I was very pleased with the work. All the workers were professional, courteous and timely. The project was initially delayed due to excessive rain, but now that its finally completed I am happy with the results. You can see that they take pride in what they do. My neighbors are jealous and now want to upgrade their walkways too.

We called G&V to give us an estimate on a basement and kitchen remodel. Tom was on time, professional, patient, and very helpful with our requests/questions. He sent the estimates over in a timely manner and was always available to answer questions and to help with follow up. We ultimately decided to go in a different direction with our project and did not use G&V, but I would recommend them though because they were very easy to deal with. I will be keeping their phone number for the future.

When calling for an estimate, I got an immediate answer by phone and appt. was set. Tom Falcone arrived on the day and time that was promised. He took pictures, measured and spoke to me at length about the job. I received an estimate via e-mail within two days that was significantly lower than another company I called. I have never had this kind of service from a contractor before! Brian was in touch with me to keep me informed of the details and coordinated his job with my arborist who was removing the old concrete and grinding the roots of a recently removed tree. Brian even stopped by my home on a Sunday to see if everything was ready for his job. I have NEVER had such an enjoyable and stress free experience with a contractor, right down to the men who came to pour the concrete. They were professional and friendly on the day they arrived as I was leaving the house for work and I came home to a beautiful new sidewalk. I will be calling Brian again when I want to have my driveway redone.....no question about it!! .

This entire process went far better than my wife and I thought it could. From the very beginning, Brian from G&V was in constant contact with either my wife or I, mostly by email - answering our questions within a couple hours of us asking, even when we emailed him in the evening. His crew was very professional and did a very nice job, minimizing the impact to the remaining curbing we didn't have replaced as well as to our landscaping and a wooden deck at the end of our driveway. In one place a piece of the remaining curbing (more of a very low, thin retaining wall) did come loose and the guys replaced it seamlessly. We were kept up to date with the various stages of the job by email and phone call so that we knew exactly what would be happening. They began by spending the better part of a day breaking up and removing the existing asphalt and the cement curbing. They leveled after that with stone and informed us that they would return in about a week to pave. They actually returned slightly sooner to install the belgian block curbing. Most impressively, the installers were here for almost an entire day just to install the curbing paying enormous attention to detail - including sinking the stones at the end of a pathway leading to our driveway allowing us to avoid having a step from the path to the driveway. And in what can only be deemed a very good eye for detail, they cut the last block in the path to make it work with the block they were installing. The following day the asphalt arrived and within a few hours we had a new driveway. We've had a few questions since, and have received very quick responses.
Description of Work: Broke up and removed old driveway. Dug up a strip of adjoining lawn to extend driveway. Removed old, deteriorated cement curbing from one side. Leveled entire area with stone and gravel. Installed new belgian block curbing. Installed new asphalt driveway.

Overall job went very well. Wanted to start in November by weather prevented a start until late March of this year after ground unfroze and water drained. Contractor was always providing status either verbally on the job site or by email. He was clear on what could be expected. He investigated and arranged for a construction permit with the township (even though I erronously thought one wasn't needed. Job did take longer than anticipated but that was mainly due to additional work I requested as we god further into the project. {extended retaining wall,, added large concrete block replacement, changed curb configuration at bottom of driveway.) Contractor had all the necessary equipment including smaller sized front lifters and soil movers that could operate easily in the confined spaced available. Same crew who was familiar with the job arrived daily. All were very polite and helpful. Concrete was finished beautifully with a swirl anti skid pattern. Driveway is now level throughout, easily hold two cars side by side. Annoying problem at the street where water collected whenever it rained has been eliminated/. Driveway base that ended in a high curb bump now has a widened concrete landing that leads to a new driveway concrete base and curb. Driveway completely smooth and completely level with a even gentle slope to the street. Concrete blocks and asphalt are thickened and much sturdier. Many in the neighborhood have had their driveways widened by I can say without a doubt that this job is better than any of them in both quality and appearance. Top quality work, materials throughout. Very Pleased
Description of Work: Provider removed entire existing asphalt driveway, removed existing 7 pad concrete walkway, several additional concrete pads. Existing driveway was a one car lane for 75 feet with a five foot down hill drop on the west side of the driveway. Provider build a long, deep retaining wall on the west side with landscaping blocks expanding the driveway to a two car driveway. Back filled with a stone concrete dust, which was fully tamped. He re-dug and prepared all of the concrete block sections, added stone and filled with at least 5 inch concrete on all the blocks. He created a new curb, a concrete driveway base, a new concrete entranced to garage and new blocks to link it to existing concrete walkway. Provider provided time for the back fill to fully settle after tamping, inspected the retaining wall for security and added asphalt along driveway mid section. New asphalt significantly thicker than old driveway.

The relationship started a little bumpy but the final result is excellent. I had G&V and another contractor give me a proposal for the work. When G&V came in substantially lower, I called the estimator to review the work and question if he had everything in his scope. He assured me that he did. I selected G&V and had a meeting with the estimator to discuss the project and he told me there had been a mistake in their estimate and their proposal needed to be substantially higher. This did not sit well with me but their new proposal was very close to the other bid which made me feel that this, indeed was the correct number. I was leaning towards giving the project to the other bidder when Brian, the owner, asked if we could meet. He impressed me with his passion and attention to detail at that meeting. Since the meeting went well and his proposal was a little lower than the competitor, I decided to go with G&V. I am an architect by profession and the final product I received from G & V still exceeded my expectations. Brian was on site every day until the job was complete. He and his crew were courteous, hardworking and they kept the construction area safe and clean. Brian would review with me what he was going to do each day and we would discuss the details. He discovered a buried sewer vent which needed to be moved. This was an extra charge but his fee was very reasonable. I highly recommend G&V.

We were introduced to Brian from G&V several years ago when he did extensive curbing/pathway for us. Our neighbors also hired him to do theirs (both neighbors) based on watching he and his staff install ours. He has completed other projects for us and we are always pleased. I've been able to call him or email him and ask a question on a proposed project or for a recommendation and he is always very responsive. He is very honest and will propose options which are more appropriate to our project. You will not regret hiring G&V for your home projects. .

My home was built in the early 1940s and has a stone and mortar foundation. When I tore down the old basement finish walls I found crumbling cement that, while still structurally sound, required some serious refinishing work. Brian and his crew came in and removed all the loose cement and refinished everything. Very hard working crew. Very professional and courteous. Also a very personable group that was enjoyable to work with. Competitivel pricing. The walls came out looking great! Soon after I had them repair brickwork and install a support beam over a sliding glass door which was improperly constructed.

The job was done very neat and professional. I could not have asked for any better service. These guys are the best !
Description of Work: I had a great experience with G&V Const. from the very beginning. From the time I called them and had a live person answer my call who was very pleasant, till the time Brian Goetz (owner) arrived promptly on time for my free estimate/diagnosis of my basment foundation wall, receiving my written estimate within 2 days, having the work completed in one week, and having a job done beyond my expectations. I had other basement waterproofing outfits to my house for estimates but they did not seem to want to fix the problem with my stone foundation wall like Brian had shown me. Brian actually warned me of this when getting other estimates to be ware of other companies wanting to just cover up the problem (my walls) with a black plastic membrane which would direct the incoming water down into a french drain and then pump the water out. Brian showed me that the plaster on my old 80 year old foundation walls were decaying and that they needed to be chiseled down to the stone foundaiton and repaired to prevent water from getting into my basement as well as prevent any structural damge to my foundation walls in the future. He told me that this would be the true answer to solving my water issues and it did. The crew was lead by his brother Tony who worked all day on time with his crew men. They worked really hard all day without stopping for any breaks. They arrived at 7:30 am as promised everyday and were leaving the jobsite everyday at 4:00 pm right on time. They kept me in the loop during the whole process and explained how after chiseling down the walls that a (dash coat) base plaster coat was being installed with a certain technique with their trowels to avoid any air pockets which could create hollow areas on the new walls. The craftmanship that Tony and his crew provided on my basement walls was outstanding. You do not find worker's in the construction business very often like Tony, Brian and their crew that care so much about their work very often. Also my walls were almost half the cost of the french drain systems that everyone else wanted to put in without fixing the actual wall themselves. I still can't understand how you could nail up this membrane to my walls that were falling down without repairing them first! Brian really knows alot about masonry work, and was a real delight to work with. I plan on hiring G&V to install a new driveway and patio this year as well. I am very glad that I found this company on Angie's list!

Responded quickly to my call and came out in the next few days to provide a quote. They provided good suggestions regarding the repair, said the work would take two days and emailed a quote within one week. This was in early Oct. Unfortunately, they werent available to do the work until mid-Nov. Knowing that curing of concrete requires warm weather, i questioned whether we should wait until the Spring, but Brian assured me the concrete would cure fine right up until about mid-Dec. In Nov Brian called and said they could do the work on Nov 15-16. i again asked about the cold weather affecting the concrete curing, and again Brian assured me it would cure fine. They showed up promptly at 7:30 to begin the work and completed the work in the two days promised (except for the post which had to wait three weeks for the concrete to cure). They did all the removal and stone laying the first day, and all of the concrete pouring the second day. All of the work looked good when they finished, except for the following: 1. All of the concrete work had an unexpected gray appearance. When i asked about this, Brian said it would whiten in a week to few weeks based on the air temperature. Well, it has been 6 weeks and it is still gray. i dont know why, but i suspect it has something to do with either his concrete mix or the cold temperature. We can only hope that it will whiten in the spring when warm temperatures return. 2. An unexpected swirl texture had been applied to the front porch. We did not like the swirl pattern and asked about it. Brian said that code required them to apply a texture to the porch surface (to prevent us slipping when wet) and that this was the most chosen style for porches. We had expected a more conventional surface pattern, and were bothered that Brian had not asked us before choosing the style. 3. The new apron entrance to the garage was a little lower than I wanted. I wish they had asked me how much drop-off i wanted. Bottom line is that while the structural work appears to have been well done (including the new post), we would have been much more pleased with the work if Brian had simply communicated with us better about the choices to be made (texture pattern and height of garage apron). I am also left wondering whether our concrete would have been whiter if we had disregarded his advice and waited to do the work in the Spring's warmer temperatures.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced old concrete front porch, 8x1 ft apron (entrance) to garage and few squares of sidewalk. Included new beds of crushed stone under all. Also replaced support post on front porch.

Response from G&V Construction Services Inc
Dear member, I have no control on which color the concrete dries from the concrete plants. We always pour a 4000 psi mix for more durability and strength. The concrete normally dries gray to a whitish gray color. The time of the year that we did the concrete does allow for a longer cure time, especially since it does not get any sun on the font of your house. As for the swirls, which is called a Roset finish, this is a much more appealing look for your font porch, instead of us just pulling a broom for a finish across it like new construction and commercial work where attention to detail never comes into play. As for the lip into the garage this is standard so that water does not enter onto the garage floor under the garage door area. This job looks beautiful and is most definitely structurally sound. I explained all of this to you in great detail a couple of times. The customer wanted the porch to have a smooth texture which would be unsafe and not allowed by code. Unfortunately I refuse to do work that does not meet todays standard buiding codes. I really just think that the homeowner was not sure exactly what new concrete looks like. I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused but believe me that this project was completed with great workmanship just like all of our other projects! I will be certain to make sure that all new customers know the difference between finish options and the reasonings behind them as I have always done in the past!

They had to dig up concrete driveway and replace with asphalt. The problems that we had with them was that they opened our garage (without permission, and kept it open during their digging. This meant that everything in the garage was covered with thick dust. In addition they dug up our neighbor's property (again, without permission), and left it that way (no paving or reinsertion of grass). When we called them back to seal the driveway, they did not respond to calls.

Wow! It would be nice to have been told these issues at the time the work was completed last year. All I was told was that the job was perfect and handled with great detail. I was given permission by the neighbor personally, and he approved me having approx 1-2 ft of clearance since I was digging between 2 houses to tear out this driveway. There was not even enough room for a machine to turn around it was so tight. I never had any problems with the neighbor or the customer we worked for at all. As for the garage door it had to be open in order for me to dig out in front of the door without taking a risk of denting the door. Also since the garage floor was so cracked up I sawcut it straight to make the new driveway have a nice clean edge, rather than look so rugged. I guess that was a bad idea to make someone's new driveway look the best that it could. As for the neighbors lawn no soil was needed since it was on a hillside. It just had to be regraded, which we did as always. As for the sealcoating of the driveway that we put in I did receive a call from the customer, told him I would stop by and email him the estimate. I did email the estimate over to him and never heard back so I figured he may have done it himself or hired another company to do it for him. Well I try to give everyone a professional job and treat everyone's house like it is my own. I feel horrible that this customer feels this way, especially since we have completed over 500 jobs since his and have not had any complaints about our work other than this review. So I am very proud of my staff for that!

The project was expertly done, and the work was meticulously performed. Brian explained the project in full detail to us prior to the start of the work, and provided very careful supervision of all work. He kept to his schedule, despite uncooperative weather, and went the extra mile to ensure everything looked perfect. All work looks terrific. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: G & V Construction removed our existing concrete driveway (80 feet long) and existing concrete patio. They installed a new paver patio in the back, poured an asphalt driveway in the front of the house, installed a paver walkway from the driveway to the front steps, and poured a concrete pad for firewood and trash cans along the side of the house. They also landscaped the front, side, and back yards, finishing with new grass seed in these areas.

Brian promptly arrived at the agreed upon time to perform the estimate and he thoroughly explained the process of the project. We received a detailed and easily understandable estimate emailed to us within a couple days. After contracting with Brian, he set up dates that worked around the schedules of other work being done at our home, so that there was never an instance of someone needing to park their work vehicle on concrete or asphalt that was curing. Brian and his men showed up exactly when they said they would and were professional and courteous throughout. During the excavation Brian noticed that there was going to be an issue with leveling off the new expanded part of the driveway and quickly notified me and showed me the issue. He provided a suggestion and was able to clearly explain and execute what needed to be done in order to get the driveway in without future problems. In the end we have a beautiful expanded asphalt driveway and concrete apron that looks great. It was a pleasure working with G&V. We have used G&V for other concrete projects and have always been pleased. I would highly recommend G&V to others!

He helped guide us in selecting our fixtures, etc. We selected higher end materials than what he had projected so the ultimate price was higher than the estimate. The team members that did the work were always punctual and very professional. They were very responsive to any suggestions that we had, and also in completing some touch up painting and minor adjustments. Getting the job finished as scheduled was a high priority for them. The finished result looks great! We hope to use this company for future projects.
Description of Work: Remodel of bathroom. The house was built around 1960. We had constant problems with moisture and peeling paint. After consulting with three different contractors, we decided to totally gut and remodel the bathroom, and chose G&V to do the work.

I called G&V and arranged an appointment for an estimate for our kitchen countertops and backsplash. Tom was punctual and very helpful with answering my questions. Estimates were given and timeframes confirmed. G&V stayed on schedule with the various phases of the project even with changes and additions to the plans that I added along the way. We changed our mind and decided to purchase all new appliances. Tom promptly referred me to a reputable appliance store. This also added time to G&V's timeline to remove the old appliances and coordinate the installation of the new appliances. This all went smoothly and without incident. The timeframe for completing this project from start to finish exceeded our expectations! Especially since we scheduled it in the month of December knowing we were hosting the Holidays at our home and would need the kitchen asap! Overall as stated above, we couldn't be happier with the services provided by G&V Construction and highly recommend them!
Description of Work: I just have one word for G & V Construction. Amazing! We delayed updating our kitchen for years because of the negative feedback we heard from friends and relatives about their remodel experiences. G&V couldn't have been more responsive to our questions during the entire process! They were punctual, responsive, and most of all professional. Thanks to Tom for putting up with all of my endless text messages throughout the week and doing such a fantastic job coordinating the work with the other contractors, plumbers, electricians, and countertop staff. This ensured the timely completion of the work. Frank did a beautiful job on the backsplash! He was always professional and his craftsmanship is out-standing. We have several projects that we are planning to complete now and we highly recommend G&V Construction for your renovations!
