It was fine.
Description of Work: We just bought a dishwasher at Gerhard's. It was easy; I told the salesman what size space I had, and that I did not want to go from one brand to another and try to do the comparisons myself. So I just asked the salesman to sell me the best model for my needs. He did, I bought it, they delivered and installed it, and everything went very well. The dishwasher itself was a Kitchen Aid and it works fine.

Description of Work: We bought a microwave and oven. So far so good. Lisa McK on the billing side was so good. She tried hard to find us a rebate opportunity and when she couldn't she felt badly. She actually gave us a lovely gift certificate to an upscale restaurant- everything included and with no price cap. It had been hers personally and she said she wouldn't be able to use it. Talk about customer service. Wow. She was sweet. Many other reviews of this store are bad and we were concerned about buying here. I only hope we don't have problems with our appliances moving forward because it sounds like that could be difficult. Installers were good. I have my fingers crossed that all goes well. As of now all I can say is thank you Lisa McK. We appreciate your good customer service. As for the rest of you there you should try to get these reviews better or at least respond to the bad ones.

Description of Work: I purchased a Fridgedaire side by side refrigerator in July and the service was fine. I like it a lot and it looks nice. After about 3 months the freezer would not maintain temperature. I called service and they sent someone out to look at it. He was very courteous and ordered a new thermostat for it. About a week later the part came in and they sent another person to install it and he was equally great. It's nice to have quality service theses days!

I received very good, personal service when I went there. I have nothing negative to say about them at all. Peter was one of the owners there and he was really good. They did deliver my machine, took away the old one and installed the new one. The great thing was that my cleaning lady wanted my old one because it was not like it did not work. Anyways, Gerhard s took it away and held it at their place until she could come and get it. I thought that was very nice of them. So far the washing machine is doing great and it is working just fine

I knew I'd have to have the gas lines fixed by a contractor at time of delivery and I was advised of the cost. I paid an extra $150 but the 2 service guys were great. They called before they came too. They cleaned up beautifully. Many years before I purchased an upright freezer for the garage. My mother got very ill so I delayed delivery for many months. When I called to have it finally delivered, they came the next day. Prior to that, I purchased a washer and a refrigerator. I never had a problem. All info was upfront.
Description of Work: Went in to look for a single gas oven wall unit. Eric printed out and showed me options and quoted a price. I went back 2 weeks later, got exactly what I wanted. Eric even got me a manufacturer's rebate.

T.J. Worked with us to get the best deal for the appliances which met our needs and desires. He paid careful attention to the rebates, and helped us fill out the proper forms and made sure we knew when to submit them. We had a service issue with the range to which they responded promptly and resolved the issue. Gene Gerhard got personally involved and called the day of the repair to make sure we were happy. They are proud of their company and were obviously cared about our business.
Description of Work: We recently renovated our kitchen and purchased four KitchenAid appliances at Gerhards. Dual fuel convection range, cabinet depth refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave/hood.

I first visited Gerhard's in late March telling my sales rep, Gene Gerhard, that I needed 7 window unit air conditioners. He said that he did not yet have his AC units in stock for the upcoming season, but that he would draft me a quotation for the purchase and installation of the units. Gerhard's took almost 2 months to get the quote to me. It was easy to schedule the installation. The installers showed up on time, were friendly and had a professional demeanor. However, the installers damaged the exterior of each unit during the uncrating process. The installers installed the damaged units without notifying me of the damage they had caused. The damage does not impair the short-term operation of the unit. I immediately followed up with Gene Gerhard (late May) who has promised to research the situation and has yet to respond to me (late August). I have made many phone calls to Gene to no avail. I am currently disputing the charges with my credit card company.
Description of Work: Purchase and installation of 7 window unit air conditioners.

My experience was TWO YEARS of frustration, anger, and time lost from work waiting for a repair visit. I am still stuck with a faulty refrigerator after paying for an extended warranty, which was not honored.
Description of Work: I bought a refrigerator, which was faulty. Before the warranty ran out, Gerhards sent a repair person. They also sold me a Gerhard's extended warranty (not General Electric-the refrigerator manufacturer). After nine visits in a two year span to try and fix the problem, they ignored my calls and said sorry and too bad. After I won in small claims, they appealed, knowing I would have to hire an attorney to respond, which would cost more than the refrigerator. ALL BUYERS BEWARE BECAUSE THIS COMPANY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS OR REPAIRS.

Overall our experience was a painful disappointment. No problem with sales reps who were very helpful. Problems occurred with delivery (the items were not delivered when the store said that they would be-thank goodness I was home!) Refrigerator was installed but was severely off level. Stove required a gas line which was to be handled by their contractor who didn't show day of install. When called owners, owner 1 whined about making little money on installs, that he didn't make the promise but the other owner (his brother), did and this was not his problem. Would not prioritize or promise for next day. The 1st owner yelled at me, refused to connect calls to the owner who made promises/contract, and hung up as he was refusing to complete the work. We called contractor directly to coordinate and basically begged him to come out. The contractor was under the impression that the job had been done per owner BUT did come and did an excellent job @ value price. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE!

I thought the tech was great. Very informative and friendly. The price was $49.95 for service call, 10 for labor, + tax. I think the service call price was a extreme, but other than that I highly recommend.
Description of Work: Window A/C unit was blowing black junk out of the vent. Tech came and cleaned 6 years of dirt out the fan and showed me how to clean it myself. He gave me advice on how to care for the unit in the winter and about the life-span and general maintenance of the a/c.

GERRY WAS GREAT TO DEAL WITH. GAVE GREAT ADVICE WHICH DID NOT SEEM TO BE DRIVEN BY HIS PROFIT MOTIVE, BUT RATHER BY MY NEEDS. WE HAD A LITTLE DIFFICULTY WITH A WRONG ORDER WHICH HE FIXED WITHOUT ARGUMENT, BUT IT TOOK A LITTLE LONG TO RESOLVE. THE TIME DELAY MAY HAVE BEEN DUE TO MANUFACTURER. THEY HAVE PROVIDED MINOR SERVICE FOR APPLIANCES AND THEY ARE GOOD TO DEAL WITH AND HAVE NICE SERVICEMEN.

I RESPECT THE HONESTY OF THE TECHNICIAN AS HE COULD HAVE MADE SOME UNNEEDED REPAIRS. BUT, HE JUST RECONNECTED THE WIRE ONLY CHARGED FOR THE SERVICE VISIT OF $49.95. I WILL DEFINITELY USE THIS REPAIR SERVICE IN THE FUTURE AND WOULD RECOMMEND IT.
Description of Work: CALLED GERHARDS INC. ABOUT 1 PM AUG 15. THEY ANSWERED IMMEDIATELY AND SCHEDULED A SERVICE VISIT FOR THE AM ON AUG 16. THE VISIT CHARGE WAS $49.95. THE GERHARDS SERVICE TECHNICIAN ARRIVED ABOUT 12:15 PM ON AUG 16. HE QUICKLY FOUND THE PROBLEM AS A DISCONNECTED WIRE TO THE WASHER MOTOR. HE RECONNECTED THE WIRE AND THE WASHER WORKED FINE. THERE WAS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE.

THE SERVICE PERSON WAS PROMPT AND POLITE. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND RESOLVED IT IN AN EFFICIENT MANNER. THEY HAD TO MAKE TWO VISITS. THEIR PRICE WAS REASONABLE.

MY PARENTS ARE ELDERLY AND THEIR BEDROOM AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WENT OUT AT THE HEIGHT OF A JULY HEAT WAVE. I WENT TO GERHARD'S NOT REALLY EXPECTING THEM TO HAVE ANY AIR CONDITIONERS IN STOCK. MY PARENT'S WINDOW IS SMALL WHICH GREATLY LIMITED SELECTION IN THE FIRST PLACE. BUT THE SALESMAN, MARK COOPER, WAS VERY HELPFUL AND ACCOMMODATING. ONCE WE DETERMINED HOW LARGE OF A UNIT WOULD FIT, HE CHECKED HIS INVENTORY RECORDS AND FOUND A SUITABLE AIR CONDITIONER IN STOCK. MARK ARRANGED TO HAVE IT DELIVERED AND INSTALLED ON THE SAME DAY. I HADN'T ARRIVED AT THE STORE UNTIL AFTERNOON SO IT WAS EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE TO ME THAT GERHARD'S AGREED TO HAVE THE DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION SCHEDULED AT THE END OF THEIR REGULAR WORK DAY. I HAVE BEEN USING GERHARD'S TO PURCHASE MY APPLIANCES FOR THE LAST TEN YEARS AND HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED.
