After not having our chimney swept in the 15+ years we've lived here, we weren't sure what to expect, either in terms of chimney sweep services in general or our chimney in particular. Safe T Sweep was on time, diligent in cleaning the chimney, and helpful in terms of suggestions, in particular of placing a chimney cap on our chimney, as well as how to save money doing it. Great service, great price, great value. I would definitely use Safe T Sweep again and recommend them to others.

We have lived in our home for 6 years and never had the chimney swept and do not know if/when the previous owner ever did. While we only have 5-10 fires a year with mostly imitation logs made from recycled paper with some wood logs mixed in, we felt it was time to "make sure" the chimney was clean. In addition, we were having the smoke smell in the house after some of the heavy rains over the prior month so we wanted to have chimney caps installed. When I called to schedule the appointment, the phone was answered directly and the appointment was scheduled straight away for the following week as I called during their busy season. Jon Barr called before he arrived to make sure that it was OK if he was early, which it was. He arrived a few minutes early (complete with the "gimmicky" hat, sorry) and went to work, asking some detailed questions about our use of the fireplace, history, etc. He did an inspection of the flue and was honest stating that it did not need to be swept and that given the current condition and the rate of our usage, we didn't need to call him for another 10 years (now what contractor ever says that?!) We had him install the chimney caps and because we did it the same day as the inspection, the $125 inspection fee was waived (which was almost like getting a cap for free). He took photos of the chimney and showed use areas that could use some repointing at the crown. Jon was very thorough in explaining everything that was done, the paperwork/warranty and we love the plant! See you in 10 years!

The sight of the hat set the eone...Jonathan arrived at the prescribed time, introduced himself and set off to find and determine a remedy for my chinmey. He showed me problem, allowing me to get a good look, described what need to be done, why it was necessary, what would take place in the repair, how much it would cost, very competitive in pricing, how long it would take to install and when he could schedule the work. Very comprehensive and not much to question. His work backed up everything he said and as an added bonus I got to meet the two generation on this team!

My initial phone call was returned quickly, and an appointment was scheduled quickly as well. Jon Barr, owner of the company with his father, clearly explained the benefits of the liner he uses - without pressure or "scare tactics." I had conducted enough research to be comfortable that the product was good and that his price was good. The work was scheduled for the following week and was completed more than satisfactorily - the basement wall was patched, the floor cleaned, and rugs laid between the back door and the basement door to keep my house clean. Jon is unfailingly polite and professional - responsive and on time. Safe-T-Sweep is the only chimney company I will use and I recommend it highly.

Jon arrived early (but called first to make sure that was fine). He was thorough and explained what he was doing and how everything works, which was helpful since this is our first home and first fireplace. The thoroughly cleaned the chimney and gave me advice on what to keep an eye on in the basement. He evaluated the condition and chimney and let us know that there was a small gap and eventually we'll probably need a liner. But he said it wasn't necessary right away and that if it was his chimney, he'd feel confident using it for the upcoming year. Our two flues were too close together for a single cap, so he quoted out the price for a double, along with several other future options, all with no pressure at all. He was professional and I deeply appreciated his honesty.

It went very well. He arrived promptly, job price was reasonable and what he quoted. Very nice demeanor... excellent customer service. Job was done very thoroughly. I would highly recommend this company to anyone that needs a chimney sweep.

The chimney sweep (Mr. Barr) called me the night before our appointment to confirm the time. He called the morning of our appointment to see if I was able to have him come earlier as his first appointment had canceled. He was prompt, neat and completed the work in a timely fashion. I have a wood burning insert in my fireplace and the ashes from our last fire were still in the stove. Mr. Barr cleaned these ashes out as well as cleaning the chimney from the top down.

Arrived on time. Courteous. Neat. Pleasant and appropriate. Informative and low pressure. Definitely a good experience and would recommend.

This was an excellent experience. Jon (the owner) showed up when he said he would. He was friendly, appeared to know his business, and honest. I originally called him (based on his Angies List rating) and asked how much it would cost to have both chimneys cleaned and capped. He estimated $600. But when he inspected our chimneys, he told me that they were both clean. So he only charged me for the caps. It should be noted that a lesser man could have gone through the motions and charged me for the cleaning. He also inspected the crown (which I could not see because I was not about to climb the ladder). Again, he could have told me that it needed patching. But instead, he described the problems (which he thought were too minor to require repair) and told me that I didn't need any repair work done. There have been too many instances where contractors have left me angry and frustrated. This gentleman was like getting into the Wayback machine. I truly believes that he values his customers and enjoys his work! If you need similar work, give him a call. I am confident that you won't be disappointed.

Very thorough, very informative. Came quickly (within 4-5 hours of call). Would not hesitate to recommend to everybody. We got lot of useful information about our chimney, and we feel like we have found a real expert.

I was told by my plumber that I need a new chimney liner. I called 3 companies for estimates. Two of them said my system was kaput, and I should shut it down to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning...rush, rush; huge job to install liner. Saft-t-Sweep evaluated the situation, arriving to fulfill my request for an estimate for a new chimney liner. They explored the chimney with mirrors, from both top and bottom. Conclusion: You need a good sweeping, not a chimney liner. It would have been a boon to their bottom line to recommend a liner, but they were scrupulously honest in telling me I did not NEED a new liner. The price differential between installation of a new liner and a simple sweep was over $1500. So, I am impressed with the integrity of this company. The gentleman who came to sweep the chimney arrived promptly in his stovepipe hat, completed his work efficiently, and left the basement cleaner than it has been in years. I highly recommend this group...honest, and thorough. I especially appreciate the honesty, since I am recently widowed, and thus new to handling these sorts of house problems. Use them if you have a need. Wonderful group.

Jon was punctual, professional, courteous and knowledgeable. They came when they said they would, installed the liner in about an hour and cleaned up after themselves...

Jon and his father showed up promptly. They were extremely nice and professional. They did a thorough job and made sure everything was clean. Jon offered advice on some things that we needed to attend to and explained how to remedy the problems inexpensively on our own. He was also kind enough to remove an old antenna that was attached to the chimney and also cleaned some leaves and other debris from some of the gutters while he was on the roof doing his inspection. He even carted the antenna away for us and did not charge anything for doing so. He also educated my wife and I on the proper way to start a fire to make sure that thesmoke goes up the chimney (and not into our house, a problem that prompted out contacting Safe-T-Sweep.) Everythings been great with the fireplace since. I highly recommend (and will in the future hire) Safe-T-Sweep for our chimney care.

John showed up on time after calling the night before to confirm our appointment and set out his tools and cloths to protect my carpeting. He was very personable and explained what he was doing, how often the chimney should be swept. He answered all of my questions and even left me with a catalog so I could look at glass doors for our chimney if I wanted. It was raining that day and we could hear some water leaking onto the fireplace insert, so he went up on the chimney to look at the cap and told me it was rusting a bit and would probably need to be replaced eventually. He left me a card with a recommended company who can handle the type of chimney cap we have. At the end he even provided me with an aloe plant.(I had my choice of several plants).

John was prompt in returning our call and scheduled an appointment within a few weeks. He called the morning of the scheduled cleaning with an appointment time and then called again to let us know he was running early or late. We were pleased with his work.

Jon and his father were very kind and courteous. They were about 10 minutes late from the appointment time, but they called ahead to inform me (which I appreciated). Upon arrival, they quickly laid out floor covering from the front door to the fireplace to prevent damage to my carpets and tile. My fireplace had not been cleaned in at least 3 years, and it had heavy amounts of soot. They did an absolutely excellent job cleaning out the fireplace and chimney netting about 1 cubic feet of soot (I was amazed that there was that much in there). Prior to finishing the job, Jon inspected the top of the chimney and found everything in good repair on this 12 year old home. After cleaning up, Jon presented me with a free aloe plant that his green-thumb father raised. Overall, superb work was done by a truly dedicated and professional father and son team.
