Enviroquest - Home Inspections and Radon Service

The service was excellent. The guy was willing to walk the buyer through our place and explain everything in detail. I was really impressed.

Enviroquest was very responsive and communicated well throughout the process of installing a radon mitigation system. They sent somebody out for an estimate and was very informative and attentive to my concerns about placement and installation. The day of the install the two techs got the job done in half a day and were able to install it exactly where I wanted in the unfinished portion of the basement, the install looks very professional and they explained the entire system to me. I have already recommended them to a few friends and am glad I went with them. They were also the cheapest of the three estimates we received. Thanks again!

It was our first time and only time we used them. They are only few groups in the area who did it only two or three others they are reasonably close by and I had gone on Angie's list and they had received decent reviews I believe and I called them they came out and did out. We didn't have any issues with them they came out and got the job done. I think there was an issue with the billing afterwards, but I would recommend them. There was essentially next to no radon in our home when they were done.

Enviroquest did a house inspection for us on the above-stated date. They did such a poor job that the problems we discovered on the roof and inside the house when we moved into the house cost us hundreds of dollars and they are likely to cost us thousands more. The main problem was the gaping hole where the chimney connected to the roof. Because of this gap apparently water had leaked to the foundation of the house (who knows for how long) and caused damages behind the walls of next to the fire place. We found out about the problem gradually, first after we hired someone who painted the house (he told us about the rotten materials he discovered behind the walls) and then when the gutter person we hired told us about the hole on the roof. The gutter person told us that "he could not believe that any inspector would miss the gap." Then we hired a roofer to fix the gap. The roofer told us that actually there were many other problems on the roof that would cost us additional thousands of dollars. After I earned about these problems, I wrote to Enviroquest on September 23, 2014. I told them about my disappointment and asked for reimbursement for the initial part of the roof repairs, which occurred because of their incompetent inspection. (I did not even mention the thousands of dollars that we would have to pay for the rest of the repairs.) I attached copies of their inspection report, the report of the roofer, and the pictures the roofer took. There was no response. I sent another letter to them on February 2, 2015. After this letter, the owner of the company called me and told me that they had emailed me after the first letter (maybe they did, but I did not receive, and certainly they did not send me anything in the mail) and he offered me to reimburse the amount we had paid for the inspection. I did not agree and insisted that they had to pay for the repairs on the roof instead. He told me that either he or the inspector would call me back in a few days. They never did. Instead, they sent a letter (dated February 27, 2015) rejecting all our claims and stating that they did the inspection job properly. They also insinuated that we contacted them long after the inspection and hinted that perhaps we were negligent somehow. I want Angie's List members know about this company. If you do not mind to have an incompetent inspection done on the house you want to buy and if you do not mind wasting perhaps thousands of dollars because of a faulty inspection, Enviroquest should be your choice. I hired other house inspectors for the other houses I bought in the past and I never experienced such an incompetent inspection. I also resent that Enviroquest wanted to abuse my patience in waiting for them to response by insinuating that I was negligent and was wrongfully accusing them. G. Morcol

Ray was the inspector. He was prompt (was actually there before I arrived), professional, knowledgeable, engaging and a real pleasure to work with. He didn't just take notes and pics but explained everything he was looking at and why. He was also very thorough, we covered every inch of the house, from little things like window locks to big items like the furnace and roof. He actually went onto the roof (2 stories) and found major issues, and crawled up into the attic space to check for leaks, electrical issues and insulation. This is my first time buying a house and going through this process and I'm glad I chose enviroquest. The whole experience was informative and fun and I would recommend this company to anyone.

Ray did my home inspection. He was punctual, professional, and very knowledgeable. Also, he was very patient with my questions and explained thoroughly what he was looking for and what he saw. Definitely would recommend!

He did an excellent job. Ray was the guy who came out. He did a really great job. He went over and above looking at everything in terms of the tiniest things. We are really pleased. I think their price was to measure at what everybody was charging, it was inline.

Ray was right on time for the inspection. He was very professional and extremely helpful. He took us around the house and showed us how certain things worked. He was very thorough. We would definitely recommend this company to someone in the future!

Our inspector was John. This was our first home-buying experience, and he walked through every detail of the house with us. He was clear and concise, and made sure we understood every single issue, from the minor, easily fixed ones (missing plate on an electrical outlet), to the major expense one (the roof). He has worked with our realtor with the couple of issues with our VA loan processing. I would definitely call Enviroquest for any future inspection needs.

Ray from Enviroquest showed up right on time and was wonderful. We are first time home buyers and know nothing about the process. He took all the time we needed to go over every little detail and answered all of our questions. He was extremely thorough and knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. He also made himself available by email and phone after the inspection if we had any questions. The inspection was ready for us that evening. Having him there really put us at ease and we would be very happy to recommend him and use him and Enviroquest again in the future.

It was very easy to set up the appointment. They quoted a price which was exactly what I paid. The work was completed to my satisfaction.

They were willing to travel outside Harrisburg in questionable winter weather conditions. I was impressed with their professionalism, punctuality, and documentation. Ray spent 3 hours inspecting the house, answered all of our questions, and provided us with a detailed written report. I would definitely recommend this business. My only disappointment was that we did not receive their radon mitigation estimate with the test results. Because of this delay, the seller chose another company to mitigate, even though Enviroquest offered a more competitive rate.

He did a great job and took time to point out some very important items and made sure we understood what was going on. He's very thorough and professional, but he's also a really nice guy and we could have talked all day if we had the time. I called him with a question later on and he was great about helping me with what we needed at that time as well. Shannon from their office has been great also.

As first time home buyers, the inspection was very important as the sale was an estate sale & the sellers didn't disclose any information. We walked through with Ray as he did the inspection and he explained everything to us so we could understand what he was looking at. He did a great job of telling us things that would need to be fixed and also offered his personal opinion on how to fix some things. He was even able to get on the roof although it was snow covered. Ray did a fabulous job of answering any and all questions we had...no matter how mundane. The inspection report was emailed to us (with pictures) that evening and very easy to understand. Everything we talked about during the inspection was in the report. I would highly recommend Ray & Enviroquest as we couldn't have asked for a better first time home buying inspection!

Ray arrived on time and got started immediately. He was very professional and friendly, and worked his way through the entire house from the outside to the inside. I was able to accompany him during the entire visit, which lasted three hours. He took detailed notes, including pictures, and took the time to explain various findings and answer any questions or concerns I had. I received the report the next day, it was easy to read and understand. I would definitely use Enviroquest again and highly recommend them for home inspections.

Our new house had been vacant for a year and thus contracted a very high level of radon. Enviroquest was able to come out the day after we closed on the house and installed a system within a few hours. The system is very clean looking and they easily explained how it worked to me and charged us the exact price they quoted.

Ray Remsnyder showed up on time and was very thorough. We spent about 3 hours going through the house and he even took time to go over things like changing air filters and other details that a first-time home buyer would not have known. He was very kind and professional and the report was filed the next day. If I end up getting my basement fixed for the high level of radon, I will definitely use this company again!

We called and the owner set up a date for the estimate. He arrived as scheduled and walked us through what he proposed to do. He e-mailed his quote after returning to his office. It was competitive and we got a good feeling for their work. We accepted the quote and set up a date for the work to be done. The technician showed up on time and completed the job in several hours. He left a test kit for us to use within the month to insure that the radon level was down. If not, we have a full guarantee that they will come back and keep working to remove the radon. Overall, a great company to work with.

inspection which I did The date and time was set by calling Mr. Staz at Enviroquest. Mr. Staz arrived at the appointed time. He spent several hours doing a very thorough in depth inspection of the entire house from the attic to the cellar. It was obvious that He was an expert at what He does.. Nothing was missed from electrical to plumbing to HVAC. I was welcome to accompany Mr. Staz on the inspection and I did and it was very interesting. He has a very engaging personality. I would recommend Mr Staz and His company to anyone.

Ray, their home inspector, was prompt and did a really great job of walking through the inspection with us. He explained everything he was looking at and what work may have to be done. He provided the report quickly and the water inspection came back quickly too. While we did not buy the home due to things that were found on the inspections we were very happy with this company and with Ray. We would not hesitate to use them again.

I initially contacted Enviroquest after reviewing radon mitigation contractors on Angie's List. It appeared that sometimes there was no need to have the contractor visit the home prior to the day of installation. Because of some specific issues, I requested someone to come out to address my concerns and to review options. John Staz from Enviroquest came out and we discussed options and made a decision as to how to move forward. John was very nice and professional. After they sent me some additonal information via e-mail, I called back and scheduled the work with Tonya the person in the office. She was very nice and professional as well. Tonya sent me a reminder e-mail a couple of days prior to the scheduled date. Jeremy the installer, arrived on 6/28 right on time. He was very nice and professional as well, and we discussed how he would be doing the installation. He indicated that it would take approximately 4 hours. He did the job by himself, cleaned up, and explained what was done and how things worked. The job was very neatly done. Jeremy did the work in the time he had estimated. He started around 8:00 A.M. and was done around noon. We are very satisfied with the professionalism and attitude of all of the folks we encountered from Enviroquest. We would highly recommend them to others that may be interested in radon mitigation.

Enviroquest noted some other things that weren't right, like the way the air was coming in, so I needed to get that fixed. So they came back and they finished it in a day. When we retested, the radon was very low. Our home is a little special. We had a lot of dirt floors and stuff, so it wasn't easy to correct it, but they did. It was drastically low. It's a 1.9 and before it was 40. The price was competitive. We had gotten other estimates, and the prices were all pretty much the same.

Contacted several home inspection companies, Enviroquest was one of only a few that could satisfy the date we wanted and at the best price. Their representative showed up on time and proceeded to walk us through the process and explained how things worked whenever I had a question. Final report was in detail and when I called to question one entry, it was explained promptly and to my satisfaction.
