Shreveco Building & Remodeling

Our challenge was that we had a bathroom that was carved out of a tiny space which, presumably, was part of an attic in our 124-year-old house. There was only a 4-foot shower space, a tiny wall-mounted sink and a toilet. We wanted to install a standard 5-foot tub and a human-size vanity along with a modern toilet. The bathroom was accessed through a door off a short hallway ending in a linen closet. We figured we could remove the wall between the bath and the hallway and place a new entry door to the bath where the hallway began. Except there wasn't enough width for a door. And if we wanted a full size tub, there was even less space. Beams, load bearing walls, joists running at weird angles. You name it. Randy Shreve came out and assessed the project. I was immediately put at ease. His plain-speaking, no BS responses to my questions didn't sugar-coat things, so I knew exactly what the challenges were and how his guys would attack them. Clearly, he'd been around old houses before and knew how to deal with these issues. The project took roughly 3-4 weeks, allowing that it spanned the Christmas/New Year holidays and a couple of snow storms. (I should note that other plumbing and framing work was done during this time period in prep for other projects, so I'm thinking two weeks would've done it if you don't count the other work.) Thanks to the ShreveCo guys and their inventive and clever solutions to some scary problems, we now have a beautiful, modern and spacious bathroom.

We were originally thinking of a small DIY bathroom refresh but in the end went in the opposite direction and hired a contractor for a total remodel with higher end materials. We looked for 3 companies for estimates and called ShreveCo based on recommendations in Angie's list. We chose ShreveCo for the job based on price and comprehensiveness of their bid. Communication with Randy was a bit slow at first (the company seems pretty busy) but once a start date was agreed on, the workers were on time and work proceeded at a good pace. Quality of work and attention to detail was very good which we really appreciated given the materials we chose. A couple of changes we made along the way were handled by the workers (one of whom, Greg was the son of the owner) without undo fuss. We also appreciated the care taken to protect our property and clean up once the work was completed. We had a couple minor issues with the material we ordered from Hajoca but ShreveCo took care of the problems. The final cost for our project exceeded the original estimate but that was due mainly to the materials we chose and additions to the project we made after receiving the bid. We have a couple other projects in mind to take on this year and plan to use ShreveCo for those as well.

If it could go wrong, it went wrong. The worst home improvement experience ever.

Wow, just wow. I can't begin to tell you what a great job these guys did on this roofing job. To start with, the house was built in the 40's, added on once, and the roof is a very difficult one. It's not huge but there are many steep sections, multiple dormers, two chimneys, a cupola, odd small runs and an addition that was not cut in properly at the roof line. I got quotes from four different roofers and they were all in the same ballpark. However Randy really impressed me with his knowledge of exactly how the house was constructed, what the problems might be, and the thoroughness of his estimation process. I got the feeling that he really could accurately size up the job due to his years of experience in home construction and renovation. It did take a while to get the job started as this guy is busy (as are all contractors worth their salt). Also Randy and his sons are personally working on each job to guarantee the work being done properly, they aren't just sending out a bunch of crews unsupervised. The original estimate was for $8K with the knowledge that it would probably bump up a bit depending on the condition of the underlying sheathing. This did turn out to be the case and they used about 5 full sheets of plywood replacing bad sections. On top of that we decided to replace two skylights and resided the two front dormers. At no time did I ever feel that we were pushed into adding more items on to the job. Randy offered to do the work either way with trying to preserve the existing siding or skylights or to replace them as we wished. In the end we decided that it was cheaper in the long run to do these extra items at this time. The prices he gave us were extremely reasonable and it helped him do a really professional job that looked fabulous in the end. Small money, big return. Once the job was started the crew was extremely punctual and worked their butts off. Demo took two days and went as expected. After that they did the sheathing repair/replacement and went to town on the roofing install. On several occasions they had me up on the roof to explain what they had come across, options for fixing problems, and to show me how they were improving the roof design. This wasn't just a simple replacement. As the roof progressed they explained the materials and process. These guys are GAF certified roofers which means they know exactly how and why certain materials are used and installed. During the course of the work they found and corrected several problems with previous roofing work, flashing, and remodeling. At each juncture they explained what they found and how they were correcting it. They really took pride in their work and in educating their customer about every aspect of the roof and their home. In the end it took just over a week and the results are amazing. We have received numerous compliments from the neighbors on the skill of the crew and the end result. We are completely satisfied with the results and have peace of mind that we have a solid roof over our heads that is better than when it was new. We are so happy with the work that we are planning on using ShreveCo for some additional remodeling work next season. These guys really know their stuff and I recommend them without reservation.

They showed up on Wednesday and started to unload their equipment and set up a game plan. After all the equipment was unloaded they started to take out the old windows. They managed to take out and replace 9 of the 13 windows the first day. Also some of the windows they removed they had to cut apart some of the old framework to install the new style of windows which took extra time. Day 2 was equally as productive as they finished taking out and installing the last couple windows. After all this was done they start to do trim work and put aluminum casting on the oustide of the window which is custom made. Needless to say they did a great job on day 2 and only had 2 windows left to make the alumium casting for. Day 3 they knocked out the remaining 2 windows. I was beyond on happy with all the work that they did. Workers were very professional, polite and they clean up as they go not leaving a mess from room to room. I would use ShreveCO again in a Heart beat!

They were easy to work with and demonstrated attention to detail by checking with me regarding my preferences before installing the products, ie. tile configuration, placement of the soap dish, shelving, etc. Ours is an older home and they were very patient with the extra work that it took to get it right. They also shared suggestions which I found very helpful in order to get the best results. My husband and I are very pleased with the outcome, and we will certainly hire them for future projects. We have used ShreveCo in the past with excellent results. They re-did our back patio, including pouring a new cement base pad, new ceiling and trim and support beams and they also remodeled our kitchen. We have always been very pleased with their work and their price quotes are very reasonable.

The work to my property was performed quickly and professionally, I am very satisfied with the workmanship and execution of the project discussed vs. the end result. I intend to contact ShreveCo for several future projects.

Randy and his team were absolutely great. They were always on time and finished the work in the time frame provided. The workmanship is exceptional. Attention to detail was paramount. Shreveco did not do any shortcuts to save money for lesser quality. Any unknown issues he and his team came across, such as electrical, were addressed and fixed. Details of repair were explained in layman's terms. Randy and his team were always cordial and polite. Our bathroom and upstairs looks fabulous. We are extremely pleased and can only recommend Shreveco.

Perfect! The best company to have done work for me. Him and his son cleaned up everytime, were very courteous and did a beautiful job on everything.

Like many people, my husband and I did our due diligence and received several estimates before ultimately deciding on Shreveco. Randy Shreve and his team are the best in the area and they take great pride in their work. Not like some roofing companies that have contract workers that come in, throw on a roof in sub-zero temperatures and then leave again. ShreveCo doesn't just put on a roof to "make a buck". They do it right and stand behind their work 100%. In speaking with a lot of roofing companies, he was one of the few to thoroughly explain the process and and told us that they have to wait for the weather to turn before putting on our roof. There are so many roofing companies out there that won't tell you that it needs to be about 50 degrees before installing a roof so that it seals properly. Randy and his crew are very professional and we've received a lot of compliments from friends, family and neighbors. I highly recommend them over the other roofing companies in this area.

My husband and I decided to change the 2nd floor layout of the house we bought to open up and expand the master bedroom and also the bathroom. Our vision was to knock down a wall between the master bedroom and another room to open up the space and provide a sitting area for the master suite and a large walk-in closet. Shreveco was the contractor we chose for all of the projects (including our bathroom renovations) and Randy and his team did an exceptional job! They were very diligent with preserving the electrical outlets and return vents and they relocated the attic access point to the walk-in closet. They made a few recommendations, saw our vision through and it came out great! We are more than impressed by what all they've done to our home and how wonderful it all looks. I highly recommend Shreveco to anyone that needs interior OR exterior renovations!

ShreveCo replaced our siding, gutters, soffit and fascia after they removed brick from the sides of the house because it was starting to detach from the home (btw, their mason did an excellent job) and replaced our roof! We couldn't be happier with not only the appearance of it all but the level of expertise and professionalism was bar-none. He walked us through the entire process and explained the different levels of siding to us and the benefits of each. And he worked with us on the pricing to keep us within budget. Randy and his entire team are the best of the best and they don't do anything without asking and always recommend the best options (even if it means more work for them). For example, we had four columns in the front of the house and they had to replace the soffit and fascia around each. The column that was butted up against the garage (which wasn't load bearing) was less than appealing and they asked if we wanted them to remove it (at no charge). I mean what contractor makes more work for themselves without needing to?! That one little thing made the front of the house look so much better and kudos to them for recognizing and suggesting it in the first place! I really couldn't be more satisfied with all the work that they put into our home and with such care and professionalism. I would hire them again in a heartbeat!

This was the first of several projects performed by ShreveCo. We actually stumbled upon their contact information doing a google search for "Roofing" but quickly realized that they offered a lot of other services for all of the home improvements that we were looking to have done (roofing, siding and interior work). I can't tell you how lucky we were to find a "one stop shop" let alone one of the best builders in the area! Not only were they willing to work with us on price, but they made certain to clearly understand what we wanted to achieve and how best to go about it and stay within budget. They were very thorough throughout the entire project making certain that the work was done right even if it meant taking extra hours or days to do it. And since the renovations were done without us being there, I couldn't recommend anyone more trust-worthy, honest and conscientious about their work AND our home. The actual project itself was quite the task as the house was built in 1970 and no one knew what was inside the walls until they tore them down. Not only did they have to replace a lot of plumbing, but they had to replace the floor boards, re-wire all the electrical and tear down a wall to expand the master bathroom. A few of the bathroom fixtures (which we bought on our own) came in damaged and they were quick to notice and took matters into their own hands and had them sent back for new replacement parts. They really went above and beyond and our bathrooms turned out AMAZING!

Randy asked what it was I wanted in my door,from the door itself to the hardware for it. showed me many products, the higher and lower end for quality and price. Went shopping with me to pick out the hardware for my door (deadbolt,handles etc.) They were on time and Wow did they impress me with the quality of work in the little time it took them to get the work done. ShreveCo. is the company to hire for all home improvements BIG & small. Will be hiring them for more improvements. Thanks Randy! High five the crew for a Job well done. Love it!!

The original quote was increased as time went on. They did nice work in getting things done, but did not come back and check on things to be sure they were properly installed after it was done. The two additions have very limited heat because of this. 2/20/14 I would like to add the duct work for the heating was not performed by this company. Since they didn't frame the door correctly leading to the garage, we now have limited heat since it is constantly escaping from the door that was not fitted properly. This should be a lesson learned to all reading this. How this business could be expecting a high score for their service is unbelievable to us. The molding in the kitchen around the base of the island was not completed. There were some things that were not completed. They did a good job, but the final inspection was never done. I have contacted them 3 times since, and they have not contacted me back or answered my emails. The electrician was provided by the contractor. They need to communicate and work together better especially if insulation was never replaced. I have since hired someone to "complete" the job in its entirety. Still awaiting the final inspection from the township, since the contractor never told them the job was complete.

It didn't. Randy seemed great. Talked at great length about what he'd do and how the work would be done. He talked for well over an hour about how honest and reliable his company is. I texted him several times over the next week to schedule a time that worked for him and my tenant. I secured an entire day of the following week where he could come and work at the house. I repeatedly texted him and no reply. I finally got ahold of him the day before I needed the work done and he said he was booked and couldn't do it until the next week. I left him another message to reschedule and he never replied. I think Randy has all the work he needs.

The quality of his work is impeccable. The addition of the back deck required some siding. He was able match the siding exactly by pulling siding off a hidden side of our house and then putting new siding where he removed the existing siding. He is very meticulous with details. He, and his men, are very easy to work with. They are careful about cleaning up behind themselves. They are very personable and user-friendly people.

We had a very positive experience working with ShreveCo. From the very beginning of our search for a contractor, Randy was very easy to talk to and interested in how we wanted to improve our home. He was open with us and listened to what we wanted to have done to our house. He took the time to come to our house, listen to our needs, and give experienced recommendations. ShreveCo employees and subcontractors provided us with excellent service. They were very respectful of our home, family environment, and worked around our schedule.Everyone who worked with us took the time to listen to what we wanted and offered suggestions to ensure we considered all our options. The workers kept the work site clean. All debris was removed promptly. The addition on our home appears to have been part of the original home . Our neighbors are always stopping and complimenting us on our addition. What really made us feel like we chose an excellently qualified contractor was when our township inspector and loan inspector both complimented and made comments to us on the excellent quality of craftsmanship that went into our addition. These two people go to many home renovations and told us that it was some of the best work they have seen.

I have dozens of different contractors come give me estimates on my roof. I had a 60 year old roof that was never really updated or repaired, with shingles that were falling off ( the house had two layers of shingles). I had a neighbor tell me about Shreveco and I gave them a call. Shreveco is a very friendly company which helped put my worries about my roof repair at ease. When they gave me an estimate I felt comforted by them that this process was not as stressful as was worried it could be. I liked how everything was easily explained out to me so I understood everything that was going to take place. I liked how in their estimate they had a list of the parts that they were going to use that was great to know because it gave me the confidence that this company is very professional and straight forward. I picked Shreveco because of that they didn't just give me an estimate they gave me peace of mine as well. When they came on Monday they were very professional and got straight to work. I was impressed about how organized they were, they knew exactly what they were doing and they did it right away. The process took three days, and thankfully heat or rain were not a big factor. During the repair Sheveco came to me and told me of other improvements to my roof I could do to better help my home. They recommended to me a wind turbine for the roof to help suck the hot air from the house out because I did not have any ventilation in my house. We decided to go with that process and I am so grateful they recommended that and we did it because when I am upstairs in my house it is no long hot and I can tell the air flows better in my home. I think this will help with my heating and cooling bills as well!! I choose a red color for my roof shringles and it look absolutely amazing. My friends who come over to visit actually pass my house because they do not recognize it. When I take walks with my family around the neighborhood, my neighbors stop me and compliment my roof. My new roof really makes a great impression of my neighborhood and my family. I want to thank Shreveco with all my heart for this amazing gift of an outstanding roof.

Randy Shreve and his crew all did a very professional and gorgeous job on my front porch, patio and walkways remodel. Randy was very responsive when I called him and we met right away to discuss the job. I had very definite ideas of what I wanted and Randy contributed more ideas that really enhanced the overall look of everything. He was very friendly and easy to work with. He uses all high quality materials and the crew did fantastic work. I have very high standards and was impressed with the great job they did. I liked his whole crew and they did a great job advising me on some repairs they encountered, as well as design advice they offered to enhance the project. Randy's mason, John Matter, also did an outstanding job on all the bluestone for the porch, patio, sidewalks and mailbox. All of the stonework is first-class and absolutely beautiful. Neighbors from all over the neighborhood stopped by while work was going on to admire everything and the final results are stunning. I am thoroughly pleased with all the work Randy and his crew did and would highly recommend him to anyone. I'll be using them again for future projects.

Because of quirks with each job (such as supplier problems, unanticipated modifications, weather, etc.), when you hire a contractor, do not expect things to go exactly on schedule. This company did their best, did it well and quickly.

He was excellent did a good job on replacing my roof. They were very punctaul, cleaned up very well, they were very professional also, and they did quality work.

Our back porch had been infested with carpenter bees since we bought the house several years ago. It was also just ugly, worn and clearly rotting in spots. It needed to be replaced. When Randy came out to give us an estimate for the project, we loved that he had a vision for the project and didn't just stop at what we suggested (because we really didn't know what we wanted or what would be best). We batted ideas around, and came up with a plan that fit our budget. His team was fun to work with (and were great with our dog) and we love our new porch. We also had an old basement window that needed to be replaced, and a bay window with water damage (installed incorrectly a decade ago by a company I will not name, but one that the ShreveCo team said they correct a lot of their work). We had bid those projects out to another company that would have cost a couple hundred dollars less, but it was worth it to us to go again with ShreveCo so we'd have no doubt of the quality of the work. We knew that if they found any other issues in the midst of the project that those issues would not only be addressed, but addressed correctly. They do fantastic work and we're very pleased with all the results. They're a little pricier than some other companies, but the extra money is well worth the quality of their work. They're also a very nice family (father and two sons, as well as other crew members) and were a pleasure to work with. We're moving out of state, but if we were staying in the area we would absolutely use them again.

My wife found Shreveco online. Mr. Shreve came to our home, inspected the work area, and not only told us what the problem was, but showed us the problem. He then explained what he intended to do and how he would do it. He told us we'd have a bid in a couple days and we received it within a week with a start and finish date. We accepted his bid and work began when he said he would and suprised us by finishing within a few days! They are reliable, and work diligently. Because my wife and I work days we had to give Mr. Shreve a key to our home. I was a little apprehensive, but I shouldn't have worried so much because they are very honest, hard working and trustworthy. Will I use them again? YES!, will I tell friends and neighbors about Shreve Construction Company? a resounding YES!

From replacement windows, to tearing off two layers of old siding and sheeting, insulating exterior walls, installing new OSB sheeting, installing quality full-back siding, soffit/facia/venting, gutters, porch roof, and misc electrical work, the overall workmanship was excellent and completed in a professional manor. I had been planning this exterior remodel, for well-over 5 years until the equity in my home was sufficient to cover cost of this project. My home was in desperate need of some TLC. I couldn't keep the temperature above 68 degrees during the heating season. It was time to replace and insulate my home exterior. I had my own design ideas including a detailed concept of my exterior goals. I applied and received 6 estimates from contractors and specialized siding/window companies to get a good feel of knowledge and cost that would best serve my needs. Shreve Co won the contract. Randy Shreve and his son's worked through my ideas and goals and came pretty close at being able to meet all of them. They recommended a local company to get my project started with yard grading, drainage, and replacing sidewalks. That part of my project went well and set me up for getting my home exterior done. I was a little apprehensive about completing this project during winter, but Randy assured me his crew wouldn't have any issues getting the job done. ShreveCo's crew came in and got started right away. They were prompt with their schedule, friendly, and most importantly careful with my home inside and out (especially with my landscape void of grass). Mud was issue but they were able to work around it and in it. From replacement windows, to tearing off two layers of siding, insulating the walls, OSB sheeting and finally with the installation of quality fullback siding, the overall workmanship was excellent and completed in a professional manor. Did we have issues along the way? Sure we did, but I have to say, they did really good job. Disappointments: Some cost over-runs were unexpected and could have been better communicated. Even though the porch build turned out well, it was adjusted from my concept to suit the build and cost more than the original estimate.
