When we purchased our home close to 30 yrs. ago, we noticed our roof was not so attractive and informed it was “about 20 yrs. old” We were blessed to not suffer any leaks or damages all those years but were dreading the day all homeowners must face: Replacement. With all the hype out there on “lifetime metal” roofs, we nearly made an expensive decision! However, one thing we did right was look locally for family-owned/operated roofers with experience. Clint from Hackman Smartroof truly lives up to the company “name” as he educated us on the tremendous cost savings of a traditional shingle over metal without sacrificing the lifetime warranty! He even took the time to go up into our crawl space and gave a “worst case scenario” should any of the lumber need replaced (our actual expense was only $70 over vs. the $200-300 he buffered in). How many companies can say that? It was obvious that Clint and company have the roofing/spouting business “joy” from Marnie in the office to the roofing AND spouting installers, it was very pleasant and unruffled from start to finish. The roof and spouting were both completed inside one day JUST before the rain storm the next day and NOT one single plant or lawn decoration was marred in the process. Again, what business can make that claim? We found them to be everything they claim to be...honest, thorough, polite, friendly, efficient and professional. To say that this was the best decision we made in a very long while is putting it mildly. The new roof (we went with Clint’s recommendation and it IS the RIGHT color schematic for our home!) AND spouting gave our home a fresh face! We did receive other estimates from local roofers but Clint @Hackman Smartroof LISTENED to and didn’t talk at. His shared insights educated and saved us money; how many outfits do that?

Experienced professional team removed & replace roof in one day. it was extremely windy the day the roof was replaced. debris blew everywhere. the crew cleaned up every single piece of debris. they even protected my husband's fish by placing plywood over his pond. the roof looks fabulous.

Just had an enormously complex roof redone by Hackman. Almost flat tin roof on top, probably original with 120 yr old house, replaced with rubber; conventionally sloped connecting sections redone with great looking shingles; entirely flat addition redone in rubber. Hackman knocked it out of the park, from the receptionist to the clean up - couldn't have been better. The property's access for material load in and debris removal was awful, but the crew adapted, improvised and overcame with miniscule disruption of gardens and lawn. The job itself was perfectly executed in record time, the follow up was rapid, brief and humorous. Best of all, when it rained, NO water ran out of the can lights in the ceiling. Hooray!! They got me scheduled pretty quickly. They also came and did the job and I didn't even know they were there it was so clean!

They were excellent people. We were impressed with them. They went into the attic and checked out all of the roofing and they told me what had happened and what should be done. They told us about the timing and everything. It was super professional. They were super good, and I would recommend them to anyone. They fixed everything and we haven't had a problem since. I'm so thankful we had it done. They were super nice people to work with.

Have used this company several times and they do a very good job. Everything that they say they will do ets done and I have had no problems with their workmanship. They get the job on the schedule that they give you and they are very good at cleaning up any mess

I thought they were good because they actually went up inside my attics to look at the roof. Their quote was a little bit higher than the other company. They could not get exact roof noggins and tiles estimate, because my roof is so old in the front. They were on time.

Overall, it was okay. I didn't really want to wait 2-3 weeks for install, but I understood not wanting to be on the roof in bitter cold/possible snow and/or ice (thankfully, they managed to get the last good day before it got cold, started to snow/sleet, etc.) The wait aside, I wasn't pleased about not being given a definitive arrival time or at very least a range of time- only that they were coming the next day. Given previous experiences with contractors, I thought that meant between 8-10am. Approaching noon, I ended up calling to see when they would be here. They got here shortly after, nearly as I made the call. They did the job very quickly! They were here from 12:14pm-1:38pm. The product/quality seems to be very good. So far it's working very well. When I called to pay my bill today, the very nice representative let me know that as part of the roof cleaning/maintenance package I purchased, they will be back in the fall to clean the roof/inspect gutters, etc. That definitely left me with a good feeling. Follow-up is a very big deal! All in all, it worked out okay. I needed it done and hopefully it was done well and with a product that will eliminate future issues with my gutters clogging with debris. If it does what it's supposed to do---absolutely worth the price.

The entry door was a special order that took a very long time for the factory to fill. Hackman was very understanding in our decision to get this certain door. The door is the icing on the cake. We love our other doors but the entry is the knock out. Brian and his crew had our doors in so we could show them off for Thanksgiving to our family. Again, I cannot say enough how we were treated by Hackman. Our wishes, concerns and time lines were always foremost. The corrections that they made to the mistakes the builder did in the beginning make our home safer and more comfortable. The workmanship is second to none. I know I sound over the top but they have meet and exceeded every one of our expectations. Our neighbors stop us and tell us how wonderful our home looks now.

WOW... what a difference this has made in the looks of our house and the heating bill. Brian and his crew did fantastic work. They were professional and efficient. They were working here for 2 weeks. This was a major overhaul for our home. Brian was always in tune to what needed to be done and each day the clean up was done before they left. His interior work is excellent. We did not sacrifice light coming in our windows by replacing our windows with new construction rather than replacement windows. We live in the woods so all the sunlight we get indoors means a lot to us. The siding, windows and gutters were the second part of a three part job we had Hackman Roofing do for us. They also replaced doors. Please refer to that review. I can not begin to express how happy we are to have Hackman's do our work and the results they achieved.

The company rep, Clint, came to our house and we discussed the job. He measured and gave us a rough idea of what it would cost. He returned a few days later with samples for us to choose from. We decided to replace three skylights and he gave us the options for those. I accepted the final proposal and a after a couple of weeks, the skylights were in and they were ready to start the job. Unfortunately Hurricane Sandy delayed that another week but they came on Monday 11/5/12 and finished Wednesday 11/7/12. A separate crew came Friday 11/9/12 and installed the gutter covers. Clint came back the next week and went over the job to make sure we were satisfied, and to collect the balance. Note, they do not take Discover Card so no cash back for us there. They did a nice job and the roof looks great. There was minimal damage to the landscape foundation plants, which are 20+ year old azaleas and rhododendrons. Just a few small broken branches here and there. No big deal. Clean up was good, I found one nail in the driveway though. I don't know how the price compares to other roofers, we did not shop around as we didn't really want to haggle, but it seems a reasonable price for the job. Overall very happy.

We had estimates from 2 other companies as well as Hackman's. From the beginning the thoroughness that was taken to assess OUR needs was evident. This was the only company who went through our attic and took pictures of our trouble spots. They also assessed our insulation while they were there. They gave us solutions for our bathroom ventilation problems. They offered repairs to our chimney crown coat. While these are individual areas they all are part of the roof system. Their proposal was not the least expensive, but it was for a quality roof that we know will pass any home inspection and many many years to come. It was not just shingles slapped up and nailed down. We were shown samples of what we were making decisions on. You just know when something feels right. Compared to the other proposals that had nothing more than type of shingle and the square footage. It took the crew two days to complete the work. It is a large roof. We did have them install the bathroom exhaust fan bonnets, but contracted the chimney work to a chimney company. They cleaned up as they went and on both days when they left checked for missed nails in the yard and driveway. It is beautiful. The roof was one part of three parts of work that Hackman has done for us recently.

The repairs went great. The leak was certainly eliminated and workmanship was excellent. The condition of the ridge vents was brought to my attention with detailed pictures, so I did not have to get up on the roof and I made the decision to have them replaced since I will be selling the house soon. Everything was done on-time, promptly and without difficulties. The quality of workmanship was excellent. I would recommend Hackman for roofing. Maybe not the cheapest, but definitely done right and without any high pressure.

I am very pleased with the crew and they got right to work, no wasting time and at the end of the day they cleaned up the area. My installation took two days and after day one you would not even know I was having a roof replaced if you did not look up. I have lightening rods on that top peaks and one of the glass globes were broken by accident, I was not truly concerned because I know the Company would replace and it was replaced less than a week. It happens no big deal, it just proves they are responsive to the consumer. I compared their pricing with another roofer and it was only $1500 additional but the other roofer was just installing a roof and no ventilation systems. So overall, their prices are comparable and I am extremely happy with my roof and it looks really nice and should withstand any windstorm that may come my way. I have a detached garage with the old three tab shingle but money only goes so far, I would consider them to replace that roof when I have the funds.

Hackman is a very reputable and professional company. They were reasonably priced, and they did a good job.

Everything went well except for one item. The issue was that they disconnected an electrical line in order to complete the work, and they told me that I would have to contact the electric company to have it reconnected. This was inconvenient as we were about to leave for a trip that day. Luckily, the company had an electrician on staff who came out immediately to address the issue. I also felt that they should have left the excess siding instead of taking it with them.

I was rather disappointed with the gentleman that I dealt with initially. I felt that he didn't provide a qualitative diagnosis, and I found his inspection process to be lacking. During his analysis, he was nearly 30 feet away from the problem area, and he used a small flashlight that only showed approximately 10 feet. I can't really gauge if his assessment and the work were effective until the next rainfall as well.

Their representative was thorough and professional in his assessment and presentation. But I did not like the presentation of the quote because of the fact that he did not provide details or the breakdown between materials and labor. I would consider getting another quote from them, but I would not consider using them based on their pricing and how they presented the labor and material quote. Their price was also significantly higher than the next highest quote, and that didn't have anything to do with their presentation or my thoughts on the quality of work that they might perform. It wasn't necessarily a negative experience as much as it was a minor criticism I made of how they presented information and quoted.

Everything went as planned. The job was done on time and on cost.

The quality and the people were excellent; they were very professional, very knowledgeable, on time, and they will hear your concerns. They were absolutely fabulous, the only reason that we decided not to go with them was that the prices were very reasonable for what they will do but it was just for more than they can do for the project.

Hackman did great work and completed the work very quickly. Furthermore, the employees had great personalities, it was easy to work with them, and they charged a competitive price.

It didn't go well. The ridge vent didn't have the proper parts, so rain and insects were getting into the attic. I had them come back out to address the problem, but it did nothing to help. Furthermore, they charged me $80 for this even though it was their error. Ultimately, I took the vent out and installed my own.
