I contacted Jim O'Neill to do our brick walkway and steps that got ruined this past winter. He was very punctual in getting back to me. He started the work within a week and it took them just a few days. Jim's workers did a great job. I would definitely use him again.

Jimmy and his team were an absolute pleasure to work with. They were punctual, efficient, polite, and cleaned up the workspace each day to make sure the space stayed as neat and functional as possible. We had our fireplace resurfaced and we could not be more pleased with how it turned out. Jimmy put so much thought in to every detail to make sure that it came out perfect. He was also always very quick to respond to both phone calls and emails. He went above and beyond through every step of the process.

O'Neill Masonry did excellent work for us. Jimmy O'Neill was responsive and came out quickly to survey our job for an estimate. He turned around a proposal promptly--in a couple of days. After agreeing on a very reasonable price, he kept me apprised of the job's schedule and gave me a couple days notice ahead of the actual start date. We have an old house so the concrete slab for the porch was out of square and had some other challenges--that didn't prevent Jimmy and his crew from installing a beautiful, professional looking flagstone porch. O'Neill also stuccoed the outside of the porch to match our existing stucco. O'Neill also repointed some loose mortar in our existing back patio as part of the overall package. Jimmy and his crew were professional throughout the entire process--would definitely use them again in the future.

Jimmy was a pleasure to work with considering the number of contractors I've spoken to over the last 3 years in attempts to have this work completed. He was responsive to my initial contact and since I was pretty clear about what I wanted to consider, he was open to exploring the replacement options of doing the steps in brick or in the exposed aggregate . He provided competitive estimates for both ideas, information about the materials used and additional insight with regard to long term durability and maintenance of the 2 design options. As the final design option was selected, Jimmy was enthusiastic about performing the work and supportive of the choice I made. The time between the "go" decision date (3/13?) and actual start date (3/27) fully met my expectations. Although, the 24 hr notice of start was less than what I expected but was doable as the prep work I thought I would be responsible for (uprooting existing bushes), they took care of for me. Jimmy was flexible with the early proposed start time and my need to be considerate of neighbors. He and his team were very punctual and exceeded my expectations - They clearly follow a code of "early is on time and on time is late!" And while they were on site very early -often before I would leave out for work, I appreciated their commitment to getting the job done as scheduled. Jimmy was in constant contact with me w/ updates and on the work site everyday, at some point - So I felt that my project was being overseen adequately and that the mason on site performing much of the work (Dave) was a craftsman - There were a few "blips" and quirky requests from this homeowner, but they were minor I think and Jimmy was receptive - On day 1, Dave did advise that a power and water source would be needed at some point - As I don't have outlets outside the home and no one was available during the hours they would be there, I could only accommodate them with a screw in light outlet - I had advised Jimmy that prior contractors had blown out my power before but he thought it would be ok given the small tool being used. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough "juice" to power the tool and he had to bring in his generator - That resulted in some tasks not being able to be completed as planned that day. The following day, they returned, ready to do framing -materials already cut for installation. The water source concerns (my leaky faucet) were able to be addressed as well when the time came w/ the use of a hose Jimmy had available - was able to run it from the garage while closed. Only homeowner concern was that the hose would still be on and open for random folks to mess with it. But Jimmy and crew were good about tucking the hose out of plain site so I appreciated that. My requests to keep my driveway clear as much as possible, tools off my lawn area and not to use my neighbors driveway (not on good terms with them..) was honored (I think..) as much as reasonably possibly. The work was finalized on 4/3 and multiple pictures while on site performing final clean up were provided real time - Jimmy shared that he was very pleased with the finish product and offered advice on new railing installation timeline. So overall, I had a really great experience and as a result of the pictures I posted on FB, already had friends ask for his contact information. I've been in my home for 14 years and over the years, I've designated professionals in place for all my house needs - carpenter, electrician, plumber..general contractor.. Jimmy and his crew will likely be my designated masonry company of choice going forward and I expect to hire them again for additional projects in the next few months.

The original contractor (All Wood Flooring, affiliated with Lumber Liquidators) botched the job badly, starting the removal of flagstone from a foyer, but not finishing the work after discovering that it would be more difficult than originally anticipated. (AW let the unfinished floor sit for month before informing me that it would cost five times the original estimate to complete the job.) I called Jim O'Neill out of desperation on a Thursday. He reviewed the parameters on Friday and had his team complete the job -- quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively -- on Saturday. Moreover, my ultimate cost was LESS than Jim's initial estimate, essentially because his team took less time to finish things up than anticipated. O'Neill Masonry is very professional, highly capable, and extremely accommodating. I'm calling back in the spring to for help with a new patio.

they showed up early to start and cut the foundation out in less than a day. there were issues with some of the piers and caps, but Jimmy gave me a fair price to fix/replace these unforeseen issues and the results are great. The pointing looks like it could be original to the house (which is what we wanted). the only issue from my perspective is that the color of the mortar is not 100% consistent around the entire house. Not a huge issue and it will probably blend better as it ages. I would give A- on quality if I could because I think a B is too h****** them. A huge improvement from the original pointing and adds a certain curb appeal to the house. workers were courteous and very professional and cleaned up after each day. very satisfied with the overall results.
Description of Work: repointed stone foundation, columns, and piers with weather joints. job took about 4 days from start to finish for a 1700 sq foot, two story house with stone all the way around at about 3 to 4 feet above grade. also three stone columns and two stone outcroppings/piers with caps. replaced some rotting stone and rebuilt both piers.

After some technical glitches in getting an estimate setup, I finally did meet with O'Neill Masonry and got an estimate. I didn't move forward with their services, as the fee seemed high for what I expected the work would entail, and I was nervous about proceeding, I wasn't sure we were on the same page with what I needed done. Or perhaps it was just a bigger job than I expected.

Not well. Back wall Patio itself does look nice but grading not proper. our biggest issue is that the job was not completed and he talked my old mother into paying him promising he'd complete job and never did and left the place a mess. We needed to pay someone to clean up and complete the job. also, we were not happy about the collateral damage that occurred. He was highly recommended by the realtor and had good reviews here, so it was not what we were expecting.

[member name removed] Please mention the $6000 I deducted from the total to help your mother as well as the free roof I paid to have out on for you out of the kindness of my own heart. Let us not forget the contract you signed that explained that we were not responsible for regrading as we are not landscapers and major grading was going to be needed. It's only fair to tell the whole story. No good deed goes unpunished.

Jim was very professional and accommodating on the phone. We like to utilize the local contractors and were happy to find someone with good reviews close to our home. An appt was scheduled to get an estimate for the work we required. He called and left a message to reschedule (no problem). I returned his call and left a message and then never heard from him. I called again two more times and never received the courtesy of return calls.

Creative, responsive, detail oriented and hard working. We couldn't have asked for more from Jim or his excellent crew. Really top drawer and his "can do" approach to retro fitting with an old house was impressive. We've had a lot of work done over the years and there is none better. Finished on time even with rain delays. Fantastic!

The experience was great the contractor was excellent and the price was much lower than I originally budgeted for.
Description of Work: I have a stucco cape cod built in 1910. The house is huge 5600 sq ft. The back wall had stucco buldging away from the house and a large section between the windows and under and around one of them had to have the stucco completely removed and replaced. I received many estimates from various contractors but none of them were even close to what Jim quoted me. Originially when he came out he quoted me a price of $750 which in my experience was less then half of what other contractors had quoted me. He arrived set up his scoffelling and started removing the stucco from the exterior. He said that the windows needed to be caulked because water had gotten behind the walls and loosen the stucco from the house. He removed all the buldging stucco and said that the job wasn't as bad as he thought it was going to be because there was no rotten wood that needed to be replaced and that he was going to discount his original estimate and knock $200 off the price!!! In all my years of experience in dealing with contractors I have never once had one say to me that he was going to reduce the price once he started the job. He did a great job matching up the finish and I was very happy with the work that he did. He was professional cleaned up and didn't leave a mess and charged me $550.00 for a job I was quoted anywhere from $1650 to $3000 to do. This is the guy you want to hire if you have stucco issues or chimney repairs because his work is excellent and he's not trying to rip people off. I would recommend him to everyone I know.

Jimmy's crew showed up right on time. Crew leader Nick explained exactly what he was going to do on both projects. The crew took down bad part of chimney, then rebuilt it. Project took 2 days which I thought was quick. They were very clean through the entire job Crew showed up early for this job. Nick again explained the process of taking out door, blocking it up,putting the waterproof membrane up, then backfilling with dirt. Crew was very friendly and professional Jimmy, the owner, showed up at both jobs to see how everything was going and to make sure things were going the way I wanted and expected. Very in tune to customers needs. Fantastic job by everyone working for O'Neill masonry

Asked Jimmy to take a look at our front steps (brick) and offer an estimate for repairs, new steps and walkway. He responded quickly to our initial request and was nice in person. He assured us he would send a quote via email that evening. However, after several emails and calls with no reponse, we will look elsewhere. Almost a month since his visit, we have not heard a thing. This is disappointing because I hear he does good work.

First, I must say I am a very hard customer to impress and satisfy. I have a keen eye for detail and expect nothing but the very best service. Jim O'Neill and his crew did a great job! I would highly recommend them and will use them for my other masonry work from now on. Their price was totally fair and in line with the majority of the competition. Jim (the owner) was very professional, considerate, and shared his deep masonry experience with me. He explained what really needed to be done to fix my problem and actually steered me away from an add on service that was recommended by another company. The other company was going to charge me several thousand dollars more for the service! Jim simply said it was not worth it and was unnecessary. Jim had an opportunity to try to take advantage of me but he didn't. That example is an indication of his character. His honesty and total confidence in his crew and services impressed me. It was one of the main reasons why I went with him rather than another company here on Angie's List that also had a high rating but many more reviews. Give O'Neill Masonry a try or at least give him an opportunity to check out your project. Jim will tell you the real deal and he will get it fixed as soon as he can. Good job O'Neill Masonry!

Jimmy O'Neill and his crew from O'Neill Masonry was awesome to work with for our project! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our scope of work started out small with the idea to just repair parts of our Tennessee river stone retaining wall and the slate stone floor for our front porch. (This was in preparation for our porch re-construction project for new roof, new columns and new railings.) But once they started to dismantle the wall & floor - it became apparent that stone needed to be re-built and the front porch floor was also compromised with settling beneath the concrete foundation. Jimmy immediately alerted me to the situation, explaining options and what the costs would be. Deciding to build a whole new porch floor we discussed ideas for stone, and Jimmy was back from the Quarry in an hour with various samples for me! So, we were on our way to a beautiful new front porch floor - and the price was right! The increased scope of work went from a 1 day Friday project to a 5 day project - and Jim was able to adjust his schedule for us and was not flustered by the change in plans. His crew worked the weekend so our porch could be completed for the next contractor to begin on a porch re-construction project the following week. Jim was here every day as well making sure things were going right and on schedule. O'Neill Masonry built us a beautiful stone floor that we will do a lot of relaxing on! Their dedication to detail and customer service showed! We will be calling O'Neill Masonry next Spring to resume working on our other retaining walls on our property. Thanks Jimmy! Karen O'Neill Huntingdon Valley, PA
Description of Work: O'Neill Masonry rebuilt the upper section of our driveway retaining wall (Tennessee rivers stone) that supported our front porch area. They were wonderful. Jimmy came on time for the initial appointment and he and his crew were on time as scheduled every time thereafter. They were very professional throughout the whole job and they did great work. They were especially attentive to our concern to keep the new masonry consistent with the old stone work of our house. Jimmy had several suggestions about a couple issues that we hadn't considered and we are glad he made the suggestions because the end result looks much better than it would have without them. A big plus is that the crew were all wonderful with my kids, even with my 2 three year old boys who followed them around, fascinated with the tools and machinery, and asked a thousand questions. We are very pleased with the work overall and will ask them back for more masonry work when we're ready for the next project. I'd highly recommend them.

My roof had been damaged in the snowstorms of 2010. In re-roofing several problems with our stucco were encountered. Enter O'Neill Masonry. They re-tooled their schedule to allow a crew to come to our home and perform the needed fixes. The crew arrived promptly, set up seamlessly and completed the work in a business-like fashion. The second coat was done the following day and the scaffolding removed. This was all done without me having to lift a finger. Jim O'Neill's crew came in, did a fantastic job, and left the place in wonderful, clean shape. I had been dreading the post-job clean-up of blobs on the patio, etc. No hassle, no mess, no intrusion...no need to worry. I will certainly use them again as the need arises.
Description of Work: The company I used for our roof repair contacted O'Neill Masonry on our behalf. The stucco on the sides of the dormer had shattered as a result of a leak between the roof's flashing and the stucco which was discovered as the re-roofing was done. Jim O'Neill gave us a quote on the work. I agreed with the price and scope of the job. They arrived as agreed, completed the work, departed. Happy customer.
