Description of Work: Helped me with my desk top computer as well as my new tablet. Rick realized that my computer was running very slowly. He had me contact Comcast. The service technician had made several major mistakes when he rushed to install the Comcast equipment. If it had not been for Rick from PrintersnPCs, I would never have realized anything was wrong. Rick is absolutely the very best with all types of computer updates, problem solving etc. He was even able to help me with my Kindle. I would very highly recommend Rick to anyone! He is a very honest reliable gentleman. He is worth every penny. He does everything correctly the first time.

This is a sort of difficult review because Rick asked me at the end of his service call (after I wrote the check) if I was satisfied with the service I received and would I write a review on Angie's list (which is where I found him). I knew at that time that there was something bugging me but wasn't sure exactly what until I had some time to think about it. So, after thinking about what was bugging me, I figured out what it was, namely, I was disappointed that it took an hour and a half for the solution to my problem to be told to me when an alternative solution was obvious to him (but not to me) in the first ten minutes. Namely, if Internet explorer is causing the error, don't use explorer, use Chrome instead. That's the short story. The long story, sort of; I called Aurands computer repair because I could not attach documents to my e-mail. I engaged Aurand's computer service since they make house calls and I really wasn't in the mood to drop my netbook off so a service center could keep it indefinitely. When I called the service the phone was immediately answered and the woman that answered the phone was extremely helpful. She arranged for a service call within an hour. When Rick arrived I showed him the error message I received every time I tried to attach a document. He told me right away that it was an Internet Explorer problem. I'm thinking, okay, fix it. As he worked on the netbook I explained to him that it wasn't a very often used piece of equipment since I have other desktop and laptop computers that do most of my work, but that I really needed to be able to attach the documents that were on that particular piece of equipment. He continued to work on the netbook. I began checking the clock after 40 minutes wondering what was taking so long. He continued to work on the netbook. Finally, after an hour and a half, he asked me to try it again. I did, and it still wouldn't attach the document. So he said since it was an internet explorer issue to try Google Chrome instead. I did try Chrome, and it worked. He could have just told me that from the beginning! Apparently during that previous hour and one/half, he " cleaned" the registry, searched for viruses, etc. and when he presented the bill, he made a big deal about "fixing" 2800+ registry errors. I know enough about computers to know that while registry errors are a pain they are a simple fix with the right tools, plus, I've been to enough sales associate trainings to not be impressed with the number being thrown around as though it was a bit deal. All I know is that whatever he did during that 1.75 hour service call didn't fix the problem. But, yes, it does run a bit faster HOWEVER had he told me, 15 minutes into his visit that all I needed to do was use "Chrome" to attach my documents, and then asked if I wanted him to search for why Explorer won't, or would I like him to clean m netbook since he was on site, I could have made a more informed decision and no, I probably wouldn't have paid $122 just to make this very limited, relatively inexpensive, piece of equipment run a few seconds faster but, maybe I would have, not really sure but I know I would have asked, in advance, what it would have cost. Ultimately, however, since I did engage the service, and since he came over within the hour, and since I did not have to leave my home, and as a result of his suggestion to use Chrome, I am now able to attach documents, I would rate it over all a satisfactory service call that just cost more than it should have (but probably not any more than it would have at any other service center). I doubt however, I'd use them again.
Description of Work: Provider "cleaned" up errors on my netbook and recommended I use a different search engine.

When the error message came up, It kept indicating it was an IE error. That is all I knew at the time and IE is directly related to Internet Explorer. I explained this to the customer and I also explained thatI didn't know WHY the error kept coming up and was going to try to resolve the issue. Tried installing updates, re-installing IE and cleaning up the registry to hopefully allieviate the issue. After doing all that, I had the customer try attaching documents again and continued to have the same issue. So I had her try using Google Chrome and that seemed to work. When departing, we ask all our customers if they were satisfied with our service, (Angie's List customers we ask them to please write a review for us) reason being is so we can better improve our services to our customers.

We not only looked at her printers (2 of them) but also fixed issues with her computer. Both printers were inkjets and the cost to fix the one was more thn the cost of the printer itself, that is why we recommended purchasing a new printer instead of spending the money to fix the current one she had. All computer issues were resolved.

I had a great experience with this company. I love the fact that the work was done in my home. No packing up the computer and returning days later for pick up. The service was quick, professional, and convenient. Rick did an awesome job of narrowing down the computers problems and fixing the glitches. Now thankfully I again have access to all my files and programs. I was very pleased and recommend them to anyone in need of computer service.

I called Rick on a Monday morning, dropped off the laptop (although he was willing to pick it up), Rick discovered the problem, backed up the files, had me order a disc of the operating system ( it took less than 24 hours to get the discs), I dropped off the discs, Rick installed them, met with me and I had the computer back by Saturday. It would have been faster, but I was unable to meet sooner than Saturday.
Description of Work: Rick is a skilled and competent computer professional. He quickly identified the problem with my laptop computer and guided us in gathering the needed discs to restore the operating system. He worked quickly, responded quickly to calls and overall completed everything needed in 2 1/2 billed hours. I was very happy with the time billed and believe that this was reasonable. The hourly fee was a little higher than I was expecting. He was easy to work with, has the customer's best interest in mind, is friendly and enjoys teaching the customer how to prevent future computer problems. I will definitely call on Rick again for assistance when I have laptop or desk top computer needs.
