make and model, there may be difficulty finding a replacement. He also advised that he could send the mother board for repair to an out of state facility that was much less expensive than replacing the mother board. However, that facility warranted its work for only 30 days. After further discussion, I decided I would rather purchase a new computer. Mike suggested some models that he thought would meet my needs and were reasonably priced. I purchased the new computer that day from a local store. Mike came to my home at the agreed upon time the next day and set up my new computer, including transferring the data from the undamaged hard drive on my non-working computer to the new one. My new computer is running like a fine tuned instrument.

Mike came to my house and picked up my sister's computer as my house is closer to him. He cleaned out malware, etc and installed a better OS. Returned computer to my sister's house and checked out her internet settings and Wifi. I had a problem today with intrusive malware. He linked me to a free malware removal site, which removed the problem. No charge. I have used Mike many times in the past. He is responsive, honest, knowledgeable and a nice person to boot. His prices are fair and he always comes through for me. Thanks, Mike.

I emailed Michael details of my unique request today (Sunday) at 1035am and he was on the phone with me in less then 10mins explaining the request was not his area of expertise. Being in Management for 10yrs+ within the Customer Service Industry (technology related) I appreciate the promptness and honesty of this vendor. Gaining my trust in him for any future work relevant to the services he has advertised here.

Mike was really terrific. He came right on time, and even offered to pick up a new printer for me without any extra fee .(The amount I paid also includes a new printer) He charged me exactly what he said he would. I would definately use him again!

If you need your computer repaired, stop right here and call Mike. My husband and I have used him in the past and he is the "best" and most reasonable around. He is competent, trustworthy and smart. He keeps appointments as promised and goes above and beyond to ensure your satisfaction. He explains things in a manner you can understand and guarantees his work. There is a reason he consistently receives the best possible scores on Angie's List. He picked up my computer on a Monday and it was returned on Tuesday. I trust his judgment and recommendations. Computer malfunctions can cause a lot of unwanted stress but knowing Mike is just a phone call away is a lifesaver.

My computer unexpectedly failed and I needed a quick turnaround on a fix. Called a couple of local store front repair businesses and was told it would be at least a week unless I paid for expedited service. Found Mike Petro on AG and gave him a call. During the call Mike listened to the symptoms and suggested potential root causes. He then clearly explained his fees and material costs for each possible solution. We scheduled a time for Mike to pick up the computer, and he was there on time. Mike promptly called with the final determination of the problem and told me the price and time to repair. After giving Mike the go ahead, the completed the repair and promptly delivered a working computer at the agreed upon time. Time since first reporting the problem to Mike to receiving the repaired computer was about 48 hours. Mike's personable nature made it an easy experience. Highly recommended.

Done on time, at the cost originally quoted. Mike came to the house and picked up the pc and returned it in the time frame he had promised. Very professional.

Mike responded to my call in a timely manner, explained his fees and arrived on time for the appointment. He took my computer back to his shop and later called me with his assessment and available options. He repaired the computer as promised, brought it back and helped me decide about upgrades on another computer. His service call fee is $129.00; $26.49 was for a new power supply, but he also did some software fixes. He was great to work with professionally and personally and seemed more concerned with doing the best thing over making more money for himself by doing ill-advised upgrades on my second computer.

New machine runs perfectly. Best computer service I have ever received. Cost was very reasonable.

Mike was prompt in coming exactly on time, and he was very thorough in explaining what he planned to do. He took our desktop off site to fix overnight. In the meantime, we also have a two year old Dell laptop that has two problems: the AC power cord keeps falling out, and a constant message indicating that the battery was on low power mode. Mike explained why he was not able to fix the AC power cord issue (which is a real problem for others as well), and we were both satisfied with his response (it takes an extensive amount of expertise and work to fix, and is probably not worth the expense of taking it to someone else to get fixed), and we also appreciated his honesty. In terms of the battery, he suggested where we should purchase a new battery online, and what to look for in terms of the product and the seller. The most important advice he gave was to tell us to look at the picture of the battery. Based on his advice, we took the battery out to view it, took down the information on it, and then turned the computer back on. Behold, the message light indicating that the battery was on failure mode disappeared, and within 10 minutes, the battery was fully charged at 100%! Now we do not have to replace the battery, so that saved us the unnecessary effort, time and expense of replacing an expensive battery that did not need replacing. In terms of the desktop, that presented more issues than we expected. Mike ran a series of diagnostics, cleaned up a lot of the junk on it, and returned it to us 24 hours later. For a while, it was working fine, but then began to slow down again. Concerned, we called Mike back, explained the situation, and he quickly agreed to pick it up again to look at it a second time to see whether there was something that he missed. Mike came back a second time, picked up the desktop, ran more diagnostics, and eventually was able to identify the real problem. He fixed it, brought it back within 24 hours and the desktop has been running great ever since! Throughout the process, he explained what he was doing and why he was doing it, and provided helpful tips and hints for how to keep the computer from getting as clogged up as it had been. He is extremely professional, personable and trustworthy. He did not charge us any additional money for the amount of follow-up required, and he informed us of that in advance. We highly recommend Mike, and will use him as our go-to computer person!

Michael was very professional. He responded to my call on Friday afternoon & picked up our computer on Saturday. He returned it on Monday, having performed all the services he promised.

Michael talked me through all the repairs. He took the computers overnight and returned them promptly the next morning. I am grateful that for less-than-the-price of a new laptop, I was able to have three old computers in good working condition again. We thought we were going to have to replace at least one.

He was prompt, professional, got the work done at a reasonable price and on time. He picked up the computer from my home. He was realistic about what he could and couldn't do (i.e. recovering data from the fried drive required a clean room, which he didn't have; he gave me a referral to a place in the midwest that could do the work).

My HP Pavilion laptop computer shut itself down last night. Just before it shut down, I noticed that the battery icon indicated it was on 6% and would shut itself down if I didn't connect it to a power source. That surprised me because it was connected to my power adapter. Shortly, it did shut itself down. I didn't know if it was a battery failure, a mother board failure, or some other problem I could not diagnose. I found Mike Petro on Angie's list and he is A rated. In reading prior reviews, on customer had a similar problem to mine and other reviewers indicated Mike would give advice to try to avoid a costly house call. I called Mike last night and left a message on his voice mail. He returned my call this morning and after hearing what the computer did, he advised it was likely the power adapter, that is, the power cord that supplies power to the computer to avoid using the battery. He suggested the quickest east expensive way to fix it myself, if indeed it were the power adapter, was to purchase a new one at a local computer store, plug it in and see if solved the problem. I followed his advice and he was 100% accurate in his diagnosis. My computer is up and running at no cost except for the new power adapter. What more could I ask? Mike could have required a home visit and charged me a fee to make this diagnosis but he didn't. I would definitely use him when required and I will recommend Mike to family, friends, and neighbors.
