I had some water damage in my basement/kitchen that needed repair. The water damage expanded behind kitchen cabinets, which made the job complex enough for us to get a contractor. It was believed that the water damage was due to a fire next door that was extinguished approx a year prior. The gentleman from this company didn't even look at the damage but instead described a scenario where I likely had mold damage that required the entire wall replacement. He indicated that the damage was definitely due to the water from the fire next door and his eyes widened at the idea that the insurance company may be involved. A year prior, the fire had caused extensive smoke damage, which I filed a claim and it was resolved. This water damage was not noticed until a year later because it was behind appliances/cabinets. Before calling any contractors, I contacted the insurance company about adding this water damage to the claim. After reviewing my policy, "water seeped in from walls" was not covered. When I mentioned this to the gentleman from MSI, he was extremely rude and condescending, indicating it was my fault the the claim was rejected. I provided him my contact information to send a quote, which never came. After hiring someone else for the job, there was absolutely no trace of mold damage and I can't help but think that if he even looked at the damage, he would have had a more accurate assessment. Between the rudeness, lack of professionalism in the estimate, inaccurate assessment and lack of follow up is why I give MSI a F.

I had work done by MSI two years ago, however, I just recently joined Angie's List. I was so pleased with their quality of work that I wanted to include my review on here as well. Like many other people have already written in, we had mold in our basement. It was pretty bad and we knew we had to get it taken care of, but were concerned about the cost and the work that would be entailed. I found MSI by doing a search online and was extremely impressed by their website as well as excellent reviews. We called them up and they came out very quickly. Joe explained the entire process to me and gave me several price options as far as doing just the cleaning as well as the cleaning and cement work. We decided to do both and are extremely happy with the results. Joe called every day to keep me up to date on the progress and was very professional and easy to talk to. The basement looks brand new and Joe even took before and after pictures so we could actually see the difference. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs mold remediation, masonry work, etc.

I called Joe at MSI on a Thursday and discussed the mold issues described above. We agreed on an appointment time the following Monday. Joe showed up on time and spent a great deal of time going over the problem and how he would correct it. He called me with an estimate a couple hours after he left. I also had a timing issue in terms of getting the work completed asap and Joe was very accommodating. I accepted the estimate and the work was completed two days later on Wednesday. Joe and his crew are prompt, extremely professional and courteous. They did a great job. I would definitely suggest that anyone who has a mold removal problem call Joe at MSI before they hire anyone else.

Joe was very responsive in initial inquiry for an estimate. He walked me through the work in my basement and what his team would do. We had a difficult time communicating back and forth to arrange a final date for his team to come out but in the end it worked out. I would recommend phone as the best means of communication. After Joe's visit, I called and asked for an estimate for the work as he didn't write it up onsite. They are definitely not the cheapest price but I believe for the detail and quality it was worth it. The day they performed the work. they arrived promptly as discussed prior. They began to prep right away and bring in the equipment. The workers were efficient and courteous. They asked if they could plug things in as well as use the kitchen sink to fill up a bottle. Honestly, they were heads down working the whole time that I hardly noticed they were there. Joe came when they wrapped up went over the work. He even was nice enough to give me step by step instructions on re-coating the foundation walls and let me know where I could pick up the needed materials. He spent the extra time to make sure I had it down. A+ service

We had recently had the stucco evaluated on our home and found that there had been water penetration. I got in touch with Joe Fiorilli at MSI to have a mold inspection to get an idea if there was mold inside my home. Joe called me back within a day of when I left the message and we arranged to have him come to my home the next morning. He warned me that the timing might be a bit tricky because of where he needed to be before coming to my home. The only reason I rated him a B on punctuality is because the timing turned out to be later than he first had thought. To his credit, Joe kept in touch with me by phone and updated me on his progress in getting to my home. Once in my home, the inspection went smoothly and Joe made it clear that it was important to do a minimum of 4 tests to get an accurate picture of what might be going on in my home. It wound up being a total of 6 separate air samples and I understood why this was necessary and happily agreed to have them done. Joe was happy to explain what he was doing and why. I was very comfortable having him in my home. Several days later, Joe called to let me know that the report had come in and that it would not necessitate any further need for his services as there was no appreciable mold to be dealt with. This was good news and I appreciated that Joe did not look to sell me unneeded services. I would definitely recommend Joe and MSI to others looking for a knowledgeable person/company to deal with a possible mold issue.

We had mold in our living room walls due to faulty installations of replacement windows. Had used Joe and his company previously. Enjoyed working with them so we called Joe immediately. He responded back personally within 24 hours. He came to begin the work the following day. The work took 1 and 1/2 days to finish. They cut the drywall out. Cleaned and removed mold inside the wall. And then encapsulated these areas per our request. Joe and his worker were great to work with. They were friendly, professional and helpful. Joe even left his air scrubber for a few extra days at our house to help address the vapors from the encapsulation material. I would highly recommend Joe for any mold issues!

Condensate pump from AC/Humidifier broke while we were away, came home to find flooding in the basement after a week. Called Joe from MSI based on Angie's List reviews. He returned my call promptly, came out, did an inspection of the damage and provided an estimate. He did explain what the estimate entailed and the additional damage that might be revealed when he started to do the work. I agreed to the estimate and work--I did have to pay out of pocket, though hopefully it will be covered by insurance. MSI came out at the agreed upon time and began the work. They did find additional damage (which he had explained and I suspected), so the estimate was adjusted accordingly. Joe was earnest, helpful and forthcoming through the process -- explaining insurance related issues as well as issues related to the job and my home. The worked efficiently and returned the next day to complete the additional work required. Joe continued to communicate thoroughly at every step along the way. The work was well done and they cleaned up after themselves. Joe went the extra mile to make sure the basement was fully dried out and even provided equipment to help with the smell from the cat litter boxes and an cat pee accident (unknown to us) he found in the basement when working (unrelated to his work). He was a pleasure to deal with. Made the process painless and easy. Definitely recommend MSI and would use him again...though HOPEFULLY will never need him again!

Our rental unit had a deck that wasn't sealed properly, and ended up with quite a bit of mold inside the walls of a second floor bedroom, and also a small portion of our kitchen walls. Joe came to check out the situation, e-mailed us an estimate right away, and started and finished the work all in one day. Since we live rather far, he coordinated the visits with our tenants, and kept in touch with us via email and phone calls to keep us updated, taking pictures of the progress as he went along and sending them to our cell phone, so that we can take a look at the situation before authorizing additional work (all done on the same day). He was detailed in all of his explanations and very responsive. He also gave us helpful information about working with our insurance agency and a public adjuster, and is providing paperwork directly to our public adjuster. Definitely would recommend his services to anybody who is having mold problems in their house!

Joe Fiorilli from MSI did an outstanding job for my Mom when a leaking water softener damaged the walls and carpet in a nearby closet. He was friendly, easy to work with, on-time, and professional. Joe clearly explained what could be done to fix the damage that was visible, and also explained what might need to be done due to damage that would only be visible once the closet walls were opened up to remediate the water damage. Luckily, no additional work needed to be done once the walls were opened up and the entire area examined. Since I don?t live near my parents and couldn?t monitor the repairs myself, Joe sent me photos to show me the water damage and what was done to fix it. Joe went above and beyond, in my opinion, advising me about the potential benefits of using a Public Adjuster, who could objectively assess the damage and help ensure that my parents? homeowners insurance treated us fairly. He even gave me advice about how much the closet reconstruction (which needed to be done by another company) *should* cost. I greatly appreciated that extra advice and guidance. Joe also did the carpet-cleaning in the room adjacent to the closet, due to the same water damage, and potential mold contamination. He explained several methods he could use, and clearly explained the benefits of each. He also offered us some valuable information about carpet-cleaning in general, to help preserve my parents? investment in new carpeting. Since they live on a fixed income, we found this guidance very useful. Joe really goes the extra mile and is very responsive. I would readily recommend him to my friends, neighbors and relatives.

I cannot recommended Joseph Fiorilli enough. He is a great guy, easy to work with, takes time to explain everything, and knows exactly what he is doing.

As MSI had done a fantastic job in removing the mold from our attic, they were the first and only company we considered when we realized we had to get our basement done as well. While we initially had planned to get the basement done with the attic, budget issues forced us to put off the basement job, plus the fact that we did not have anything stored in the basement. However when we saw mold coming up the basement steps, we know we could put it off any longer. Joe came out to provide an estimate for the basement On Thursday October 25th, and we had planned for him to start work on Wednesday the 31st. However, we had to reschedule due to loss of power from Hurricane Sandy. And although Joe has a generator, unfortunately, he already had his generator at another job. The delay was unfortunate, but Joe was very good at keeping in touch and did his best to reschedule our job as soon as he was able to. Joe and his crew did a thorough job of removing the mold, using chemicals that are non toxic to humans and pets, and use true HEPA vacuums. They also take the time to properly and thoroughly seal off the area that requires mold removal. In addition to the great job they did in removing the mold from our basement, Joe helped us find the right dehumidifier for our basement needs. As we have approximately a 1500 sq ft basement, Joe advised us to invest in a more expensive unit that would be more efficient and use less electricity then three smaller units from a hardware store. As the larger unit is about 100 lb, he was also kind enough to take the dehumidifier down to the basement and turn it on to make sure that it work properly, so in case the machine was defective, they could take it back to our garage for us. In summary, MSI is a high quality mold remediation company, and the Angie list ratings and accommodations they have been given is a true testimony to the quality work they provide. Although there may be other companies who claim they can clean a large area in one to two days cheaply, you can count on Joe to be honest and open in explaining how he estimated the job, what the work involves, and take the time to answer all your questions and concerns.

Professional, professional, professional! Joe and his team were very responsive after the storm and were able to come out fairly quickly. He explained in detail the work to be done and kept me updated at each phase of the project. They are punctual and respectful of my property. I will be contacting this company again for additional work.

We had a mold test done and it came back positive. We called MSI and Joe responded promptly. He came out to assess our situation and gave us a proposal to remediate the mold issue in the basement. We rescheduled the work and they came as scheduled. The work took 5 days to complete. Joe and his crew came on time each day. They were professional, friendly and responded to our concerns promptly. They were great to work with and we would definitely use them again.

r.Joe, the owner, is one of the best contractors with whom I have ever dealt. He is courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. He also has great customer service skills. Joe took my call personally when I telephoned. He arrived precisely on time, cleanly attired and ready to go. He explained the process in detail and began work promptly. He and his assistant had to move some things to access the problem area. They did it carefully and placed everything on a dropcloth. They set up an isolation area so we would not be exposed to the mold or dust from the area in which they were working and placed all of there equipment on dropcloths outside the area where they were working. Their contract was detailed and clear. The work was completed timely. Joe explained that his estimate was preliminary and the final bill might be different depending on what he found inside the walls. At the comclusion of the job we were informed that the job was more extensive than he thought originally but since it the length of time he expected there would be no additional charge. Consummate professionalism. I would certainly use this company again (although I hope I never have another mold infestation).

Mr. Fiorilli's and his team entered the property and addressed the infestation issue first. After the house was treated, they were able to enter and remove all of the bio waste and affected materials (rugs, furniture, clothing, etc). At the end of each day, Mr. Fiorilli contacted my wife and I through either email or phone with updates or requests for direction when certain items were located. The entire MSI team remained professional and followed all necessary biohazard protocols throughout the course of the clean up. Mr. Fiorilli and his team were able to remove all the bio waste in the property within the expected time frame.

One of the challenges with this particular job is that my wife and I had to coordinate from our home in Florida. Without being able to check in on the work frequently, we were concerned with any company we employed. Mr. Fiorilli and his team of workers at MSI exceeded all our best expectations. Not only was Mr. Fiorilli courteous and responsive, but he made sure that we were updated on his findings and his progress on a daily basis through both phone and email communication. Mr. Fiorilli photographed and documented all the contents of the house - denoting each as salvageable or needing to be disposed of. Considering the disrepair that the house had fallen into, and the damage throughout caused by the water damage and lack of upkeep, MSI did a fabulous job that was completed quicker than the originally expected time frame. We would (and have!) recommend MSI to anyone needing this type of work.

Joe frequently gave me updates via text to keep me posted; so, despite the fact that his fee was twice as much as the 1st company's quote, I knew exactly what to expect, &, for all the reasons above, I felt it was worth spending twice as much for a company that is very competent, reliable; professional in every way.

They were very, very good. They were very nice and I would highly recommend them a lot. They came in and quarantined the whole entire area. The gentleman that was running the project was very informative. He said it would be taken care of in a week and it was actually done a day early. The pricing was very fair.

Everything went great. Joe is a great guy. He was easy to talk to, showed up exactly on time, and there was no pressure.

I was attempting some modifications to our shower valve without shutting off the main water supply beforehand. This resulted in water flowing behind our shower wall into the kitchen below! My wife rushed to turn off the main water supply but a lot of damage had already been done. After having some emergency work done by a plumber, we called MSI. We were aware of Joe's company because we had hired him do some cleanup on our basement less than 2 months beforehand because of a leaky dehumidifier. Joe arrived the next morning to assess the damage. He told us his team would be sealing off our kitchen for a couple days so they could remove the ceiling (2 feet beyond the edge of all water damage) without spreading any dust. The MSI team started work a couple days later, although Joe was willing to start even sooner. They sealed off the kitchen and cut out the drywall ceiling. They also cut out the wall behind the shower (in our master closet) because it was wet. Joe shampooed the carpet in our closet and his team tore all of the plastic walls down and left our kitchen cleaner than it was before the leak! Throughout the process, MSI had fans and a dehumidifier running to dry everything out. This was the second time we had used MSI and we were very happy customers again. Joe and his team were very professional and courteous. I can't recommend MSI enough!

We discovered that our dehumidifier had been leaking in our basement for up to 2 weeks. The carpet was soaked. We found M.S.I. on Angie's List and called the number and left a message around 11 PM. Joe returned our call minutes later! He told us he would be out in the morning to assess the damage. The next day, Joe arrived and told us the exact work that would need to be done (remove carpet padding, remove damaged drywall, dry and clean the carpet and treat everything) and gave us an estimate. He returned later that day with another individual and they went right to work. In a few hours, the wet padding and drywall had been removed and the fans were set up. Joe kept us informed of his progress throughout the day, like showing us the thermal imaging he used on the walls to check for water damage. Joe returned the next morning to check on the carpet. He checked the bacteria levels in the carpet using a cotton swab and high tech handheld device and the levels were normal, meaning we could keep the carpet! The carpet was still a little damp, so Joe said he would wait another day before cleaning it. When he returned, the carpet was cleaned and the fans were set up again. The legs of our furniture were also treated. A few days later, Joe made his final trip to our home to remove the fans. He recommended some people to replace the carpet padding and drywall. Joe was extremely professional and courteous. He regularly kept us informed about what he was doing and why. Even though he was traveling over an hour to our home each time, he made several trips, including one time just to check on things. The initial estimate was right on. Joe was very nice to our son, who really enjoyed watching M.S.I. work. We are very pleased with the work that was done and happy that we chose M.S.I.

My husband and I were very impressed with Joe and his employees. Joe came out promptly and answered all of our questions clearly and thoroughly. When I asked him about cleaning out the duct work (the HVAC system was flooded as well), he was honest and told me that it could be done just as effectively and for much less money by an HVAC company. He was obviously passionate and knowledgeable about what he does! The workers were all extremely respectful of our house, setting up containment of the basement and putting down drop cloths so that they did not track dirt. They were also very careful not to let any of our cats run out while they were entering or exiting the house (our cats are indoors only, but one of them likes to sneak out). The work was done over the course of three days, and they coordinated it with us so that it would work with our schedules. When they were done, the basement was thoroughly dry, cleaner than ever, and smelled great! I am also very grateful to Joe for working with our homeowner's insurance company to provide all necessary documentation. With his help, we were reimbursed for thefull cost of the cleanup.

They were prompt, careful, and knowledgable. They were very good at communication. They explain everything that they are doing, and they only do what is needed.

Joe Fiorilii, the owner of MSI, was very courteous, punctual, knowledgeable, thorough and meticulous, with an outstanding work ethic. this positive work ethic was also shown in his workers who were also very courteous, clean and hard working. His He was very clean and he was competitively priced. He explained the whole process to me and informed me on the mold and how to keep my home safe from it. His meticulous manner of work was especially shown in the time that was taken to seal the attic space, the use of true Hepa filter vacuums, as well as using sheets to ensure that our carpets would not be soiled by dirt from his and his workers shoes. He also continued to keep us in the loop regarding the progress of the work, and the remaining time it would take to finish. He had estimated that it would take a 4-5 days, depending on the extent of mold and ease of removing it, and he remained on budget. To provide perspective regarding the cost and the amount of work that was done, our attic has two perpendicular peaked sections with a combined floor space close to 1,000 sq feet. So, considering the work done to remove the mold properly, it was money well spent. We definitely recommend him to anyone who needs to have mold removed.
