Description of Work: I used H.L. Bowman before for a water heater installation in 2012 and was pleased with the service. I was less than thrilled this time. The man who did the estimate did not even generally itemize the cost quotes. When I called to ask how he arrived at the numbers, he said that he "stares at this stuff all day long and is pretty good at it." The same man failed to offer me the option of paying labor by the hour even though the quote might contain an over-estimate of labor costs. He said that he would reduce the hourly labor rate by a few dollars since I was a repeat customer. When the plumber showed up (after the estimator had called to move my appointment by a day which caused me to take an additional day off of work), the man who did the estimate had not written the work order correctly and therefore the plumber did not have the supplies he needed. He wrote the order for one job, not two jobs. When I showed the plumber the other job that was to be done, he informed me that I did not need to have the work done as the pipes were fine, despite the face that the estimator had not said a word about their condition. The plumber was friendly, courteous and honest and I was happy with him. I received a bill in the mail because the work order had been incorrect and they needed to write up a bill for the actual services provided. The bill failed to reflect the hourly labor discount that the estimator had said he would give me. I wrote a letter to H.L. Bowman expressing my displeasure with my experience and asked that they contact me to discuss my concerns, even though I was submitting payment with my letter. They never called me but they sure did cash my check. A discount or refund would have been nice, but the fact that they didn't even acknowledge my legitimate complaint even if they weren't going to refund me any money, is totally unprofessional. I will never use them again.

Description of Work: HL Bowman installed a new kitchen faucet, and a pressure release tank on our water heater. The technician that performed the work was professional, efficient, and friendly. He answered all of our questions in a way we could understand. After the work was completed and paid for, we received a check for an "over payment" which we were not even aware of, which speaks to the fact that they are an honest firm. We will definitely have them back for additional plumbing work!

Description of Work: They were a pleasure to work with and I was quite happy with my experience with HL Bowman. Being a new homeowner I started what I thought was going to be a simple DIY toilet repair job and got in over my head. The tech was on time and very courteous, which I was thankful for. The HL Bowman team will be my go to plumbers in the future.
