G & V gave us an estimate that included using the materials that made up the patio, but resetting them. The estimate was accurate, and we liked that they primarily used what was there, rather than tearing out and using new materials. The mason, Robbie, explained what he was doing when he worked, and the final result looks great!!! We're very happy. The work took three days to complete (what the original estimate was), and it went well. The over all effect is good, and we'll get a couple more years out of an old patio (which is what we wanted). In fact, the step was broken and cemented badly when we bought the house; the repair makes it look like it's never been broken.

Everything went fine. I just decided not to use the company because of their price.

I contacted Brian Goetz using information obtained on Service Magic with the objective of getting a quote on concrete work. When Brian and I spoke as he walked through the job sight his complete knowledge of the construction business, confidence in his ability, and forthrightness in telling me that he outsourced when it made quality and cost sense, caused me to ask him to oversight the renovation job that was proceeding as well as being available for the concrete work when the weather was more temperate. Brian consulted with me every three days thereafter and the fact soon emerged (from the primary contractor’s own mouth and from Brian) that the primary contractor had bitten off way more than he could chew. He was drowning and Brian spoke with him on about February 5, 2010 and by mutual agreement took over the job on February 9, 2010. Needless to say progress began happening in rapid fashion after that. All work was completed without cutting corners, in highest quality, and with effective use of time. Brian was very good at communicating what was going on and what would be going on. He was very effective in communicating cost factors. He was extremely forthright about risks presented by unknown contractors as they were risk factors we could not accommodate at that point on the job. Previous contractors had wasted enough resources already. In one case, Brian approved of the use of an outside contractor for the hardwood flooring and then changed his mind as it became clear that risk factors might derailed our time line, which at that point was a critical factor for success. Although the outside contractor did provide a very competitive bid for the work Brain was able to complete the job for 20 percent less and his application took the hardwood into the kitchen, which was not in scope on the outsider’s bid. It was very fortunate that Brian was available to clean up the mess left by the previous contractor and carry this job through to completion and then ultimately a successful sale using his contacts in the field. I give my highest recommendation of G + V and his allied contractors for their honesty, forthrightness, effective work ethic, communication, and just being good people.

We had talked to other contractors about the remodel of our kitchen but Brian gave us confidence that he would know how to solve some wall and floor problems that came with our 1917 bungalow. He was very ready to do what needed to be done to work around new plumbing, uneven ceilings and changes to the floor tiles. He was flexible to let us do demo work to help with our costs He and his crew persevered through the two recent major snow storms to keep us not too far behind and get us functional. We are especially pleased with the professional carpentry work that duplicates the original door ,window and baseboard trim from the rest of the house. We had originally found Brian on Angie?s List while looking for a mason for some stone work, so we are really glad that we choose to to get an estimate and decide work with G&V. The level of professionalism really shows in the finished product.

G&V had the best price of the 5 estimates I obtained. They did a superb job. The stairs look fantastic and they even patched the driveway where the landing connected to the drive. They finished in a mere 2 days and cleaned up so well.

G & V excavated the old walk way, leveled the area and installed a beautiful hardscape walkway. They came out when they said they would to give us an estimate (you know how rare that is with contractors). They gave us a professionally prepared estimate and showed up on time every day and completed the job as scheduled. I was very impressed how neat and polite the owner and his staff were. I will use their services again and highly recommend them for any type of hardscaping project. Our walk way has greatly improved the exterior look of the front of our home. They did an excellent job!.
