Description of Work: Repaired very complicated leak that has been haunting us for many years. Turns out that there were multiple areas of entry. They didn't give up till it was found. Chris even called weeks later after a bad storm to check on us. Replaced the front door also.

Description of Work: We did not use this contractor for the following reasons. We had received several estimates when he came for the quote. He was very belittling and arogant through the whole meeting. He told us how the job should and would be done disregarding how we wanted it done or what our ideas were.

+ -1 moreThey have asked us to identify some of the parts such as the bathtub, shower and tile. They really good about not using an architect. They are really good about working with us and putting us in touch with people that we can work with to get ideas and suggestions. They previously remodeled our kitchen and it worked out so well. We have been happy with the process for the bathroom as well. We have two master bedroom suites that have all the fixtures in them. They are around 10x10 or 12x12. They have been real patient about waiting on us to make all these decisions. The general contractor is really good about needling us to let us know when they can fit us in. We really like this one foreman. He has been great with communication and giving us the perimeters. He is very friendly and checks back with us because we have procrastinated about making some of the decisions. He calls and emails. They do exactly what they say when they say they are doing to do it. We have recommended them to other people. Some of the subcontractors that they use have not been as reliable. We have had a little trouble with some of the painting contractors. He has listened and is not going to use some of them. The foreman has an eagle eye and has fixed some things. My husband has been very pleased and we would not ask them back for more work if we were not pleased.
Description of Work: We are in the process of getting an estimate from Mione Family Design for giving us some plans for remodeling two bathrooms.

+ 1 moreMione Family delivered, as promised. The job was started and finished on schedule, and all changes to the original plan were mutually agreed upon and reasonably priced. The project foreman, Steve Smith, was a dream come true. He is reliable, dependable, detail-oriented, flexible, and maintained great communication every day, even when no work was scheduled for the day. He offered suggestions about everything without being pushy, and seemed to take a genuine and personal interest in every aspect of the project. It was clear that his standards are high as he would not allow substandard work by anyone, including the subcontractors. And, he ensured that the job was nearly spotless at the end of each work day - a pleasant suprise to say the least! With the exception of the painter, all of the subcontractors used by Mione Family were dependable and skilled craftsmen. The painter seemed to be overbooked and understaffed, which resulted in delays in finishing and sloppy work, which Steve Smith fixed himself. The drywall work was nothing short of miraculous, and the carpentry, flooring, countertops, and electrical work were superb. In all, everyone was personable, conscientious, and reliable. As a result, we are planning to use Mione Family to remodel two 1960s bathrooms in the near future.
Description of Work: Mione Family redesigned 1/2 of a very large 1960 custom kitchen and remodeled/refinished the entire kitchen, pantry and laundry room areas. The job included tearing out custom-made, built-in cabinets, countertops, glued on formica backsplashes, wall appliances, flooring and a lot of moulding and trim. Dan Mione was very patient with us as we debated a multitude of options over the six months prior to starting the job. and with all the decisions that had to be made after the job started. Since we were completely gutting only half of the kitchen and just refinishing the other half, it was a challenge to "marry up" the two halves in a floorplan and design that made sense. Dan's job would have been much easier if we had been gutting the entire kitchen, but that was way out of our budget. He made a lot of suggestions that we might not otherwise have considered and in the end, the result is OUTSTANDING! We had put off doing the job for a number of years because we expected it to be a nightmare. Work performed included: installing new cabinets in half the kitchen; refinishing and repainting cabinets in the other half (no small feat); installing new countertops and flooring throughout the kitchen; repairing walls where formica had been glued on as backsplash and in other spots that were damaged; completely removing, relocating and replacing ceiling lighting and exhaust fans; removing electrical outlets and installing new ones; installing under cabinet lighting throughout; replacing all moulding and trim throughout, painting throughout, including the ceiling down a hallway; installing a new external door; and installing new appliances and sink/faucet.

It was frustrating trying to get someone to just call me back. It is a minor problem that does not change the quality of their work. I would use this company again in the future.

+ -1 moreAfter the designer drew up plans, then Mione gave a rough estimate of cost, which was far in excess of our available funds. When we told them we wanted them to reduce the cost, they responded--"we can do that; we can make this work." That was the last we heard from them. So, we cannot attest to the quality of work. We can only caution that they may not be as responsive as they should be.
Description of Work: We initially contacted Mione for kitchen remodeling. They did bring in a designer who drew up a wonderful plan.

+ -1 moreWhen roof was removed, rain came and flooded our 1st floor. we were to live in the home during remodel process. We moved to hotel for 10 weeks. (Insurance covered this loss, however the Mione's never appologized for this inconvenience. The miones completed a final walk thru on December 2, after receiving final payment in full they promised to complete a minor punch list and return in the spring for remaining excavating work, a total value of under 10,000. The Miones never returned. they received final payment December 2 and they did not return the next day to complete punch list. We called and attempted countless times to resolve the matter, reminding them that good word of mouth is much better than bad. Our experience up to this point was good. Inconvenient to live in a hotel, but we loved our home. (Still do what they did complete). In January and again February we asked them to complete punch list, no go they told us they are done with us. We asked about the landscaping and final grading, seeding of our lawn they said NO. We filed suit in civil court. And of course... they filed bankruptcy. They are still doing business. I would not recommend this company to anyone. It is very sad. Mr. Mione never would have run a business this way. If Ron were living we are confident that things would have ended on a very happy note. Chris and Dan Mione both ignored our calls. I would not do business with them. We later learned sadly that the sub's they used also were not paid. The Mione's throughout our build constantly increase the price bringing us change orders, which we would sign off on.

+ -1 moreWhen I first contacted the company, Dan Mione (part owner and in charge of estimates) made an appointment to come out the next day (a 40 minute trip from Harrisburg). He then called right away with an estimate and said he could have someone out to do the steps in a few days. I thought the estimate was high ($780 for 8 stairs), but I was under huge time restraints as the paper hanger and carpet man were due the following week. All went as planned and the stairs were installed quickly and well. I was pleased with the work, despite the high cost. I paid in full; however, a few days later I received an additional bill for $26. A bit petty, I thought. We had two steps which were not replaced and my husband felt they should also be "new", so I called Dan back to see if the remaining two steps could be fixed as well. I called on two consecutive days and left messages directly with someone in the office, but I never received a call back. I was disappointed that I did not hear from anyone. I have another large project in my home and I was thinking of hiring Mione Family, Inc. to do it, but I am not so sure now. Pros: excellent first encounter; extremely co-operative with time restraints; work done very well; neat, pleasant workers. Cons: quite high-priced, no follow-up, and additional charge.
Description of Work: Replaced eight stairs on front hall flight of stairs with new pine risers and treads. The steps were later carpeted, so they were left unfinished and ready to carpet.

+ 2 moreThey showed up on time, completed the work in a timely manner, and cleaned up when they were done. They capped the outside with aluminum. The inside was nicely framed with quarter round molding. The cleaned the windows before they left. They are also very courteous and professional and can be trusted in your home.
Description of Work: I have used the Mione Family for many projects around the house from window replacement, to bathroom remodeling, to installing windows and doors in a wall that did not have them. For this particular report, they replaced 4 old windows/storm windows with new vinyl replacement windows.
