Description of Work: I needed a new pump for my heater. I called at 3pm. Joe Walsh was at my door at 5pm on a Sunday Dec 30, 2017 in the freezing cold weather. He cleaned the water mess even though I said not to. It was more important to be with his family at dinner time.. Thank you Joe. Excellent rating in all categories.

Description of Work: They came out to take a look at the issue with our tankless water heater (which they installed) and could not provide service at that time. We were told they needed to contact manufacturer in Europe and with the time difference, etc... they would get back to me. After several attempts to call them, I finally went on to the Rinnai manufacturer's site and called them (located in United States!). The manufacturer was very helpful and even offered to talk with Walsh Brothers' service person when they came back... Walsh Brothers never returned my calls or came back. There were no charges, however, there was NO service performed. I did locate another company through the manufacturer's website and had my tankless water heater issue resolved!

Walsh Bros. quoted a little less than Oliver and Henderson. Went with Walsh because I live near their office in Drexel Hill. Others were cheaper, but did not impress. Scheduled to have the work done six days later. Joe Walsh and his associate started on time. After the radiator was moved, Joe left and the associate did the piping to the new location. The associate was very responsive in running the piping exactly how I wanted them to look. Looks nice and I feel like I got what I wanted.
Description of Work: Disconnected radiator from attic location, sealed connections, moved radiator to a basement location and piped new copper to the new location. Purged system and tested boiler operation.

I smelled gas near the oven, and called PGW. Someone came out and identified the problem as a leaking gas line running to the oven, and suggested I call a plumber. After reading all the great reviews about Walsh, I called and someone was able to come out the following day. The service man Jim was prompt and friendly, and completed the job in about an hour. There was a coupon on the company website; he waited while I printed it, and applied the discount no questions asked.

This was job on a very short notice, because I wanted the back-up in before the super storm Sandy hit. The job was agreed on last minute, and plumber came on the day when most people were already too hysterical to be outside. So that part was great. The plumber who was sent out had no experience installing battery backup pumps, so he had to call the mothership a few times for directions. He could not replace the old pump, and he barely fit in the new one, but he got the job done. The pump didn't come on once during the storm and I never lost the electricity. So whether it works, i don't know. The bad part was the price. It was almost three times what i was quoted by other plumbers in the month leading up to this. Taking into account the storm, i guess i understand the markup. So lesson learned -- do essential things as they come up and don't wait for major natural disasters and last minute pricing.
Description of Work: Installed a backup sump pump and a marine battery in a well that already had a (very old) pump.

If anyone can let me know of any plumbing company that will furnish and install a complete battery back up sump pump system for 400.00 as this person states please have them call my office. I will sub contract all my sump pump system installations to them.

Ingenious, excellent service and reasonable charge.I am writing to praise Walsh Brothers Plumbing & Mechanical Services, Inc., 3617 Garrett Road, Drexel Hill, PA, 19026. They are my heroes. As it snows this cold Spring day, I have a warm bathroom for the first time since 2007 thanks to the ingenuity of John Walsh, who -- unlike four plumbers I consulted before him -- discovered how to heat the radiator. In the basement, John shined a flashlight on a red valve deep within a crawl space barely wide enough for a toddler. He predicted the valve might just need to be turned on, then Greg with Walsh Plumbing bravely entered the space that other plumbers had walked away from with a look of post-traumatic stress on their faces. Yet Greg maneuvered into the narrow space and crossed a long distance to fix the problem. The four plumbers I consulted before Walsh Brothers could not offer a solution below $10,000.. Walsh Brothers charged $625 to not only bring heat to the bathroom radiator, but to repair a kitchen sink and upstairs bathtub, expertly done by Jim. FYI, this is my first encounter with Walsh Brothers and I don't know anyone in their organization. In this tough economy, Walsh Brothers service and ingenuity is the stuff of legends. If I could, I'd give John a huge bonus for solving the mystery, and Greg for entering that nightmarish space. Hat's off to Walsh Brothers, the best plumbers and heating specialists! You can very safely recommend them on Angie's List.
Description of Work: 1. Fixed bathroom radiator. 2. Installed new kitchen sink faucet. 3. Repaired leaking overflow drain and pipes in upstairs bath tub.

Walsh Brothers Plumbing gave me a bid over the phone and came out within a few days to install my new hot water heater. My utility bills are at least $100 lower each month and in less than one year this new appliance will pay for itself. Walsh Brothers were quick to install, answered all of my questions and made this home improvement very convenient for me. I would recommend them highly.
Description of Work: My 19 year old house still had the original water heater. I had suspected that it was not that efficient, but found out how true this was once Walsh Brothers installed a new one. In the past, I had a plumber out for a repair on something else and he tried to get me to install a bigger hot water heater citing the size of my house, how many children I have and a few other reasons that didn't make sense. When I called Walsh Brothers, no one tried to talk me out what I knew I wanted. The over-the-phone bid took about five minutes and they came in at that price.

I was getting comparative estimates for a washer/dryer move up to a 2nd floor bedroom in an older home. His estimate came in the lowest of those collected - however I would say he has the least experience in how to assess older homes (which can be quirky). Needlessly chipped away plaster in the bedroom to find the stack --which wasn't there. The others I brought in for estimates knew that without needlessly chipping away plaster just by looking at the basement configuration of pipes and doing some spatial math. Nice guy though --and priced well. Probably fine for standard newer homes with no surprises. Use someone else if your home is older and "special".

My basement took on 17 inches of water after Hurricane Irene in 2011. I was devastated since my basement was newly remodeled. Both Joe and John Walsh came over my house to assess the damage and talk about what to do next. As I stated before, I have known them both for many years and respect their opinion and expertise. They recommended a few options and I decided on a sump pump with a gas generator as back up that would tie in to my electrical system so my sump pump would work if my house lost power. My sump pump never went off until Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast. Needless to say, I was very nervous about the storm. I had remodeled my basement since the last Hurricane and didn't want to have to go through that again. My sump pump and generator worked like a charm. My sump pump expelled the water when the water table rose and I didn't get a drop of water in my basement. I eventually lost power for 12 hours and my generator kicked in to maintain the sump pump and power a lot of my house. I was EXTREMELY grateful that everything worked as it should have. I know that if I didn't have the pump and generator my basement would have been destroyed. I called the Walsh Company to personally thank Joe. I highly recommend Walsh Brothers for all your plumbing needs.
Description of Work: I have used Walsh Brothers for many, many years. I have never been disappointed in the quality of their work. If I ever had an issue, they were always quick to resolve the problem. They have installed 5 bathrooms for me, 2 central air units, replaced my old heating unit, installed both water and electric heated floors in various areas of my house, and 2 sump pumps! I know everyone there and couldn't be more pleased. I don't trust anyone else other than Walsh Brothers to work on my home.

Would definitely callWalsh again for our plumbing needs
Description of Work: From the start, we were impressed with the prompt service. Three weeks in a row we had the plumber and each time they were prompt in answering our calls. Jim S. was the plumber for all of our problems. He was experienced, professional and was very pleasant to work wth. He knew his trade and was willing to answer any questions we had about the job he was currently working on. Our first encounder was to replace hot and cold water knobs in the basement. Our second was a pipe problem in the kitchen. The third problem was a bathroom pipe that broke. I can't say enough about the speed in which Jim was able to get the job finished. His professionalism and knowledge of his trade stood out and I know that we will call Walsh Brothers Plumbers for future jobs.

It was a good price. We had an idea of what we wanted and they got in and they encouraged us to do it better. They just had some great ideas. It was no advantage to them because it was not more money, they just gave us their professional advice. When they were putting the floor in, they found that a group of tiles were a different shade. They ripped them up and found ones that matched.

Our family loves this plumbing company. They redid all the plumbing in our guest bathroom in the summer of 2006. When we redid our kitchen in 2008-2009, we called them in a second! The kitchen space was gutted: they did all the rough-ins for the sink, the dishwasher and the water line for the new fridge. They were helpful in their suggestions for fixtures (recommending brands, etc.) and they were always prepared to explain the work. Also, they were very clean and professional. We have moved into a new house now and we have called them again to add a third floor shower.
Description of Work: DISCONNECTS: By homeowner ROUGH IN: We will re-rough in new waste, water, gas and ice maker lines to future fixture locations. Re-rough in washing machine drain line to satisfactory apply to township. PLUMBING FIXTURES: We will install the following plumbing fixtures supplied by others: 1 Kitchen sink and faucet 1 Garbage disposal 1 Dishwasher 1 Gas Range connection 1 Ice maker connection FINISH PLUMBING: We will install all required traps, shut off valves and supplies to complete installation of plumbing fixtures. CLEAN UP: Upon completion of job we will remove all accumulated debris from premises. INSURANCE: Our company carries Workman’s Compensation and Liability Insurance. A copy will be furnished upon request. WARRANTY: One year parts and labor.
