Lowry Services

Everything went well and smooth, from the scheduling to the work. The plumber sent out to us even took the time to educate me about where in my house we need to shut off the water next year when it starts to get cold. It was not an easy spot to find so this information was helpful.

The first time we used Lowry was in 2011, for what was supposed to be an Air Conditioning service/tune-up. We knew one of the outdoor units was in bad shape because it was making noise, and as it tuned out, the entire system was shot and needed to be replaced (we have a 3000+ square foot home with two outside units, one was basically dead, the other was soon to be). They gave us a fair price, and completed the work quickly. The service man was very pleasant, professional, and neat. No complaints at all about this service, so we didn't hesitate to get the second package from Angie's List ot have some electrical work done. The second service was not so good. Lowry called in advance to ask what type of service we needed (the central office is very responsive, calls back quickly, etc.). We told them we had 3 things to do: 1) repair a GFI in the basement that was tripping; 2) install a main interrupt switch and wiring for our generator; and 3) provide an estimate to have the wiring needed for an upcoming above ground pool installation. The technician who came had no ideal how to do a main interrupt, nor did he know anything about wiring requirements for the above ground pool. He was able to fix the GFI, barely. Lowry sent out a second technician to give us estimates for the generator and pool wiring. Their estimates were astronomical, about 2X what we ended up paying the other electricians we hired. So, they get a mixed review. They seem good for big projects, like the AC installation, but the second technician we saw was not very knowlegeable.

Everything went great.. From appt time to time of service. The plumber even went the extra mile and stepped out to pick up a "better" faucet for our needs at no extra cost. Would use them again without hesitation.

The service was good. It was actually a different service. The guy came and the big deal was for a replacement of an outside faucet. He said that what I have is a better faucet than what they are doing. So, he fixed it because it was broken. He was on-time.

I purchased a big deal from them. I wanted the smoke alarm to be desensitized and he said well maybe just find a cover; because I had two, there was no reason why one kept going on. So he said well I will see what I can do and that was the end of it. Then the mere I had to go get a contractor to cut a hole in the wall to do an open air, like vent hood, that cost me like $600 instead of him just covering it. So, it was a waste of money but I am sure it was an unusual situation. They came out right away. The guy looked at what I needed and he said he would try and find it. There were no extra charges other than the big deal.

**RIP OFF**DO NOT USE LOWRY***I made a call to Lowrys regarding my air conditioner because my compressor wasn't running and I had no cold air. When they called me back to confirm the 12pm-4pm service window, I was told they could give me an hour lead time so I could get back home from work to meet the tech (instead of sitting home for 4 hours). I thought this was really nice of them! I got a call at 1pm and said the tech would be there at 2pm so I left work and got home before 2. At 2:45 I called them to see where the tech was and was told he would be at my house by 3pm, which he was. The tech Tom was very nice and told me the connector box on the outside compressor unit needed to be replaced. He went out to his truck to look up the price of the part he needed and to write the quote to fix the AC. He handed me a quote for $500.00 which I thought was expensive, so I called a friend of mine to discuss the repair bill. The service tech Tom told my friend what the problem was and said he "had to use Lowry's book price for parts". I paid Lowry's $89.00 for the service call but did not have them do the work. Instead a friend of mine bought the connector box for $9.95! and connected it himself in under 20 minutes! How can Lowrys possibly charge me $500.00 for a $10 part??? They are dishonest and a disgrace! DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANYTHING!!!

They came out about a month ago. I thought the price was fair for the work that they did. They were courteous and always on time. They were very careful to make sure that they did not mess anything up. They put booties on their shoes before they come into your house. When he did the work on the lantern, he did it very neatly, because he had to dig into the ground and put cement in there. Their pricing is a little bit on the high side. I would use them again.

Very professional and prompt as well as extremely neat. Overall price seemed high, but work was very professional.

It was good. My wife wanted a faucet from their catalogue and that faucet wasn’t available, so he went out to Home Depot and bought another one, that wasn’t so good.

They're very expensive. I don't think I'm gonna use them again. Those guys are more like catalog type people, everything is extremely expensive. I was stuck with them because I already paid the deal.

It was fine. They were pretty good and effecient. I havent had any problems.

Lightning struck the house. Power to the rear of the house did not return with the rest of the it. Jesus tested outlets in two rooms before locating the fault in the wiring of a ceiling fan. He disassembled the fan and corrected the wiring issue. Jesus meticulously cleaned the fan blades and motor housing of dust before reassembling and reinstalling the fan. He returned power to that part of the house. The cost was cheap because I used a Big Deal, paying only for the difference between the coupon value and the job cost. Jesus also let me use an invoice coupon worth $25 that Lowry Services awarded after performing a prior job.

Mike disconnected the drain mechanism of the sink and he removed the old S-trap. He sawed a piece of the vanity floor to accommodate the larger-diameter replacement pipe. Mike was courteous, quick and tidy about the work. The cost was cheap because I purchased a Big Deal.

They did an excellent job. The workman was very competent and nice. I think the price was a little high.

After I had the wallologist replace my wet floor Brian came back to put the toilet back on after he had to replace a shut off valve that had to be cut off by the wallologist. Brian said my flapper inside the toilet was worn and I needed a new one. He had to leave and get a flapper from Home Depot. He returned and replaced my flapper, the job was done. I was charged $518.13 for that. When Brian left my toilet kept running after you flushed. I called Lowry and had them send out another technician who told me I had a cheap flapper in my bowl and he proceeded to change it with a better one that he had in his truck. I as told that the technicians are not suppose to go to Home Depot to get parts. Even though they fixed my problem, I would probably use someone who is less expensive. My cousin is a plumber out of the state, and he told me I was overcharged.

We were very happy with that. He charged us for part, he didn’t even charge us for labor and he happened to have it in his truck, so it was convenient in that regard. It saved us from having a total breakdown. We were very, very pleased with them. We absolutely had no complaints with those people and they were wonderful. They came when they said they were going to come out, they were professional, they told us we needed something and they didn’t try to rip us off and our air conditioner was fairly new anyway. They were topnotch.

I received a very nice and professional e-mail explaining the reason they never responding to our request was due to the message (sent through Angie's List) had gone into the provider's SPAM.

Excellent experience! Provider was very professional and prompt, with good communication. Technician was friendly and competent. Price was very reasonable. Wouldn't hesitate to use this provider in the future.

Lowry's technician was punctual, polite and professional. I signed up to have one hose faucet bib replaced. When the technician arrived, I asked for a quote on have a frost-free bib installed. He evaluated the work needed and gave me a quote, which seemed very high to me. I also asked him to quote the second bib replacement, and again the price seemed high, especially since he was already at the home and it was a 15-20 minute job at best. However, for peace of mind, I agreed to the second bib replacement. Work on both was done in less than a half hour. All looked and worked fine. About two months later I noticed that the faucet handle screws were rusted on both faucets. This raised red flags with me, wondering if the quality of the hardware was below professional grade. NO screws or anything else should rust on a new, professionally installed outdoor faucet bib, especially not in such a short period of time, in my opinion. I sent a letter to Lowry on June 29, 2013, expressing my concern and asking for remediation. I included photos of both rusty faucets. I have not received a reply as of yet (3 weeks now). This is not good customer service and the parts are not high quality. I will not recommend them to others.

We are D-I-Yers with little experience of hiring professionals. We were surprised at the estimated cost of the job. The representative from Lowry was professional and helpful. If we had a job that we could not possibly do ourselves, we would call on them again.

Prompt service, excellent knowledge and attendant was very polite.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fantastic. I purchased it and they called me back either that day or the next day to set up an appointment and they were really prompt. The service was good. They were really prompt. They even called to confirm my appointment and I just thought it was a great experience. I used them once or twice after that. The price was fine.

My kitchen drain was clogged, the garbage disposal didn't drain and dirty water backed up into dishwasher. I had used Lowry this past winter to have a new heating boiler installed and was very impressed with the work they did and how professional the men were and they even left my cellar cleaner then when they started. So after looking at some other service providers in my area I decide to go with Lowry. When I first called they said the soonest they could get someone out was the next day, Friday. About an hour later they called back and told me they could have someone come after 4 pm if that was alright. As I was trying to prepare for a big family party on Saturday I was more than alright with them coming any time that day. The young man that came looked over everything, including the drain pipe in the cellar. He explained what he would do in trying to clear the clog. He also explained what potential problems could occur and what would be needed to fix them. He explained the pricing and I agreed although very concerned that if he ran into trouble I would be getting a big bill. He proceeded to work and in a very short time had the drain running free and clear. Fortunately he did not have to do additional work Although the agreed on price was more that I would have liked to pay in the end it was worth it as it gave me time to prepare for the party. The next time I need service I won't even need to look for another company as I now know that Lowry is a company that I can trust to do the work.
