While our chimney sweep was cleaning our chimney last year, he told us that we needed a chimney liner installed. We began looking around for chimney repair companies and had three visit us over the past 6 months. All told us that we needed a liner and gave us quotes ranging from $2,000 to $3,800 to install the liner. We were not particularly happy with any of the companies. After searching on Angie's List, we had Jonathan from Safe T Sweep come out to give us a quote. He came on a Saturday and was right on time. Jonathan inspected the chimney from both the basement and even got up on the roof to inspect it from the top. He took many pictures of the inside of our chimney and fully explained to us what he saw - that our chimney was in fine shape and didn't need a liner! We knew we needed chimney caps and he did install those for us and gave us the Angie's List discount. Jonathan even took extra time to look at our wood burning chimney as well and gave us advise on it. We enjoyed our few hours with Jonathan (and his top hat that has to make you smile when you see it!) and will definitely be using Safe T Sweep for all our chimney needs going forward!

There was no clean out on my oil flue, so any rain, condensation, goo, that got down the chimney was being funneled to the basement, and through the piping back to my HVAC equipment. It got to the point that every year a puddle of black goo on the floor of the basement would develop right where the oil furnace connects to the chimney. Jonathan come out, inspected the flue I was having an issue with, and recommended a solution. He was very thorough and took the time to show me the issue, detail why it was happening and show me pictures of other jobs with similar issues. Gave a reasonable price for fixing it, and re-arranged his schedule to take care of it in short order. A few days later he came out to fix the issue. Everything went flawlessly. After he was done I asked him to inspect one of my other chimneys on a wood burning fireplace to see if it needed to be cleaned (hadn't been in 3yrs). He looked at it and said we could go another year or two. I appreciate the honesty, as he could have said it needed to be cleaned and I would be none the wiser. In completing the work he was very meticulous, thorough, and diligent. Excellent character. Highly recommend. Would have him back in a heart beat.

Jon arrived wearing a top hat, which tickled me to no end. I've inherited an older home, and have no idea what I'm doing. All I knew was that the fireplace hadn't been used in 10+ years. I also didn't know that we have a separate chimney for the oil heater. Jon was very informative and helpful. He walked me through how to use the fireplace, how both worked etc. Turns out neither chimney had a cap. Jon gave me the Angie's list deal for $108 each on the spot and installed both right away. Great experience. I would definitely call Safe T Sweep again.

Jon did a great job performing a chimney sweep. He was on time and completed the job quickly and properly. He explained everything very clearly and I appreciated his honesty. When he left, there was no sign of any dirt and the fireplace looks great. I will definitely use him again in the future.

Communication and promptness were excellent. Of the three estimates I got, Jon's was right in the middle, but I was very impressed with his thorough presentation, professionalism, and the explanations of what he would do. His use of photos also helped clarify what was needed. The work seemed to be thorough, efficient, and neat. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to others.

Responded quickly to call requesting cleaning. Appointment scheduled within a week. Punctual. Arrived decked out in his top hat. Jon was very informative, professional and friendly. He did not try to sell me things or perform tasks that did not need to be done. I am transferring from an oil boiler to a gas heater and he was a wonderful neutral third party full of information to help me make some important decisions. Will definitely recommend and use again

He was on time. He gave us an honest option and he was correct. We had other people come in at look at the chimney. He was accurate. He got up on the chimney. Most people just look from the ground. He was very nice.

It was a great experience. He was super professional and courteous in every interaction we had with him. He showed up in a tophat, much to the delight of my two-year-old. He brought a chimney sweep coloring book for my son and treats for my dog. Oh, and of course he did a great job with the chimney. I would highly recommend him.

It went very well. Jonathan was here right on time and even called to tell me he might be late because of traffic. He checked some areas in the basement and even gave me advice on areas that didn't pertain to the call. He did the work efficiently and quickly, and took pictures to show me the work he did. A really, really nice guy and I will definitely call him again probably in the spring/summer of 2014 to do additional work that may need to be done. I would recommend his company to anyone without blinking an eye. Hard to find someone like him these days.

Jonathan was great! We had a squirrel come down our chimney into the house and were quite anxious to get a solution in place to prevent a recurrance. I had another contractor out first and the quote came back significantly higher than expected for the scope of work (~$600). I called Jonathan from Safe T Sweep, he stopped by the next day in a top hat and provided me with a couple different options available based on our gas fireplace. After some investigation, I scheduled the chimney cap based on his Angies List coupon and he completed the work the next day. Would definitely recommend and use them again.

Based on a home inspection report, I asked Safe-T-Sweep to come over and give me an estimate for the recommended repairs. Jon came out and did a no charge inspection and follow-up consultation. He explained, in great detail, all the options based on my expected usage for the fireplace. Jon recommended that I not make the recommended repairs, primarily because we use the fireplace so little and that when it comes to selling the house there would be no impact on it's value. Jon then voluntarily painted my chimney cap since "he already had his ladder set up". I think the facts speak for themselves. I will never consider anyone except Jon to do my chimney work in the future!

Even though we don't burn wood in our 52-YO fireplace, I decided to have the flues checked out. I chose Safe-T-Sweep based on the very positive reviews on this site. Jonathan was timely for the inspection, and IMO very thoroughly assessed my flue and chimney issues. He took a number of photos, both inside and outside the flues, so I could see what's going on. I was not surprised to learn that there was some damage inside my fireplace flue, so at least we know not to consider burning wood. I was surprised to learn that my water heater flue was not functioning properly; Jon explained the situation in detail, including pointing out physical evidence of the problem. I was convinced that a liner was needed, as much by his professional demeanor as by the physical evidence (melting heater components). So I agreed to have the flue lined. I had been thinking about getting a chimney cap, so asked Jon to show me what he had. Because he was running an Angie's List special on a high quality SS cap, I told him to go ahead and put one on. In addition, although I had my chimney crown repaired less than 2 years ago, there were already cracks around the wash. He recommended a coating which is guaranteed for 15 years. I agree to that product, as well. When he returned to do the work, he accomplished the liner and cap, but since the forecast was for possible thundershowers, he recommended we wait to do the CrownCoat until we could be assured of no unexpected showers. I agreed, and asked if I could pay him for the work he had already done. He replied No, just wait until the entire job has been completed. He returned a couple weeks later to complete the job. When finalizing my invoice, he said he was now running an AL special of $100 off a flue lining (not to be combined with any other offer). He suggested that if he applied that special price, he would need to charge me full fare for the cap, but I would end up saving $37. He didn't have to do that, which IMO speaks to the type of honest, professional that he is. His work was very professional, and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again, which we actually intend to do when we can afford to add a gas fireplace insert. A final note: my neighbor had received an estimate from a chimney company that solicited her business. She wasn't fully comfortable with their assessment and estimate. I walked Jon up to meet her when he finished with my house. She later told me that his assessment was much different; she didn't need a liner, etc. She ended up having Jon install a couple chimney caps. He also offered to clean out her clogged roofline gutters, a job she was having trouble getting a response on from her roofer. She was thrilled with Jon's honesty and professionalism, and much appreciated him helping with the gutter issue, as well.

Installation went very smoothly. Only took a few hours to perform the work. Jon was courteous and explained the problem and the work required thoroughly. His price completive compared to other quotes.

I contacted several chimney sweeps after we thought we might have an issue with our furnance chimney. Most were not available right away. Both the furance and hot water heater use oil and we noticed a burning smell in the basement and on the second floor that we thought was coming from the chimney. I left a message for Safe T Sweep and Jonathan contacted me the next day. He was available quickly and arrived for the appointment right on time. He even called ahead of time to confirm the appointment. He was very polite and knowledgable. He explained everything he was doing and showed me several pictures he took. He made some recommendations for a liner in the future and to have our furnance and hot water heater serviced. The burning smell is gone so it seems the chimney cleaning helped. Everything was clean when he finished. I would definitely hire him again.

We contacted them after we received a quote from some company that told us we needed a new liner for the chimney after refusing to clean it because it was in horrible shape. It was then inspected by Safe T Sweep with a camera and we were told that the chimney was fine. He installed a chimney cap, which we needed, for a fair price. We would have spent over$1000 more if we did not get this second opinion.

Jonathan was one of many chimney sweep contractors who I contacted to give me an estimate for a chimney liner and was one of the few that actually followed through with an estimate after visiting my house. He was the lowest bid. The work was completed in one day with no mess what so ever. Great experience. I would hire him again.

I used this company twice in the past year. When I purchased my house I was unaware of the condition of the fireplace flue and chimney. I called many chimney sweeps (some highly recommended) and was told by all that my fireplace would require $10,000 + dollars worth of work in order to be used. After doing much research I found Safe-T-Sweep. They came out and did a no charge consultation and assured me that I would have no problem burning fires for many years to come. Hesitantly at first (only because of the other companies telling my my fireplace was destroyed) I decided to light a test fire. By the end of this winter I had burned through to chords of wood with no issues!!!! I hired them a few weeks ago to clean out the flues and install caps and would never dream of hiring another company again. Not only were they extremely professional, they called back immediately, always showed up on time, left absolutely no mess in my living room or on my completely white mantle and fireplace surround. Prices were also unbelievable, almost 25% less expensive if not more then every other company I called!

After a fair amount of research and comparison shopping, we contacted Safe-T-Sweep. It went very well. Jonathan gave us a quote over the phone, showed up and quickly installed the cap. Very professional and courteous, no problems. Jonathan was also very knowledgeable, visually inspected our fireplace and offered valuable insights and suggestions. Same with our chimney. We would not hesitate to use Safe-T-Sweep in the future or recommend them to others.

He did a through safety check on our fireplace, and cleaned the debris from the inside. He took his time explaining what he was going to do before he did it, and made sure we knew why he was performing the service. From beginning to end, this was the most through, thoughtful and customer service oriented contractor we have ever used! My son still plays with the miniature fire-sweep figure he gave him. Will definitely be recommending Safe T Sweep to all my neighbors, and friends with chimneys.

Everything went smoothly. It took a little longer than I had hoped, but Jon let us choose an older cast iron door he had in his garage that just needed new bolts. This option saved us money, provided us with a more decorative door, and helped us feel good about reusing/recycling an existing door. It was a great solution. Thanks, Jon!

We moved into our house in 2009. We don't have a fireplace, so I really didn't even think about having to have the chimney swept until this rust color liquid began to appear on the side of my chimney. I was worried and contacted this company. The guy came quickly and immediately ascertained that the problem had nothing to do with a clogged chimney, but rather the dyes used in our oil heat. I had him sweep the chimney anyway since he was here and it should be done periodically. He was neat and quick. Then he went the extra mile and got up on top of the roof to look down the chimney to make sure all was well, which he didn't need to since he was able to sweep the chimney from the furnace in the basement. I would use this company again and would not hesitate to recommend them to someone else.

Jonathan first came out to my home approximately the third week of January, after a roofer noticed the chimney was in disrepair. He was punctual for our appointment and very professional both on the phone and in person. He comes donned in a black top hat and has a truck with a impressive design on it. It is impossible to miss his arrival! He told me what needed to be done and provided an estimate that day. He also showed me the pictures he took of the issues that needed to be corrected. Another contractor came out later that day and told me that my chimney was crumbling and was a major health hazard because the emissions from the heater could back up into my house. I called Jonathan to ask him if there was an eminent risk and he reassured me there was not. I appreciated his honesty. We set the date for the work to be done, but a winter storm intervened. We rescheduled the end of the same week and Jonathan arrived at the appointed time. He went right to work and continued working for the next 6-7 hours until the job was completed. He replaced the ductwork from the heater and water heater to the new chimney liner because they were corroded. This was work that was not covered in the estimate and he did not charge me extra. Jonathan's dad, who started the business, came out later in the day to assist. They cleaned up everything and took the trash with them. They presented me with a little gift before they left. I would recommend Safe-T-Sweep to anyone.

Jonathan arrived at our door wearing a top hat and proceeded to remove his shoes before I even had a chance to ask him to do so (we don't wear outdoor shoes in the house). He was very professional, experienced, efficient, polite, informative, and cleaned up after himself really well. He gets an 'A+' from us. We get a 'D' for not completing this review in a timely manner! We will definitely use his services again. And, I would highly recommend him!
