I received a call prior to the arrival of the technician to let me know he was on his way. The caller provided the name of the technician. The technician, Angel, arrived on time. He was very professional. He placed booties over his shoes so as not to mess the floors. He was courteous and knowledgeable about the work I was to have done. He replaced the inner parts of 2 toilets.

We were having problems with two leaks in the ceiling from the plumbing to the bathroom above the kitchen, and had not been able to reach our neighborhood plumber in the preceeding weeks. My husband had already opened up a portion of the ceiling in both locations to identify the main sources of leaking, and he had directed the leaks into two buckets on the floor of the kitchen, so it was not an emergency. On the other hand, after living with the leaks for a month, we were ready to get them fixed, so we called Lowry Services Electric Plumbing Heating and Cooling. The Lowry serviceman that I spoke with was polite over the phone. Although we were prepared to wait a few days to have them come out, he insisted on coming out to get the job done the next day, which was Saturday (during the Memorial Day weekend). He arrived promptly at the designated time, together with a helper, and they proceeded to work in a professional mannor. They replaced the two 8 or 10 inch sections of leaking copper pipe, fixing both leaks. In addition, they identified a third smaller leak that was beginning in a nearby section of pipe above the cabinets. They needed to open up another portion of the ceiling above the cabinets in order to access and repair the leak, as it was in a location that was difficult to reach. Although it was difficult to get to, they replace a third 8 or 10-inch section of copper pipe, fixing the third leak before it damaged our cabinets below. Their work was high quality. Our only complaint was the price, which was much more than we expected to pay. Although I neglected to mention to them that we were elegible for an Angie's List discount, he did discount his fee by 10 percent, even though (he let us know) they came out to fix our plumbing issue during the holiday weekend. Like I said, this was not an emergency call. Overall, they did an excellent job, they were polite and professional, and they cleaned up after themselves. However, we thought that the price was high, so we would hesitate to use their services again.
Description of Work: We had two plumbing leaks from copper pipes in the ceiling above our kitchen. Because our well water is acidic, it is beginning to erode pinholes in the 30+ year old pipes in the ceiling. The servicemen from Lowry's replaced two 8-10 inch sections of the copper to repair the two leaks. In addition, the servicemen identified a third smaller leak that we were not previously aware of. The leak was in a difficult to reach location, above the kitchen cabinets, but they replaced another 8-10 inch section of copper here also, repairing the third leak and preventing damage to our cabinets.

He arrived right on time. There was some confusion at first because I thought the deal was that he would do two hours of work for 199.00 but he said it was for 199.00 off for work he performed. i was less than satisfied with this but went ahead with it because the work needed doing and it would otherwise be a complete waste of time. Also, obviously, I had already paid for the "deal'. He worked very quickly. The two jobs he completed--running the ground wire and replacing the plate in switcher box--were satisfactory. However, the switcher box bar was not replaced. He just put another one in beside the old one and moved the contacts. It doesn't look good, but I guess it works. Otherwise, he was quite professional, polite and informative. However, he did express dissatisfaction with how much he was expected to do for the compensation provided.
Description of Work: He put in a new contact bar in my switcher box, he removed the lighting fixture from a ceiling fan, he helped seal a leak from outside, and he ran a ground wire over the water meter.

I believe that the big deal that I bought specified a whole house inspection and one and half hour of work and when he finished the inspection he had a list of $450 worth of work which needed to be done. I gave him the approval to do two things that I thought were pretty much important to get done which he did in a matter of eighteen minutes. Then I wrote him a check for it and then after he left I went in and looked at the big deal and I saw the terms and it was only half an hour of work for what I paid for. I wrote a letter to the company and the owner called me back and he apologized and said that it was his first time being on Angie’s list and that he didn’t understand fully what he was agreeing to and would I’d be satisfied if he sent somebody back out to do the other two items on the list. I wasn’t really satisfied but I didn’t want to argue. The price was high because quite many technicians what they do now is that they have a booked price and it doesn’t matter how long they take to do it. He took eighteen minutes and charged what his booked price sells for it and that’s the way people do business but I don’t like it. In terms of responsiveness he came right out and he was on time.

I called this company to repair our heat pump in the hot summer days. It was a Saturday and they assured me they could come that day. I waited four hours and still did not hear from them. I called back at noon to be sure they were still coming or to see if I needed to line up a more professional contractor. They responded by saying they were now not coming. I was upset they they weren't curtious enough to call and I now had to scramble to line up another contractor on a Saturday afternoon. I would not recommend this contractor.

I know from personal experience just how awful a house without AC feels when it's 100 F outside. I want to offer our apologies that we were unable to assist you on Saturday, July 7th. I looked into the matter to determine what exactly happened--and unfortuntely it appears that there was a breakdown in our communication. . We received an emailed message from our answering service at 8:16am saying that you had called about your heat pump not working and asking us to call you back to schedule an appointment. When the office is open,all calls ring directly in the office. If no one is able to answer the call because they are speaking with another customer, the call goes to our answering service (so we don't miss calls). The answering service takes messages and emails them to the office so that the Lowry CSR'(s) can return call and schedule the appointment for the customer. Sometimes customers believe that they are speaking with a Lowry CSR-when they are really leaving a message with our answering service. The CSR on duty in the office (there is only 1 on a Saturday) called you back and left a message returning your call at 9:39am. If the CSR had been able to speak with you at 9:39am-we would have told you that we were unable to guaruntee AC service for Saturday July 7th. I am sorry that we were unable to provide service to you on the hottest day of the year..There was no ill will intended on our part. For the future,we will review our answering service prodedures to make sure that customers understand that they are leaving a message. I would Like to make it up to you at any time with a 10% discount on any HVAC work. I will be happy to set up an appointment for- please call me directly-Lindsey @ 215-412-5624. I purchased an Angies List 'deal' for $200 of electrical work by Lowry Services. Prior to Lowry Services coming out, I obtained an estimate from another highly rated Angie's List licensed electrician for the same services. While I did not anticipate any problem, I wanted a baseline to assess the Lowry Services costs. I'm glad I did. The other provider and Lowry Services came out within 5 days of each other. I needed two electrical services, the first an extension of a 15amp circuit with installation of a new outlet. The estimate I received from the other Angie's List provider for this complete service was $202. Lowry Services' price for the exact same service was $454!!! More than 225% higher!! When I reacted in shock, and actually showed the Lowry's electrician the other estimate (with the company's name blocked), I was offered a reduction of $112, bringing the cost down to $342, and so after deducting the $200 I had already purchased, Lowry's wanted an ADDITIONAL $142.00 on top of that! The second service I wanted was installation of a light in a coat closet. The other Angie's List provider quoted $199 for this service, including the fixture. Lowry Services wanted $515 for the same service, NOT inc luding the fixture!! This was more than 250% higher!! The Lowry electrician, who was very nice and understanding was extremely apologetic. He even called his headquarters, reached a manager above him, and with my other estimate in front of him explained the situation to the manager. The manager's response: have the customer contact Angie's List and get a refund for the purchase of the 'deal'. He made no attempt to satisfy. While I feel the electrician himself was 'professional', I certainly wouldn't say the same for Lowry Services the company. I feel badly for anyone else who purchased this 'deal' and did not get another estimate first. In this situation, I guess that this is clearly a case of "buyer beware".

They did an excellent job. The technician that came out went above and beyond, and I was very happy with what he did for me. However, I had some other electrical problems after they left, and they didn't want to do anything about it. They were difficult to communicate with, and were not very accommodating. I eventually decided to have someone else resolve my problem.

Aric (the service tech and I am spelling his name correctly), who was very knowledgeable, listened to us when we explained what our issues were. He was very kind to my elderly father in law and spoke slower and louder so that he could understand better what was going on. He changed the thermostat that was difficult for my father in law to understand with one that was very easy to use. (This made my father in law very happy) On inspection of the A.C. unit, he noted that there was a problem with the contacts (? I am possibly not using the right term for the part, but Aric DID explain everything about it). He said that the part could last another year, or another week, but it is an essential part of the A.C. unit and if it malfunctioned, it could lead to a costly repair. But, he didn't do a hard sell on it, and repeated the problem repeatedly, so that everyone understood. We opted to get the part replaced anticipating a difficult summer. After all the work was completed, my husband inquired about service plans which Aric again patiently explained the cost, the benefits and the savings. We were again impressed by Aric's knowledge of his company, different service plans and his willingness to spend a good deal of time explaining things and answering questions. I HIGHLY recommend Lowry Services to anyone needing plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, and Electrical services. If the other service personnel are as professional and personable as Aric, you will certainly have a positive experience.

Service tech arrived at the end of the scheduled time and was courteous and professional. However after the inspection it was suggested that several items were needed. Replacement parts and labor ranged from $75 to $760 depending on which items were to be replaced or added. I settled for a replacement of a combination of parts (electrical capacitor) at $260.00. After that part was replaced, the air conditioning motor didn't work and I suspected that he was going to hit me up for a new motor. I questioned that it was working before he started and he finally got it working. I wondered whether he would have insisted that to motor needed to be replaced had I not been more observant. I'm sure he he turned it on before he started working on it and it was working. I couldn't say for sure whether I really would have needed and new motor which made me suspicious and to whether the $260 part had to be replaced. I just don't know if all was on the up-and-up. Maybe I've seen to many conspiracy movies :)

See above for all the information. Everything went well and I am very satisfied with how the work was done, how the bathroom was left and how Mike DeCicco spent the time to carefully explain all the options. He not only removed the huge toilet down 2 flights of stairs (inside and then outside) but also gave me exact specifications to purchase a replacement. He left the bathroom spotless and he was very careful and methodical in his work. He was also courteous and informative. He advised me what my options were and said he was willing for me to call him at any time to come back and install the new toilet after I purchased it on my own (my wish to save money). He didn't pressure me into anything and was very methodical in his work and presentation. He listened and answered all my questions and carefully wrote down everything for me to remember. I am very pleased with the excellent service.
Description of Work: On April 26th, Mike DeCicco of Lowry Services promptly called first before coming and then came right away to my house to fix a leaking toilet. He was courteous and responsive. He went to work right away and after examining the situation, he came downstairs and went through various options. He was very patient and explained the situation very clearly to me in layman's terms and was very responsive, answering all my questions and concerns. He also spelled out possible costs of each option. He then asked me if I wanted him to remove the toilet which was huge. THen he carried the item down the stairs inside and down the stairs outside into his truck. He left the bathroom immaculate after his work. He then said that he could get me a toilet or I could get one. I said I was unemployed and needed to keep the price down; however, I wanted to have a product that would last for many years and be good quality. He then gave me exact measurements of item needed and suggested 2 brands he trusted that were good models for my small bathroom. If I needed additional work, he would be happy to come back when I called to install it. Then he listed the cost of the services beyond the Angie's 2 hour deal.He not only provided excellent service but satisfied me as a customer looking for quality work at reasonable cost. Also they live up to their motto of "you approve the price before we start the work" and that means this is a reliable and reputable company in my book. I would give LOWRY Services an A+++ rating on all measures. I would also definitely give them an unqualified recommendation for the excellent work and the manner which it was done.

I am very surprised at the good responses for this company. I was very impressed with the technician who came in his professionalism but i was also very confused. I had gotten a couple estimates for doing this job ranging from $250- 300. So when i purchased a offer for approx 60 for 2 hrs work worth $200..i thought i wouldn't have to pay a whole lot to get the job done. I even talked to one of the girls at the office who estimated that it would cost me little if anything to get it done by her estimation. Upon the man coming he looked at the situation did say it wasn't complicatted and then wrote out an estimate for $826.00 minus $200 Angie's list offer and minus 10% discount ..tottaling $564.00 in total.. way above anything i've heard of. Also he was going on about a membership to the company for discounts and rapid service.. well it's the first time in my life i ever heard of a plan for a plumber and shouldn't they put things at a priortiy or best time possible without have a subscription.. they gave me a folder and papers which shoed the plans from $99 etc. he DID say my membership is free...again confusing to me..why show a plan if it's free im sure it's tied into the exorbitant price they suggested for doing th work. Again..unless somethings wrong here i would never recommend them and in fact i will contact angie's list for a refund as they came did nothing (another strange thing he checked for any problems quickly throuout the house..i dont know if this uses up the amount i paid from angies list by his doing a once over) but i will be contacting Angie's list for a refund on my $$ for this deal.. Lastly, i called the company about my unhappiness someone said the would talk to a supervisor and get back to me.. of couse it's a week and have not heard from anyone.

The repair man came - I was already told his name so that helped me feel a little safer. He came in, looked over the job, pushed a button and viola .... all was fine. I then showed him the outside box and he fixed it when we agreed to the prices.
Description of Work: He came to fix the outlet in my garage - turns out the Ground Fault circuit was stuck and once he pushed the button everything worked great! (Figures) But while he was here, he gave me a deal to reattach the box for my electric box outside my house - it was about to fall off the outside of the house.

Technician arrived on time which was important as I didn't have to take an entire day of work off to wait for him. He seemed very professional and knowledgeable. The technician could not guarantee that replacing the two receptacles would solve our problem. He didn't want to proceed with any major diagnostics until he was sure that the problem wasn't those two receptacles as it would require drilling/cutting through walls to check the wiring. This could be expensive and messy. He said if the problem persisted we could call Lowry again to do some further exploration. The problem has persisted, but we have just decided to plug the phone and television set into another area in the first floor. I was somewhat relieved to know that there were no major problems found with the home's electrical system considering the major flood damage sustained last year.
Description of Work: Lowry Services was called to check several receptacles as the first floor of my home sustained major flooding last August and September. We had been having difficulty with the television set and telephone, and determined it was not the cable, but possibly an electrical problem. Technician replaced two receptacles, checked the other receptacles, GFIs, and main circuit breaker panel He provided me with a copy of an Electrical Safety Inspection Checklist. As we walked around the house, he made various recommendations of things that should be done to improve the safety and electrical system in the home.

I purchased an Angie's List big deal, for $49 for $200 worth of electric or plumbing services. I was later made aware that this was an either/or scenario (I would have liked a look at both plumbing and electrical work), so I chose electric work, which was my primary concern. Mike E. was my service technician. He was very friendly and courteous, and put on some work booties over his shoes before entering, which I appreciated a lot. I explained my two major concerns: lights switching on and of haphazardly, and mysterious switches that turned on nothing. Mike investigated all the outlets and we eventually determined the cause of the problems: the wrong types of bulbs for some recessed lighting causing overheating, and an uninstalled light fixture that was still wired. Mike fixed the problems easily, performed an inspection of the majority of my devices, and checked my meter and electric box. Nothing about this service was unplanned, and everything went right on schedule.
Description of Work: 30 point electrical inspection of house deactivated live switches that no longer controlled devices tightened screws on electric panel
