+ 1 morePoor. They refused to stand by their customers and honor the service that was provided to us. Had they chosen to stand by us, they would have sold us a new furnace.
Description of Work: We called the number for Bollinger who installed the new aluminum chimney on our furnace and discovered that Lowry purchased Bollinger. While not in itself a deal breaker, we explained that Bollinger installed the chimney and I was immediately transferred to a manager who said they would not stand by the work done by Bollinger (even recent work). This new information, that they would not sstand by their customers, was a deal breaker. I made an appointment with them but later cancelled it because I felt that they should have stood by the work performed for the customers by Bollinger. We chose another contractor instead who we were very pleased with and decided to purchase a brand new furnace from Flores Air Conditioning who were very professional and their reputation has spread by word of mouth. I am glad to see their hard work and good service has made it to Angie's list. Please see my positive review for Flores Air Conditioning.

+ 0 moreThe work went well. The man from Lowry services was very easy to work with and was generous with his time. He was able to do all that I asked him to do without hesitation.
Description of Work: Repair of plant lights cart. Replacemenht of outlet plugs - 2 pins to 3 pins. Safety Inspection of whole house. Replaced faulty fuse. Added cold water ground. The original Angie's list deal was I paid $49 for $249 worth of electrical work. The extra costs were for all of the equipment needed to do all of the work.

+ -1 moreFor the $49.00, it was worth it but it would not be for the $249 full price. At least 15 minutes were taken up, giving me the sales pitch for future work. He was definitely professional and courteous and certainly I can't fault him for trying to get more work. He did a full house inspection and as I had recently had an electrician out to revamp the house, found nothing wrong.
Description of Work: I had 3 items that would only take about an hour for an experienced electrician to perform. Because I was concerned that it would take over an hour due to the fact that he was selling future work for a portion of that hour, I only had him do the 2 most important to me. I had 3 outlets to make sure that they were grounded and a light fixture that that had stopped working that needed fixing. Both of which were corrected.

Description of Work: The Lowry technician performed a complete pre-season furnace check. In addition, contrary to other companies who performed the pre-season check in the past, the technician changed the furnace air filter as well as the humidifier filter, a task I routinely perform myself following the pre-season checks. In addition, the technician recommended installing a carbon monoxide monitor. This was something I kept forgetting to do since my old monitor "died". I appreciated his bringing this important safety feature to my attention. I purchased the monitor from him (although I did not feel any obligation to do so - it was solely a matter of convenience on my part). The technician installed the monitor after thoroughly reviewing the instructions with me.

+ 0 moreHeating system Inspection went well without incident, though I did get the impression that the technician was on the lookout for additional work. Plumbing job went well, though it was a relatively simple job for a master plumber. Was very disappointed in the pricing as Lowry seems to price based on a standard job cost book, without any regard for the time spent on the job or the materials used. Found out that Lowry is an experienced electrical contractor, who only recently has expanded into plumbing and HVAC. Their staff is therefore limited in quantity and depth, and may be one factor in their pricing strategy. Fortunately, I had one of their master plumbers attend, thus the good quality of work.
Description of Work: Performed a preseason inspection of my heating system per the Angie's List Big Deal. During a separate visit, reroute sink drain for a new garbage disposal in the kitchen.

+ -1 moreI had an Angie's List coupon for hose bib replacement. When I called, an actual person answered the phone! And even though I didn't have an emergency, she scheduled the work for the very next day. The guy arrived exactly on time and worked very quickly. He offered me a whole-house plumbing inspection (which I didn't feel I needed) and gave me a brochure on their services. All in all, a level of professional attention and service that you don't find very often.
Description of Work: They replaced an outdoor hose bib.

Since we had movedappreciated house, we really appreciated, that he took the time to explain what he was doing as he moved from one phase of the inspection to the next. We were particularly appreciative that he took a few minutes to make sure we understood the proper operation of the thermostat and how a two stage furnace operates.
Description of Work: This company offered a "Big Deal" for a fall heating system tune up,, which included such things as inspection of burners, pilot and burner assembly, switches, blower wheel, flame color, duct inspection et. el.

+ -1 moreLowry's came right out when they said that they would. I had an Angie's List deal to install an outdoor faucet. However, there were problems with my indoor plumbing lines. Lowry was right up front about that. They gave us a fair and complete estimate to do both the indoor and the outdoor work. The money was not in our budget at the time so we decided not to go ahead with the job. Lowry was great about telling us how to go about refunding the money for the deal. All in all, we plan to hire Lowry when we do get the work done.
Description of Work: Lowry didn't do the service through no fault of their own.

+ -1 moreService was prompt and efficient, however the price was outrageous; more than double what our usual plumber quoted. We took advantage of the Angie's List deal as it looked really good and our usual plumber was not available. If the $$ off as offered in the Angie's List deal were taken into account, we thought we were going to come out at the same price, within 5 or 10 dollars, but when presented with the bill, it was for far more than we would have ever expected to pay for such a small job. All in, after parts and materials, we paid more than $400 per hour for one guy. I will never go near these people again!
Description of Work: We needed a water supply installed to our new freezer and the old line to our old freezer removed. The new line was a run of 5 feet from source in the base ment to the new freezer directly overhead, through open spaces all the way. No "fishing" of any sort was required.

Description of Work: Furnace check up seemed to be somewhat cursory. Filter was "banged out" instead of cleaned or replaced. Was told that the heater should last through the winter. I asked about the unit outside and was told that was only for AC -- not sure that was correct. Currently, only cold air is blowing through my vents.

+ 0 moreI bought a Big Deal in March 2012 for a plumbing/electrical service call and 1 hour of labor for $49, but didn't use it until November, when my shower drain was running slow. Lowry gave me an appointment within 2 days of my call and someone called this morning to let me know approximately when the tech would arrive in the 4-hour window. We did have a misunderstanding about the terms of the Big Deal, but the tech called the manager and we worked it out to my satisfaction. The tech, Donte, was polite and pleasant (and covered his shoes on my light-colored carpet) and he got the drain cleared quickly, well within the 1-hour term of the Big Deal. Overall, a positive experience!

+ -1 moreThis was my first experience with them through an Angie's List Big Deal. The technician did a thorough inspection of my 24 year old furnace. He discovered the heat exchanger had lots of rust and many small cracks. Although there was no CO leakage, he explained that the heater was unsafe and should be replaced and was not worth a repair due to its age. Some further research of my own confirmed this. I would use them again for a heater inspection but would was unhappy with a subsequent estimate for a new heater. I found the sales rep to be pushy and the price was not the greatest.
